In this edition of Talk Show Natalie interviews international opera singer and football fanatic Thomas Elwin from London. In the programme you can hear Tom sing live. But before that Natalie asks him about how many operas he has performed in and the different languages he sings in
Natalie:
How many different operas has Tom performed in? Okay. So we've got the options are 25, 16, 60, 8, and I don't know why but it says cheese at the end. I don't think it's supposed to.
Natalie:
I love, I love live broadcasts. They're brilliant. Okay. So we've got lots of votes coming in now. I'll give her, give the viewers a bit longer. Nobody has voted cheese will be pleased... Okay. Right. So the most popular answer ..I'm going to end it now is 16. So what is the truth?
Thomas:
The answer is 25,
Natalie:
25. Wow. And do you remember every single one of them?
Thomas:
Uh, I, I do actually. Yeah. Um, I'm also astonished that it's 25 because each one takes a lot of work to memorize. And, uh, I think maybe two of them were in English out of that lot. Yeah. Um, so all the translations and, and memory work and then weeks of rehearsal. So 25 different operas is, is a lot of time. That's a lot of work.
Natalie:
Yeah. Because I guess most of them are in Italian or German,
Thomas:
um, lots in Italian and German. I have sung, uh, Italian, German, Russian, French and English operas. Uh, so far.
Natalie:
Wow.
Thomas:
Yeah.
Natalie:
And do you speak those languages?
Thomas:
I speak German a bit. I lived there for a few years. Um, and my aim is to learn German better. I'm an Italian as well. That'll be a good.. Thing to aim for
So Tom has sung in 25 operas and sings in 5 different languages but what about his passion for football..
