Ahmed Shawq was a prolific Egyptian poet who is nicknamed the “prince of poets” of modern Arabic poetry and is known as a pioneer of Arabic poetical drama. Prominent singers such as Um Kollthoum also admired and sang his poetry. To this day his work is an inspiration to young Arab poets. Yalla, let’s hear about his life in detail.
