Dr Catherine Calderwood was appointed as Chief Medical Officer for Scotland in March 2015. Catherine is an obstetrician and gynaecologist and continues to have a maternal medicine antenatal clinic at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Until her appointment as CMO, she was also the National Clinical Director for maternity and women's health for NHS England.
