You're listening to Later with Moe Kelly on demand from KFI AM six forty. I Am six forty This Later with mo Kelly. We're live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Happy Monday, Jackie Ray. As we go beyond the box score? How you doing this evening, I'm doing good. I'm excited about this upcoming week. I'm excited, but probably not for the same reasons that you are. The NBA Draft is upon us. There are all sorts of

discussions about who will be taken at number one. We know the Atlanta Hawks came out of nowhere to win the draft lottery, but that's going inside basketball. We're going beyond the box score. Let's look at some of these other issues surrounding the draft, and we had covered how Lebron James's son, Lebron James Junior, had declared for the draft, which was weird to me. I get nepotism, but it's really weird when you have a player who played

one year at USC barely played. It's four point eight points, two point eight rebounds, two point one assists. In no world is that a resume to be a lottery pick or even a draftee. In the NBA. Am I missing something here? It's not even a resume to be a starter the following season at USC. So it's troubling that this is what's happening, and it's exactly what you said. I am a diehard Lebron James fan. I

also tell people I don't mind the patriarchy system in theory. If I had children, I definitely would want to help my children do whatever they want to do, especially if I have a leg up in that situation. But this is where that system becomes a problem because now what's happening is somebody who's unfortunately, and I love Brownnie, I hate saying this, but someone who's not qualified is getting a look that someone who is qualified will not, simply because

of who his father is. Because that's the only way you can look at it. I know a lot of people can say, well, there's no other way you can look at it. There's nothing about his level of play we've seen thus far says he's ready for any type of position in the NBA, and that's including the G League. So this is a problematic situation for sure. And this is what some people who may not be familiar with sports may understand, when you are drafted, there is a rookie pay scale.

Not only would he be taking the spot of someone obviously and arguably more deserving, you're taking that money slot. There's nothing preventing a team from signing Bronni James as a free agent and then have him just signed with the team on a ten day contract or a two way player contract. There are a lot of options, but this just seems it feels dirty on some level because no one would ever give this guy a look, Bronnie James if Lebron James wasn't

his father, and it's a package deal. Lebron James wants to play with his son. Lebron James presently only plays for the Lakers, so this is only an issue which the Lakers have to work out. Correct right, and this is ESPN Adrian Rolsion. Now, he said that Lebron James and Rich Paul had said they don't want Lebroni to play. They don't want Bronnie to play in the league because they know he's not ready. They wanted a team to develop him. But to your point, that development still means a pay

slot, because if you're talking like when you're talking to development. You're talking about the G League, and I'm telling you right now that Lebron James Junior is not ready for that. And I would love to sit down with Lebron and just pick his brain as to why he's pushing forward with this, because he can't throw his hands in the air and say, oh, this isn't me, this is the Lakers that are interested in him, or this is this other team. He can't say that because we're all going to know that's

not the case. And when you talk about Lebron James and his legacy, he's very cognizant of his legacy at all times. And I would think that he would want to do the right thing, not only for Bronnie because this isn't the right thing for Bronni, but also for the league. And it

just makes everything look bad as far as what they're doing right now. And I'm just hoping that this is one of those things that it's a lot to do about nothing and it fizzles out and Bronni somehow says, hey, I'm going to stay in college, and then we can just say that's probably the forces that be that I've made him say that. But this is just a little too much for me. If I understand this correctly, Lebron James has

two options. He can opt out of his final year and then see what the market will offer for him, and by extension, Lebron James Junior see what that's out there for him, or the Lakers can pony up and pay him ungodly sums of money to stay or extend his contract. And that also probably would have to do with an implied negotiation of Lebron James Junior. If you are the Lakers, do you keep Lebron James at this point in his

career where he'll be forty years old next season. I acknowledge that he's playing at a high level, but you'd have to commit a lot of money for him. Well, the Lakers back themselves in this corner, and there's no team in the league that's going to pick up this option was twenty five million dollar option when they know Father Time is undefeated. Nobody going to do that.

So the Lakers are backed themselves in this corner, and I think they kind of have to stick with them because but they can't put their foot down and say, hey, we know you put we put this option in your contract that's great, we'll eat it, but we're not going to eat Bronny too. Well. If I'm Genie Buss, this is where my legacy. Talking about legacies, her legacy is on the line. Here. We remember

how they handled the Kobe Bryant exit the Lakers organization. I know that wasn't necessarily her fault, but overpaying as a thank you to Kobe, not for the then present day Kobe and what he could do, how that hampered and hindered the franchise for a good decade. I would say, how we're at that same crossroads where if you overpay for Lebron James, not only are you not going to win now, you preclude any chance later, right, which is again this is so this pains me to say it because I'm such a

diehard Lebron James fan. But even when they put this option in his contract, this was another hashmark for me. And who is doing what over there? Who is father time again? Is undefeated? And yes, Lebron is still playing at a high level, but he's not He's not twenty sixteen Lebron.

He's not the Lebron that can carry a team on his back. He needs solid help and I'm not even sure that the Lakers organization as a whole right now can make the proper decisions to put around him, because you can't get rid of Ad right now, and AD is winded in press conferences. So I don't understand really what their plan of attack is. They back themselves

into a terrible corner. And if they keep Lebron with this twenty five million dollar option, and then now you got BRONI sitting on a roster knowing he's not going to develop anytime soon, and I would dare say, based on what we've seen, I don't think he's ever going to get to the level of play as say at Bryce's. So what you're really doing is just trying to hope you hang on to that Lebron James legacy until Bryce is ready.

That's ridiculous. And there's something else we didn't talk about. Minnesota is going to be better with Anthony Edwards, who's only twenty two years old. Send Into is going to be better. Denver is still going to be Denver as

their two stars are in their prime. We can run the list of Oklahoma City with Shaye, you'll just Alexander, I can name you seven or eight teams, which you are going to be better next year than this year from a business standpoint, because we don't need to go into all the x's and o's. From a business standpoint, it would seem that the Lakers should cut bait because they are not going to be better next year. They can hold on to Lebron James is going to be a year older and Anthony Davis is

going to be a year older. Probably not going to be more reliable from an availability standpoint, but they're not going to be a better team. The problem is, and I've said this before and people get malded I say it, but I'm gonna say it again. I think in order to cut bait in this situation, you have to admit that you made the wrong decision. And I don't think the leadership that is in place with the Lakers is willing to admit that. And that always means you're just going to stay the course.

And I'll never forget when Jeanie, you know, she tweeted a couple of years ago after the passing of the late great Kobe Bryant that she missed him telling her what to do. And I think that's a problem. I think She relies heavily on the stars and them saying what they want and what they need, and she acts accordingly, and that's problematic. The Lakers have, to your point, painted themselves in this corner, and I don't know if they'll be able to get out of it anytime soon. We got to

go to a commercial break. On the other side, I want to talk about Glenn Big Baby Davis, who's on his way to prison, federal prison. We'll tell you why just a moment. You're listening to later with Moe Kelly on demand from KFI AM six forty. We're going Beyond the box Score still with Jackie Ray. We're live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Former NBA forward Glenn Big Baby Davis, he did spend some time with the Clippers.

He was recently sentenced by a federal judge last Thursday to forty months in prison plus three years supervised release for his November twenty twenty three conviction in an alleged scheme to defraud the league's healthcare benefits plan. It gets worse. Twenty two people, eighteen of them former players, including Terrence Williams and key On Duley, another former Clipper, have been sentenced as well, in the case for

filing false medical claims with the NBA players Health and Benefit Welfare Plan. Glenn Davis is only thirty eight, and when I say the sentences only three and a half years, it's not like he's doing life. But I am not only super disappointed, I'm surprised at how super stupid these guys were. What did you think about this whole fiasco. Well, when the pandemic hit, you knew people were going to start trying to figure out schemes. I didn't

have any idea that it would be Glenn baby Davis. And with all due respects, I've met Glenn baby Davis on several occasions this scheme. When I saw his name in the headline, I said, yep, let it just fit. It is fit personally, I've heard perfectly with who he is, and even after the sentencing him saying, you know what, this is what's going to stop me from eating burgers and now I can lose weight. Like his comprehension of like the gravity of this situation is, it's just not quite

there. I do agree with some of the trends that I've seen on Twitter. I do feel like the sentencing is excessive considering Brett Farre allegedly stole the million dollars from the Mississippi Welfare Fund and he's still playing golf. So I think that the optics of it kind of says, Okay, well, why

are you hammering down on this specific group of people. But either way, when you're talking about scheming for money, I would venture to say that most athletes don't know how to dot every I and cross every T to get away with something like that. Yeah, and I get the whole unfairness argument. I hate, though, trying to use examples of criminality to make a larger

point about the injustice of the justice system. I get that, you know, you make people want to make comparisons between Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein, right, and you know and R. Kelly, But no criminals say the unfairness conversation. For someone who's actually not guilty of a crime, don't try to say, well, R. Kelly got this amount of time, Harvey

Weinstein should get that amount of time. They're all in prison. And I know Harvey Weinstein had one of his convictions overturn, but his ass is still in prison. So yeah, I hear that argument. I understand it, but I think it's misplaced. When we're talking about people who are guilty,

it's not like you can make an argument that they're not guilty. I mean, this disappoints me because you have millionaires, all of them millionaires who wanted to get over on the system, which could have helped out somebody else who actually needed it. And to your point, Glenn, big Baby Davis, it hasn't hit home how serious this is. It doesn't take any of this seriously, which for me says we'll give more time. Yeah, Glenn sees

the world differently than anybody I know. I've talked to him several times, even when we've talked about NBA contracts. You know, he kind of had this mindset that there's nothing the players can do to better their situation. Like he and I have this conversation about healthcare, and I thought it was a fascinating conversation because it was three years ago. So now you fast forward now four years ago, so now you fast forward and it's an interesting thing.

It's an interesting concept. So my thing is why risk it? And this is always going to be my question for people who take these kinds of risk, because now with any crime. Now you're not just talking about you know, you're getting what it was, one hundred and sixty four thousand dollars. What is that going to do in the grand scheme of his life. Maybe for me one hundred and sixty four thousand dollars right now would be great,

but it still wouldn't be worth me risking my freedom. It still wouldn't work be worth me risk getting caught, because the repercussions of that is going to be far greater than that one hundred and sixty four thousand dollars. Well, there are a couple of things. One, these are retired players, so I know that their quality of living, their expenditures is probably decreased. You know, they're not living as high in the hall as they were ten fifteen

years ago, So I think this is part of that. And also, if you're living in a lifestyle where people have catered to you for most of your life as a professional athlete, you've been catered to since you were a child. You've been told that you're special, You've had people circumnavigate the rules for you. Going back to the old ways of college sports and how people are giving them a hundred dollars handshakes. They have not had to play with

them within the framework of the rules for quite some time. But again, you think after a certain point they have to realize they are not as valuable a commodity anymore. They're not going to be given that amount of grace or privilege anymore. And here we are, And honestly, I'm quite sure there are others who've been scheming and getting over but these guys are so dumb about how the way they did it. You know, of course they're going to get caught. So that's the thing, like, you have to know that

probably not going to get away with this. And to your points, I've always said that athletes coming into the league, especially athletes that have come from impoverished upbringings, there needs to be somebody dedicated to helping them understand that, hey, this is a you're now, but this isn't forever. So let's put things in place. Going back to Lebron, Lebron, if he stopped playing basketball tomorrow, he's gonna be good forever and ever, becaurever, put

forever and ever. He put things in place to make sure he's good. But I think a lot of athletes when they get to the league. This is that I'm here, I'm arrived, this is it, and they see the now and they don't see what's coming ahead, and then the future comes and then they're left with their pants down and they start making really stupid decisions. Well, good luck to Glenn. I mean, I don't know what to say. You know, let's see if he loses this way. He

seems excited about it, so let's see. Well he has at least three and a half years to think about it. Jackie Ray, it's always good to talk to you. Thank you for coming in. I know you had a very busy evening, so thank you for fitting us in. Thank you. You're listening to Later with Moe Kelly on demand from KFI AM six forty. The now late David Sanborn, who I grew up loving to hear and just enamored with all of his talent. It's sad to say he's good on

now at the age of seventy eight. He passed yesterday due to complications from prostate cancer. So we are playing music here and there from his illustrious career, six time Grammy winner and so many memories. Didn't know until tonight when I started the show that Stephan had similar memories which were tied to our fathers. That just blew me away. So I was I almost texted you, but I was like, I know you do a lot of work beforehand. But when I saw it in the list, I was like, what does

he know about Maputo from Bob James Samore. Yeah, I was like, oh my god, like, all right, I'll play it, We'll see what happens. And then I discover the news. But that when I talk about that was my soundtrack on the way home falling asleep. That was one of the songs I would always hear. So that always reminds me of like

a night drive going home, end of the night. And yeah, and then he always had to make that distinction every time, like oh yeah, and Bob James, he made Taxi the the thing, the taxi Maputo off that Oh my goodness, that album wouldn't play with all the songs Chicago Song and others. So it brings back so many memories and you just relish in the days in which music was so much more impactful, so much more powerful. Absolutely got some other news we have to talk about. You know that

I am someone who loves to go on cruises. My wife and I we try to hit a different continent each time we go on a cruise. We got sidetracked because the family as in not us. They wanted to do a cruise and they hadn't gone on cruisers, so they were cruise virgins for the most part. They wanted to start with a small one locally, got on Carnival, don't recommend. Got on Carnival, get a little three day Mexican Riviera Cruz, came back. It was fine. But they're just some great

things about cruises. It's a good way to sample certain locations that you wouldn't necessarily go to, or you didn't you wouldn't know if you want to go this, you get to sample this, stay a few hours or a day or so, get a feel for it, and if you want to come back and fly in and stay longer, you have a point of reference.

Well, not all cruises end joyfully. Let me take you to this is a Norwegian Cruise Line ship that was traveling up the coast to the Pacific Northwest, and there was one of the cruise workers who was arrested for flipping out and stabbing three of the passengers, two were cruise workers, one was an

actual passenger while on the cruise. According to a press release from the US Attorney's Office for the District of Alaska as in like the FBI, a man from South Africa identified as Natando Sigoni probably pronounced that wrong, has been arrested by the FBI. He's facing assault charges after allegedly attacking multiple passengers with a

pair of medical scissors. For the Alaskan based Federal Prosecutors, Sigone was working on a Norwegian Cruise Line vessel that left Seattle Hey Mark over the weekend and was bound for Juno, Alaska. It was supposed to shepherd guests through the quote unquote incredible sites of British Columbia, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest, But for one vacationing woman and two cruise ship employees, they all got stabbed.

The incident began when when other cruise ship workers allegedly observed this guy trying to release a lifeboat from the side of the ship. That was clue number one. He wasn't all there. They contacted security and he was escorted to the cruise vessel's medical center. As opposed to the jail. There, he allegedly picked up a pair of medical scissors and attacked multiple people without any provocation whatsoever. And I know this is when Taualla starts slipping out because he's not

going to get on a ship and have to worry about getting attacked. Prosecutors say none of the three provoked, None of the three people provoked Sigoni in any way, and that the violent attack came up out of the blue. The woman was stabbed multiple times, and the other employees were seriously injured too. I have to wonder since the way it's laid out, the woman was stabbed last, but how did she get stabbed the most when she was stabbed

last? Probab because she didn't run messed up. I thought the crew was going to take care of her. She was like, well they got it, they got a hand. Oh my god, they don't. But she's probably she According to that, she was in a medical examination room, so she was probably blocked in. My point is there were other people there who could have jumped in, could have done something. I no, no, No, one's jumping in while a crew members stabbing folks. That's not when

you jump in, not on the ship. No, No, Look, you're worried about that boat sinking, You're worried about mega sharks, you are worried about falling into the water. You got way too much, the dead bodies in the freezer. You got too much to worry about. What would concern me is when they find this guy trying to lower a lifeboat into the water, I'm thinking, what does he know that I don't m go.

You can only push gophers so far he's gonna But if he's he's letting other lifeboat, I'm thinking, like, did he leave a bomb, you know, did he release some sort of toxin? Why is he trying to get off the ship. And then once you get that guy, why why would why would you not put him in the brig some sort of jail you can you can analyze him from jail. True, put him in the ice cream

freezer. Yeah, because once he's trying to do something which could harm the ship or change I don't know, when you let a lifeboat go, anything could happen. Or he's trying to let anything happen. He needs to be detained, not examined. You examine him in the medical uh lounge or wherever the medical center put his ass in the jail and then send a doctor to him. It's much safer that way. Well, how you put him in irons, that's what you do, put him in irons. Failing that,

you keel haul them. That's that's how it worked in the old days. You're so helpful and you have Isaac watch over them. You haven't been on a cruise, have you? Mark? Are you kidding me? I wouldn't if your life depended on it. One of these anti cruise people to all of the won't go on a cruise? Mark won't go on a cruise, stebbing, I don't know. This story is not helping. Do you think

the story helps? I hope you don't think the story helps. You are strong selling you were not going to go on a cruise even before this happened. You know what, Every single year I think to myself, maybe it's not that bad, and then all of a sudden you have stabbing mcjenkins out of here to take it to the people on the boat. No, sir, Well, even with the stabbings, mo, aren't these things notorious for

being just floating culture dishes where everybody comes down with something. Look, we all know that you have what's the word in a version to common sense? Is the term you're looking for? No, no, no, no, no, you're you're borderline hypochondriacs. Not what I were to No. Look, just because Mark doesn't want to get on Carnival Herpie simplex tim Quemsy's that does not make him anti social or against people. Well, no, it's hard enough just to get the man to go to movies. Okay, he's

hypochondria. That's not what it is. That's insane. What a sick thing of you to say. You've said it. You were you were you were reticent to go to movie theaters because they were super spreader events. According to you, we're four years into a global pandemic that's killed more than a million Americans. What about that? It's hard to know you're so you're agreeing that that's you're a hypochondria. I have a healthy degree of common sense when it

comes to super spreader locations where you're more likely to get sick. You don't see me going to like a big crowded concert or a gym right now, either, do you. Mark? People can't see you. But you're working in a box which is smaller than a prison cell and you share instruments with six other people in the given day. That's a good point. I'm not swapping fluids with anybody in here. You use a little of the same mic as everyone else pretty much. Well, it's not going in me. I'm

just talking in front of it. You're breathing pretty good stuff. Pick aside, will you. You're basically kissingbor Mark and Michael Krozer right now. Well, first of all, I'm not sure how I actually kneel about. Come here, Crozier, there, give me some tongue. There's much worse in the building if you want to, if you want to go there. Let's

let's stick to the cruise situation here. You cannot deny that there are widespread reports of people on cruises coming down with something that's You don't care about that, apparently, no, I do care about it. But there are certain things that my wife and I do when we're on the ship, when we go up and down the steps, we don't put our hands on the rails. You wear haz matt suit, both of you for the whole cruise. No, no, no, no, Like when we go in the pool

on the ship, we're a condom. That kind of thing. Uh huh uh huh, of course, yeah, yeah, gotta try. It's great, it's great. Yeah, we'll get three day cruise. There's nothing that would please me more than to pay a whole bunch of money to go on a cruise and then come down with something horrifying that has a liquid shooting out of every orifice in my body. Yeah, yeah, please, Where do

I sign up for that? Look? What are the odds? Look, you went to Pastathon and that was a super spreader event, and what happened. I got sick for nine days. That's what happened when I went to Pastathon. So what are the odds of it happening again? Pretty good? Why do you want to see me sick and or dead? Why? What have I ever done to you that you didn't richly deserve? Your horoscope when we come back is Later with mo Kelly camp I AM six forty. We're

or feelings is a matter of moving the body. For these lunar natives, running or doing a challenging exercise will do wonders for the mind, leading them with clarity and ways to move forward. Taurus Taurus moon natives are urged to revert to ritual comforts when emotions are running high or tensions are building. Retreating the self care is the best option. Whether it's a twenty minute nap, sleeping your favorite excuse me, steeping your favorite of tea, or doing a

moisturizing sheet mask. These small rituals will help out and get you back into ease. Gemini. For this Mercury ruled moon, communication is tea. You'll find safety in a community in or on online. If you feel comfortable recording your woes and posting it on social media, go for it. On that same note, scrolling through accounts that make you feel inspired, like travel or lifestyle content can't also help release stress. Cancer cancer moons have sharpened instincts about

what they need when a crisis crops up. If there's a hobby that brings you comfort, go do that, whether it's baking or going into a cocoon and watching rom coms. Because cancer is ruled by the moon, people with this placement will have a specific idea on how to nurture and take care of themselves. Leo moons are advised to lead with and live by the principle a play. Do something creative or an activity that lets your inner child play.

Think adult jungle gym or trampoline park, or even taking out those art supplies and making some new paintings. If all that seems too daunting, don't underestimate a good dance session. Turn on your favorite song and dance it out. Hey, Virgos, scrub your way to emotional satisfaction. That's the name of the game. Have you ever heard of stress cleaning? This was made famous

When I clean up, I clean up my mind as well. I'd like a decluttered atmosphere Libra and if fitting for the sign of partnership, Lunar libras are advised to seek out the counsel and company of others after first establishing consent, lean

The moon is said to be in its fall in the sign of Scorpio, and these lunar babies would do well to burn bright till the bad feelings are burned out. Plot your revenge. Kind of kidding. There are a

few ways this scorpio can relieve stress. One is with a consenting partner, if you know you know, And the other is taking a burning hot hotter than the sun's shower bath or finding a steam room and hanging out there for a bit. Crying not necessary, but let it out if it comes up. And if you feel called to do a combination of the two. And here's mine is Sagittarius. Sagittari's moons can mitigate life's highs and lows with detours

of the mental and physical variety. When things are rough, find a sweet escape, which can mean planning a trip or booking a flight at a moment's notice. Catch flights, not feelings right When the budget is tight, op for a low escape like reading a thrilling book or learning about a new subculture or esoteric philosophy to live by sounds kind of point Capricorn as the moon sign of the proverbial grind, Capricorn can get right by getting to work. to your favorite spreadsheet or list and start checking off boxes. Well, that should eat the stress away at a Capricorn moon, and as the feeling of losing control at least to the spreadsheet, you know all the variables. Finding ordering chaos is the only way a Capricorn moon can feel stable. After feeling unnerved, Aquarius Aquarius goes out and gets it out. Reach out to your greater community, similar to Gemini. If you feel safe posting your feelings,

do that. If not, find your most eccentric and different minded friend and ask them for their point of view. Well, that's not sad to Cherished, because iould never asked Mark anything. The more point of views. Aquarius moon gets the east here. It is for them to find different ways to look at their situation. Pisces, it's the domain of pain and poetry,
