This Is Later with Lee Matthews, The Lee Matthews Podcast more what you Hear weekday afternoons on the Drive. You know him from a lot of roles, Baz Lorman's Romeo and Juliet, Randy Meeks and Wes Craven's Scream with Steve Martin, and bow Finger with George Clooney in Three Kings. Jamie Kennedy's newest project is called Don't Suck and Jamie, I don't think it does. Thank you, sir. I appreciate. How are you? I'm good. I've only seen the previews, but I am intrigued. So color me a customer of

your new film, in which you play a stand up comedian. What's easier, Jamie Kennedy Getting slashed in a slasher film or stand up comedy? Ooh, getting slack and a slacker film is the first part? Yeah, I would say, probably send them coming. That's what. That's what, sir, what's his face used to say? Dying is easy. Comedy is difficult. It can be if you're not hating the right notes. Man, that audience will let you know. But the good thing is it's needed more than

ever, so people really either love it or they hate it. Well, this is an intriguing tale you tell in the movie Don't Suck, Jamie Kennedy's with Us. You play a stand up comedy a comedian who stumbles upon a young talent with a unique distinguishing characteristic. We find out that this young new

bile comedian is a vampire. And I've had a lot of openers, and I don't think I've ever had one, no, which is why the name of the film is Don't Suck. But what really is sun Yes, And what really I think is what I'm interested to see is the relationship that develops between your character, an old, seasoned stand up comedy pro, and this young vampire who wants to be a comedian. Yeah. I mean it's a great mix. And it's literally becoming a documentary because I'm like myself, a

seasoned old road dog who have done places. I've literally done bowling alleys. And then we have this young upstart, this phenomenon who is an Ethan bar and it's played by Matt Rice, who literally is now a young phenomenon. So the movie really is a documentary and he's really a vampire too, right, I never know, never know, got the skin for it. How did you get around transporting him from gig to gig when he can't go out

in the daylight? You know what great question? I would say that they say in the movie it's a myth, okay, and that we look up vampire lore and certain vampires. Really it's about the time of day for the sun that really messes him up. So yeah, that's believable, absolutely believable. What about if there's a club with a big mirror behind the bar, does anybody notice? He also he's reflection, he said, was a myth too. The plain Line movie, I forget, Okay, it's interesting,

but there is truth in other law for sure. Well, and then it's all worked into this film very very wonderfully. Name of the film is Don't Suck. Jamie Kennedy is the star. What experience did you draw upon to because I don't know that you've ever staked a vamp hire before? Have you never? Yeah? You know, I consider agents pretty much bloodsuckers, lawyers or bloodsuckers. I work in Hollywood, man, it's one big cup,

you know what I'm saying. I do, And a lot of experience to draw upon because you've you've been through the school of hard knocks to get where you are. Yes, I have. In fact, I was thinking about this the other day. I still live in Hollywood, California. I will not leave. I am. I'm a stalwart man. So I'm part of it. And then I refuse to leave, and so it's still standing.

But I've been through a lot. We have a saying in talk radio, Jamie Kennedy, the way to succeed in talk radio have a take on something and don't suck. So when I saw the title of this film, that's the first thing I thought of, that's beautiful man, it is, and it's like, that's what we want to do. Have an opinion, but try not to stuck about it. As a performer. As in life. Well, and I guess stand up comedy is the same. Be funny and

don't suck. That's all we can hope for, right Jamie Kennedy's with us. Don't suck is the name of the film. He's a stand up comedian who discovers a younger comedian to bring up into the world. And you have other comedians that guest star in this. Did I see that Caratapa has a cameo role. Carrat Top has a role, Russell Peters, Jimmy Walker, Jimmy Schubert, Matt Rice. I mean, there's just so many different legends than this, Kathleen Dunbar. It's just a fantastic group of all types of

comics and we're just lucky to be part of them. And you get to see him interact with a vampire comedian and it's a wonderful film. I hope you will catch it soon. Jamie Y plays in it. Don't Suck in theaters everywhere. And thanks for joining us today. Thank you for having me my friend. I really appreciate it.
