There. So the hit politics podcast Applying It Liberally is coming live to Brooklyn and guys, you do not want to miss them now. It's called one hundred Days Down and hosts and friends of Blox School, drest Us, Keisha Zolar, and Andrew Kimmler are recapping and reviewing the first hundred days of the Trump presidency. And it's going to be a party. And party guests include Aquila Hughes, Dylan Marin, and Alison Kilkenny, all going off on the Trump administration.

This is going to be the best. How could you even think of missing this political event? How could you think? Is that littlefield in Brooklyn? You know where it is on Wednesday at pm? You need to get your tickets online at Forever Dog podcast dot com. Come through, Apply it apply literally. My grandma and your grandma listening bad fun my grandma, Granda. I'm gonna say, on fine, it's about him. I go on date Jagmo, Ni yam. I have to take a deep breath, take it. You know

we're in a new city. This is seminal. This is a huge Not only is this the first recording session of a Forever Dog l A Trailblazers this is our first last culture in l A. Yeah, we're doing a string of EPs in l A. We've got some great guests lined up. And let me tell you, there's a lot of differences between Los Angeles and New York City. I don't know if you guys know this. Maybe you should get your pens and papers out later we'll go through them. But there's a debate to be had, absolutely

a debate that has not ever been tried. I don't think so, I don't think so what are your differences? You know what? No, I will say this. I noticed this. Two different people said mentioned, uh, Jurassic Park as a thing, and is that an l A thing? And you know what, they said it to my face because I think they were trying to like lure me in and I think I think they thought that Jurassic Park would be like a buzzword for me. But no, but it hasn't worked.

But it was our friend Amanda, who's like driving driving out since she was like, yeah, sometimes it just feels like Jurassic Park here, like with all the nature in the lashes, and Billy mentioned Jurassic Park, and Billy mentioned Drastic Park, but then Guy mentioned Drassic Park. Last name. So there's been more than two, there's been three. We this is the first time I've I've been here enough times to like know what the deal is, but this

is the first time I've continually heard this reference. L A is is less sna is less Orna, which is the name of the island right in the first park in Drassic World. In Draassic Park, I think it is l as Lost World. Guys, we have such a good guess. The sunshine is in the room. Come on, I mean, this actually is a moment in time and we'll get into it, but come on, you know, you know our guests place on the good place. I'm sorry I stepped

on that. It's okay. We're excited. We're so excited, you know, our guests as Gemma on Broad City, you know, you know, And guys, she's going to be in a new show. And we'll talk about this in a bed upcoming up that there's going to be even more. There's going to be even more to be gagged for. Oh absolutely, guys, Please welcome Darcy Carden. Boy. Wo I'm so you know how happy I'm so happy to be here that I like emailed you can we make it earlier because I

like want more time with you. And we actually got up early. We said to ourselves last night, like we should get up early, right, woke up A Welcome to l A. That's what we do here. But you know what, though, isn't that a real thing where it's just like and actually in New York. You know, it's become nicer weather for all of our l A listeners, Like, it's gotten nicer over there in New York. So Henry and I have started opening the window and sleeping with the window

open and also not closing the blind. I think that's a healthy way to wake up. Yeah, and you naturally wake up and you just feel happier. What's your what's your morning regimen? Now? Like? What is it? Yeah? It is? My husband Jason and I we were living in like kind of a cave of a place where we would really sleep in and it was super dark in our room. And then we moved to this place with all windows and light and sun and we wake up when the sun hits our damn face. So plus when our dog

like licks us awaked. Penny is the sweetest I can watch a Penny Instagram story. Thank you, And I'm glad because that's all I do is instagram her all the good. That's fine. I want it good, that's all I want. It's Penny content good. And you know, if you don't want to touch the screen, it moves past. Yes, that's the thing about social media is there's always more of It's not to say that we'd ever want to move on from Penny, but you could if you weren't feeling

Penny in that moment. Yes, yes, Um, I just want to say we've had listeners like quote unquote like thank us for pointing them in the direction of like brand videos, the instagrams or m of like certain guests work. But I want to say, and please watch the good Place in City, of course, but also go onto our seas Instagram watch all these Penny and check out Penny. Thank you so much she has. Let's absolutely be watching Penny all the time. She is, she is what we need

and she does make my life so much better. She's such a good girl. She's as would it mask you? Would it make you happy for tens of thousands of people to like all of a sudden, Like if you woke up one day and like, like, all of a sudden, your dog was a phenomenon. Would that make you happy or that freak you? I think it would freak me out. It's funny, Like I think of her as like a shy person, so I think she's she would be weird enough.

But I do like it a lot when like, um, we take her to this little daycare and when they like her, like I like it when like what you're saying right that you like her. That makes me very happy. Get fans like that. We had Beth Nowell on the show and like her children, so we talked about them on the podcast and then a friend of mine was like, I feel like like now I'm like a fan of her children, and I was like, that's crazy, Like should that be? Is that weird? Is that that social media bit?

That is what it is? But you sign a contrat when that's you can always be private? Yeah, and if you're not, you're getting watched. Yeah, you're getting watched for sure. So okay, real number, I I don't know number, rule number two or seventy. You're on social thank you. Wait, Darcy is like getting us back into the groove of naming rules and she even initiated that way. Yeah, you guys,

I'm such a fan of the goddamn pie. I know what, Yeah, I I see that you brought these candy cigarettes here, so I feel like, let's crack them open and let's let's do this, all right. So this is Darcy Carden on Lost Culture, Reascess and tip of the tip of the hat, the imaginary hat. Thank you so much, cheers our little sign. We should cheer. This is amazing and wow, and I one at home. If you guys happen to have candy cigarettes, this is the time. This is the

time when you get them out. What's the best practices for eating this? And knowing myself, I'm in a nipple app Yeah, but I'm happy that we have these. But I will say I thought they were the ones with the paper. These are just like sticks of chops. Yeah, and we're gonna eat it. It's gonna be great. But do you remember the ones with paper around and you could blow out and yeah, yeah, yeah, they were like

the state of the art ones. So it was exactly this, but there was paper and then I guess like powder in the paper, so when you blew out, you got a puff of smoke. And you were like six years old and you were like, I'm the fuck Yeah, I'm like a badass. Um okay, So did you do Jawbreakers when you were a little Like those jawbreakers that you licked and you get to the very colorful in for me,

I know them, but they're not for me. You think they're gonna be for you, and you're like you look at them and you're like, oh my god, that's a gag. I want that candy forever. And that's the thing is like you realize, like, wow, it really takes a long time to eat this. Also overrated candy apple. Oh, never been a fan, but I mean I've tried it. Interesting do you love? I know, you know what? It's not like an emphatic love. You can see you like in

caramel apples? I like caramel apples. Are you a gummy girl? I'm sorry, but what's the difference. So candy is like the red yes, and that was the one I always want to never had that one that that was like more my preference. And then the caramel apples, like is literally caramelized apples. We're talking about the lollipops, the ones that you find like pumpkin pickings, you know, pumpkin picks you know a pumpkin pick, you know a candy apple? Yeah, beautiful.

Oh my god, this is my dream This is my dreams. Also, were you guys the kind of kids that bit into your ice cream cones? Yeah? I was a savor. I would let my my siblings like chomp their ice cream up, and I would be like, I still have more. Wow, this is crazy, I still have like so much more of my ice cream. And they'd be like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Same deal with a blowpop, Like, will you just lick to the center? I guess no. I love that, like.

I love it when you like like like and then there's like a little bit of crunch around it and you get that crunch into the gun. We all have our different ways and methods. It's almost wrong enjoying them. Yeah, I was. I'm a biter, Okay, I'm like, I'm a person that's like with the cherry blow pop, I'm just like that like makes sense to me, and that's not that's great. That's also I'm a crazy person who eats ice. Oh, I like that idiot whose teeth are going to pay

for it? No, I think eating ice is fine, isn't it. I think it's so satisfying, is it? No, it's full on like like chalk chalk, chalk, sugar chalk. I broke up, I broke it in half. I'm sorry. No, no, no no, there's more to have or also never have. But I do want to see this as we're smoking your cigarettes. Yes, um, I listened to the podcast so much that your voices are in my head when I'm not listening to you.

Do you know who said that? We went into a friend last night, old friend from college and name and name, I don't know our great name. She's great, you would lovely she saw us. I mean we like it was an equal freak out, Like we freaked out saying it. So okay, so we should say where we saw her. So we went to Cafe Hotel, last hotel, Cafe Cafe Hotel. I mean take it into your think my name might

have been better. We saw the most amazing singer. And I want everyone this is the last cultures Culture podcast. I would be remiss if I didn't mention to Carrie Menolacus is this girl's name? And you got to check this girl out? Oh my god? Where we checking out? YouTube? Instagram? I guess all of it. She has some releases out on on year old un Yield Spotify, but apparently there's an album coming soon. And we saw her last night at Hotel Cafe and our friend Ryan Amador sang sang

back up for her a couple of songs. Great job, Ryan, shout out to him. But oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. So what the thing like, give me a um, like like Hady Perry dye. Perry was like able to sing beautiful shade, no shade she sings, but like just some like deep rich tones or something beautiful,

patient singing, you know what, emotional singing. And she she just really loved the audience and she did a cover of Chandelier and then she did a cover and she closed the show with, um, hallelujah, which excuse me, but you're doing covers of those you can sing. If you're doing cover those of those you should sing, and you

better say, you better nail it. You're not going to do a cover of Chandelier unless you can fun and if you do, kill yourself, and if you don't, I do want to just mention that, like I say, Katie Perry, and I feel like the insinuation there is going to be that like it's like this kind of poppy thing like belting, like you've never heard, the transitioning from the belt until the head voice like you've never heard, then like effortlessly going into her mask. Who is this woman?

And I let me tell you, you've never heard control like that? And also she sounds Greek sounds. What are the what are the Greek class names in your family? And well, Kara Janice is that Greek? Okay? I mean that's my grandma's last name. And then like further back, I don't know. I'll just say mine is Claridas beautiful, which is so dangerously close to Clara even just said differently. I mean that's l A R. It is for all

in time, very sex. But um, And my mom's first name is Katrina and her sister's name is Christina, so they were Katrina and Christina Claritas. Wow. And that's Long Island. That's Long Island. Continent salad Um Guy's rule number one thousands. Check out Carrie m A n O L A k oh say, which I really could have seen Matt's eye brought this when he did that down up down up down like that song an Empire. I'll go up down,

up down, up down. Anyone's still watching Empire? I haven't good. Um. But anyway, we ran into our friend Emma and she she turned back and this is this is just us pointing this out, and this is truly remarkable. How she said the same thing that Darcy saying that our voices. She's like, we're like in her internal monologue in a way, because that's an internal dialogue or trialogue or whatever, you know what I'm saying. So that's that's crazy. So Darcy, yes,

we're so sorry we've burrowed into your No. I love it. I love it, and I'm just so happy for you guys. That what a success your live night of I don't think so as well. So I introduced my sister Miranda, Miranda to UM. We listened to it together and we were really into it. Um. I was like driving around l A with a smile plastered. We want to do one in Los Angeles. We want to must because I really feel like it could be so fun. Would you yeah, I would. I would. But let me just tell you something.

And I love l A. I love living here. I'm so happy to live here. But it will never touch how good that was in New York and New York has an energy. I mean, you know this, this is like we were saying, this is this is an age old like not even debate. It's like the energy, the energy of a live show in New York is not to be compared to We're so this will be my

first time ever doing a show in l A like tomorrow. Well, by the time you'll already of this, like we'll have done Ethnic Realness that used to be Sunset, which Phone is hosting with Oscar, great people on it, and then we'll have done a show at uc B Franklin with Paparulette our sketch group on the eighth. But then you guys listening this to this can still come um at UCB Sunset popular Lette is going to do our show.

And this will be the first time I'm performing here, and I'm very anxious to find out what it's like. It'll be great, It'll be great, and I and I perform it used to be every week and I love it. But yeah, asked how my team search history, which I love. But there is this like energy about a live show in New York, especially a crazy kind of like weird show like that, Like I did this show called Gentrify is still there and love it, but we started in Brooklyn.

I feel like, would you guys do it the Lyceum, that's right? And I feel like, um, yeah, there's just this like we couldn't do that show in l A. It just was or maybe we could. Maybe I just don't know the indie scene as well here, but it's

a different it is a different vibe. But oh my god, Matt and I first time I ever saw Darcy card and side Car was when she was inside car was called car but I hear, which means it was a restaurant that Henry and Sidecar was the three boys and m A. D Was the three girls and together we were not yeah that's what it was, but you guys hosted Backguard Brawl back when Matt Rogers used to perform. I was in Cats and we were in background brawl like many I do remember that, and I also we're

seeing Michael Harney around that. And then later like years later, like like recently, I went up to her names like we've never met, but um and he he didn't know who I was from Hammer before. But I just remember like feeling so annoying because we were like literally ten or eleven running around and being nineteen. It was like, do we belong here? But you guys kept winning and winning and winning. Yeah. It was st Oh my god. Just seeing Darcy, I was like, who is that young woman?

She is beautiful talent. Oh my god. But it was, oh god, I we just love you, Darcy. You guys, I love you. That's nice, Thank you, We love we love Who does ask? Cat in l a In l a Um Tarver Tarvar does it a lot? To tarvar Um? You know, Mary Holland, Zach Woods does it like almost every weekend, Joe Winger um Um, Lauren Lacus, Betsy Sara you know, Las does it a lot? Yeah, Laps does It's amazing And Kim Booster did molog I met him and it was great and truly thanks to the show,

thanks to the pod. I listened to his epp, I fell in love. I reached out on Twitter and said, come do the show and then he did it. We're here to give young talents at platform. Yeah. I think he did it in New York too, so I'm not trying to claim he did do it recently. He now he now he's He's probably one of the few Bike Coast. That's a gag too. I I went and watched study give the model and I and you were there and I was and then it was just so funny. I was like, the trust me, I am the same, and

you do it. Yeah, well, I used to be the first in line. I would be there. I would be there, like the point was to be the first in line because I wanted like the seat that I wanted. And yeah, and I don't know how you guys, I it's it's get It gets weird when you start thinking about like I guess how long it's been or something. Also, and

this is like real deep cut Darcy role. Like you did an episode of Long Form Conversations years ago and I listened to it as like a we post we baby, and I was like, and then you ended the episode just by saying, um, you guys, we are so lucky to do this. We're so lucky to do this. And I was like, I'm tapping on the table. I'm sorry. Um,

you were like, We're so lucky to do this. And then that, for some reason really hit me and I was like, wow, yeah, like this is for all the ship that we go through to like do this and like and and and tolerate like it's it's just wonderful. It's a blessing. I'm thanks for telling me that. But I still, yeah, I still feel like that. I still feel like, you know, it was easy to kind of get in their heads about what we're doing, or also to get used to what we're doing and want the

next thing or whatever. But sometimes it's like I like to look back. I like to look back, like two years, five years, ten years, and whenever, especially when I'm like I'm not where I want to be or where it's fun to go. Oh but if you told ten years ago Darcy pretty stoked, it was stoked. I'm just no, but I actually am just thankful to walk into you see, being not feel like I'm gonna show up. Yeah. Yeah.

I used to walk into that place and the smell of it, you see, be in New York has a very distinct smell, and I'd walk in and that smell I would associate it with just like total total and I was always like, oh my god. And now to walk in there and feel like, oh no, I like like this is being exactly It's fun. I don't know. I got a lot of love for the place for the place I have to facilitate. Oh my god, Darcy, I've been cutting my face and I know what you're

gonna do this conversation. I know this. I don't know about you. I told us. I was like, oh, like, I'm god, I'm so excited for Darcy's episode tomorrow. And then I told Matt did you know? And this is a new information to him, and he's so excited to talk about Darcy is an alumna of the Ride to this day. To this day, you guys have to share compared Oh my god, No, it's wild so that you

just don't talk about it on the show. I didn't know that I did a bunch, but like I never say, like it's the Ride, Yes, yes, my tour guide job that I had. Yeah, And I didn't know that you did it. So I don't mean to um we should host together. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but I will say that Tim Dunne and I kind of like started it, and Scott and Jackie and I don't mean we started it, came up with the idea, but it was a weird do you guys know Tim Dne?

Love him, Tim, Yeah, And it was just a weird thing. Like we auditioned and for those of you who don't know, the ride is like I want to say, like an interactive tour through. It's like amoy, fun interactive tour bus. And it's kind of the best thing, and it's kind of the fucking worst thing, right, it's like amazing, and yeah,

oh my god, I got it. Anyway, we could talk about this forever, but but Tim and I got We auditioned for it, and we I think we auditioned in a pair, and we were sort of like best friends and comedy partners and everything. So we got along with the people immediately, and they were like, great, you're in. By the way, we don't have a script. We don't have we don't know who to cast. And we were like, wow, let us take care of everything. And we were We

invited all of our UCB friends. They paid us so much money in the beginning, so much money to kind of like sit around and come up with ideas. Yeah, I mean, so much money. What a weird thing to say. But for you know, we were like used to twelve dollar and hour jobs and this was like in the thirties an hour. I don't even remember whatever it was, we were like, we want to do this forever. But then as maybe it was in the fifties, whatever it was, they started lessening and lessening it in the um and

and it was great. It was great, but it was also you know, it's hard. It's after a while, it gets really hard because like you repeat yourself again and

again and again. Like the other day, I had I worked a lot there before we came out here because just wanted to make and so someone, the girl I was hosting with said something, and then after she was done, I said the same thing, because you're kind of I'm sometimes that I almost feel like you can't do it again and again and again and again and give them the good experience anyway, especially in a row. I would

do a bunch in a row. Yeah, so that interested me, Like, did you guys make up there's a joke where where everyone gets on the bus and you're like, okay, guys, safety first, you gotta put on your seatbelts and there's no seating. Yeah, that was that was original. I don't know, like not to say I wrote it, but that definitely was like from our originals status. So oh my god, it gets him every time still you should know it's still that is so funny that it was like it was,

you know, that's another thing. And not to like not to compare to UCV or anything, but when I say like like we were not to say we were lucky to do that, but it was like a fun job that we got to sort of like improvise, Yeah, in the streets of New York with our ends. It was a performing job. It was like it was so easy to roll our eyes at. But also I remember always being like, what would you rather be doing? I mean, sure, being on a set, being on Broadway or something like that. Yeah,

but like you're not working in a restaurant. You're not like, you know, it was very fun. It was like it was one of those ones where you just had to correct your mindset to be like, no, this is fun, just have fun with Yeah. I always try to in mind myself, like because I sigmultaneously right now I'm waiting tables and doing that, and so like I'm just like, and you know, the one is a lot more money. But then sometimes I will just rather do that because at least I feel like in some way I'm using

my brain, whereas like when you're waiting tables. It's like it ain't that like when you're ten years in which no, I was just gonna say, like just for you, like on a legacy level. It's like the fact that your jokes are still like heading and honestly done love to Tim done love, I didn't know what Tim done words at the rock and then and then you look back and it's like a lot of people. I think Lauren Adams Lauren ad Yeah, and I think Brian FoST told me that he like trained to do it and then

got motion sick on the rock. I feel like I remember that that that there were some people that couldn't handle the facing forward. Somebody else got sick. Oh yeah, I had a lot of fun with like Justin Tyler did it. There were also certain people. There were certain people that you were like, you'd get your schedule and you'd be really excited to do it with, and others where you're like, yeah, I guess I've given shifts up. Yeah me too, sneakily switched with someone, Yeah me too.

I literally want to oh this is I hope it won't listen, but I literally once time emailed the manager and I was like, I have to be on this bus at least fifteen minutes earlier, because um, I just I just have to, I just have to. Did they understand I do think so much of it is about chemistry that it has to be like we just don't drive. They put me with my friend Christie Shaffleford a lot was didn't she do in one of the fifty? Yes, yeah she did Juliet really fucking funny about the haircut

and she's like, what do you Yeah. I will say my favorite line from any of them that night was well, now, of course I can't remember it, but it was something

like I just really hate Mark Ruffalo. Oh yeah, she wanted to talk about Mark Ruffalo, and of course she picked the trollball and she got Olivia Newton John and then some way like halfway through, she just was like, I just really hate I geged I think I will say and not and this is not a favoritism thing, but my favorite line, I mean it is my favorite line of the night was Heartney. And just to close down the entire night, if I wanted to listen to Kevin,

what was it? If I wanted to listen to Oh, if I wanted to listen to Kevin space and make it up for two hours. I'd ask him about the women he's fucked and that was it, right, that was like the end. Yeah, that was great man. He relish that he's fucked. In my mind he did a spin into the splits and that like listening to it, I should have been a full death drop. Work on it, Michael. And the other thing I will say about the ride is that we used to oh my god, this is insane,

because I'm positive you guys don't do this right. We kissed, we had a love story. There was a love story involved. I love that where the where like the audience would like, we would oh my god, it was so weird, okay? Is it okay? So in the beginning, Jackie and Scott Scott, in the beginning of it, we say, why do eight point five million people live here in New York? What do over sixty million people visit us every year? And

why were those people here? Are we still single? And then everyone's like, it's like the funniest thing I've ever heard. And then sometimes if you choose to make it like this, you can like I'll sometimes play like, well, you know, Jackie, I I don't think you should be single. I think you're crazy, you know, I think that anyone would be lucky to do with you, and then like later on you could connect it to and it depends on the host. Sometimes they'll be like I love you. One time I

fully proposed to Christie. I was like, Jackie, I'm sorry I have and it was like the whole was like, oh, we would do this thing where we'd have to like sneak by excuse me, excuse me, part of excuse me, part of me, part of me, and to get to the middle and then we'd kiss. Yeah. I don't even remember. We did so much like beta testing and like like rehearsals. I don't even remember if we did it with a real audience, but we definitely. I definitely kissed every boy

used to be because of that. That is insane. I love kissing. Kissing is so funny, you guys. But if I want to get to kiss, Nanny just sinto on the Yeah, Lucky, your eyes wide open. That's so funny. It was so funny. I was like, you to be a lot a lot of hot dudes, I know, I know, yeah, around a lot of hot dudes. Yeah, yeah, I know, husbands hot hot. Yes, I love a hot two stars on all shows Hot and look down to Hot. He

lives we lived together. We didn't really be in Jason and Policia living the duplex together, so I can just go upstairs, given kiss, come back down. God, I love kissing rule And honestly, this might be out there Ted dancing, Oh, I mean, my god, real though, I mean I actually can't quite get like when I okay talk about when I like watch Yeah, I mean I'll spill whatever t because there's nothing to spill over than the fact that

he's the best. But like now, knowing him so well, I literally do think of him as my best friend. But knowing him so well and then going back and watching Cheers reruns obviously we runs like what is his look? He is insanely hot in his own way the most like almost like an untouchable hot. It's so confident and like different and it has kept it really has. He

is a stunner. Yeah, him and his wife Mary. I was going to ask, truly, speaking of hot that holds out, I mean, I'm intimidated to even talk to her because she's like this this glowing beauty um, and I don't need to be intimidated because she's so down earth and cool. They really are like there, um you. I don't want to say goals because who says that, but you know what, that's fine. I would say he is so amazing. She's the main event to me, like he would love to

hear that. We honestly, we have a friend whose parents are Kevin Bigon and Cias Edgwick and Ciris Edgewick is the main I love that she's the main event to me. Where it's like I could like see Kevin Bigan and be like, oh my god, that's cool. Cis Edrick came in, I'd be like, okay. By the way they both plip their heads back with their hands in their now. Kevin did ask at one time when I got to do it,

and he was amazing. But afterwards Kira came back and I was, God, have you ever seen the movie Heart and Souls? Bitch? Yes? I love it. I love it, and not just because I know you just talked about it with Rachel Bloom on the podcast and said that rule number something Alfred. Yes, but it is such a good movie and you described it really well because it's a family favorite of mine, My family's favorite one of ours.

We definitely have the You would watch it all the time, and but I think if someone asked me to explain it, I would have You're you're well, you guys are both very eloquent. You know how to put a sentence together? Can I tell you what? When an insecurity of minus what? Sometimes I'll listen back to this and I'll be like, and there it is again. I just say the word like and but it's just it just makes me feel dumb, as if I'm not using my vocabulary. Yeah, I know,

I know. I just had to correct myself. You know, it's not our fault. I mean, I guess we could once you are aware of it. It's like, well yeah, but also like, who's like the insane person is the one who's counting the number? You're right, but sometimes you meet someone that doesn't say it, and it's pretty impressive. But I mean, I say it's so much. I say it so much, and when I hear myself back, it does make me feel dumb. But listening to the PC podcast,

it doesn't bother me. I love it. I obviously eat it up. I want more and more and more and more, so get over. I'm very happy. That it feels conversational and not as if you're listening to a total morons. No, no, no, no, I feel like the moron. Sometimes I can't even think. Sometimes we all feel like we're okay, they're both sobbing right now. One single tier all done the center of my face, like Demi Moore and Ghosts and mine was the single tier, like Sandra and Grays and we love

oh my god, Grays. And actually Graye has been coming up a lot on the ride. All right, So I've been doing this thing now where we scan the Central Park. So the ride has scanners and it can shoot out layers onto the streets with this thing. All right, so it's like but no real lasers, right, I mean, well, it's like bring it's like subject Central Park and it comes back and it says, um, things you can do

in Central Park. Shakespeare in the Park, My favorite Shakespeare play, Shakespeare Quota is like to swim to dive into the five to ride and I my joke is I go the Merchant of Venice and it says the tempest. Oh that's my joke. Is you know, in America, we don't

have Shakespeare. We have Shanna rhymes and they're like, and then we do like a Gray's Anatomy, like back and forth, like Christie and I always get into Gray's Anatomy of course, and we talk about it like for like too long and Carnegie Hall passes by some no no, yeah, now look a busker. Oh my god. But anyway, like speaking of shows, we laugh. Yes, Terrible Babysitters do really well. We both have crushes on Michael the world should have a crush on I have a full crush on him. Act.

But we've watched every episode together. Is that is so cute and thank you very much. That was That was like the first thing I want to say. I know that was the first thing I've ever written, but it might have been the first thing Michael did too. We were on a Harald team together and we were yeah, we were like we had that mutual love thing where we were just like, I can't get enough for you. Yeah, I just loved him so much. I mean I still do, and he and so we just kind of talked ourselves

into let's just write something together. And it was a great experience, the best and it's so funny than you feels different and new. Do you remember in Greece when um Marty says he's the living and yeah, I referred to Michael Cannis still living in and Henry loves him too, right love. Yeah, and they have a nice, nice relationship too. Because Michael did the My boyfriend hosts a fabulous variety show with Brandon Scott. Joan just texted him on the

way here. Oh my god, I was doing this. You know, he's very excited. But they host the show together called a Little Night Music when Night or something. Yeah, midnight's like once a month and comedian's USB comics go and they sing, and he did the first one and he did rent and he was beautiful. He's out of control.

He's so talented. Yeah, and then shot in O'Neil. I saw her like a couple of weeks later at something and she was like, you know, sometimes for fun, I'll just tell people that he went to Juilliard said, oh, yeah, of course. Yeah, he's um, he's yeah, He's definitely one of my favorite people on earth. He's so so, so talented. And Papaganti directed that he did. I am. I've been texting with Paul Lot this week too, because my son and love of my life Harry Styles is on us

this week. Okay, so let's chat for a sun, shall we? Or shall I don't know about the song because I'm not guy. That's okay, that's okay. I don't think it's

meant to gag. It sounds like a song that would be performed on the Next Factor audition where they're like, I'm really nervous to be here, but it's going to be a big opportunity for me, and here we go, I'm like really attracted and then like the like the like chords start and they're just all sitting there and like the judges are sitting there waiting to see is it's going to be good or bad, and it's good and they all go, like the audiences to start from

the second it begins. That to me is a song that will be performed at talent show television shows forever. I hear you a lot, I hear what you're saying, and yes, it probably will be yeah, but that still I mean the thing, the weird thing about one direction And for the listeners at home, I'm I'm as big as they come, Brandon Scott Jones, and I as big and as hard as Brandon Scott Jones and I are are gigantic One Direction fans and have been for like

half a damned decade. Now, it's insane. How the show? Did you watch them? On the show? Did we watched them? We watched them after the fact on the show, okay, they meaning they were on X Factor, and then we we The first time either of us saw them was on SNL, which was Kate McKinnon's first show, Sophia Regard was hosting. And they yeah, they did that that that

new Tradina commercial. Right, that's right. And and and at the time, my husband worked there, and Chris Kelly worked there, and Sara Schneider and some you know, some of my best friends. And I went to see the show and and um, I didn't know who they were. And then I saw them and I and I it was like a fucking hammer to the face. I was like, what is this? And why do I feel this way? You feel yourself left off your Yeah, it was insane. I didn't understand how what was making me feel this way?

And it makes you feel crazy? It made no sense. Was there any precursor to that? Like with and sank actor boys, great question. I mean I did as much as the next guy like love all those bands, but I didn't. The difference is this, I didn't give a shit about them, right, I was like, oh, this is a fun song, or like I'll even buy the album, or I saw them in concert a few times, but I didn't give a shit about And I didn't care about their parents or their birthdays. Are they're like, you know,

inner relationships with each other. I did not care. But with these guys, it was like I I I have more information about them. I mean, favorite, what is your favorite? Well, it's hard to explain. I hate picking a favorite son, but it is Harry. It is Harry. I just yea. I instantly when I went like this first time that I saw them, I remember being like, I know who they all are, and that weird, little quirky, quiet one Harry, which turns out he wasn't that. I'm like, I like

the weird one. Nobody's gonna like him. He's weird in a different one. But then he's obviously the world's favorite, I think. And isn't it funny how Zane is pretending he's the world's favorite. But I mean, let's not, let's not. Let's watch it, okay, honey, let's but do you get Zanes face and personality? So excuse me, I do get Zanes. Listen for me. It's like what I'm not getting with with any of them is like I want very badly

like that, like cheeky British pop star. I want the pop star with a sense of fu Robbie Williams that we never got. Don't you wish we got the Robbie Williams? Isn't it crazy that we didn't happen like such a huge star in England, like the biggest world over. Yes, and just didn't a couple of songs connected with America? But why didn't we Like we missed out. We fucking missed the boat on Robbie Williams. And it's on us. Yeah, I don't think so, honey, it's you know, it's it's

it's up to I don't think so, honey. It's up to it's up to America to pick up what the UK is putting down. And there's so much good stuff. And just so you know, Harry is hilarious and cheeky and all the things you're saying. When as he's end up doing the solo thing, you'll see it all. But yeah, yeah, he's and I do find him like powerfully attractive and that and that that, and I think he'll be around right, and I think the song will do well. Right, It's

just not you. It's just not my thing. You know who? I love Sean Mendez who you know? I want doll Sean. Yeah, that is a good song. And actually, as the year has gone on, his voice is like deepened a little bit and and it used to be like a little um like puberty ish, and now he's kind of like and he's got he's got crazy vocal control too. Where

did he come from? He's I think he started uploading videos on YouTube one of those and then became like YouTube celebrity allowed Justin Bieber, but in a different lah um Sean. I like him and he's a real musician. This is gonna sound weird. Okay, what is his name? Who's the kid with the half an eyebrow a chair? No he is. He's sang like um okay, okay, maybe like a fast and furious song with wait wait wait yes,

who's that guy? Oh yeah, Charlie Puthum what. I heard him on the radio the other day and he has a great voice, and I was like, I think he sounds like Matt Rodgers. Is that possible, you know? I mean, I'm telling you your voices in my head all the time. I think I was, so maybe I was just thinking, here's my here's here's my biggest life. For gret I was too young for the boy brand craze when it started,

and I'm too old for it now. Okay, honey, But if that had happened when I was sixteen seventeen, I would have sold my and I would have sold my whole and then imagine that I would have grown up in Orlando, your favorite place. Now, are you saying that you are sad that you weren't in a boy band. I'm sad that I wasn't an internationally successful boy So for the better saying that as if it was like gonna be a given if you had, I would have willed.

I would have willed it to happen. Okay. Then crossover into comedy like you know, justin Timberlan. I mean, it's so it's so rare that like someone comes out on the other side in like an okay way. So I think you're doing just fine, and we don't even know if that's true. Or you can end up like Joey for Tone with his kid on his shoulders at Disney work. That's actually sounds adorable, right, that's great. I was in Universal, like every week you were in Universal. This isn't this funny?

This is where the story happened. I was in Universal study of Florida. It was New Year's Eve, okay, and this second or third time in a Rome. My family did this. We did in Orlando New Year's Eve. That's cute, loved it. Would rather do anything than not. But Joey for Tone is just in the crowd, Joey for Tone with his wife and his daughter. No one gave and I was like, excuse me, like this is one of the biggest icons of the last like twenty five years, and no one came. Did you waite Broadway? I did?

And Rent? I want to say, as Seymour, does that sound familiar? No? I might be wrong. I might be no, No, no, yeah, I think I did. I think it did. My mom saw him in Rent and she was she was on the phone he was Mark and so who was he in Rent? I mean, but kind of who was he? Right? I can't even My mom was on the phone with her friend who she was going with, and they had really good seats and I'll never forget my mom goes, we're gonna be able to pitches, but mommy rogers on that,

Than get back and we're going to find out what culture influence young Darcy Cardon. And this is the first

time that's ever happening. After right back with Darcy. Now listen up. We've got for you today, a little bit of an offer for you, the listeners of Last Culture Asta. Yeah, And you're not obligated to purchase the glasses after you do this trial. Either it's do you like them? Well, then now you have the option to buy them, And I think, I think this is an

amazing premise for a movie. It's called Five Days, Five Days, and it stars and Hathaway, and Hathaway, who orders a five day home tryon for Warby Parker glasses, doesn't know whether or not she will purchase them because the obligation

is not there. But then by the end of the five days, she realizes she's all in love with all the glasses and she will purchase all five And there's a scene where Um, on Friday, which is the end of her trial, she's put them in the mail to send them back, and there's an emotional scene where she runs to the post office and she talks to the postal worker who's played by guile Garcia Burnell and um his boss who's played by Laura Dern, and she says,

open that package, open that package, and she they do open the package for her, and she takes the glass and she takes them home. And you know how she ordered them. She went to Warby Parker Trial dot com forward slash last Culture and I'm going to say that one more time. And we're back with Darcy Carden. We should just we should get this out there.

Um listen, we have to ask you the question that we ask all of our guests, which is really supposed to a start a discussion, but we've just went Um you guys, here's the question, dars, what is the culture that influenced you to step in a cultural direction? What made you say culture is for me? Now, this is a great question, and you would think that I have like a great answer as since I'm such a fan of the show, and I do every time you you

I listened to the show. I think about this like what is my what what made me think culture is from? It's not an easy question. Is not an easy question. I think the best the best answer is like my family, So let me, let me explain. My family was really into music, and I mean popular music and rock and roll and really into musicals. Okay, music in the house, music in the house, and yeah, my mom and dad

owned a rock and roll magazine, which is cool. So we were really into They really took music seriously and so are sort of identity. Was like as kids, my sister Lanny, my brother Will and my sister Miranda and I we like to like to impress our family. It would be like how much do you know about music? And how you know? Like you have to you have to know everything about music. Our Our mom would like quiz us all the time in the car, like who's singing,

who's playing bass? Who produced this? And like, you know, Partney was telling me about this. I was I was like, we have Darcy on in l A. And he was like, ask her about her family. Her parents like ran this magazine. It was a competition in the house among the children to see who the producers behind who did like yeah, oh my god, whatever, And that kept up in your life like and weirdly, weirdly, Jason's parents, especially as dad Jason, my husband, Hello Jason. He's never listened to a podcast.

I've ever been on, so he's not listening to this, but we love him. Imagine if you found out that he was like a huge fan of this show. That's particular one. I mean, I've certainly talked about you guys enough so he knows we have like three straight male fans. Jason would be a fan for sure. If you listen to podcasts he listens to, like, um history podcast, Yeah, I get it, you get it. Yeah, yeah, I listen to fun fucking dumb mass podcast. Yeah. I love comedy. I love I love to just smile in my car.

I don't want to take a class. I need to laugh yet and I don't want to be scared. Sorry, I don't want to listen to the Manson Files or whatever. Thank you anyway, So so sorry Jason. Jason love him? Oh why do not even know? He was also music family, where it was kind of like status was like how much you know? Yeah? So, um, yeah, my my, do you remember your first concert? Oh? Yeah, what was it? Lewis in the you are kidding me? And oh my god, my mom goes to see him almost every year. I

grew up with that music. Sort is a great album rock and rolls Now, I hope I don't want to like brag, but so my parents and the Huie's, you know, like that band. They kind of like came up together in the Bay Area scene. So, um, we like my parents, they're friends with them. So my first concert we like, okay, so I think I was five. I was probably too young to go to like a rock and roll concert. And my dad tells the story in a way where I'm like, did this happen? But sure, you know what

I mean? Yeah exactly, So apparently, you know, I do remember going to the concert and we my family was really into his music. And then apparently we went backstage afterwards to tell your mom about and um, people like couldn't hue wouldn't come out of his dressing room or something because he felt like he had a bad, bad show. He was just taking like a moment for himself. And

then they were like, where's Darcy? Where darcyco? And then all of a sudden, I come out of Hughie's dressing room holding his hand and he was like, she cheering me up. Now did this happen? I don't know, but that is believe it. At least something like that brought Huey back from the dead from the listen. I want to say something about Huey, and I don't want to hurt I don't want to hurt the ears of any

of our listeners. But I recently was online and it was like fifteen celebrities you didn't know have huge dicks, and he was on that list. Apparently it's like a fucking telescope. How would we even know that? Like, how well, you know, people talk, People talk, honey, people talk. Some people have been in the dressing room churning them up.

Then they hit the web. That's not the inuation. Some little five year old Darcy's see us dick and then they come out and they tell everybody you don't remember that you also, no, I'm just saying he was on this list of like celebrities of huge I can see that. Yeah, yeah, I can see that. I can see that. And Jared Leto apparently apparently it's a boa construction I doubt, but no shade, no shade. But also what a crazy person? Also, who cares about a huge dick? I mean a huge dick.

I would say a huge dick. That makes me a b I mean no, oh, my god makes the title. Well, we'll be intos about it. But no, that's freaking amazing. Okay, So it was a music household and did your because I sometimes think that the love of music, in the love of comedy is like a hand yeah. Um, even like I think, like, I think that's true. So at what point did you become aware that you were funny or had a sense of humor and that was going to be a large part of your That's a great question.

I mean I think that I always remember like having like trying to sort of impress my aunts and uncles with being funny, like being sort of ad and funny. They're all were very funny, still are very funny, And yeah, I think a joy of my life was like being able to hang with my uncle's sense of humor, you know what I mean. I mean, so that I think was I think making adults laugh, making teachers laugh. Was when I was like, hmmm, I like this, I like

the way this feels. And then like you know, as I don't know, I mean, I didn't necessarily know that I wanted to do comedy. Although I was obsessed with comedy. I was obsessed with stand up and SNL and I loved everything about comedy and I was always drawn to like the comedic parts of the like the role in the movie or whatever that I was watching. But I didn't know. I knew I didn't want to be a stand up so I was like, well that's out. I'll do Shakespeare instead, or you know, like I'll be an

actor actor. You don't even know that they're like. For example, when I was in high school, it's crazy to me when people said they did in Providence, because I'm like, how how was that? Did you know? What? You know? I know, I know that. I mean, seeing askat was the first time. I mean, you know, of course we'd all seem like whose line and stuff like that, but you don't even know what that is. And I wouldn't exactly.

The college that I went to in Oregon was very very like Shakespeare and and kind of like plays, you know what I mean, Like not a lot of comedy, and we definitely didn't do improv. So the first the first show that I saw at UCB was Asked Cat, and I truly was it was that moment that people have where it was like you can we can do that?

Oh my god, I have to do that. And this is after you had a b a Um, yeah, okay, so you had gone through all that training without even knowing that it probably was like, yeah, the one I took one class in college that was like comedy centric. That was like but we were wearing like red noses. It was like comedia. Yeah exactly. But even that it was me and all guys, and it was that it was like I was trying to figure out, like what

the math was. I mean, I don't mean about I mean like about the math of timing and all that stuff. And I was like, I think I like this, but again, I guess I'll be the the funny part in the Shakespeare play, right, that is, that's very interesting, But it's so funny to me that people have a vocabulary for that stuff when they're But it's so I mean, it's cliche like, but like the paths are all different, but

but we all end up in the same place. I fucking did short form in high school, and I thought I was like nailing it, but in reality it was just like a fucking sixteen year old doing short How funny can that be? But it was definitely giving you some sort of like and so communication skills through you know, like figuring out what you're all what and what I was and what I like to do as a performer.

And then this like obsession with improv, like going into college, like even as a as a chemistry major, it's like I have to do this here. Once you figure it out, you get obsessed with it. I mean I used to. I didn't even know that I wanted to do it. I think it became aware to me, but I my welcome week of college, my ra was like, and we're all, if you want to Jack Moore he was my freshman, ye're r a he's now a writer, um, and he was like, we're all going to go wait for Saturday

Night Live in the standby line. And so we did it, and I was for some reason in my heart I knew. I was like I have to actually be get in there. And they got to us, and there was this is such a bad one that I did this, but like it was, they were calling in the standby line and I remember I was number thirty one and they were they called in thirty people and they we have room

for one more. And I looked back at everyone that I was with and I was like, it's the right thing for me to go back with you guys, but like, I'm sorry, I have to go. Did you say that? I know? I was just like you was just just like walked in the elevator. I was like, I have to go see this. There's something, there's something about So then I went up. I'm kid you not. I sat next to Emma Stone in the audience. The audience. She's with her boyfriend at the time, Teddy Geiger. Oh my gosh,

remember him for you. For Anne Hathaway's episode, it was James Franco and Kings of Leon and it was the first time that Kristin Wick had ever done The Lawrence Welk Show and Bobby moyne Hand's first episode that was and he did of of Mice and Men the thing um and I just was like, oh my god, wait, hold on a second, like now I understand, Like I just didn't want to leave the room when it was over, I was like, this is like what absolutely like what

I have to pursue? And then I literally got home and sat on my bed and like I was like so depressed because I was like, now I know what I want to do, but there's literally no way to do to I was like, who do I I literally said I was I think I had heard someone had done this before. I was like, as a workshop for myself, let me just type into Google the name of the person that I admire more than anyone in the world,

and it was Amy Poehler. Typed in Amy Puller and like just went through her Wikipedia and I saw you and then I immediately signed up. Damn. I love that. I love those moments where you're like, oh, this is it. It just felt like and then I went every week coated on the standby line every week, so now like whenever like sus like I would just and then I got in the next week was Anne Hathaway and the Killer and then like you know, I did I did

it so many times. And so now when it's like my friend my best friends, right, it's like such a totally total What was the aftermath with with your floor matsyah? Great question. Yeah, if they didn't understand they're dead, they were salty, but like I didn't care. I had had this moment that moved me so deeply and I was just like, I just don't care what you guys think. And I think I knew in my heart, like we're not going to be Yeah, I was just about that.

I was like, that's okay, yeah, okay, and I feel like, yeah, it was just I just felt like it was important for me to go. And that is when I realized I want I wanted to like that's awesome, I love, but it was it was. It wasn't this thing of like when I was young. So I understand when people are like, yeah, I have a hard time answering that question. Is whenever anyone's like, what are your communic influences, it's like, I don't. I know, it's kind of all over the place.

It's yeah, certain actors and performers. But then also like my uncle Bruce, right, it doesn't have to be this like a camp counselors like I jive with this comedy. I want to do that, right. It's not like, yeah, I hate like the genealogy that you have to like pull out of yours every time someone asks you, like, um, Steve Martin, it's not the Simpsons. My answer is not the Simpsons. I know that yours is. Yeah, there's so many things. There's so many things, but look at us. Here.

We are here, we are here, we are here, We are in l a sitting at an orange Table, smoking candy step Wait, Darcy, can we talk a good place? Oh my god, we just were such a good show. You. I was so excited because you were on it. And then also I love christ and Belt I do too, Austin. I love her like, I genuinely think that she's such a story and I loved her since well not since Veronica Mars because like it. But when everyone made such a fuss about her on Veronica Mars, I was like, Okay,

let me figure this out. Her and Amanda's ifread they play best patents. And then the whole first season is her murder. It's so oh my god. Wait, I don't think I knew she was on that Amanda right after me. It was it was such a good maybe before or after that. It's so good, guy, I know that's I hear that we should check it out. Yeah. I think I fell in love with her on for Getting Stry Marshall.

I think that was when I was finally like, she's a big accessible movie that I can see, Like she is so funny and she's so smart, and like, I can't there's not enough words good words to say about her. She's a badass. She really is she kind of is like the definition of a badass when it comes to like she's smart, she's funny, she's down to earth, she's cool, she's a great mom, she's she's political, she's just she's everything. And she's very generous and warm and like inclusive and

I love her. Oh my god, that's the best relief. It's you know what. I'm going to give all the props to Mike Sure who created the show, because it feels insane that the cast is so lovely. There's not like a bad seed. And and and actually I didn't even say the cast, the writers, the crew, it's like everybody. And also we just came back to the second season and everybody was kind of like I couldn't wait up.

I couldn't wait to get back. I had other jobs, blah blah blah, but I couldn't wait to get back because Mike Sure he people he I don't know, people like he breeds a certain kind of like that's it. And the energy is good. People love working with him. He's he's a good captain of the ship. Like he is. You want you want to I don't. I wish it

reads when you watch the show. And that's not. You can't say that about everything for sure, and what a good like Masthead, like God, like you've got like Megan Amram and Jen Statsky and like all these amazing people that like that. Like the show where the credits are going by after I'm watching, I'm like, I want to watch the credits because I love you. Know. What I always think is like the entire writer's room could all have their own shows, but they choose to write with

Mike because they love him. They're like they would follow him to the ends of there because he's so smart and he's so dope and he's such a genius and he's just such a good boss, such a genius, such a genius show. And like I just keep thinking about how hard it must be too right for the show, because you have to be so deliberate and delicate and intentional with the world you're building. Right, it's like sucking thirty Rock meets Lost. It is right, It's like it's

like smart on it. It has to be so smart in so many ways. Yeah, totally, they are so smart that it's hard to even keep up. My my friend Megan on the ride the other day was like, it's one of those shows where you're like, wow, of course that's a brilliant idea for a show. Why didn't I come up with you? Yeah? And that's so true. It's like he must have been sitting there thinking that the idea for the show and been like, well, somebody must have done this, right of course, right, I know. That's

how you know it's a amazing idea. I mean, yeah, he's he's a smart boy. I'm so I'm like, couldn't be I don't know more, um, I guess I feel I couldn't feel luckier. That was the life goal was to like when you're feel like even just a few years ago, when people would kind of be like, what's your dream? I would be embarrassed to say, because you don't ever want to say your dream out because it's

so scary. But it was like I would be like, and I don't know a show, but like Parks and Rack or like a Mike Sure type of show, you know what I mean, Like like an ensemble comedy where everybody loves each other and then make sure sure okay, literally, like and it's funny too, because like the television that I liked when I was in high school, I really didn't watch that much comedy, Like, and now I really don't watch that much comedy. I get very invested in

like the drop. Have you watched Big Little Bitch? Bitch? Okay, drop everything? Drop everything? All right, So we haven't had a guest that like I dropped everything. We haven't had a guest that has. Every time I said that with a guest and I say have you watched, They're like, no, I haven't, and I just in my heart, I feel deep. That's when I turned the show off. Everything that I was getting. I'm just kidding. I love it. I love it. I loved it, and I didn't know I was going to.

Like I saw the commercials and I was like, that's a lot of actresses that I like, but all together, I don't know what is it? You know, when I first saw the trailer for it, it was like, I was like, what is this show? Does that take place in the past? Because they flipped, they kept I kept seeing these like images of beautiful I weep for Oh my god, And how are we so lucky? We're so nicole? Kidman? How are we so lucky? I don't know? And have

you seen the trailer for The Beguiled? New Sofia not so good, starting Nicole Kidman, Kirston done, Kirston, here's my heart, I love her too, wanting and Colin Farrell, Oh, that's a damn cast. It's a damn cast. And Matt, I know say this line because the trailer ends with Colin Farrell screaming, Oh my god, what's the we know what well, we can't recall this right now. I'm so sorry. Give me like that. What's the word that he used? Vengeful? Here comes even if it's wrong. He just he screams

and he's like, what have you done to me? You vengeful bitches? And cuts and cuts to them all sitting at their deck and dinner table and it's Civil War era and it's Nicole Kiman at the head of the table like playing like the family, and Kirston Dunce like and l Fanning and like all these other like gorgeous actresses is all sitting there in this period garden. He's just screaming out and you're like, what is When did it come out? And when are we going to It's

gonna be the con Film Festival. It's competing for the Palm Door. So that sounds amazing today I tweeted out hashtag the Last Jedi and posted the trailer for the Gus because everyone right now, but it's not what you should be watching, big little eyes, guys, come on, who's okay, who's who's your favorite? Nicole? I mean, obviously it's like, all right, here's the thing. It's obviously they're Nicola Reese right right for the yeah, because here's well, Laura is

gonna here's the thing. Okay, here's the thing. They're also amazing, and then it's crazy. You watch the show about like female friendship and like it's all together, and then they're like, you know, and that's the hard party about even like ranking them right and we can, but but I just mean, they're so different. They're so different and oh my god, we're so lucky that this was me. And honestly, I'll tell you it's so lucky. Shell, She's fucking lucky. She

will catch my drift. She's like, and I heard this is some t I will not name names. I will say that I heard that there was another actress that they were really going for, but they were like, let's see if she will guess, like, we'll do it. Came do you want to guess. Here's my guess, Jay Lawrence. It wasn't her. It's someone that's less less established. But I'll tell you later. But I think they green um, but I think that they reached out to Sheley because

they were like, let's just see if she'll do it. Yeah, and she did it. She did it. You know what. She's great and I don't even need Okay, good, good good. I'm glad to hear that. I but yes, it's hard to even put her in the same world as those two women or three women or four women. But um, goddamnit, Nicole Kidman moves me to my she she I mean, I'm I also should say I'm a gigantic Nicole Kidman fan.

And I did, in fact, see Mulin Rouge for fourteen times. Yes, in that's I think I saw Spider Man one, say one Spiderman one. I think I saw it seven times, and that's the one most I've ever done. But fourteen, that's that's that's insane. That was and a lot of them were me and my dad together. Oh my god, yes, yeah yeah. And then the year or two before that, my record was this is so weird. You guys are gonna get me a weird look. I saw Saving Private Ryan nine times? How did you? I have many facets.

I dramatic writing and the scene war Giovanni ribc is dying. I think I have never felt so bad. You didn't like it or you did like it. It affected me. So that's when he's crying out for his mother. I was like, I was like, no, yeah, that's a They showed us that moving. They showed us Thelma and Louise and I that's an amazing there you go. But wait, okay, so listen. If I have a ballad in my hands for the Emmy's, I do check off Reese Weatherspoon. And here's why I feel like she does more. She gave

you versatility. I think that Nicole, if she were to win an Emmy for it, I would be I would lead to my feet. But for me, it's like where this Spoon gave me personally everything I could possibly need. And I do think her monologue in the sixth episode to her daughter is maybe the best active scene I've seen in a What about that scene with her and Nicole in the car where they're talking about not being

enough or whatever? That made me cry? Yeah, Reese the other thing, and I don't know, tell me this is how you guys feel. Reese also surprised me Nicole, I s, this is nothing against Nicole, it's a compliment. I she everything she did. I was like, yes, Nicole, And with Reese, I was like, race, does that make sense? Nicole's talent has been showcased. Yes, and I'll take it forever until we die. Yeah, I say with three she took and

I think I've said this before. She just takes us through Tracy flick Ellwood and and I'll joking Lisa June Carter Cash, but like it feels like a culmination. Yeah, it's everything she's done, but doing it at her best level. But those I mean those therapy scenes with Nicole excuse me, her lips, hands. God. I just finished the novel good for you. Wat I listen, I read that, I watched, I listened, I read. I read The Big Little Life's novel, and it's different enough that everyone will enjoy it. The

way it wraps up is very different. It makes me feel like if they want us to do a second season, which apparently is like yeah, right now, what are your thoughts? They could do it well. Lean Moriarty is talking about writing the book first so that then they can adapt. They're saying, like, right, a second season. I'm like, she's not right. In the TV show right right, she would be writing. They would come from her ideas and she would give them to davidy Kelly. I guess is the

I guess it's the idea. But I only wanted if Jean Markville is going to do it? What sen you about a second season of Big Little I don't know. I think I'm staunchly like Antie. Oh, I like that right because it's like what a neat perfect and everyone said this the finale stuck. When does a show ever do that? I mean a show like that, right, right?

Like I agree, satisfying in such a such a good ways, I mean a mystery, right, So so we had that like like satisfaction of finding out this mystery that we've

been living with for the entire reason. But then also, um, it just was a beautiful hour of television or for whatever it was like, it was done so well even if you like, I don't want to give anything away, So even if you guessed who was the killer and who was the chilly, it was still still was so satisfied like like I would say that I sort of could. I kind of knew what was going to happen, but

it took nothing away from when I saw it. That's that's what every most people's experiences was that they clocked it from a mile away, but still but not in a way where you were like rolling your eyes, like I knew this was gonna happen. So I don't know how you would create that in a second season. You know what, you could do it? Okay, here we go. You could do it because there's there's a lot of backstory in the novel about the understands. Yeah, think about this.

We didn't get much resolution at all with Madeline's character, right, like you just kind of assumed that it's going to be okay. But there's a lot there if they want to do the second with that character, the storyline there is pretty clear. I think with Lene Woodley, um, you have the fact that now she sys now she's family with Nicole Kim and like that that's that's something to

navigate my screech thing. I was just that moment. It wasn't that again, she didn't I didn't gag f sche would but I but I appreciate and also by the end of it, I didn't care who I liked or didn't like. I liked him all and I laughed at your screech because it was just a funny sen Bonnie would be a would be a main character. So there's a lot about the backstory of her character that would unders that would that would you understand why she she does in the finale. There's a lot there, and I

want more Zoe Kravitz. I want to know because Zoe Kravitz is someone who I only feel like we're kind of just now seeing what she's capable of, and I do think she's going to be a huge start ready for this summer. Polochia's movie, Yes, well that auditioned to be scar Joe's assistant. Oh my god, absolutely should have gotten. But I a director session with Lucia and Paul and it was so fun that I was just like, I was like, oh, you know, it's nice with plat they

will be making movies until we all die. So if it's not this one, I think he might be the funniest person I've ever seen, and like his video, his video, I just if listeners haven't checked him out. Polly lou Dot com or whatever the hell google Polly lou right now and watch every real house euse of South Boston. I just I watched. I watched it perform, and I'm just like, I'm just gonna I'm just gonna sit on the no, no, no, I'm just gonna watch for everybody,

everybody but God. But but but like if it means that I can enjoy more of him, if I have to try less, I'll just sit on the side and watch. He's so funny. And this this I'll say about Lucia and I don't want to like get to like esoter plea the Broad City episode that I did, which were amazing and thanks Darcy, but Lucia directed and she was so perfect, like the way she was like delegating work and just making these decisions in the moment. I was like, yes, yeah,

it really perfect. It is so uh watching I think my first episode of Broad City seeing going on to this like real set of a real TV show in seeing Abby and a lot of Lucia and Paul, it was so overwhelming. It was like I could have cried the day. It was so overwhelming. I felt, Yeah, I was like, this is something really cool. It was incredible. I mean, it's always there. I'm so proud of them. Yeah, but it was truly insane. I can't wait for a

rough Night though. I'm very excited. You've seen it. Yeah, ok yeah, I'm not in it, but it's but it's it's looks and I can't wait for Zoe Kravitz to just do more. Yes, she's going. I can't. I'm very excited. Okay, so just back to this for one second. Here's the reason why I'm not begging for a second season. If you could have even said gagging for petition for the second I didn't. I didn't start it. I signed it and strongly I gave a strongly worded but this is

actually before the season finale. And now I feel like now that this season serious finale is there, and I'm like, you know what, this is kind of a perfect piece

of work for me. Anyway, I agree. I think it's like it's it's hard as people that like to watch things or hear things or whatever the art is that you like, all you want is more, but every like okay, not to bring it back to my babies, but when one direction decided to take a break, and I'm saying breaking quotes because to me, there they break which and everybody was so is so upset about it, and for me, I was like, what more do you want? These guys

were put together when they were teenagers. They're all finding their own voices, like, let's let this be a perfect little moment in time and then go on and do you know what I mean? Yeah, so I just the reason why I'm not on my hands and knees bagging is because I know that recent Nicole have bought Truly Madly Guilty, which I literally have the novel in my backpack, which is the other Lean more Mority novel. Now this is could be a could be um not necessarily ministers,

it could be a TV movie for HBO. Potentially they've bought it. They really want to make this work. I feel like it would be a huge mistake to not go forward with this. Apparently the book is amazing and it's going to be it's about three couples who reunite in like a summer home for like a weekend and like things go crazy and then apparently it's going to be Nicole Reese and Naomi Watts. Okay, okay, and you know that so recent Nicole are now such good friends.

Naomi are old friends. Old friends will be new friends, and like, I just can't wait to see what it's like a bottle ball. She can bring a lot the impossible. It's like it's like a bottle episode, but in a series many ses. I hope one of the couple men is many. I'm going to say you and McGregor, that's my hope. And Naomi and make Reese. I can't think far enough. I don't think did weison? You would never do anything? I'm yeah, what what men have? Reason? Nicole

shared or recon joacin Phoenix. I'm saying it right there. I feel like I don't want no. I don't either, But I was just answering the question, let's not say anything that we regret, because they might listen to this and cast Joaukin, and then we have to have Wakin, and then we have to have I want Luke Wilson. Wait, Luke Wilson from Enlighten, I mean from everything, But is that what we're talking about? Luke Wilson from like everything?

But what did I say enlightened? I mean he was because you got Laura dern On the brain got Laura you said Luke Wilson. Oh, I was thinking Patrick Wilson. Maybe Luke and Patrick Wilson was Luke Wilson and enlightened Luke Wilson was her ex husband, right, yes, yes here kind of like dead beat x y um. Okay, so weird that, Okay, Luke and Patrick? Why not brothers Wilson? I love it? Oh my god, when there are a lot of good options. If we got scars Gard, would

it feel too similar? Would it feel to in the family, would be Ryan Murphy? It would be so hard to Yeah, it would be hard for me. It's gonna be hard to even just seeing recent and and um kid mon sure. Well for Stars Guard, it's like the presence has like was was eliminated. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. I don't want to speil too much. And he was killed in the last episode and you haven't watched it yet.

The thing is um like with Nicole though, it's like I know they owned this property now, but I feel like she's got to be booked for the next two years. The woman works, Ah, she rules, She fucking rules. And also that's gonna anyway. I have more to say about it later, but now Matt, and Matt was like sold on Reese the night after the day after she was arrested, because she liked her so much more, ten times more, and she's like, do you even know who I am?

Like this is I'm pregnant. But then she beyond she went she went on Good Morning America or Today Show and they were like, why did you say you were pregnant? She was like, I don't know, I don't know. I'm not pregnant. Really like came out the other side of that like not that scarred for it was a tort to force. And also I don't know if she gets I don't know if big Little Eyes happens without that right, officer, Hi, I just need to tell you that I'm pregnant. So

I can't. Yeah, I just I can't. And you know, I have a right to be out here. I'm an American. This is my favorite. I'm an American citizen standing on American ground. Wait, that is so perfect. American citizen standing on American grounds, and I can be here. And then he promptly arrest her and the husband is like, why did you do that? Why didn't you just listen? She goes, I have a right to do that. He goes, no, you don't, Oh my god, wait, don't wait? Did you?

How do you know all these? Was it recording? I feel like I feel like I've heard her say, like do you even know who I am? But I don't remember all the details. Oh, we gonna watch men watch? Were going to watch after? Okay, me gonna watch right after this. I always loves reaching this from because actually literally top top three one of my favorite movies. Blond Okay, great, of course. I actually think the screenplay should be studied

in school. There it down and that's actually like the first time I ever remember seeing Reese was in a little movie called Man in the Moon with one of the London brother or twin brothers. It's a very like of age sexual kind of like watch it at your church camp type of thing, but like in a good way, in a good way. But it was pleasant ville first on to the scene. For me, it's like for me, I said this to Pat Regan. The first time I ever said, like, who the fuck is rees with this one?

Was when she just said this line. She's on the it's the very beginning of pleasant Villain. She's on the phone talking to her friend about what outfit she's going to wear that night, and she goes, I was thinking about wearing the red top and she puts it out to herself in the mirror and she goes, it's not slutty, it's fun. And I just was like, I just butchered. No, no, no, Like her, I was just like, come on, did you

were you? Like I want to be her. I had the same reaction to her that I had to at least you Silverstone when I was like six, which was just like, what is good with this person? I have to know everything good? What is good? I think it's time is time, but you know I can talk for I want. The thing is right after we're going to watch the trailer for the Big Aisles and then we're going to watch this one get arrested. Also, Big Little lies Um is better than feud. We don't have to

do this, We don't have to do that. We have a couple. I don't think so, honey today girl, I don't. I'm just saying this is the whole point of both feud and Big Little Liz is about women. I know. But the thing is, I'm responding to the people being like, come on, Big Little Liz is not that great and feud is better. It's like a you're wrong and be the exactly both both live. I'm both the villain then the hero in this store. Aren't we all there? I'm

an antihero? Aren't we all though? We all though? Aren't we? Told O gonna watch? Are you going to watch? The title? Brett producer? Okay? All of our producers are very hot. Someone on the reviews called called Joe hot producer Joe, and I was like, wait a minute, all the dog boys, how dare you? Is this Brett hearing for the first time that we think he's hot? Hey, bet, yeah, Yeah? I love people made. Do you think you're hot because

of l A Brett? Okay? Yeah, he said no. That was just a question I have because this is my second time being in Los Angeles. You're hot, so you're good either. But I feel like, I don't know. Sometimes I have friends coming here and they just get more hot, and I'm like, is it l A? Is that the sun was happening a little bit of like, yeah, a little bit of the sun, a little bit of like the culture working out, a little bit of taking care of yourself in New York. I love a drink. I

love a drink. I love to eat. I love a diner, being low glutton. Yes, I love staying out late. I love not getting any sleep, and I love not working out. And in l A, I'm like, you get your sleep, you get your sleep, you get your your you get your pilates, get plates to think about. I know, come just come stay with just you know, I want you guys in l A. I fucking found you. Remember when when you were like, I'm coming to l A. I was like, Hi, I know we don't know each other

that well, but oh yeah that was our diversity. Yes, anyway, um, you want to tell them about I don't think so. Those are the kids that don't know. Can you imagine not knowing for the children who don't know? I don't think so, Honey, is for now the crown jewel of the podcast. Who knows if a jeweler won't come along later and cut us a new stone? But one a night might have spoken last night about a new segment that we could do called last provocate Us. Okay, we're

gonna tell us, tell you think about this idea. It's creating a fake blind it about celebrities, and we're gonna have like scandalous music player. That's so, I think you can all look forward to at least us trying out. So we're gonna see what sticks. Okay, But last, I don't think so, honey. We take one minute to rail against something in culture, something that's bothering, something that's making us or skin raw. So, Matt, do you have something prepared?

I don't have something prepared? Do you do? Okay? All right, let's put it on the clock. Hold on one second, I'll start it up. And I just sorry, sorry, sorry to the listeners. I think this is gonna this is gonna drive a wedge between before we listen. Can we all connect with each other? Okay? Okay, oh my god, I love this. Yeah, okay, okay, thank you. All right, I'm on your side. We'll see after this. This is Matt Rodgers. I don't think so, honey. Time starts now.

I don't think so honey. Just going. I'm just sorry. I feel like I've seen everything you can do. I don't know. I just I don't think so, honey. And I'm sorry that the any race is pushing me to say this. But the thing is, I go onto the message boards like you do. And I see people talking, and I talk the guy brand him and he says, this Emmy is Jessica links to lose. And I'm sorry, but the degree of difficulty in Reese with this Spoon and Nicole Kiman and even Susan rand s Randon's performances

are much higher, honey. Like Jessica Lang is essentially doing a sketch comedy performance of Joan Crawford. Sorry, but like, look, it's a big, juicy role. She's playing it exactly like she should play it. But don't tell me that she's giving a more, oh my god, more performance than the girls on Big Little Lives. Are not in the same league. They're not in the same league. Honey. She's a big, soapy actress and that's wonderful. She does what she does so well. She got so many emmy she wipes her

ask with them. She doesn't need another one, Honey, Susan Surrandon, she's probably not great in real life, but she's killing her on for you, and and some one of the Big Little Lint thinks, I'm so I've never been so anguish when I done one. But I can't hear this about Jessica Land, that was a new tone of voice. I've never heard from you, anguished. Honestly, I didn't breathe the whole time. I can't see Jessica Lang walk out, walk away with resour Nicole's Emmy, I can't you know

you're not right, You're not right. Here's Jessica, Here's Jessica dozen feud she is. She has like residual German accent from Freak Show, Like, I'm like, why are you talking? That's so funny. I haven't watched Freedi by the way, it's great you it's a great show. I know sketch comedians that UCB that could that could do what Jessica Lane is staying on the cast. Recast could definitely do There. We Go could do it there, we Godsidmo could do

it there. I have people that I have, Darcy you go up there as John Crawford, I say the moment that that Darcy like stars in her own ram com, I'll say not to like I'm not. I don't know if the appropriate god yes, but Likenue you guys, I feel like the wolves and the vultures are going to come for me about that. And it's not no shade Jessica Laying in general. I think she's fabulous. But you know what, the woman has a lot of Emmys and like two Oscars for this is not the one for you.

The wolves and the vultures are going to come, and can I tell you something. Let them come, let them come, let them come for me. Speak your true speak. We give you, We give you all the room to debate in the comments down below, the comments of what you guys, where's your social media presence? Okay, we don't know. There's not a Facebook page for this podcast. Well he made one. I made one with like three people who like it. Because I'm nervous. I would love a little Instagram of loss. Okay,

that is easy. That's like or a Twitter. It's like link in the weed. I mean, it's just a simple little here's a picture of the guest and here's the episode. It came out today. It's some of our personal instagrams at f Dunaway and at mad Rodgers. Though. But I mean, that's great, that's great, but we do need to have a thing going. Yeah, thank you, Darcy. I will take you right. I will take that into account. Okay, it's time for your I don't think so, honey, And what

can I say? Your time starts now. I don't think so, honey. Airbnbs who are just bad, hostile man. They are staying in one right now in Echo Park, and Honey, it is on the steepest incline I have ever walked up in my entire life. I'm winded every time I opened the dan gates, which key, honey, I don't even know Martha Keys, Honey. These Airbnb people who put up their fake headshots on the website and say their name is Debrah at the nat and I need a man named

Chris with two aggressive dogs instead. I don't think so, honey, Chris who gave us dry I don't think so, honey, Chris. You you send us to the bathroom and there's pumps for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, But where's the toothpaste? Honey. I had a walk down the street down Echo Park Avenue to a little equivalent of a bodega to buy a new toothpaste. And I don't think so, honey. That was of solid thirty minutes in my day. And think, so, honey, you need to be more accurate with your stays, Honey.

I don't think so, honey. The sharing economy is a farce, and I fucking hate him. Think so, honey, I see you right through, you bitch. I don't think so, honey, Airbnb, when you are just trying to be a There are poop stands in the toilet. There are in the toilet. I look, can you believe? No, no, no, I didn't want to believe in stands forever. How many more days are you, guys? There get the fu three more days. We're moving to a new one with her friend David, Dave.

Bring the goods, please bring the good and honey, there's more furnishings in the next one. God damn it, guys that I'm happy that you for them. Thank you, thank you so much. Darcy. I'm ready. I'm ready, and I'm scared and I'm just gonna let it come. Come, let it come because I'm not going to talking fast. But here we go, Here we go. Okay, you know what I mean, do your thing, okay, Dore, we go, Darcy Carden,

I don't think so, honey. Time starts now. I don't think so, honey, that one fucking neighbor, know what I mean. I don't think you need to ever speak to me ever. Literally ever, if you want to say hi, that's okay, that's the most. I don't need you to ever, ever, ever comment on my clothes, honey. If I am wearing yoga pants, I don't want to tell you if I'm going to work out or if I'm just being chill as fuck. It is not your business. Honey. Thank you

so much. Though, I don't need you to tell me that you don't like the David Bowie shirt I'm wearing, because guess what, honey, he died a month later and that's on your head. I'm so sorry. I thank you so much. And you're a little license plate with with Fox century twenty one, whatever the funk it is. Guess what this is l a, honey, we all work at Foxey. Thank you so much. I need you to never, literally never look me in the eye. I don't want to

talk to you. If I talk to another old, fat, great white man, I am going to fucking kill Darcy. Pardon word introduced to the new This is the new thing you say to like a little to put a little point on your on your point? Is you saying thank you so much? Thank you so much? Iconic? I believe that that is a thing where all of a sudden, people will talk about a certain celebrity and then they'll go there have I'm kidding you not. Oh my god.

There was so much talk about Carrie Fisher in the two days prior to her passing away, like all of a sudden, she kept coming uprom conversation about it, just like I think I might even send like ah that old bront know something like that, like she's like seeing the world in bath like she was zoned out on coca in the eighties, ha ha ha. And then and then hearing that she had a heart, it was like

I begged the university to please, please know can do? Yeah, but I do believe that, like you gotta you gotta watch the ship, you talk about the older celeb Yes, because you know what, you should be so lucky. It was that neighbor's fault. And look got Darcy that the neighbors. Why do they Why did they insist we don't need to talk, we don't need to talk a little hello the conversation and he's like calling out from like his kind of front porch veranda, I'm going straight up back.

You didn't like your David Bowie. I think he was doing it in like a there's this old man thing, like rich old white man thing where they're sort of being like yeah, nagging where it's like yeah, exactly like flirting almost where I'm like, I mean, pick a you

pick a new tube. You know what I'm saying. I am happy to be at an age where I'm where I don't feel the need to like, um, talk back, yes, back where I can where I can kind of shut it down and not feel like a bad bad person or like a bad girl, not even a bad person, you know what I mean. Like, Oh, I was like I didn't like I was attention because it's like he's entitled to give me attention. And now it's fun. It's almost fun to be like, no, we're not doing this. Yeah.

I think I learned that from Fran Gillespie. Ma, Fran again, cover on this, you guys, honestly we should Fran Gillespie d c M. Last year we were standing outside the three of us, me, Matt and and Fran wasted and France just comes up. She just started doing the most funny butt. She started doing the most funny but she was like, you know what, I don't think, but I don't think you know, I think pride is a little too much. Pride a little too much like pants up up.

She just started doing up and I was like, this is She's as funny as they come. She's so great. And also she's another one that I used to see. Yet I was always like, I love her. She was hammcat, she was both. She double dipped it. Darcy, Oh my god, this is transcendentscended. I love you holding hand. Yeah, it doesn't end for us anyway, and unfortunately ends for you the listeners. But now we're gonna go watch Reese get

arrested and then and listen. I recommend that you, guys, encourage you to do unless you're driving, then maybe take a moment and really quickly, Um, Darcy is gonna be on Barry Show with Bill Hayter on HBO. Yeah, it's not until the winter, so that's so far away, but we're shooting it right now. It's gonna be great. It's about it's about really quick. It's about a hit man who the smallest version is a hitman who decides to become an actor. And I'm and I'm one of the

actors in his acting class. So on board by Henry Winkler, every wink It's really it's amazing. It starts, it's gonna be great. I'm obsessed and you're obsessed. Okay, you're gonna be Oh my god, and watching on the Good Place. It's such a good show. Well, I love this. You guys, Dorothy, thank you so much. I'm at Roger and you guys.
