Episode description

In this weeks episode of the Mental Health Pod we spoke to Helen Undy from the Money and Mental Health Policy Institution. As Helen explains there is an often overlooked impact of those with mental health issues struggling with their finances and vica versa with research suggesting people with Mental Health issues being 3x as likely to have money problems. The Money and Mental Health Policy Institution was set up to break this link between financial difficulty and mental health problems. They achieve this through research, developing practical policy solutions and working in partnership with both those providing services and those using them to find what really works. Most recently they were successful in securing a Government extension of the Breathing Space scheme to people in the hospital for their mental health or under the care of a crisis team in their local community. Helen was a really great guest and I’d urge you to look up her and the institutions work on their website.Website: https://www.moneyandmentalhealth.orgTwitter: https://twitter.com/mmhpiFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/moneyandmentalhealth/?fref=mentions
