[SPEAKER_03]: Just an example of what you get when you subscribe to the Kyle Myrtle with podcast. [SPEAKER_03]: As Mikhail Merit today, we're talking zombies for on Disney. [SPEAKER_03]: Milo Menheim back as Zed.
[SPEAKER_03]: We got Meg Donnelly back as Addison. [SPEAKER_03]: We are introducing Malachi Barton as Victor and Freya Sky as Nova. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's read about this in the first three zombies movies. [SPEAKER_03]: Zed and Addison brought human and monster kind together in their hometown of Seabrik. [SPEAKER_03]: Now a new adventure dawns for the duo when their summer road trip takes an unexpected detour, landing them in the middle of yet another monster rival rivalry.
[SPEAKER_03]: They walkers versus vampires. [SPEAKER_03]: Tensions flare when Zed and Addison find themselves acting as camp counselors between the two opposing supernatural factions. [SPEAKER_03]: And with the help of Eliza and Willa, [SPEAKER_03]: It must convince sworn enemies Nova and Victor to try to unite their warring worlds before an even greater threat in dangers them all. [SPEAKER_03]: We're going to hear about these new world.
[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to hear about vampires that don't suck blood. [SPEAKER_03]: We're going to hear about creating day walkers and especially especially for Malachi and for you coming into this franchise. [SPEAKER_03]: Of course with Milo and Meg, [SPEAKER_03]: They also produce their executive producers. [SPEAKER_03]: I want to hear about the responsibility they have. [SPEAKER_03]: I want to hear about growing these characters in the music. [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody's a musician.
[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody's a musician. [SPEAKER_03]: So that spills over and includes game night as well. [SPEAKER_03]: All of that and more as we talk zombies for it's Kyle Meredith with Milo Manheim, Meg Dinley, Malachi Barton and Freyisky. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, is that an Adidas poker poster in the back? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, no, sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: We got prints. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a prints poster, not an Adidas knouts brain fog.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, I can see where you get that from right there. [SPEAKER_03]: I keep my angels open my shoulder. [SPEAKER_03]: Let's see both on here congrats on zombies for. [SPEAKER_03]: Great to have you back in this wacky little world. [SPEAKER_03]: I'd love to hear from both of you on this one. [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think you want to start, but it's not the first time not only do you all start it, but you also produce executive produce on this.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I would imagine that you have you feel some like responsibility and ownership of these characters. [SPEAKER_03]: How involved do you get on that side of things? [SPEAKER_06]: Um, super involved.
[SPEAKER_06]: I feel like my one, I, during this entire franchise, we've always loved to talk creatively, just about the whole world in general, because we're fans of zombies as well, not just Zed Madison, of course, but also just all the other characters and plot lines and all of that stuff. [SPEAKER_06]: And I think this movie, we actually got to put that into action and actually, you know, talk through things and try
[SPEAKER_06]: like everything so it was really cool to put on a bunch of different hats with like casting and wardrobe and just everything that you could think of it was just so cool to have some kind of say or at least to know what was going on like even with the songs like there's so many songs that aren't chosen and like just hearing songs that like weren't picked and like why they picked the songs they did like all of that like I never I knew it was happening but just like to actually know about it all was just really fascinating and
[SPEAKER_06]: As fans of D-Coms, that was our era of, you know, watching D-Coms on Friday night. [SPEAKER_06]: We all saw our fans of Disney Channel, so we know what fans want because we are fans. [SPEAKER_06]: So it was really cool to add sprinkle that in there too. [SPEAKER_03]: What she said. [SPEAKER_03]: Well, let you add onto that Milo and everything because you get to grow these characters, which, you know, how do you do that?
[SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm sure a lot of it's on the page, but at the same time, you know, it is a wacky world. [SPEAKER_03]: Like how do you allow these characters to kind of grow? [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it is a very weird world that we've created here. [SPEAKER_04]: And I think that, you know, that's kind of the beauty of it, is that everything's always changing.
[SPEAKER_04]: And when I started with this franchise, I mean, just like zombies one to two, I remember on zombies two, I saw myself like, what did I do on zombies one? [SPEAKER_04]: How am I going to do the same thing? [SPEAKER_04]: And I was just like, Z lives in Milo. [SPEAKER_04]: He's there. [SPEAKER_04]: Milo's grown since the last movie, and so has Z. So I think we just kind of allow where we are in our lives to [SPEAKER_04]: You know, kind of lead our characters, the directions they go.
[SPEAKER_04]: And also it just kind of happens to work out that there's always parallels in your own life and the movie that we're shooting. [SPEAKER_04]: But you had brought up like responsibility. [SPEAKER_04]: I feel like in this movie now, especially being producers.
[SPEAKER_04]: we were like we have to do this movie justice and we have to there were so many things that we were thinking about but I mean I think we just created such a good team of people the story is great we like checked all the boxes of things that were important to us and I think just vibing out on set really gave us like the best thing we could possibly do and it's a very fun movie and we'll be right back right after this welcome back it's Kyle Meredith with the cast of zombies four
[SPEAKER_03]: Free, you're coming, I mean, you're both coming into this world that's been built up. [SPEAKER_03]: It's got a lot of history in it. [SPEAKER_03]: How do you come into this? [SPEAKER_03]: Do you have to study up? [SPEAKER_03]: Do you have to go back and rewatch all this stuff? [SPEAKER_03]: Or do you try to come in fresh?
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh definitely, I think as soon as I've wasted a big fan of the zombies movies, but as soon as I found out I was going to be auditioning for the fourth installment of the franchise, I was like, let me just eat sleeping breathes on these movies because I think a long way of getting a feel for the movie. [SPEAKER_05]: It's also getting a feel for the style and the way that, you know, jokes are delivered and everything.
[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's there's so many small things that you can pick up on. [SPEAKER_05]: subconsciously when you just watch it so many times, so that was something that I didn't really help to me. [SPEAKER_05]: Just was watching the movies over and over and over again until I sent myself to David. [SPEAKER_03]: That's interesting that you would actually think about the style in that way, like matching it up. [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, because I think zombies has such a distinctive feel to it.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's something that's like super fun and kind of magical and I think now nostalgic. [SPEAKER_05]: So it was something that I was kind of studying in a way, but it's great because my way of studying was just watching the movies which is fun anyway. [SPEAKER_05]: So I was like, yeah, that's what I was doing a lot of. [SPEAKER_03]: Malik, we've seen a lot of different kind of vampires before, but rare, do we get to see the non-blood-sucking kind? [SPEAKER_01]: I know, I know.
[SPEAKER_03]: How do you develop something like that? [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, it's interesting because I think the blood-sucking aspect of vampires makes a vampire vampire. [SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like the whole writing team and all whole creative team on this movie did such an amazing job of turning vampires into this like, [SPEAKER_01]: fun loving friendly type of creature, um, type of monster.
[SPEAKER_01]: And by, by kind of bringing in the idea of the blood fruit is kind of like, it's cool, you know, it was like, it was, it's, it's a, it's the family friendly version of a neck if that makes any bit of sense. [SPEAKER_01]: But it was funny. [SPEAKER_01]: I remember when we were in the special effects office and they were having them They were having us try the blood fruits for the first time and they were these little like Boba it was like Boba type of things inside of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was actually really good, but [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't get to try it. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_05]: So sad that day. [SPEAKER_01]: So sad. [SPEAKER_01]: But I really do feel like they did a great job of, you know, turning these characters, turning specifically the vampires into not so much of a horror character where they, you know, where they normally are. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I love Victor and I love what we did with them so.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you still keep some of those old traits in mind at all? [SPEAKER_01]: Hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: Hundred percent. [SPEAKER_01]: When I say when I say like the family, friendy and friendly not so horror, I'm not fully dropping the like scare factor of them because you know their vampires, they still got to be a little scary.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean when you look at their [SPEAKER_01]: their outfits, their dark mysterious, you have the things, the black eyeliner around which just gives it like the dark, like the dark kind of smolder and then the red hair along with the colored eyes whenever they like vamp out, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: It's there's still a lot of aspects of like an OG of what you think a vampire is. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, we're just, I guess, letting in a new idea of vampire.
[SPEAKER_03]: And we'll be right back right after this. [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back, it's Kyle Meredith with the cast of Zombies Four. [SPEAKER_03]: You know, there's a nice setup at the end and everything, the potential for the continuing, like, I start thinking about what kind of monsters I want to see. [SPEAKER_03]: Ghosts, I think, would be fun. [SPEAKER_03]: Like, do you all have those conversations?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes. [SPEAKER_05]: We do, as a cast, we talk about it, because I feel like there's so many endless things. [SPEAKER_05]: I mean, obviously, day walk was something that was created as a part of the franchise, so whether it's going to be another one that we already have a perception of in pop culture, or if it's going to be another, [SPEAKER_05]: Made up one? [SPEAKER_05]: Who knows?
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, it's zombies has been all just expect the unexpected and hey, maybe next year we're gonna have to sit back and just say hey, you know, greetings to another monster and just say what's up and learn to love them and you know, the same old same old. [SPEAKER_03]: Speaking of vibing out, everybody's a musician. [SPEAKER_03]: Like everybody's a musician, which by the way, Congrats Meg on Dying Arts. [SPEAKER_03]: Sounds great. [SPEAKER_03]: Like does that boil over?
[SPEAKER_03]: Do you guys get to do that in the off-hours with each other? [SPEAKER_06]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot, honestly, Julian Lerner, who plays Ray. [SPEAKER_04]: He's a great guitar player. [SPEAKER_04]: He's amazing. [SPEAKER_04]: There's lots of dancing going on. [SPEAKER_04]: There's lots of like, I make the cast like, quiz me on Vexology, like learning about flags and stuff, like on set.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, anytime we're just having downtime, we always bring our own passions into just a lot of games. [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of this, you threw them stunned down there. [SPEAKER_06]: Game night, we're a big hit. [SPEAKER_04]: Seriously. [SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, that a lot. [SPEAKER_06]: Like, charades, the running charades. [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I really think so. [SPEAKER_04]: We're a very cranky cast. [SPEAKER_04]: We're not. [SPEAKER_04]: We're a very gaming cast.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's all we do. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_03]: Congrats on it, really guys. [SPEAKER_03]: It's great to see you all again and thanks so much for taking the time. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you so much. [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, Kyle. [SPEAKER_04]: Good to see you. [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much. [SPEAKER_05]: I love you to meet you. [SPEAKER_05]: Have a good day.
