Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome in this time now for our community connection. Brionna Razinski is here with you with the Bartlesfield Young Scholars. How are you ready to uncork? I am ready to uncork, and I hope that your listeners are too well. They should be by about now. By golly. This is a this is a

big fundraiser for young scholars. Absolutely, yes, Now tell us a little bit about this because I know that your window to purchase tickets is running up like tomorrow, it is, yes, the window closes tomorrow, so this is your last chance to get tickets for the Enquirk your support event. It's going to be held over at Father Lynch Hall, Big Hall, huh, big hall, and we're going to have four wines and four tasty tasty meals, so it's going to be an amazing outing. And of course we have

our silent auction event items. Huh. We've got some really good ones this year. You can actually check them out already and start bidding online just by going to Young Scholars dot org. My goodness, Aks, you got this all ready to roll and it's coming up this Saturday, This Saturday, Yes, six thirty. That's when the door is open. Yes, and we're going to lock you in at seven. I'm kidding, but anyway, it's

great to tell me. Now. Young Scholars is a name change from something that we've known as the Low Family Young Scholars, which was a bit of a mouthful, but it was you know, but that's that's the way it was. But now we've changed the name a little bit, but it's still the same program showing a lot of youngsters a lot of great benefits. Tell us a little bit about it. Well, right now, we have thirty

seven that are in our program between sixth through seniors in college. We have had fifteen now graduate from college, which you know, sometimes people go, well that's not a very big number, but if you know the history back in two thousand and seven when it came to fruition, you know, the first group was in fifth grade, So they were in fifth grade and they went all the way through our program six seventh, eighth, nineteenth, twelfth,

you know, all the way through twelfth and then off to college and then our first graduates and so it you know, those numbers are starting to grow each year, obviously, and it's exciting to be able to be a part of these, you know, students' futures and helping them be successful.

One of the ways that you've had this program really blossom and expand a little bit is your partnership with the boys and Girls now Big Brothers, Big sit Arlene's out there, Big Brother's Big Sisters right here in Bartlesville, and it's a mentoring program. And this is very much about what you you're doing.

Yes, so, Big Brothers, Big Sisters is our community partner. They help us with, you know, being able to do background checks, making sure that our students are right, you know, our safety first for our students. You know. We but we are definitely looking for new mentors. But more than anything, we're looking for a few more people to come join us at an event. We've got a guest speaker coming, one of our former students. Well, this is going to be good. Yes, yes,

so, I was on here the other day talking about it. But for those that didn't hear it, we do have a college student it's going to come back and kind of talk about his impact from the program. And we're looking forward to a fun, lively night and hopefully you can join us. Tickets are one hundred dollars each Again, you can call me at nine to one eight seven six six six six seven five, or you can go online to purchase tickets at Young scholars that's plural dot org. Wow, this

is going to be incredible. Now there's a theme to this. Yes, this is Ireland, something special from Ireland that can be bidded on. So oh yeah, well I guess I'll have to go online here in a second. See what that's all about. Yes, yes, and you don't have to attend. If you can't attend, you know, you can still bid on those items. All of that money goes towards our program to help us pay for these programs that help expand the life skills of these students. It

also helps pay for the scholarships. So yeah, but if you're going to bid, you might as well go to the Oh yes, it's going to be so much fun. And I would love to meet you when you get there. And well, this is really going to be a f ambulous night. Uh. You know, Father Lynch Hall is is a very good sized hall, so we're gonna we have plenty of rooms, so don't worry about being cramped. I don't think that's going to be a problem, but we are going to have a lot of fun. And of course you are going

to hear from a student that is going through the entire program. And I think that's going to bring a great deal of understanding to a lot of folks who are kind of hearing about this and saying, hey, this sounds pretty good. Well you're going to hear You're going to hear a success story from a successful student. Yes, that's really going to be kind of cool.

Yeah, because our mission is to help students go to college and earn a degree and not you know, to better their lives and to improve their chances out in the real world. And so oh yeah, those are you know, our goals from the from the organization, the very bottom, you know, message is that we want them to go to college and be successful. Now, when when you're you're a child, you're fifth grader, sometimes you the idea that, well that college sounds like a great thing. But I

don't know anybody who's been to college except my teachers. You know, there's nobody in my family it's done this. You know, this is going to be a road to maybe a little too far, and kids sometimes kind of put that off to the side thinking that it's not a realistic goal, and that's not true here. No, every kid can go to college and every kid can be successful. You know, we surround them with a bunch of people and resources to help, you know, provide the opportunity and to provide

that you know, structure on how to get there. So, yes, that is very important. Well, being the oldest in my family, I got to tell you my parents did not attend college, so I had no idea what I was getting into. Boy, if this who had been around when I was young, But you know, I muddled my way through and got through. But boy, sure would have been a lot easier had to program like that been around, and now that it is around. If you're a parent, yes, who has a student that's showing a great deal of

promise. This is something you need to really kind of get on the stick and get integrated on. And we don't want anybody to be screwed of it. It's not like your fifth grader has to know mechanical engineer when they grow up. You know. In fact, we challenge our students to come up with every year maybe what they would like to be, and then we get to send them to camps so that they can I didn't know. Oh yeah. So for example, I had a little guy in our program. I

say little. He's actually bigger than me, but a little guy in our program here and I'm five eight, so I'm not a short person. But a little guy in our program. And he thought he wanted to be an

engineer. So we sent him to an engineering kind of summer camp and he came back and he goes, that was fun, but I don't want to do that, And that's okay, because well, at you know, now, yeah, exactly, we want to send you off having ideas of what you want to be so that you're not changing majors and costing yourself more money. And so we give these students plenty of opportunities to explore what kind of

fields. They do internships, they get to do different things that kind of give them the knowledge that, yeah, you know, I think I want to be a vet. And then you get there and you're like, yeah, this is really what I wanted to do. You know, I thought maybe it was, or maybe it's like, yeah, I didn't know I was gonna have to touch snakes or you know, I mean personally for me, but you know, this is great. You can explore, you can figure it out, and you've got mentors there that serve as guides. It's

just you on your journey. And that's the beautiful part because you know mom and dad want to be there with you too. But if they don't know the road, yes, you know they're going to be the best guide they can possibly be. But to have those mentors who've been there, done that, got the T shirt, Yes, that's money in the bank. Yes, absolutely, talking about mentors, we definitely are looking for mentors that you know, you're thinking about how waste that you can get back to your community

and maybe you know, improve somebody else's life. And yeah, you have been to college and you know how to you know, go even if it's been twenty or thirty years old, how to you never forget how to go on and get your bursar's account set up and find out how to get the maps of the university and walk it and figure out you know, how to get from class one to class two, and you know things like that setting up your dorm and you know, we give money to help set up the

dorms, and we you know, we have a lot of helpful resources we have scholarships so that you can potentially go to school for zero dollars. And there's even you know, at RSU. If you attend to RSU, which is one of our endowed universities, we have students that they pay the student to go to school. They give them a twenty three hundred dollars check every summer because they have gotten all of the credits that they need, they've gotten

all their scholarships, and it's just money out there. Wow. Okay, okay, now you got mom and dad paying attention. Yes, and now, if you are interested in making sure that the children who are our future, they're coming up behind us, they're the ones that are gonna take care of us in our old age, this is something that you may want to investigate a little further and try to get yourself involved in. And the best way to do it is by having fun. Coming up this Saturday night,

Yes, please come out this Saturday night. You know, one hundred dollars will get you that ticket, get you a lot of fun for four glasses of wine and some really delicious food. And on top of that, you know you're doing something great for a gaster who could really use the help. Absolutely, good gravy. That is awesome. Let's write a success story to coming up Saturday night. Let's do that, and then we're going to hear a success story too with one of the speakers who will be a student that's

gone through the entire process. But you can start your journey into being part of the success with your financial support. And if you're so moved to be a mentor, well, you know, Brionna can help you out there. That is for and we can get things underway here to ensure that more kids have this valuable resource in order to get their future started. Yes, goodness, Okay, what's your website again? It is young scholars dot org. That's it. That's it. Wow, yeah, not too complicated. No,

good, because which is good? Kis centering. The other day I just drew a blank and forgot it all of a sudden Young Scholars dot Org on the radio. You kind of go, oh no, I just thought that was me. No, no, you know this is this is always a good dialogue that we have when you come here and you give us the information and of course the tickets. The tickets are available through the website.

Correct, yes, absolutely, and you know, thank you for helping us reach the public and you know, get our plea out there that we've got some young ones and we are seeking to help them be successful in their future. Rihanna, thank you for being
