Good money, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome in. It's time now for our community connection right here on K one one you trust, and it is eight thirty fourth and we have guests in the studio here from the Washington Republican Party. We have Larry Murray, the county chairman, and Sarah Burnett precink twenty eight vice chairman. First of all,

welcome to the studio. And I know for Larry it's the first time he's ever been behind him min Yeah, that's correct, So thank you for having us. Really appreciate it. Now. I know that it's not the same for Sarah because I interviewed you watch before. That's let we go. So we got a lot going on here. We've got just a lot going on here and a lot of things that are starting to go on as far as information wise this weekend, but on Monday, it's huge start us off.

What have we got going? Yeah, So again, thanks for having us here and allowing us to promote the upcoming quadrinial precinct meeting and county convention. As as you said, it's a it's a busy year twenty twenty four. We're electing a new president, and so there everything kind of starts with the precinct. So our politics it's a local, right, that's right. Yeah, And so the precinct meetings or as you said, our Monday, we do have staggered meeting time. So we have put an announcements out on our

Facebook page, on our website on the enterprise. And so if you want to have a say and who is a delegate to the National Convention or who our electors are in the electoral College, then it's important that you participate in the upcoming precinct meeting and then that'll lead on to what we'll do at the precinct meeting is we will elect delegates to the county convention, and then from the county convention, we'll elect delegates to the district Committee or district committee convention

and the state convention. And at the district convention, what we'll do is we will elect three delegates to the National Convention and then an elector to the Electoral College. At the state convention will elect delegates to the National Convention and then electors to the Electoral College. So this is kind of like the electoral high school until you graduate and you get up there to the electoral college. Ye okay for those who tried to follow it home. You know, I

took civic. They don't teach that much you anymore. So when you see electal call, it would look you know, it's like, Okay. It's been a learning process for me. Was elected chairman last year and this is my first time participating in one of the quadronial meetings. There's a lot to learn, and it's a too sometimes and in a hurry too. Now we get this going away on Monday, correct, Yeah, so this starts Monday

evening. That'll be your precinct meetings. I believe we have twenty six precincts in Washington County and so all of them are spread and all of them can come, and it will be at Calvary Chapel from six thirty to eight thirty. That's right here in Bartleson, right here in Bartlestawn, Scantter. Yeah, right over there by Elder Care in that area. Ye're very good.

So now it says the purpose of the Republican Party for those who are not Republican but or just independent, are really just kind of curious about party politics. Because I know that there are young people who listen. They really haven't decided what affiliation they wish to be a part of. Could we do a little explaining and kind of outlining and detailing just what the purpose of the Republican Party is. Either one of you can take the shot at that. I

mean maybe you both. Yeah, So the Republican Party we actually have a platform on our website at OKGP dot com and that is the state website, and so all of us when we participate in these precinct meetings, we get to say what issues are important to us. Those actually get put into a document at the state level and it gets voted on at every level all the way up to say pro life, biblical family, smaller government, lower taxes. All of that is put into a document. So that kind of defines

who we are as Republicans. And that's why I really think it's important to get involved because you can actually have a voice in that process. Very good. There are a lot of people who just assume other people just do it for them, they're too busy, or they just don't care. That is until it hits their front yard and then they're like, well, how did

this happen? Well did you ever get involved? Get back to you and this is where you get involved, right, Yeah, And that's one of the reasons why I've wanted Sarah here was because I think she's a great example of what involvement looks like. You know, freedom is not always free, and you know the price of freedom eternal vigilance. And I think we really

twenty twenty woke us up when you started seeing lockdowns and vaccine mandates. But Sarah, to me, is a really good example of you know, it doesn't matter where you are in your life, you can still participate in the process and make a difference in the community. She's a mother of four, her and her husband have a small business, and she's the precinct vice chair and she's knocking doors and she does a lot of really good work. So

you don't have to be retired in order to be involved. We actually would love to have younger people involved in the process. When do you sleep, sir, not a whole lot. No, I'm only kidnapped. That's really good on you, because younger people like yourself really need to be involved. They really need to pay attention because most don'tun till their in their mid thirties

or even well into their forties and that's just unacceptable. And I think it's important to realize, like our freedoms are being lost partially because people are at different stages of life than us. So I have young children, so there's things that I'm watching that not everybody else would maybe pay attention to. And so that's why we need people at all stages. And I just bring my kids, and my kids will be there Monday night. So yeah, bring

your kids come. It's a fun thing. It's laid back. We love families, and that's right. You people in your seventies, you bring your kids too, because you know, if they're in their forties, they need to learn a few things. And I wasn't trying to be funny. I was being serious because sometimes the folks who were kind of wandering around, you know, in that thirty five to fifty five, they just kind of wander around, they don't pay attention much to their parents are all over it.

They got to get involved too, all the way down to people like you in their twenties, they were raising youngins. You know, that's a good thing. So this all starts on Monday. How do we go about to being a part of this is that you go to the website. Firstus is how we get our put in to the door here. Yeah, so an official call was sent out to if you're on the distribution list for the Washington County Republican Party, an email was sent out an official call with the times

how to get registered. You do have to be a registered Republican in order to participate. So we do open our meetings to the public because we want transparency and people to be involved. But in order to actually participate and be a voting member, you have to be a registered Republican requirement. Yeah, do you have anything, Yeah, that's also just bring your voter ID card or we can look it up for you there. So you just have to

prove that you're a registered Republican and you can participate. Yeah, And so I mentioned earlier, we have unique times for each precinct to show up, and the reason for that is just so that get everybody, get everyone in, people can each precinct can conduct a proper meeting and without a lot of noise around. So if you don't know what precinct you are, you can go to the OKA voter portal and you can look up which precinct you're in.

You can email w c g opok dot com and we can tell you who your precinct chair and vice chair are and we can help you out there as well. That's very helpful. That's very good. You know, it makes you don't it makes you feel like you're not going this alone. Absolutely not. Now we've got a big team of people. Well that's great.

That is absolutely great. Now, this this whole convention process, I know that it can be sometimes god of time consuming, nerve racking and everything else, But in the end, I understand that there's a real good sense of relief, a real, real positive feeling that comes from this because you know that the hard work is paying off. Yes, absolutely, Yeah, Jane, the idea to take almost take root and really go on to the next

level. Yeah, And it's really exciting to be a part of this whole process and to be able to have a say and what the okg OP rules are, what you know, what our platform is. Who are sending to national convention to elect or nominated presidential and vice presidential candidate. But again, yeah, it all starts at the precinct level and makes its way through the process of a county convention and state convention. So it is exciting to be a part of. Oh yeah, it has to be. Yeah. I

love our convention process because it gives a voice to every single individual. So it doesn't matter if you're from a small county or a large county. Every person who comes to even that state convention with hundreds and hundreds of people get to voice. The microphones are available. If you're a delegate, you may even speak if you want to. There's a whole procedure. You can learn it and be involved in voting and the whole entire process. So that's something

that really inspired me that all of us could take part in. So it was kind of a curiosity thing. I wonder how this works. You found you went in, you found out how it works, and now it's like, hey, this is cool. It works. Yeah, so you just take her path here, just takes her of the path and to get yourself involved. It's really what it's all about. Once again, how can folks get a hold of the party at the website is the probably the best part,

right, Yeah. Our website is wcgpok dot com and we have ways you can contact us. Our email is info at wcgpok dot com and just send us an email if you want to get on our distribution list, if you want to find out more about the upcoming precinct meeting, when your official call is actually on the website, so at WCGPOK dot com. So is there anything else I missed, because boy, we had a lot of information. I just want to say, like, the people of America still have

a voice. I know it can feel like everything's directed from Washington right now, but we all still have a voice. And one of those ways that we can really have a voice right now is through our Republican Party. Like this is an elected body, it's actually in our state election code, and

so this intersects with elections, this intersects with accountability for legislature. So there's a lot that people can do. And if you get involved, I think you just can see those doors open to continue to have more and more of a voice. Yeah. And for me, one of the reasons I got involved is because I was unhappy with the direction the Republican Party was going.

I felt that there are a lot of Republicans wearing the Republican name. We often call them rhinos, but they act more like Democrats, and I feel like we've compromised a lot as a party, which has led us more and more down the path of socialism. And this is just one way you can hold your elected officials accountable. It's through party politics. And we want the R and Republican to mean something. We want our elected officials to uphold the

party platform. We have a party platform for a reason, and it says our stance on abortion, on taxes, on a various number of issues. And so we want our elected officials who are representing us, when they're wearing that Republican you know name, actually act to actually act like Republicans. It doesn't seem like a hard request. I want to thank you both for being here. We'll do a little bit of a news story. Of course, folks can watch this on Facebook Live. You guys can use that for whatever

you need. We do that with everyone that comes in here. I want to thank you again for coming in. Appreciate it. And Larry, by the way, for the first time being behind a microphone, you showed no sign of apprehension. Thank you very much.
