Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome. It's time now for our community connection. Right here on came one, the one you trust, brought you and mart by, Arnold Moore and Nie Camp People Home and Tall Grass Motories. It all begins with you. We're talking United Way. How are we doing, ladies? Good morning? Loving the cool weather this morning. Isn't that a refreshing change? It's been so nice. It kind of feels like September weather. It does, and I

hope it carries over too. Lisa Carry and Ashley Pram, we're gonna be talking about a very special event coming up. Yes, So September twelfth through the fifteenth is our twentieth tee it up for United Way Golf Tournament. So twentieth year and Ashley and Randy John are the co chairs of the committee and we've been working tirelessly to to shure up sponsors because we have a big goal you are trying to meet, Ashley, what's that goal? We're trying to

reach one million dollars million. Yeah, that's right, it's great. That is great. How are we coming along with our sponsorships and with our people wanting to play? You know, we are about full for our tournaments. Well that's a good, good start. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, we're we feel really lucky that, you know, we've had such a dedicated sponsor base. Some have been here for years, they keep coming back,

so we're just really thankful to them. Well yeah, you know, Lisa, when a good time breaks out, people want to be a part of it. And you had like a nineteen year build up to this. Yeah, to think twenty years ago that Randy John started this golf tournament was a half a day tournament, raised eight thousand dollars. Last last year we set our new record of nine hundred eighty five thousand. So I really feel grateful, a little just in awe that we're able to accommodate all those golfers and

the sponsors and the work that the Committee does. I will say Brandy Ashley and I started talking about this tournament about two weeks after our last tournament, so it's it's a year long process to get through. But I'm forever grateful for the two companies that that helps put it on, for its Conico Phillips and Phillips sixty six. Indeed, now I actually would do say committee that's

a that's a lot of moving march. It is. Yeah, we have lots of committee chairs and some that have been here with the committee for over ten years, I would say, so we're well will machine. You know, everyone knows their part and they do it really well. So well, that's great and it goes for a pretty darn good cause, which is the

United Way, and the United Way keeps keeps things moving around. That's that is true, and I'm just you know, we have a great community and we will be announcing our campaign goal on September first at the Bartlesville Football games. So this will absolutely help those programs that we support in our community in the areas of health, education, and financial stability. And without this tournament, we wouldn't be able to support those partner agencies so they can go do

the heroic work they do every day with people who are in need. Well, you know, this is a great partnership that we have with our community as far as fundraising and then of course allocating funds to make sure that people's needs are met. So many people who access programs through the United Way that are sponsible by the United Way are people who oftentimes just pull through the cracks.

So true and you know, with how the world is now and how expensive things are, people who need counseling, we're able to help support through Samaritan Counseling to make those visits affordable. So with our donor dollars, we're able to allow them to sponsorships. Some individuals who are reaching out for need.

Same thing with Family Healthcare Clinic and Boys and Girls Club at Bartlesville and no Auta, and I could go on and on, but it's because of the dedication of Randy and Ashley and the two companies and the rest of the committee that we're able to make a difference in so many lives through our partner agencies. Actually, I'm going to ask you a kind of brother pointed question outside of when the tournament's over, what's your favorite part of the tournament.

What's my favorite part of the tournament? The relationships. I love working with the committee members. A lot of us don't work together on a daily basis, and so it really allows us to come together and it's like we've we're friends, you know, for a long time. And then also seeing people that come back to town that I mean, they love coming back to Bartlesville for this tournament. And it's always really fun. I guess it is.

You know there the folks who this is their specific time they're going to come back, they never miss. They might come back in between, they might

not, but they never miss this one. That is so true. And you know the economic impact that it has the tournament those four days because ninety nine percent of our vendors are from out of town or out of state, so they're staying at our local hotels, they're eating our restaurants, they're shopping at our stores, and that just helps Bartlesville do some things that with the

city that they may not be able to do. Maria Gas is the is very happy that we have this tournament, and I just think people don't really understand unless you witnessed us how big of a thing it is. Oh yeah, when you get out to the golf course, it's huge, first of all, Yes, But then beyond that, you try going to your favorite restaurant. You see a few more faces in there, which is always a

good thing. Yes, you go to maybe your favorite place, get a little gas means something like it, you had a few more faces, are out of state license plates. That's always a good side. Yes, Yes, as hard as the week is because Ashley and I are up there at the boy six by six at least in the morning, and and as tiring as it is, it's so great to see those those sponsors and just that relationship but that we have with them, and and it's like a big family

reunion. Honestly, we're just having fun doing good work and it goes for a great cause. So I'm so proud of it now. I actually what drew you to being a part of the United Way in this manner? You know, Randy John approached me about five years ago and asked if I wanted to take Yeah, right, I know, and I grew up in new

community, so it's always great to get more involved. I talked to Lisa a lot about the United Way and you know, the different agencies that you support, and so that's kind of what drew me in is getting more involved. Well, I tell you why, it pays off. It pays about big dividends. One. We have a great time and we have a great fellowship, and it's it's just always fun. It's never really a bad day to play golf. No, I don't play golf, but I dress like

right there and be fooled yaooled. But the thing is too, is that the benefit that carries over after that too. Yes, and it's a really good feeling. Yes, it really is. And this year we recognize some outstanding people who contribute to the golf tournament, and this year it's the John family because Randy and his sister Julie, his brother Ricky, his parents,

they all help with this golf tournament. And so the John family you can see, and I've teld this to Randy before, you can see his fingerprints over the success because he's he really was the driving force of making sure that this was an event people didn't want to miss. And we're reaping the benefits of that. And I joke, he jokingly says this is going to be his last year. I hope it's a joke. I think I'm so grateful that he continues to help us from Houston, because it wouldn't be the same

without without him or his family participating. This is great. Now, how do we find out more about the tournament? How do we say I want to sponsor something that's left over? Because you're about pulled up right, you can obviously contact Lisa. She'll get in touch with me and we'll get in touch and send you information about it. The same way with the folks who want to create it. Maybe squeeze in thereforesome well, I mean I don't

hold the power for that. I collect names and then there's other people that do that. Yeah, but I will say that even if you don't get to play, come buy and buy some raffle ticketscause our raffle prizes are a main What do you got, oh well, from those Uni pizza ovens, to to golf clubs, to speakers, to some experiences that our sponsors have have generously donated. I mean there's all sorts of stuff. So we find

that at the website too. It's not at our website. It would just I would encourage you around twelve to come to Adam's golf Course, buy some raffle tickets and see if you're lucky. But if you want to find generally want to find out about Bartlesville Regional United wate just go to our website at Bartlesville UW dot org and or you can call our office at nine one eight three three six one zero four four, or feel free to email me at Lisa at Bartlesville UW dot org. I do have new T shirts this year.

Never shirt that's true, We'll one that is true. So stop by grab a T shirt. They're really they were printed by the print shop and they look great, so I'm super excited about them. Ashley. This is going to be more fun than you know, maybe the town can handle. But we're going to give it our best. Yes right, all right, Well, I want to thank you both for being in here today and sharing this good news with us as well. And remember that is the United Way

got the big golf tournament coming up about a month from today. Yes, alright, thank you. You've been watching and listening to our community connection right here on K one.
