Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome in. It's time now for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust, and we have Lacy Davis in here with It's from Tricotty Tech. Good morning, young lady, good morning. Oh you today aside, it's just you know, full of energy. I'm wonderful today and I'm so happy to be here. Well, we're happy you're here too.
We're going to be talking a little bit about what you're the student services director, and one of the services is, hey, we've got some classes that kind of need to be filled. Got some flex classes too, don't we, That's right. So we have our flex classes for adults. Those classes meet two nights a week and sometimes every other Saturday. They're for working adults
who are coming back to change a career or better their lives. So we've got construction, accounting, medical office specialist, and some computer networking classes available. That's a wide variety that kind of runs a gamut, right, it does, absolutely, So that's most of our flex classes. And basically we want to bring people in from all over different different life paths and different passions
and help them find something that works for them. Well, you know, these flex classes have just been a godsend for people and ever since you started doing them, they have been filling up quite well. Absolutely, and because it's it's right on point with where a lot of people are in their lives. We were talking about this in the green room. We really don't have a green room, but you know, work with me here folks that there are folks who get in their thirties and forties and suddenly, you know,
I think I can maybe do a little bit better by myself. Maybe maybe I could, you know, learn something new and adapt. You're never too old to learn or adapt. And once they start exploring what's available at Try County Tech, well, tickets pretty much written absolutely. And that's why we have it set up the way we do because a lot of these adults still need to work, they have families, and so we want them to come at their their pace and get things done so that within a year they can
start a new career. Now, one of these careers has to do with beautiful smiles, and we've got something that kind of enhances beautiful smiles right there at Cray Counting Technically, right, So we have our dental Hygiene program they are run through OU, but they meet on our campus and the best thing about that is we can provide free or low cost dental cleanings for people in
the community. So if you're needing help with dental care, give us a call because we'd absolutely love to have you come be one of our patients and'd be great. Did we just go to the website make make an appointment Absolutely, Tri County Tech Yeah, Tri County Tech dot edu and under our service as you can find dental, you can also give us a call of The number is nine one eight three three one three three three three. We make
it easy so people can remember that. That's great. You know you are the student services director and part of that is to make sure that the services are there and they're they're not free, they do cost money. And you've been working with the foundation, I understand on a couple of things to kind of help make student services run endly food right, absolutely, So, the Tri County FIT Tri County Tech Foundation is available for adults students who need help
with a tuition assistance. Basically they apply, it's very easy compared to FAFSA, and we can help them get a scholarship to help pay their tuition. We also have emergency assistance available to all of our students, high school or adult. If something comes up in their family that they're needing help with, we can take care of that. We have a food pantry, We have all kinds of assistance for high school and adult students. That all comes to
our foundation, which is donor funded. One hundred percent of our employees give to the foundation at close to seventy thousand dollars a year, So we're very proud of that because we're not required to give to our foundation, but we believe in it so much that we do. And then you know, we're always looking for donors in the community who are willing to help. So we're going to be having a golf tournament. See you made some fun in fundraising
right there. I absolutely, absolutely, yeah, So it's about it. The golf tournament is going to be on October fifth, nice cool weather. Absolutely, we're giving it some time. Our title sponsors are Ascension, Saint John, Jane Phillips and DSR, so we're really excited to have their support in this. So we're looking for teams, we're looking for other sponsors and they can sign up for that at tri County Tech dot edu, backslash golf or give us a call. In fact, I think in September Champagne Caine
is going to be here to talk more about that. Oh yeah, yeah, she kind of touched on it just briefly the last time she was here. I think it's got to come back for the home run, right, absolutely, well, this is going to be great. Also, we've got a special training going on tonight. Right, there is a training tonight that's available for firefighters, so if they're a current firefighter, it is free and
it's called Rehab for Firefighters and Medical Monitoring. We have had a lot of people sign up for that, but we're hosting these firefighter and medical first responder trainings about once a month for free to those individuals, so if they have questions, they can give us a call and get signed up for that. Well, that's great. That it is absolutely great. Now we've got you know, just a little bit of everything that goes on at Trike County Tech.
And when I mean everything, I mean everything everything from courses, which by the way, you said that the regular campus got started last week because these flex classes going on, yes, and now way used to help ensure that no student gets left behind financially correct. So I mean, you guys are buttoning things down pretty darn well out there. That's our goal. You
know, we weren't here to see students be successful. We want people to go on and better their lives and find their passion, find the thing that makes them tick, and anything we can do to help them do that. That's why we're there. You know, along back in the last century, I'll just bring this up. Back in the seventies, it used to be
if you went to a technical school, it was a specialized school. You either did that for you know, nurses training, but not necessarily to be a full fledged nurse, but you know, medical tech also maybe automotive or diesel mechanic or something like that. You didn't have anything like a Tri County Tech where it's all encompassing where you can learn a lot about a lot of things in one place. And you know, thank God for this little gym that we have here in our community. We need to take care of it
right well. And you know, doctor Struggle actually mentioned this at one of the Chamber of breakfasts recently, that we are Tri County Tech District number one because we're the first to incorporate in the state of the twenty nine career techs. Oh wow, that is that is just amazing. Yeah, because you know what, do you start thinking about everything that is done there on the
campus, It just kind of blows everybody's mind away. You start thinking, oh, well, you know that's that school that does some technical things. Well, a whole lot of technical is a whole lot of our world these days, and case folks haven't been taking care of business and picking up on world affairs if you have to turn it on or flip a switch, or do some thinking or some calculating, or you know, just about anything that we do today. You haven't covered even things that fly. Aviation, right,
biggest thing coming down the pike here in Oklahoma. Right. So, we currently have a high school program called Drones and Aviation and those students are taking their FAA Part one oh seven exam and that will help them to be able to fly drones. But it also gets them a foot in the door to become a pilot if they choose to take that route. Our most recent graduate, we had one graduate because it is a new program, he is
going on to the military. Nice. Yeah, you know, I always say if you're going to go to the military, get yourself a ride because that march and stuffs from the birth. Well anyway, hey, it's nice that going into the military in this regard, it's really pretty cool. Uh. You know, We've got all kinds of success success stories, and we could probably write a book with all of the little miracles that kind of take place a Try County Tech. And I'm sure I'm sure somebody's got one going
right now, right right, I have a list. It's not quite a book, but we have so many great success stories and we just love seeing people be successful and it shows now. Try County Tech has earned a very special honors over the years, and one of them is the Malcolm bald Green
right right, what is that? And what is it? So? Several years ago we won the Malcolm Balldridge Quality Excellence Award, and that is a national award for companies that prove that they are holding themselves to quality standards. It's it's a difficult award to win and we're really proud of that process.
You know, we had to win an Oklahoma award first, and then we went through a big process of application and interviewing and a site visit lots of things that had to happen to win that award, and you know, we're really proud of the fact that we have that quality that is that in itself is a nice success story too, right, It really is, because you know, when you think about it, this is right here in our own
backyard. We're earning national awards for excellence. And you know it's no secret because I got a high school, okay, or it gets around, Oh yeah, go out crakeouty tech. Take a few classes and knock some of those out. That's pretty cool. Well do that while I'm still in high school. And the kids kind of you know, they get a good feeling at it's because you know, yeah, I'm I'm an adult now, I'm going to the adult school. I Am going to the adult school. And
they are right. And one of the mottos that we have, especially in the student Services department, is that we're going to treat them like adults until they prove they're not okay, And so we're treating them like their college students, and we want them to be successful in the classroom, in the workforce, and anything we can do to get them there. We're going to make that happen. It's all about accountability and how far you can reach to get
your goals. Absolutely, man, and it's so nice. How do we find out more on the web about Tri County Tech and all that are offers? So our website is Tri County Tech dot edu. You can also find us on Facebook tri County Tech. We we post a lot of our classes and our experiences there, so that's a great place to look. But the website has everything you need to know about how to apply, who to call
to get more information, and what kinds of classes we offer. Now we mentioned the ye classes that start next week and we've got a handful and still have some openings there. But if you're worried about cost, there's a segment on the website where you can go to and you can learn about what's available
scholarships and all other types of assistance. That's correct. Yeah, we have a place on the website for financial assistance and it'll explain our process to you and then you can go from there and get accepted, get your scholarship and move on there you go. See, it's that easy, God gone, it made it easy. I want to thank you for being here with us today.
