Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome moncom. It's time now for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust. Something spectacular is in the air, and here to tell us a little bit more about it, we have a Larry Thrash and kristin current. How are we doing, Key, it's very good for having us back. Well anytime you know who. The door's always open. Christ And how are we doing so far on the Sports Spectacular event? And doing great?

We are close to sold out, so we're It's a fun event. People look forward to it every year and if you're interested in going, I would just say get your get your tickets. Well, where's the big she bang taking place? It is at the Hilton Garden in Saturday August twenty six, so last Saturday of this month, and it'll be at six pm. Larry, who do we have doing the speechifying where we actually had some great timing this year. I'll pay people know what Oral Roberts University did in baseball taking

their team to the College World Series and doing well there. And so this year we have the ore U baseball coach Ryan Former and also one of our locals, Tim Johnson is the Athletic director there at OREU, and so he's going to also speak, So we get kind of double teaming this year and excited about it. We've usually done os U, o U, K State a lot of different ones, and this would be the first time that we kind of highlighted OREU and it's just perfect timing with what they've been able to

accomplish. Indeed. Indeed, and by the way, I understand, sponsorships are out just through the roof this year because of all this. They are. Kristen has done an absolutely unbelievable job. She's double duty. She's our inner director this year, but she's also been our chairman of the Sports Back Character for several years. And I mean this year we've got some great sponsors, some new sponsors, and it's so it's going to be a great event.

Now, Christin this is one of the biggest fundraisers, if not the biggest fundraisers for a very important little service in our community that really does miracles for a lot of people. Right. Yeah, So we've been around. Next year we'll be our fiftieth year here in town. So we do counseling services for really anybody, individuals, children, couples, families. We partner

up with you know, businesses, EAP programs, things like that. So now Samaritan Growth Counseling in Growth Center is a place where folks have any walk of life can really get the help that they need. Sure, Sure, and we this fundraiser is a big reason. You know why we offer fundraisers like this is to help people, you know, based on income, if they can't afford counseling. We never want to turn people away. So United Way is a big supporter of US grants. Fundraisers such as this really helpful.

Now, Larry, you've been with this for a while and you've been through a lot of different fundraising efforts into one fashion or another or at all, but it still comes down to the person. Yes it does. And you know this fundraiser has been one of the most fund over the years because it's very casual. You wear your sports attire. Thanks is going to service, a great meal and great speakers, and we've got some tremendous live auction items this year. We've i know, we've got a couple of week long

trips to some great to Burma and North Carolina. So we've got some great trips lined up we've got where you can go down and drive a NASCAR car down in Texas at the Texas Motor Speedway. So we've got a lot of things that are kind of sports related and we've got to I think we've got over fifty silent auction items this year. Yeah, who's your auction near This year we have Rogers Kelly well cooling back. He always does the auction for us. Yes he is, so he'll be back this year for the live

auction. This is great and the silent auction. Can we do that online? Is that something that we can particularly? So we we post kind of teasers some of our items online. Some of our events we've done online. This one is in person, so we will have the bid sheets out and give you know, about an hour and a half at the beginning of the event to just kind of mingle around, grab a drink at the cash bar,

say hi your friends, and bid on some items. I know this works like you take a look at it, you said, gotta have it, gotta have it, you know. And again, the one of the things that makes us different is our tickets or a lot less expensive than some of the other fundraisers. Seventy five dollars for great time, a meal, great entertainment, and potential to buy something you really really need or just really really gotta have to have. We're gonna take a quick break and we'll be

right back as we talk. The Good Samaritan Sports Spectacular coming up here in just a little bit. And our program here on Community Connection is being brought to you by Arnold Morton ne Camp Funeral Home and Talk Grass Motors ten Howel, Arnold Moore and Kneecamp Funeral Home. You have to start out giving comfort because your role has helped that person walk through the worst day of their life and they're cutting on you and your expertise and they trust you to get them

through this. That's what we try to do and do Exiting New Well walk hand in hand with our clients and say, you know what, we've been down this road. We'll help you down. Here's what we've learned, here's the benefit of our years and this. Let us help you with this. Do you have suggestions? Our job is to relieve the stress so you can grieve and you can heal. And that staff at seven ten South Dewey does

a tremendous job of just putting their arms around people and loving them. And they have one goal and that's to satisfy the family and that final tribute to their loved one. It'll be all right. We'll walk through this together. Arnold Moore and the camp you know home seven ten Dewey, Martelsville. We'll walk through this together. Is it time to start thinking about a new car? But the thought of dealing with the large dealerships is just too intimidating,

too confusing. There is an easier way, tog Grass Motors. Tg Grass Motors doesn't play all the confusing games a large dealerships play. Talk Glas Motors has continually been voted Bartlesville's best Used Car. Dear year after year. Good bye tall Grass Motors today and enjoyed looking at over sixty used cars, trucks and SUVs all price to save you money. Tall Grass Motors Highway seventy five more in Bartlesville, and we're back with more of our community connections that we're

talking about. The Sports Spectacular being put on by Samaritan Counseling in Growth Center right here in Bartlesville. And we have Kristin Gurt Larry Thrash in studio. I want to get more into Samaritan Counseling and Growth Center, Larry. So many people are help and it's like the little miracles that we don't really hear about because it's very, very private, but their miracles all the same.

Well, I believe over the last few years, people have come to understand middle illness, Yeah, is a thing, and it has less of a stigma than it did. Getting help has less of a stigma than it used to have. And we serve out nine hundred different clients and close to five

thousand sessions one hour sessions, and so you can see the impact. And when you impact the life of one person, you impact the life of their family, their friends, and so it has a multiplier effect that you know, you're not just helping one person, and then as that spreads, you're helping the whole community become a better place to live. Indeed you are.

And Kristen during COVID, I believe that Samaritan was the first in the state, if I'm not mistaken, that did the telehealth sessions like right right. We rolled that out like right away, and we still offer telehealth today to some that prefer that option. But yeah, just being able to kind of work with the needs of the community and be able to support them as they

need. And speaking of support, this fundraiser does support the good work that happens every day, right and you know so well, once again, what's the what's the date? The date is Saturday, August twenty six and we're going to be at the Hilton Garden in at six pm. Larry, we got some tickets available, I guess we got a website there you could just kind of punch her in and take care of it. We do. We

have a few tickets left. Again this usually it has in the last several years sold out, and so Kristen can give us how to how to get your tickets, okay, or how to sponsor. We're stay away for sponsors. Well tell you what you're going to be seen by a lot of people, that's right. Yeah. So the website for the event is www dot

support Samaritan dot org. You can go there, buy a ticket, read about the event, you can donate online there, you can sign up to be a sponsor still and you know, if you're not available not in town, that's okay. There's still ways to give and we might appreciate that. So I gotta tell you the website. It's it's really easy. So if you're not very comfortable with the computer, this one's not got a fool again. You're not gonna get lost and wind up you know, someplace you can't

get back. It's all right there, and it's kind of fun to look at. You see a lot of people, like mostly your friends, having fun and one miss maybe you so get picture. That's that's right. And I'm going to paraphrase Roger Skeney. It's not what you're buying now what it's what you're giving to And I think that's the underlying thing here, is that you're giving to help people get better. Indeed, and we're gonna do that with the Sports Spectacular once again in August twenty six is going to be down

at the Hilton Downtown and we've got tickets available. Just go to the website there and we'll see there. It's gonna be a lot of fun. I want to thank you both for being here. Thank you, thank you. Yeah, thanks all radio station for let us come on. Oh the door is always open. We do that for our friends and neighbors, folks, and you're listening to give energy connection right here on KAY one
