For residential and commercial plumbing, call Mason's Plumbing. We're serving you as their priority, locally owned and operated. This is KYFM Bartlesville and KYFMHD one Bartlesville.

Speaker 2

Good afternoon, and welcome to Uliga class Day on one hundred point one y. I'm Kayleie Kellogg and I'm joined here with Cooper Pucket.

Speaker 3

Join us for the next few hours as we give some of our favorite music and tell you about some of our classmates and memories. This segment of Uliga class Days is brought to you by Masio's Pizza, Tri County Tech, Totalk Communications, bartnet IP, and totel CSI.

Speaker 2

So, Cooper, as a senior at Uliga High School, what are some of the clubs that you were a part.

Speaker 4

Of this year?

Speaker 3

So this year, I'm a part of the yearbook and I'm the chief editor of the yearbook, and so that's been a lot of work to get the capture each of the student into our yearbook and try to find moments and their favorite things. And right now we have a few months left to getting pictures and everything, but we are actually at ninety percent of students tagged and so that's a great achievement for us, and we're really excited about that. Another great thing that I'm part of

is our student council. I'm actually the president of the student council, and so we host a lot of events throughout the school year and with our community. And one of these events that we just finished up was Staying Week and that is our philanthropy event for Make a Wish, and so a little bit that I want to talk about that is that we hosted this event for a little girl named Sloan. She's eight years old and she was battling leukemia or she is battling leukemia, excuse me,

and her wish is to go to Disney World. And we were able to host a bunch of fundraisers and Kayleie, what were some of those fund raisers that we hosted.

Speaker 2

Staying Week was such a success. I'm so excited to talk about it. Throughout the week, we about to host a ton of events as a fundraiser, so we had events where people can bring their family and on every single day of the week.

Speaker 4

We had On Friday, we had Dodgeball.

Speaker 2

On Monday, we had a pancake Night where people could bring their families and pay a little bit of money and eat some delicious pancakes. And we had some little tattoos that kids could put on their hands with water. We had some face painting that kids could do. We had on Tuesday, we had a Nerf War Night where kids could bring their NERF guns and just play with their friends and just have a little NERF gun battle.

Then we had a color war where everyone wore a white T shirt and then we had little bags of paint powder and people just got to throw it on each other and the shirt sturned out was super super cool. It was actually really amazing. And then to end staying week on Thursday, we had a flag football so people could register their friends on a team and they just got to have some fun playing some flag football.

Speaker 3

And we were so excited to announce on our big district wide assembly that we had to raise ten six hundred and sixty five dollars for Make a Wish and we were able to fulfill Slun' swish of going to Disney World with some more extra money to go to the next Wish, And so we were so excited for this event and it was such a success, and we want to thank everyone at Uliga High School and all the schools there in Ulaga that helped us, and we want to thank our community for making this event such

a success.

Speaker 2

So along with some of the events that we did during the week, we also hosted a district wide coin drive. So we have a lower elementary and upper elementary, a

middle school, and a high school. And what we wanted to do was we wanted to make some friendly competition, and so every single school we did their own separate coin drive and basically, at the end of the week, whichever building had raised the most money in coins, their principal was going to get slimed at our all school PEP assembly, and so that was such a funny deal.

And we actually had a tie between our high school and our middle school, so our high school principal got slimed, and we had a couple of students from the middle school who volunteered to get slided, which is really funny. But then also in the high school we did our own separate coin drive and it was every grade against each other, so freshman against sophomores, against juniors against seniors, and I am proud to announce that the senior class

won that. And we actually as a little fun as a fun deal, we get a field day with free snow cones and just some yard games.

Speaker 4

So I'm really excited about that.

Speaker 3

Yes, and I want to start off our senior spotlights, and we're going to start off with Ryan Tunison. His hometown is Ooliga and he is a part of the high school basketball team. His future plans undergo to college and become a sports agent. His favorite teacher is Miss Wharford and his advice to underclassmen is your only drowning and potential because you refused to swim in purpose. And now we're going to listen to his favorite song, Chicken Fried by Zach Brown Band.

Speaker 5

You know, well, I'm a chicken fried and cold beer on a Friday night, A pair of jeans that fit just right, and the radio will I spreads up and you eat the shade of a Georgia pie.

Speaker 6

Dollar sign on a piece of mind. Decide come to know.

Speaker 5

So if you agree, have a drink with me, raising glasses for toast to a little bit of chicken fries and cold beer on Friday night.

Shout out to my fan director, mister Smith. So this since my senior year. Obviously, this is my fourth year of participating in jazz band and we have already won two state championships in four a so.

Speaker 10

This year we are hoping for the third.

Speaker 2

That would be such a great, great opportunity for us. And I'm also a part of the student council, so I got to participate a lot in staying week that was so fulfilling in such a great opportunity. But I'm also in our FFA program which has taught me a whole lot about public speaking and just working great with teams and actually one of my favorite senior year memories is when we won state as an Agricultural Issues Forum team and we got to go to nationals in Indianapolis.

We got to spend a week in Indie and we got to see some amazing sides, we got to listen to some great speakers, and that was such a cool opportunity to compete on the national level. But I'm also I do NHS. I've been in the marching band, and our FCA has a great leadership program for kids to be involved. But one of my other favorite senior year memories is as a family we went to go watch Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham on their Summer Worship Nights tour.

That was so so great And actually one of my favorite songs is Gratitude by Brandon Lake.

Speaker 7

I guess it.

Speaker 3

And Kaylee, we've had an exciting event going on at Ulagaw Senior Assassin, Do you want to tell us a little bit about that?

Speaker 2

Yes, So, Cooper Senior Assassin is really really fun. And I know there's some high schools do it, but definitely not all of them. So Senior Assassin is just a little fun game that you can do with your senior class.

And basically, you join this game on your phone and then you get a signed a quote unquote target and you have the location of your and basically the goal is that you have a water gun and you want to find and you want to get them at a time where they're not paying attention and you want to get them with the water gun. So obviously it can't be why you're at school learning or while they're at work,

because that really wouldn't be fair. But I was actually at Chick fil A in the drive through one day and I was getting my food from the Chick fil A worker and the person that had me as their target came up to my window and got me out with the water gun. So obviously that wasn't my proudest moment. And as much as I may be a little salty about that, I'll go ahead and give Bryce a senior shout out. So his hometown is in Nowata and his high school activities are He was a part of the

FFA program and the football team. His future plans are to be an electrician. His favorite teacher is Miss Smith with the AAG department, and his advice to underclassmen are do not listen to certain people. And another cool fact that you might not know about Uliga is the famous Zach Bryan is actually from there. You want to talk about him, Cooper.

Speaker 3

Yes, so Zach Bryan. He was actually graduated from Uluga High School. And we have a song cute up here. It's I Remember Everything by Zach Bryan featuring Casey Musgraves.

Speaker 43

Rod doing Whiskey's Money. He's my mind, beach Town dress only draw in line? Do I remind you of your daddy and Zaby a four leaved old hanging out the past?

Speaker 24

And you're doing.

Speaker 7

The sad from your hair.

Speaker 27

Has being in my.

Speaker 7

Blame it on the beach, grown man, don't cry?

Speaker 44

Do you remember that beat?

Speaker 43

Damn the basement cor I'd sing you my love songs and you tell me about he your mama ran off and he pondering.

Speaker 7

I remember, I Remember.

Speaker 43

Everything, A cold shoulder, closing time, you letting me to stay till the sun wrote strange words come on out of the grown man's mouth when his mind's broke pictures.

Speaker 12

And passed the time.

Speaker 7

You only started like that when you're drinking.

Speaker 43

I wish I didn't, but I do remember every moment on the night.

Speaker 38

You're drinking everything to ease your mind. But where the hell you gonna ease mine? You're like concrete feet in the summer. The birds I come, who souls me? No, you'll never be the man that you always more. But I remember you saying in are.

Speaker 10

Speaker 2

Earlier, when I was talking about some of the activities that I did in high school, one of the things that I mentioned and I absolutely love being a part of is our Uliga varsity cheer team. We had a lot of great memories going to competitions, but definitely. Some of my favorite senior year highlights are the Friday Night Lights. The games were very thrilling and they were so exciting.

We actually had some really fun themes to dress up to, like Wide Out, PJ Night, Jersey Night we had where everyone were red, remember everyone deployed for the different branches of the military. But my absolute favorite one was the peak out for Breast Cancer Awareness. And we had a great group of student sexual leaders who helped organize that, and actually Cooper here was one of those leaders.

Speaker 3

Yes, so I was part of the Ozone and you know, it was one of my greatest memories of senior year is being out there on Friday Night Lights and cheering on our mustangs and supporting everyone and leading the student section. And I want to do a little quick shout out to some of our senior Ozone members. That's Alan McKee and she is planning on going to Pitt State to study elementary education. And then Katie Newton, she is planning

on going to OSU to study nutrition sciences. And I just want to give a quick shout out to our Lagos band. They have great performances and they put on some great music and this next song is just danced by Lady Gaga, and that's the one that they play.

Speaker 49

Bread wine, God, God, I've had a little bit too much.

Speaker 10

She teaches chemistry and forensics, and she puts in a lot of effort in time into teaching of the students at Uligaw and she just sits down and she talks with them and she goes through everything that they do know and she actually cares about the students and that's amazing. Speaker 3

Welcome back everyone. Me and Kaylee are so excited to announce some of our upcoming events and the first one I'm going to be talking about is our Dream Team Day. This is an event that we put the school showcases some of the students in our special education class. We put on a day of special Olympics for them to participate in, and the student council and the special education

teachers are the ones that run it. But the great thing about this event is that it's open to all high schoolers to volunteer to help participate, help mentor help run the events and all the stuff like that. And this event is on April sixteenth, from twelve thirty to two thirty at the Ulugoff Football Stadium And if you have the opportunity, we'd love to see you out there

to you're on these amazing students and their accomplishments. And next up we have Kaylee and she's gonna be talking a little bit about prom.

Speaker 2

So prom at Uliga is one of my favorite events that I've done.

Speaker 4

I actually went all four years. It's mainly for juniors and seniors.

Speaker 2

But if you're an underclassman, you can get invited by an upperclassman. So this will be my fourth prom at Ulagat and I'm so excited. I'm actually the most excited.

Speaker 12

For this one.

Speaker 2

So our prom is April eighteenth in Jinks at the Five Oaks Lodge and we are super excited. One of my favorite things is that the seniors actually get to be a part of picking the theme of Prom. So usually we have two teachers that are in charge of coordinating prom, Miss Deafenbaugh and Miss Jater, and so they will put together a couple of themes that they think would be a good hit, and the seniors actually get to pick between those and then you pick your dress.

You pick your outfits based on the theme, and that's what the decorations are gonna be like. And our prom is usually funded by our junior class. Usually they sell cheesecakes, and those cheesecakes are actual be really really good. So I remember last year as a junior, I sold cheesecakes and it was actually really fun and having to see the fruition of the money raised for prom. It was so great when we got to see all the beautiful decorations. So I'm super excited to pick out my dress. I

definitely need to do that soon. But yes, we are excited for the announcement of our theme and I absolutely cannot wait for Prom. And one of the songs that I'm hoping is going to be played at Prom this year is actually by Luke Coves.

Welcome back to ULIGAUT class days on one hundred point one KYIFM. I'm Cooper Pucket and I'm Kaylee Kellogg. Kaylee. Earlier, you mentioned that you are an active member of ulagat FFA and this is one of our biggest programs at ULAGA. So would you like to tell us a little bit more about some of the accomplishments.

Speaker 2

Yes, so I've actually been an FFA since my freshman year and it has been has had some really great growth opportunities. And one of the biggest things about FFA is the State Convention in at the bok Center in May. So basically a whole bunch of FFA members from all over Oklahoma come for this one state convention and they have a lot of award presentations, have some entertainment. So we actually have some students at uhligaw specifically seniors who are getting awarded.

Speaker 4

At the state invention.

Speaker 2

So we have some state degree recipients Bry Speyers, Boston Shears, Alex Mackie, Tyler, Mathis, Alexandria McKee, Liberty Miser, Mia Newman, Mason Olsen, and cash Ward. But along with the state degree recipients, we also have a WLC scholarship recipient of one thousand dollars. So WLC is a leadership conference for juniors and seniors to go and they get to explore Washington, d C. It's a great leadership conference. I went last year and it was definitely the highlight of my summer.

So JC Treadwell was the recipient, and we also have a Northeast area Star in Agriscience. Alex Mackie will compete for the State Star in Agriscience in April and it will be announced in May. But my favorite part about State Convention is the talent competition and the choir and band. So actually I have been a part of the choir and band for the past three years. And we also have another senior, Boston or Shears, who is competing in the talent competition, and he is gonna be in the chorus.

So the song he is gonna play in his talent competition is actually his own original song. It's called Missing Home. You can listen here.

Speaker 2

As as we're finishing up our senior year, I wanted to talk a little bit with Cooper about some of our favorite memories from high school. I know specifically one of my absolute favorite memories was my freshman year. The marching band at Uliga actually went on a trip to Florida. We went to Universal Studios and Disney World, and we actually got to play in a competition. We got to showcase some of our music to some of the guests

that we're at Disney World. It was definitely such a great time and we had a fantastic turnout with the people that came to watch us, and our parents and all of our supporters just got to watch us do our favorite thing and play music. What about you, Cooper, what is one of your favorite memories.

Speaker 3

One of my favorite memories is the student Council lock ins. Each year, we have a lock in up at the school and we're there all night and we have a action pack night of events. We have a lot of fun. One of my favorite events is the Hide and Clap. We get in the auditorium and we hide in the auditorium and it's kin kind of a version of hide

and seek. Instead of looking for them, you clap whenever they say clap, and it's pretty fun and it's a great time to plan out the year and figure out what we're gonna do and bond with the new members and everything, and Kaylee, do you want to talk about one of your accomplishments that you're most proud of?

Speaker 2

So as a senior, this is definitely something that I've worked very hard for my years in high school. Is actually maintaining a four point zero GPA. Well, well, I've been in high school. But my favorite accomplishment I think is my sophomore year. I actually was an All stater for our jazz band. So I competed against other drummers in the state of Oklahoma, and I was chosen to

be an All state drummer for the jazz band. So basically we got to do a clinic for like two days and then we got to play a performance and play a concert for the people who wanted to come watch. So I remember when I was on that list for the All Stators. I was completely shocked. I was like blown away. I was like, no way, But that was definitely that is something I will definitely remember until I am I'm old in my age.

Speaker 4

So what about you, Cooper?

Speaker 3

One of my favorite accomplishments is that I actually recently got Oklahoma Academic All State and so that was really great to see all my hard work pay off, and actually only one hundred out of the whole senior class out of Oklahoma, one hundred students get picked for this, and it was amazing to get the opportunity to be able to represent uligaw And as the eighteenth out of the whole Luka history of the eighteenth Oklahoma Academic All State.

And so that was an amazing accomplishment. I'm very very proud of that. And now to go to our next song, we have a Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift.

Speaker 12

Yah Ever dream.

Speaker 10
