And welcome malcome mancome Mary Lynn, ma'am with okam is with his heir on part two of our community connection today. And we're talking october Fest. You've got a new word for this, which I like, fam venturous. That is true. We are a very family friendly october Fest. And good morning Tom, and good morning to you boy. This is gonna be a lot of fun. October seventh is coming up faster than you think. I think the billboard yesterday said eighteen days, So now we're at seventeen days in counting.

Maybe all right, Now, we're gonna do this right there by your building. We're gonna do it on Dewey between fourth and fifth Street, downtown in the heart of Bartlesville, just like we have for the past gosh, I guess maybe six seven years. It's been a really big success and we're super excited to be downtown again. It allows everyone with familiarity, of course, but it also allows our downtown partners to really get in the groove and help participate with us. Well. It is going to be a fun groove

because there is something for everyone. Like you mentioned, it is family friends. It's not twenty one and over. This is for the kids as well as the adults, and even for us folks who might be a little bit beyond adult, you know, in our happy years as we call. I think what's really fun about this october Fest is there is something for everyone and all ages. You see grandparents bringing their grandkids, You've see mom and Dad's

bringing their kids. It is just extremely wholesome. Of course, there is beer and wine, but people are very responsible in Bartlesville. They can have a good time, but they know how to have a good october Fest but be appropriated at the same time. Indeed, now we've got all kinds of great things going on here. Some of the games we've got here for the kids especially, we have the Jumpy House, the fun Crafts, giant duck pick game, Jettycat prizes. I'm not sure that we'll get their frame,

and is a shalute bag. So the Shoot Day which I probably am butchering it. You know, in Germany, children when they go to school, they get these giant bags, the shoot Day bags that are filled. They're cone shaped and they're filled with all kinds of school supplies, crayons, colored pencils, pencils, and they are quite something. They're very decorative. And it's it's quite the deal. Some of these shoota bags are as big as

the kids. They may be like three feet big anyway, So every year we've brought it to october Fest where the kids get to have their little bag and they get to fill it with all kinds of goodies, maybe some like pumpkin erasers, some colored pencils, crayons, coloring books, all kinds of fun stuff that they will be able to put in there. We have temporary tattoos that are Fall themed and so always lots of good surprises, maybe a little bit of candy, not a whole lot, but maybe a little bit

of fall candy. The jumping House, though I have to say I'm really excited about it, has multiple components to it, so it has more than one room, It has slides, it has all kinds of features. So I'm hoping that they'll allow adults in it too. It looks fun. Probably not but it, but it looks fun. We do have a lot of crafts that are for the kids. We've got some really fun kind of wooden little ornaments that are very I guess woodland creature themed that the kids will get

to like fox raccoons that they'll get to decorate and take those home. Of course, we have face painting that and then we also have family friendly and then the kids can do some of these games. Some of them maybe not, it depends on the age of the kid. But we have cornhole. We have ax throwing. Unfortunately it's not a real ax, or fortunately it's not a real ax. It's it's a it's a more of like a rubber

ax, and so it is. It is friendly for the family. One of the most popular games that we do every year that actually is quite a family competition is root beer pong. I heard that it gets kind of competitive. It does. We had a mom and a son who played it I think three times last year. But you come on you it's set up with the red solo cups are on the table and you have your little ping pong and you try to get it in typical fashion of playing pong. The cups

are filled with water, not root beer. That would be a little sticky, but the winner gets a mug and they get a nice root beer. So that's always fun. So that's very popular. This year we've also added our Giant Game of Life, which if you've ever played the board game Game of Life. Now it's going to be a giant where you're actually playing on a giant board. The cars that we have that you have to drive in you have to carry around are probably yeah so big. They're made out of

a hard board. It's kind of fun. You get a pet if you land on a pet, you have your little baby if you get babies, and you go through the game of Life, and then we have some fun prizes. We also, excuse me, have our Pet Pet game. And then of course we have our annual zoo Fall. The zoo Fall. If you know what a cake walk is, it's like a cakewalk, but instead of cakewalk, many of our businesses downtown and throughout Bartlesville donate really cool prizes.

And so you buy a ticket to play this game and you've you're umber is drawn after the music stops, and you get a really cool prize. Now, mary Lyn, we also have some that are very much for adults of the games. Yeah. So we have hummer Schlagen, which is the traditional game that you have a giant piece of wood, you have a nail, and then you have to drive the nail into the piece of wood with your hammer. And there's very specific rules for that, and so that one

is always for adults. It could be potentially dangerous, of course it's not, but anyway, and then we also have our beer stein competition, which is your good old fashion. You have to get your leader of beer, hold your hand out, you can't bend it, and we see who can hold their beer the longest it's filled to the brim. We have the beer stein Relay, which is also fun and quite entertaining. We have groups of four They have to do a little relay and basically pass the beer stein off

from each leg of their team to each other without spilling any beer. The team who does it the fastest and who has the most beer in their stein that is the team that wins. And of course we have prizes for that. So I think overall again we have a little bit of something for everyone. Tickets are on sale right now. Tom we ask about that because it looks like we have a special deal. Yes, right now, students can get in for seven dollars. It'll go up to ten on the day of

the event, or actually October first is the last day. They're on sale October two through October seventh. On the day of the event, tickets will raise adults are twelve right now, they'll go up to fifteen at that time. And then the really exciting part that we're so thankful to be able to

do is children and twelve and under are free. We again really try to make all of our family events very child friendly but as also pocketbook friendly for the parents so that they can come out but that their kids can enjoy all of this for free. And the games are also all free. So now this is a lot of fun, and we do raise money because the music festival that we have every June and the children's programs that go along with it, and they're not free, so we have to we have to kind of

help it out a little bit. And this is a fun way to do it with okay a music with October Fat it is critical for us through October Fest, Chris Kendall, our hashtag Giving Tuesday events. These are fundraisers for us, and so every penny matters, and you know, we try to do it maybe in a different way in the sense of having a big gala. We try to do events that really involve the whole community but also bring

the Bavarian German culture as a benefactor for Mozart on his behalf. We try to bring that to Bartlesville, so we really hope people will come out and support us. And I should say all of the children's games are free. Some of the adult games cost a little bit to play, but they're not bad. They're all affordable. Now, we got all kinds of food, We have all kinds of beverage, but we also have a great way to

burn off those calories too. Live music. Who do we have. We have Makshnell, Lost Capella, and of course everyone's favorite King Cabbage, so we are very excited to have everyone back. We also have the German American Society Dancers coming back. They are fantastic. They will get everyone in the mood to do some nice polka dancing as well as the Chicken Dance, so that's always a big win. And then as far as the beer and wine, Painted Horse I'm sorry, not Painted Horse, the Palace Rooms is coming

to provide the wine for us, and we're very excited. They're also going to have pretzels. We have Scissor Tail Brewing Company, Fat Toad Brewing Company, and Cooper and mill Is back, so we're excited to have them back this year. So you can't go wrong with all the October fusts, some the loggers and the pilsners, all the wonderful beers that will be handcrafted. They should all be amazing and I'm very excited to partner with Palace Rooms.

David Callwait has just been amazing. He's been a huge help. He's helped he's also on our board, but he's also helped us put together all of the beer vendors for the season, so we can't go wrong. Thank you, David. Now we've been telling people where they can get the prices of the tickets. Where do we go online? How do we reach you there? So you can go to okayammusic dot org and click on the October festab

and it takes you right there, lets you buy your tickets online. If you would like to volunteer, we still desperately need some volunteers for our children's games and some of our adult games. The shifts are not that bad. You would get in for free and then you could enjoy the rest of your time there. So if you're willing to give us an hour and a half to two hours of your time, then we are so happy to have you come in and let you in for free. Mary Lynn mim with OKAM,

thank you for being our guest, absolutely, thank you. Alrighty folks today tune the news is next
