Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome. It's time now for our community connection right here on K one. The one you trust and the lovely lady I have here in the control room with me today is from OKAM and it's miss Rose Hamersman. How are you doing? I'm doing great? How are you well? You know something, You're always great. I've never seen you without a smile and that mus been that OKAM and the kids programs are starting soon. Oh it is very soon,

just less than forty days away. Wow. We that's amazing. I know it's kind of scary, but I'm ready. So we're gonna begin with Friday. It's the second of June. Our festival runs from June the second through the eighth, and then we blend right into the main festival and opening night. But first on the second, we're gonna have son. We're going to meet all at at SunFest and our performance is at six and it's with um Michael Loman and he is the talk Tom Native American and he is going to

do dance wow and hoops. It's a it's a thing that they use, you know, in their pow wows. And anyway, he's going to show us how to use them. We're gonna have them, so we want the kids dot com. This is gonna be fun. Yes, And of course SunFest Friday and Sunday always great. Sunday it might rain, but Friday is always good. We've had rain before, you know out at the SunFest. Well, we're going to have a great time out there because that's always beautiful.

And it's going to be at the bandshell. Okay. So so when they come, they can go either to our booth or they can already have pre registered. I would hope that they would pre register, and we'll talk about that a little bit here. Let's do that. And then on the word is um the tea, Princess Tea, Prince and Princess Tea. And our main theme today is going to be for that date is Mary Poppins. So you know it's a Disney thing and all the things happen and we have

lots of good things. That is the only event that will cost through the whole whole six days. Dan. On Sunday, we're going to go to the paint shop, the Boots and Brushes paint shop, and we're going to paint using music. Oh nice, and a book and lots of color from the palette. This is going to be for all the senses, and we're going to use the the Noisy Paint Box. It is a book that is written by a an artist, so that'll be exciting for the kids. Oh

wonderful. They also have to do for is just come. That's it, that's it, that's it. And um we're going to do a session at one and also at three. Oh wow. Nice. So some of the older kids can come if they would like, at the three o'clock one and the younger at the one o'clock and then that evening is Boogie being Go and it'll all have to do with the Disney themes again once again, once again.

And then on Monday we're going to go to the library. Miss Laura, who is the librarian for the children and I are going to do It's a book and it's never playing music and right next to the zoo. You know. I think all kinds of things are going to happen that day. That's at ten, then at one we're gonna go. At most this goes to a concert, okay, and Moses is a deaf child show all of those that are and have that kind of challenge. Challenges, Yes, through

life can come, oh wonderful. And we have a new little thing. I was reading up on it and you they can hear music and vibrations through a balloon and also through their feet. Show when it's done on YouTube, and we have and then we're going to have somebody real playing the instruments too, a little challenge. I first learned that in college with a friend of mine who was very part of hearing almost death. He said, I could feel at my feet. Oh yeah, really, they just take off their

shoes and they did. It was just fine, okay. And then um, later in the day, then at one o'clock I said that one we're going to go. But then um, at three, we're gonna do eighty eight instruments. Now that is a lot of book of instruments, but if you look at a orchestra, there are lots of instruments in that orchestra. So that will be and the library I can have at least one hundred and fifty children, and we have filled that at one time. I bet you

have. Then we're on Tuesday. We're going to come back on the sixth and we're going to go to Ambler Hall and we're going to have story and music and instruments. Wow, I'm gonna do um. That one's going to be Meet the Book. The Book will be Meet the Orchestra, and then um at one we're going to do the Bear, the piano, the dog and the fiddle. Oh. That is something. It has all kinds of action and it's kind of like an action book where we have music and instruments,

just an education for them. Then in the evening we're going to go to Harvesty Regional Library in Connor's Cove. That is a huge library and they have a like a theater in there, and I'm going to do a puppet show okay from Stone Lion. And then we're on Wednesday, we're going to come back to Father Lynch Hall and we're gonna do two sessions, two different

puppet shows, one at ten and one at one for Father Lynch. And on Thursday it is karaoke in the Community Center at and on stage in the main stage, so parents, bring your children, don't forget to register and come and watch our children play and dads sing. And then in the evening Jim Green is going to come into imagine show for us. Nice for the opening night of our main festival and the end of the children. Wow, this is a jam packed schedule. Rose, I don't know how you pull

it off every year. Well, I'll tell you. I have lots of good help. I'm going to have some of the interns that we'll be coming and joining us again this year, and then myself and Mary Lynn and John are going to help with the tea good and so I think it'll just be fun fun. Oh, I think it will be too. Now, how did mom and dad find out about this? Where can they go? Where

they can go to? Um, we're going to do something different, going to have our tickets at the BCC okay, and then they can register and register their children underneath the free it's free, so they can register them because an RSVP is really good for me. That's how I'm going to track. And they can also come to the office or they can go to okay and music dot org Okay and it'll be on there and hopefully sometime this week, so parents, please watch, it'll be there. It'll be up and running,

ready to go. Now, there's only one that we have a cost, and that's the tea. And there's a reason for that. That's only one that has a charge. It is because we want them to dress come and have a good time. And I have a Disney theme of Mary Poppins, and you know we always did kind of like games and fun things, and they have tea and and all kinds of little sandwiches and desserts and it'll all be in that theme, all included in that all included. Wow,

that's nice. And it's not going to break the bank either, no, I hope not. No. Fifteen dollars that'll be. That'll be a day well spent for these youngsters. It will. It takes about two hours. And Laura Lae from she's a harpist and she is coming back and playing the Harvest and with the same tunes and things from Mary Poppins. How nice is that. So one of the surprises that you might see will be two people that address, one as Vert and one as Mary Poppins. So they're going

to be joining us too that day. Oh my goodness sakes, this is gonna be fun. And this is the way we do it with the children's programs. It's called especially for kids through O KAM And again we'll have a little story on this on our website Bartlesloe Radio dot com and a little bit. And we'll also correct people to the website and also to the BCC so they can sign up for the Difference years and they can come into the office too. That's the one with the buffalo with all the music notes on it

right out front. You can't miss that one. Oh well, you can miss it right now because the wind kind of took care of our little buffalo. Oh really, it wasn't aware of that. Yeah. He's getting fixed though, and we're hoping that he'll be done before too long. That was a very windy night and he ended up across the street with lots of little wounds. Oh well, well, we can get the buffalo doctor out there now. Now you've been with OKAM for a while, I have, and

this has been a labor of love for you. It has. It is I love the kids, my profession. I worked in the medical field for forty two years, so this is like my out This is where you have fun. It is is all these times, all this time, and before you know, it's like when I sit down and I think about planning it while then I like, um, drop things down. Then my head kind of goes in a spin and then I think, oh, I don't know

if that'll work. But then, you know, technology is wonderful. I don't know how to use it very well when it works, but I get online and I look at the books and then I kind of go from there. Wow, because you can YouTube them. Yeah, that seems a lot of time. It does. It does. And then you know, we ordered them in and we go through them, and if we don't like them, we like change. I might change, but pretty much. And sometimes when you know, adults come and they go, oh, you know,

I kind of like this one better than this one. You know, they would make a comment. So my little ring gets back to work. I see, well once again. It starts on Friday, June second at SunFest and then we go from there. But for the full schedule, we will have that posted and we'll make sure everybody knows what's going on and when, where and how, and we'll give everybody all the directions and help we can to make sure that we have as many kids as we can possibly serve.

Okay, I'm going to hopefully too within the next week or so, you know, because school goes out, Yeah, it does. There'll be a flyer at many places in town. That especially the schools. I hit the schools, Oh yeah, what's where they are? And some of the day cares and the preschools, you get them all. I try watch for the

flyer coming home with your child. Yes. And also if you get in stuck or something, you can always call the office us and that number is three three six nine nine zero zero, or you can come here and I'd love to see who's coming. You know, that is one of the friendliest offices in town. Yeah, it Rose. Thank you for being with us here and thank you for representing OKM. So well well, thank you all right, we enjoined this.
