Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome. It's time for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust. And they had so much fun a couple of weeks ago. The ladies from the Lions have come back. How are we doing today, Evelyn and Mary doing great? Well, it's a pleasure having you in here

today because we got so much to talk about it. You know, the Lions Club does so much for our community, but we're kind of asking folks to maybe have a little bit of fun and help the Lions Club as we get ready to help the community again. Yeah, we've got a couple of big things going on. What we have coming up first, well, this Saturday, we are having the fundraiser for the pancake breakfast. Oh my goodness sakes. And I'll tell you what. This cooler weather, hot pancakes sound

pretty good, don't they? Sure? Dude, Mine goodness sakes, it's going to be great. And we're gonna do that down at the club right Community Center building, our Community center on twenty nine hundred southeast Toxxedo. It's the lot where we sell our Christmas trees. That building is where we will be having the breakfast and tickets are just seven dollars for adults, four dollars for children. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, bacon,

you name it. We're having my favorite groups. Yes, and you know there is a talent to making pancakes. Oh yeah, there is, Yeah, there is, because mind have never turned out and we have experts behind the food line and you got to flip them just right at the right time. Yes, man, you know I wind up scortch on one side and the other side gets kind of And we thank are many many sponsors who help us raise funds for this. We couldn't do it without our sponsors. And

of course all those who come out on Saturday, we appreciate that. And you know one thing we didn't talk about too is we would really like to have new members join our group or just come and check us out. Come to your meeting on second or third Thursday evenings at six thirty and join our lines club. We have a lot of fun doing our projects. Pancake breakfast

is great, So come out on Saturday morning. If you're headed out to the fields where you know hunting seasons started already, come back in for breakfast between seven and eleven, thirty seven, thirty and eleven. Got that background, that's okay. And if you need a to go box, we will take care of that too. We'll send some to go boxes out for you guys here thready up so early, Oh my goodness sakes. So it's really easy out. What's the cost on is not much? Seven dollars, that's

it. Four dollars for children, it's all you can eat. Wowly, So there you go. That is that is really a great deal. And of course the money raised going to help the Lions Club with so many of our projects that going on. We've got the Christmas trees coming up to We've got a little wood choppers all ready to go here for our chop shop conchop Well. Some of our sponsors for the breakfast, I'll just name it.

We've got Capital Advisors, Diversified Systems Resources, Tulsa Community Foundation, Conco Phillips, Jim Moore, agent with State Farm Bank of Oklahoma, Brian Little Haley, Kent CPAs, Kreeger Services, our wonderful Bartlesville Radio. You guys are

always great sponsors for us and help us out so much. And I've got a couple too, I'd like to add we've got Laura Wood from Financial Advisor Services with Wells Fargo Advisors and Dane Warner, yes, movie producer, and he also Owns Warner Audio Visual Consulting and design, Jane Phillips Society and Tate Boy's Tire in Service or a few more to ads. My goodness, you're in great company. We are, and we still have sponsorships and money coming

in and so it's so nobody's left out. Nobody's gonna be left out, and uh, you know, you can just show up Saturday morning. We got tickets and yes, yes, so you don't have to make a reservation. Same price at the door, same price, it doesn't go up. That's wonderful. And this fundraiser, as well as our Christmas fundraiser, helps fund our local Vision projects, which is very important to us near and dear to our hearts. We were in how Many last a couple of weeks ago

and met a fellow who he was in his seventies. He received his very first pair of glasses from the Lions Club when he was a youngster, and so we help provide eye exams and prescription glasses for those who are need in our community. Of course we recycle. We do all the recycling as well. But we also have a project that is kind of new. It's called kid Site and it's a national project. Is not just Bartlesville. This is our screening project that we take to schools, daycares, public as well as

private. And it's a retina camera that when you place it about six feet from a child, we can screen up to eighteen years of age only it's non invasive and you take a picture of their eyes and we can screen for up to eight diseases of the eye. By doing this, we don't diagnose.

We just we print out a report and give it to the parent, or if we're in school, we give it to the teachers to send home to the parent and it contains a referral for is what is screened and where they may be deficient and then they can take that to a doctor and get an exam. So that's really important for us. Kids Site is an awesome, awesome project and we're just really glad to be able to take it to

the schools here. That's amazing. It is, it's wonderful, and so these fundraisers are very important to give us the funds to be able to do these things. And when you come out to the pancake breakfast, if you've got some eyeglasses that you would like to donate, please bring them. We are also collecting hearing aid, electronics and electronics, so we appreciate any donations.

And you know you On a personal note, my mother had a really bad vision and so she went through a lot of surgeries and I got to witness firsthand and now here I am with glasses the importance of eye exams, eye care and being able to afford glasses. I mean, can you imagine going through life without being able to see? Wow. So it's very basic something that we need. So we enjoy what we are doing. And like Ellen said, we have a good time. I've never seen a lion sad.

Your club has a lot of a lot of pep, a lot of ambition, a lot of goal oriented people, and a lot of fun folks do and I think we I probably should have said fun first, but you know that's how it goes. But you know, you can tell if you if you want to become a Lion, this is a great way to get introduced. Or if you have a question or maybe you're thinking about joining a service club come out to the breakfast on Saturday morning, and it is to

ask a few questions and say howdy. I mean you're going to probably run into a lot of folks you know already, Yes, absolutely, absolutely, And Christmas is coming up. We put our tree lot up this week so we are ready. We're ready for the delivery which will come from Michigan in probably ten days to two weeks. And the cold weather kind of got us prepared for that. So we put on our jackets, got the tree lot

ready and we're expecting that delivery. And this year, in addition to selling live Christmas trees from Michigan, we will be selling live wreaths at the Treelot on Tuxedo Boulevard as well as two Saturdays in December, December two and December ninth at the Christmas in the Ville. Nice so nice. We will have a presence down there and these are all live wreaths, and so we're really

glad for the people who help us purchase the items for their families. It's just a win win for us to be able to provide this for the community. Oh, this is going to be so nice. We got the big breakfast coming up trees coming in wreaths on top of that, and this is just going to be a sweet time a year for it. It is again another fun time. We have multi generations that have come out to our Christmas tree lot and we get to hear the stories about when they were kids and

the grandkids and then now they're bringing their kids out. So again it's it's just very rewarding work. But as it is said, if you do what you love, it's not like work at all. This is not like work because we enjoy it and to see the fruits of our labor. We have a great team, really great team of volunteers and so come join us. All right now, Evelyn, I understand we had a couple of upgrades to the clubhouse. Yes, oh my, our clubhouse has been totally totally renovated

from top to bottom. New bathrooms, new flooring, new ceilings, new lighting, new electric which now we don't blow fuses when we're getting when we're serving up pancakes, we need to have it. We had to make sure that we were spreading those, so we have new electrical. The building is We don't make money from the building rental, but we do use it of course for our club meetings as well as our pancake breakfasts. We rented out to groups, families, people who need a place to have an inexpensive We

keep the prices reasonable. Need a place for a party, a shower, waiting reception, it's a great place to rent. We've got the playground that's right outside the door, just a few steps away, so it's great for family reunions. And rentals are being taken from now to the end of the year course, and we're already booking into twenty twenty four, so if you book in November or December, I know a lot of our weekends are already

booked, but there are still some available. So you can call for any questions about Lions or the rental information is nine one eight three one nine seven one zero and that number will get you in touch with a Lion and you can find out more information about the club, rental and everything else that we do. My goodness sakes one called at all huh yes and a real person answer yes. And it's a great place to have business meetings as well.

And we have a big full kitchen. I mean it's it's really pretty. We really have access bathrooms, so I'm glad for that. And when it gets warm, you've got a beautiful park there for the kids to burn off all that energy. And even when it's cold, you know they will do that. They will. They see that they're going put on the gloves on the talking adults with adults, let's go play, go burn off some energy. They're not limited by the weather. No, no, they're not.

They just don't want to have a good I don't know if the community knows, but there's adult exercise equipment out there as well, so we did not know that. When you're running by, if you're doing your three hog run or whatever, stop in. There's Yeah, there's a chin up, there's a a push up bar some and there's instructions on the equipment so you can tell exactly how to use it. So that's good because you know, I need instruction after the pancake, after the pancake breakfast, you have to work

some of it off. Yeah, yeah, yeah, in moderation. There you go. Well, this is great. So November fourth, be out there at the Clubhouse on Tuxedo and we'll see you there from seven thirty thirty to eleven am at seven dollars for adults, for for kids, and of course we've got the Christmas trees coming out, same darn place and just about

two weeks to ten days they'll be ready to go. And don't forget the wreaths, because we have wreaths this year, not only there, but also a couple of days downtown at Christmas in thevill Why did you guys get around? We do. And the lot opens the day after Thanksgiving, that's traditionally for us, always the day after Thanksgiving November twenty fourth, and our first weekend that we're open. We sell usually close to half of our inventory.

So you don't want to wait to get your tree. We'll show you how to keep it nice, keep all the needles on it if you don't want to put it up right away. But yeah, come out and purchase it, and I'll just mention too. The wreaths are a great, great way if you're thinking of someone who's shut in, someone in a nursing home, or someone who can't care for a live tree, get them a wreath and you can decorate it and that brings a little bit of that spirit Christmas spirit

in the home for those who can't have a live tree. And the smells, and along with the Christmas trees, we also have the tree stand. We have the bags which are great for disposing of it. And people that come back every year tell us how fresh these trees are, how long they live once come off the truck with a little bit of snow still from Michigan. One lady, after looking over our tree light, she said, well, what do you spray your trees with? And I said, uh,

water, and that's all. So. Actually, the day after Friday out there at the tree light is basically green Friday. Right, Okay, got you, I got you, all right, ladies. I want to thank you for being here with us today, Thanks for sharing. And it's your Lions Club right here in Bartlesville. See you Saturday morning out there at the clubhouse. Folks,
