Good morning, good morning, good morning. Welcome, welcome, welcome. It's time now for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust, brought to you by our law Niem Funeral Home, get Real Ministries and Tall Grass Motors and we're just tooling ride along. It's a good day for bike ride kind of risk, but we are talking about a bike drive with the Elks Lodge ten sixty. Good morning, ladies, Good morning

in Unison. I love that Rebecca and Teresa. Welcome to the studio and we I've heard so much about this bike drive already, and I understand that this thing just got started not all that long ago, but it's moving along enough, very good direction. Yeah, it really is. We just started what about a week or week and a half ago, and we've gotten the community has been so generous, but we still need more bikes. So you know, we're hoping that we can still get our community to get in there

and donate some bikes for these families that are struggling. You know, we want it for Christmas, and so we started out with the goal of doing sixteen bikes, which we have already got our sixteen bikes from our community. Now in the next ten days. We would like to at least double that, so that the more bikes or the more money donated, the more families we can help this holiday season. And I understand the day. You know,

there are families that are struggling. Oh yeah, and many have been identified, and sixteen is a good start, but there are plenty of more trees that kind of need a little filling in underneath. Oh yeah, and a lot of families are struggling this year because of the economy. Oh Indeed, elkskob has been doing great things for our community since what nineteen oh seven? Yes, wow, ye what raised over fifteen million million with an M million with a M got I say on behalf of everybody who lives here.

Thank you out that. That's what we do. That's what we're about. Our slogan is Elkscare, elk Share. Well I'm living right up to it, yes now with the slip you're right out there by Walmart, you're behind it. You got a nice building there. I was in it recently and I'll probably be in there tonight. I think I'm gonna be playing my guitar. I was invited to go scream and shout and let it all out tonight,

So that'll be a treat for me. I don't know about anything else, but I was in the building a few weeks ago because the folks wanted to show me around. And although the building's good signed on the outside, how do you make it so it gets so huge on the inside. I mean, that is it is, But you're there for a lot of different groups, and you partner with a lot of different groups, and like you say, the Elks care, the Elks share. That's right. Now.

We've got to think kind of going on tomorrow, don't we We do. We're doing a big country breakfast. This is to benefit the Blue Star Mothers, but we're coordinating it as a Veterans Day celebration, so all veterans, any veteran or currently active servicemen can, women can eat for free tomorrow. Family and guest and other people that want to eat just come in with make a donation for ten dollars that goes to the Blue Star Mothers. Oh absolutely,

yes, yes, ten dollars seems kind of skinny. And the breakfast is amazing. Oh yeah, it's This is actually my first year with the Elks, and I'll tell you what I've eaten there every time they put on a breakfast because it's so good, a little we got to come out and see it and taste it. And yeah, and there's also going to be a Veterans walk, yes, and that they're starting. They're meeting at the Elks Lodge at six tomorrow morning. They will step off I think that's what

Chris calls it at six thirty. I believe the route is they're going down Frank Phillips cutting across Johnstone and maybe back up Adams where they're going to end at the Elks Lodge. They're anticipating that to be about nine in the morning, nine point thirty. We have a lot of older veterans, so him might take them a little bit longer to make that walk waiting. I'm sure.

I'm just saying, well, we also have a vehicle that for those who can't make it all the way and they just need we'll pick them up, give them water and you know, help them out. And if you can't do the full walk, that's fine too. Just come to the Oxen join us for breakfast. And I believe they're going to do a flag ceremony after year. Yes, oh nice, Yes, that is really going to be special. Yes, yes, yes, Now when we get back to

the bikes here, how do people go about making a donation? How do we you know, we hear this and it's like, okay, where do I go to help? How do how we do this? Very good question. So all you need to do is contact me. I'm Rebecca and my number. I'm going to give you my number because I need that, and I'll come and collect the money that you want to donate. So my number is AERA code four eight zero five five zero zero six seven three, And

any donation will help. You know, we've been getting anywhere from one hundred to two hundred, and you know, the more the merrier, the more bikes we can get, the more kids we make happy. And I understand you've been working with our partners at Walmart too. Oh absolutely. Walmart has been amazing. They even donated a gift card so we could buy more bikes,

and they've been giving us a really good deal on the bikes. So we are thrilled and we got all fifteen bikes that we have so far is a fifteen sixty sixteen and you know, at a great price, you just can't beat Walmart. They are so good to the community. Nice to have them as your back door neighbor, you know, oh yeah, yeah, yes they are. Now with the Elks organization being around for such a long time, a lot of people are familiar with the Elks, but they're not

quite sure. You know, Okay, what else do do I have to be a military person? Do I have to be any kind of a or do I just have to be a good, good citizen? You just have to be someone that wants to give back to the community. That is handshaking. Well, we do have an initiation. But as long as you want to be an el Okay, you want to help this community, you're in all right, that sounds good. We really need more members. We need

more people to help, you know, with the community. And you know, so right now, I don't even know how many members we have, but we could sure use more. So all they have to do is come check us out. You know, it's going to be a good time. I mean, this thing that we're doing tomorrow with the Elks is so good in so many different ways. Now, if folks are coming out to the breakfast, they're going to donate and they're going to make sure that we take

care of the loost our moms. But if they got a little money left over, and I'm sure that some of them will, can they just say, hey, can you put this towards the bikes? Oh? Yes, absolutely, yes, yes, that would be amazing. Actually yes, Well it's good to know, because you know, I don't want to be like somebody who's acting out a turn saying well, okay, what about a bike? You know they have it, and somebody look at me like what Yeah.

And if you want to just you know, come to the breakfast and have a good meal and say hey, I'm going to donate money for a bike, more than welcome to take your money. Yeah. Well it'll be there from eight to noon tomorrow, okay. And also our deadline for our bike drive is December eighth, all right, so that gives us time to make sure that Walmart has all the bikes and we can get them to where

they need to go. Yes. Yeah, we are going to do a presentation on the sixth, sixteenth December where we will have all the donors come and all the kids that are receiving the bike, so we can to be surprised. Yes, yes, it'll be a big party. Yes, somebody better take some pictures. Oh yeah, take pictures. Absolutely. We're going to take a quick break and we'll be right back with our friends Rebecca and

Theresa in just a moment.
