Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome in. It is time now for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust. We've got young people in here, and that's because they're part of the Children's Musical Theater. We've got a part of what
we call a double cast. It is the twenty fifth anniversary of CMT and we're going back to the beginning with the Cinderella, so we have also here with this year, we've got the two Cinderella's Life, Marie and Saphia Hewitt. Also to for Jackson Miller and Carter Wells. How are we doing there? Kids? First of all, we've got to stop the presses. We've
got an important announcement. We have an important announcement. Today is in fact one of our costume mistress's birthdays, one of our my Grandma, all of our Grandma. Happy birthday, Tammy Buyer. Great. Now, we've got the show that's coming up at the Center and I like it because I just called it the Center so really cool, Yeah, very cool. It is
coming up on July eleventh through the fourteenth and Children's at Musical Theater. You better get your tickets early because there are not many left if you are waiting around too long. I found this out when we first moved to town about five years ago. Oklahoma went like that, and then we figured out that that's kind of what happens. Just like that, they disappear. It's like imagic yack. So get your tickets now and get yourself a great saint.
I want to talk to the ella's first life. What's it like being in a big production like this? And you've been in similar ones, haven't you. Yeah, it's really amazing. My first show was actually Oklahoma, but this is my first lead during your main stage. It's a lot of fun because I get to work with all my friends all day, like a full school day, actually more we say really late. But it's a lot of
fun. And I get to work with all my favorite people. And which fella is Ella's fella that is part of So tell us what you like about this. This is a different role for you. You never really play the same type of I'm always playing the like silly, goofy animals or the all the just crazy stuff. But now I get to play something that is serious and more human and has deeper emotions than just being funny. The whole time. So it's I really enjoy the like the challenge of trying to master the
role. Well, this is going to be great. We have the other Ella, Sophia. How you doing? This is going to be fun. I'm doing great. It's it's a lot of fun. And I keep thinking, like when we're in rehearsal, I'm like, oh, blocking is my favorite part. But then we go to dance and I'm like, oh my gosh, waltzing is so much fun. And then we go to music and I'm like, I love singing. So it's really just like such a well rounded experience that we get to do all these things, and I'm just like
so happy all the time. I'm just like, this is the best effort. Well, it sounds like the best medicine for just about anyone who's interested in being in Oh for sure. And uh and who's Ella's fella here? Jackson? Hey Jackson? How you doing? I'm good. I'm ready to be having a like this. It's it's different. I I've never had to deal with like the whole like being in love thing in a musical. The last show I did, I fell in love, but the woman only wanted
me for my money, So I know the feeling. I've been there, brother, you can trust me, okay, But it's it's a really fun experience. I love the waltzing is probably one of my favorite things. Really do we do pretty impressive lists? I would say, yeah, it is. When you get it right, man, you're just like so happy. You're like, oh my gosh, I was the best lift ever. I didn't hit the ground. Those are the best lifts really. So Cinderella, it's a it's a story as old as time. I'm almost and we've got
so many characters, how many? How many I'm gonna say, kids. How many participants do we have in this We have sixty sixty four kids? Sixty four that's well he had a double cast. Uh yeah, oh yeah for sure. Now I understand some folks from twenty five years ago in this first place are now directing and steering and choreographing and coaching and everything else. Our director Caitlyn Coggle, she played Cinderella in the show twenty five years ago.
And then our music director ROBERTA. Eberhard, she played one of the stepsisters. Yes, and then our dance team is Eric Ibel and Lily McGhee and they I don't know they're they're just cmt alum and they've done shows Lily has and stuff. So Jackson, what's it like being a young fella and having all this experience around you gaining a lot of insight. Yes, it's
I'm talking to Caitlin who she's done, she's worked on Broadway stuff. And Eric he went he was on the Cinerella National tour a few years ago, and so he tells us these stories about what it's like to work in the industry, and it's really insightful and blankly getting back to you, you know you you've grown into so many different roles here, describe this one. How
is it different from the ones you've had before? This one's definitely different because you know, it's my first lead, but it's a lot more responsibility and I have a lot more lines to learn. But with Cinderella, what's really different about this version in particular is she's not just like this really kind person, but she's also really smart and she cares a lot about her people, and she wants to make a difference, and I think that matters a lot.
That matters. It sounds like a lot of young people, very idealistic in wanting to get that across, and of course, you know kind of being pushed aside all the time, you know, like that's a common feeling with young people too. Nobody takes it seriously, but you get to be kind of like the shoe guy, don't you. Yeah, it's it's a lot of fun with this version. Like By said, it's a lot different from the original story because we're all just we have human emotions, like,
we have different things we have to go through. So the whole point with Tofer is that he doesn't know who he is yet and he doesn't know what he wants. But every time he sees Ella, he's like, this is what I want and this I know who I am when I'm I'm with her. And I think another thing that Caitlin is really like drilled into us is not being the same. So like my Ella is going to be different from Blyce Ella, and his Toef is gonna be different from Carter's Taufer because we
are different people, so we're gonna play it different ways. And I think that's really important for young actors like us to be able to develop our own characters and do something different and not just should be the same show every night. It makes it special, which is why you should buy two tickets. I'm buying four. I'm seeing every I'm seeing everybody. By golly, this is a big treat to our community. And it's been that way for about
twenty five years and it never fails. It's always, uh, it's always something a little bit different. But you know, I I gotta I gotta tell you here, Sophie, You're not flying in this one. That's all. That's a last year you killed it. But are there going to be any kind of special effects? I know you said you were riding a horse. I am riding a giant, classical plastic horse. Okay, you are
gonna know that. And one of the really cool things is that there are a couple of transformations in this show, so costuming wise, there is in the rack and then there's some theater magic and she's in a ball countin. Yeah, to come and see it. Well, that's why I'm buying four tickets. Yeah, I miss something the first time. This is gonna be
great. This is fun for the whole family. I want to parents, grandparents, uh and uh, you know, even if you don't have children who are in the theater, anymore or haven't had children yet, especially, go see this because once you see how this comes together and you see the teamwork that goes in, when you finally get around to, you know, making your parents grandparents, this will be something for your kids to get involved in. Just just planning to seed there. That's all I'm saying. That's
all I'm saying. But this is great. Where do you rehearse I rehearsed at Madison Middle School? Okay, they got a big, beautiful stage up there, and then we don't use any of that use We use their cafeteria, their gym, and the gym. And their comments are, oh, okay, we have all of that area to work with and their music rooms. So we divide it up pretty evenly. Well, sixty four kids, you've gotta have to have more somewhere, Oh my goodness sake. Well,
when this gets pulled together, this is going to be great. I know you're well on your way. I know that a lot of different groups kind of doing group things and what have you, and the pieces are starting to come together. This is really going to be a site for everyone. Now, what are the costs of the tickets? Do we know? I guess I'll find out what I get. I think they're about thirty dollars, but I think there's some a little bit cheaper, a little bit more expense.
Okay, you can go to bartosol cinder dot com. They'll tell you everything out for yourself. Yeah, there you go, and then you can read up on the synopsis because they always do a little paragraph they're saying, this is a bit different than maybe what you read in very tale books. They're singing and dancing and this thing. There's a little bit of a story change as well. Yeah, okay, well that's the fun part that you have to figure out. You got to watch that part. Okay, So now
everybody's all excited. Everybody's going to get the tickets. And uh, Jackson, you're you're coming in in your junior year or sophomore years. Oh yes, I'm coming. Okay, I'm the youngest one here. You are. That's why I'm picking on you a little bit. So you know, you got all these girls. But anyway, you're gonna have a lot of fun and it's gonna be great to watch each and every one of you. Some of you this will be your last performance. For you, Oh my gosh.
Kind of bittersweet. No, we won't go there. Just focus on We'll just focus on the positive. This is gonna be a lot of fun. You're gonna be a part of this history forever by being in this show, and you got to remember that. So folks, get your tickets, watch the show, keep your ticket. It's gonna be a big souvenir because all these kids gonna be fabulous stars when you get older. Oh yeah, there you go, we can do that too. I want to thank you
all for coming in and good luck. Break a leg figuratively, not really, because I don't want to be getting hurt. I don't know why the that ever came up, as is saying, do you ever explain that to you? Okay, I had. There's like a billion explanations. But apparently in the olden days, when they had wooden chairs, whenever they would applause, they would hit bang the chairs and as like applause, so they would say break a leg because you would bang the chair so hard that the legs
would break. That's one explanation. There's like a billion other, which yours which one you did you hear? Mine's not as cool as that one, but that was pretty cool. Break your leg because they want you to end up in a cast. I see what you did there. There you go. You learn something new and different every time you tune into our program at Children's Musical Theater once again July eleventh through the fourteenth at the Center. Tickets
available at the Bartlesville Center box office. It's Bartlesville Center dot com. It's two different casts for the shows, so make sure you see everybody, so get tickets through different nights. And once again, I want to thank all the actors and everybody who's making it possible, your coaches, the parents, because I know the parents are working hard to Bengo nights and everything else, working behind the scenes, sweating and fretting. Uh So, let's make this
a big community turnout. Really make this the best night we've ever had. Thank you very much for being with us today. Thank you all right, folks that you have been watching and listening to our community connection on K one, the one you try to
