It's time for our community connection today and we've got some great folks from the Civitan Club of Barnolsville today as well. The legendary Joe Sears is in studio with me as well as Shaye Tall. Good morning to both of you. Good morning morning. It's great to be here with you both.
And I want to make sure I get my audio there we go audio corrected here on our Facebook Live. And so we got a couple of really great things that are getting ready to come up here for the Civitan Club Bertelesville, speaking specifically of a paddle party. What is that? Wow, Well, the paddle party is a lot of fun. It's one of the most fun fundraisers in Bartlesville and it's held at the Elks Lodge. It's a fundraiser the Civitans put on. Usually, the Civitans do a lot of good work in
the community, that's what they're all about. But the paddle party is you buy a paddle with a number on it and you bring a roll of quarters or buy them when you get there, and every every item is a quarter bet and if the number is drawn and your paddle is drawn, you win that prize for a quarter and the merchants money gift cards. There's so much fun, so many things you can get for a quarter. And this year, this section of the fundraiser is for Wayside School and Shay can tell you
here what that's it's all about. Here, Shay is we're both board members with Cibytan. So Shaye, what is the fundraiser is for Wayside School. It's for Wayside School and it's going to their Special ad department to get playground equipment for the special ads so they can't use the same well not all of them can use the same playground equipment as all the other kids. So they're going to have their own special playground equipment that's handicap accessible. That's important too.
Absolutely, that's a great thing to be raising some money for me In Bartlesville. It's one of those kinds of cities where we have that kind of playground. You know, the Civitans built Dinosaur Park, that's the nickname for it for handicapped kids. Who would think of such a thing except for Cibytan
International, which is basically it's an international club. There's thirty thousand Civitane clubs on the planet Earth, and every one of them are dedicated to battering a community and serving the needs of the people for disability, for any any kind of needs of community. We built out here on the East Side the Senior Citizens Housing Housing Center. That's a great thing. And of course it's not assisted living, but as long as that you move out of your house into
a smaller apartment. It's all senior citizens. It's very unique. But the Civitan's fundraised for that. Wow, that's a great thing. There's so many things that takes shocally. Sure, Cibytian, you guys have been around for years and one hundred and six years in Bartlesville, one hundred and six years. Yes. Well, the International International okay I was wow, I started in nineteen seventeen. The headquarters for it is in Birmingham, Alabama. Of
all places. Who would ever think of Alabama? Uh, you know, the center of such a national international organization, But it is, and and it goes it branches out into all the countries of the world, and every Civitan club is dedicated again to helping with the community needs. If something is missing, the Civitans come in and do it, specifically the id D community. That's right, it's it's so i D D intellectually and developmentally disabled.
There you go, there you go for those who don't know what that actually mean. So, yeah, what a great organization you are. I mean Dinosaur Park that is that is an icon here. I know when it's that shade structure to do what it did. Lots of people were concerned about that, but I mean Civitan, you guys do so many great things in the community. And you got this paddle party I mean Way Science Special ad. Yes, you know. Panel party is also really fun for kids. My
girls ask every year when's the next one. They love it because they can just throw their quarters in there and try to win stuff and not rely on mom and dad's money to buy something. They go and it's only a quarter good order. I love that there are some items if it's over a fifty dollars value that they actually auction off. I see. That's great even that.
Yeah, there's large baskets of large baskets of like a Mother's Day it's the May eleventh is the Saturday before Mother's Day, and it's the perfect opportunity to come with the kids and win something for Grandma the next day. Nice present if we can with your permission, they think can. What were some of the prizes that we've Yeah, love it and there's some great prizes.
And if you're a parent at Wayside, you will want to listen up to this one because you know how chaotic the parking can be at Wayside, So you could win your own reserved parking spot now year. That's on the list York, right. So another one Vite's short stays is donating a two nights stay at their luxury cabin in Hoachatown, which is in the Broken Bow area. Yeah, that's nice. That's a nice one. Yeah, and then
that special getaway. Yes, Precision Lawn Care is doing a Christmas light display, so they'll come out to your house and measure and put the lights up and then come back out and take them down. Right now, that's really good for senior citizens who like to decorate. Busy parents, you don't have time to busy radio guys who just never get to be at home. Yeah, it's the Barbles was never born Christmas. That's when I was a kid here, we went out to the neighborhoods and nothing has changed. We still
do that. It's wonderful. Yeah, that's a good item. That is a good item. And then let's see here Honey's Flowers did a gift card. Honey's Flowers is so one, you know, I use them every year for my blanket grave cover at the cemetery out in Memorial Park. She comes across, she gets the best greenery. They used to be just you know, evergreen. Right, Honey has taken to a new level. And I always like Honey's Flowers. That's good. She's a great eyed one to have
on them. Yes. And another fun one for the kids is Oky Tent Parties has donated a four person party. So they come out and they set up these little tents for the kids, and you pick a theme that you want the tents in. So there's you know, thunder, basketball, football, Taylor Swift, princess, whatever you want. And she comes in sets these little tints up for the kids in your living room. And so that's a fun one in the living room or you know, wherever you want to
go together a little indoor it's like an air mattress. And then it has like a little indoor tent over it. Let's take a sleep over. Oh yeah for sure. Yeah, let's see what else was there. There's all kinds of baskets are being donated. You're doing a dog there's a dog. Yes. I went out to tractor Supply and I have collected all the best of the American made doggie treats. The kindness, really good for dental, the greenies, the tastes of a wild dog food, the stuff we can't
afford, but it's really good for our pets. It's a really great basket. And I put a puppy in there just to make the kids go, Mama about that one. My daughter will be bidding on them. That's a stuffed puppy basket. Is winning all those doggy trees. It's over one hundred dollars in value. You can win for a quarter. Actually, that would probably be an an auction. Yeah. Grace is donating a dinner for two
at Hillcore Country Club. I can't beat that. Yeah, it's one of the best meals I ever had in Barteleos Fields out there, and they made a Cajun Alfredo sauce. I remember eat that even knew New Orleans. It was great pex fit for Grace Farmer An another Civitan. She's a friend of mine as well, lover but death. He'll staker in the mover for she's the one that gets me involved in everything. Yeah, she's good at that, she is. She is. So PEG's Custom Butchering donated a small bundle
of meat, which is like at least a seventy dollars value prices. Meat Market donated a gift card. You know, barstool can't go wrong with our meat markets. No, they are amazing, to the very best in Northeast Oklahoma. That's great. Absolutely. Yeah. So every grade level at Wayside is donating a basket. So that's at least seven baskets that are going to be there. I have no idea what they're going to be, but I'm sure they'll be wonderful. I mean, I love how that is. Getting
the kids that Wayside involves in their own school means that's just great. You know, what a nice value to learn in elementary school. Again, Civitan promotes good citizenship in the community, and what a better way to start with young people and teaching them the value of that right. And you've donated a Walmart gift card. Fifty always do a Walmart gift card, you know Walmart shops at Walmart with that. I used to not do it, but I lived in Austin. I have so many other options. Well, there's so
many other options. But here in Martlosville. My friends said, mean, oh, we go to Barlowsville because they have the best Walmart, and oh we do great. Well I think so, it's a great Walmart. And so a fifty dollars gift card becomes a lot of fun. And that's usually not an auction item. That's a or a quarter you could get. But even a kid would love that. Like, imagine a kid going in a Walmart with a fifty dollars yeah, coming out with all tresmer my daughter.
We'd have to give her a time. Okay, you've got less than thirty minutes, just been this because we would be in there for two hours. Yes, yes, but what a fun and creative way again, letting the kids get involved in a fundraiser for their community good. Absolutely sure. And then Evans Nursery nursery one of the best, one of the oldest nurseries in town. Old family and they are just wonderful and so we've got a gift
certificate down there. Their plants are and they have gone into pottery. When mister Evans died a few years ago, the family decided to change their format and the kids have kind of taken over and they're wonderful and Vicky always a hard worker, and so Evans has become the center of you know, they have a huge for these pops full of things that you can used to not get here they carry now Bambinos. I'm going by there today to pick up
a gift certificate from Bambinos. Ryan Black and Bambinos is one of my favorite downtown restaurants. Ye great sandwiches. Oh yeah. I was there just last Wednesday for the Ruben special. That's the daily lunch specials every day. Wednesday happens to be my day because I love their there once and month for lunch and they're very economical of that. Yeah. Roots and Blooms is also doing
your donation, so I'm going by there today. I don't know what she's donating, but I'm hoping it's a flower arrangement so that hey the flowers. Here you go, Mom, here's a flower arrangement. It's nice to be the day before Mother's Day, walk in and say here, mom, we we won this for you. That's great. Why I'm telling you this paddle party again. We're talking with Joe Sears and Jay Tall with the Civitan Club of Bartlezil for their paddle party fundraiser coming up again. What's that day?
Eleven lodge? Yes? Six? Yeah. And the food. The Civitan members bring homemade food for snacks. That's what I like. I'm a good here, you and me both, Joe, these are really good snacks. And my daughter's making her bars and if you've had those, they are amazing. She might even make a pan and donate them. So, speaking of donating food, Aunt Pearl, the legendary character, the character from Tuna Texas, I used to do all these public appearances. I would do food well.
Aunt Pearl made Texas prai leans for years, and so I'm making a box full of Texas praileans to be auctioned off and they are absolutely wonderful. I've had that recipe for years. It's actually a tex mex and so it's going to be up for grabs an auction. It's a whole box full of homemade PREI leaves by Aunt Pearl. Can't go wrong without Burnellsville loves Aunt Pearl. Again. My health has called you. I can't make public appearances anymore, but I sure still bait. There you go, that's for sure.
Well, what a great event again the pallet party fundraiser for wayside special ed playground equipment to be built again maybe eleven six thirty six six thirty at the Elks Club right behind Walmart is a very comfortable place to have a fundraiser. Absolutely lot the room, parking, everything. Well, if people want to learn a little bit more about Civitan Club as well, how can they do that, Well, you can go on and google Civitan International, okay,
and it will tell you all about the Bartlesville Club. And actually Civitan Is spends a lot of time recruiting. If you're one of the people in the community who likes to do good works for other people, most people woul you know, the Good Lord says you do good works for me. Well, we're a very we're not a religious group, but we're very dedicated to the ideals of you know, doing none to others. And our Civitan group is out to recruit new members. So if You're one of those people out there
