Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome idiots. Time for our community connection one the one you trust and goodness sakes alive. It's always great to have miss Lourie in here. And how you doing today? Fantastic? Well I'm doing just wonderful, Thank you very much. And yeah, you brought in some treats, because Dewey, the city of Dewey is one big treat It is is amazing right there on seventy five.
Everything you need you just take a cruise. Yeah, take a left on Don Tyler down to the antique shops and harps and food and gas stations, everything you need. Well, you brought me some great coffee in here today from reading black Ivory brew House. Here we go. I didn't have my spectacle and I got my shake from the Bulldog and nutrition. Of course it's the turtle amazing. I've got everybody in front, they're going to get one at lunch. So maybe I should have thought you trust me, and
then I understand We've got something really big that happens in Dewey. That's going to be what every second Saturday, second Saturday, each month, each month? Was it Dewey? It's cool thing. Yeah, it as I brought it just so everybody can recognize it when you see it. There are some businesses that are participating, but I'm sure as each Saturday goes along, it's going to get even bigger. Good because the first one that they had just
last weekend amazing, amazing, mister west Christopher that helps with it. But you know this is being put on by Downtown Dewey of course, but the person that helps out said it was just an amazing turnout for the first one that they put together. So it's just going to keep growing, especially the next one they're going to have. They're bringing the inside out. I like the way you phrased that he's talking about performers and when he said performers,
I'm just thinking music, fire eaters, fire eaters. I'm not so sure about clowns, but definitely, you know, definitely sword swallowers. I don't know, I don't know, but that'll be amazing. That'll be interesting to see what he sees that will be bringing more in, you know, interesting things down to downtown to bring it to the antique shops than any of the shops and the food. Wow, this is really cool. Now, who all participates in this. So far, we have black Hawk Vintage, Campbell's
Antiques, Christopher and Weston. We have Creative Health Pharmacy of Dewey. That's a pharmacy which is great to have in our small town. We have the Hippie Farmhouse Designs Boutique, Linger Longer Antiques and Soda Shop, Mini's Antique Market, Scissortail Brewing Company, They're awesome. We have the Vault, which is also part of Christopher and Weston their next door, and we have the Vintage
Loft, two tall oakies and stuff the great Travis Miller. And then we have VG Marketplace and that's vern and all of this great stuff that he finds for all of us. My goodness sinks, this is going to be a big deal. It's a big deal, especially if you're going to bring it out. We're going to talk about bringing vendors out onto the streets, closing down the block, you know, because there's more to downtown than just down you know that one street. You know, it spreads out, So what
we're trying to do is just bring everybody down straight to that spot. So this is going to be kind of like an outdoor mall because there won't be any cars run you over. You can go at your leisure across the street. You don't have to worry about anything. He might even have some vendors or entertainment in the street for that matter. Correct, definitely entertainment out in the streets. He is super focused on that. That is that. I
wait to see what he's going to find. No kidding, because he's keeping it. He's keeping it kind of a little on the download for now. Well, you know, the thing is, we got it three weeks to go. Three weeks and we can do this every four weeks. Of course, exactly second Saturday and it'll be to the next one second second Saturday will
be here April thirteenth. It's just gonna bigger each time. It's going to get bigger that more more of the businesses will get involved, and they'll see that, you know, because we're trying to bring you know, like I said, it's some more about just downtown. It's all about doing it is any of the town that has so much to offer. You got a lot of people who live, eat, sleep, play, and send their kids to school there. You might as well have them shop there on occasion too.
Exactly. I mean we've got two dollar generals. You can head north or south of the town. You got everything in between. You've got harps for groceries, and again the dollar generals. For food, you have simple Simon Soboras, I know, a lot of burger and then of course you go to the dog nutrition take and you take a day off on all that stuff. And then of course we got Sunrise Donuts. Tom how do we forget you got some donut hosts. But there's just it's just it's good to
go up and down seventy five. You see a lot more of our businesses than just focusing on downtown. Well good, they get to take in the whole, the whole deal, you know. So this is really a fascinating proposition. I can't wait till he gets here on that becond Saturday, the thirteenth of April, until you go visit myself. You better. Maybe we can have a booth and we'll have our almost just talk about everybody walking by and give out some kW N swag with some dewey swag that we're working on.
We'll have some things that we'll be able to give out at events or just to peque everybody's interest. Kind of known as a as a sticker fanatic. Ye, mister Trees has me working on that, so we have definitely get some good swag going on. I'll bring you all the Dewey. Well, this has got to be very very very very good. And now the town of Dewey. I was just zipping through there yesterday, not zipping because I obeyed the posted speed limits. I can't say that about my birth.
The police I do work, Oh I know that. But the thing is, you know they catch them all. They're on you. You know you can't go through downtown. Do we get forty five miles we have, you got churches, you got businesses. You're going to zoom somebody over. Don't do that correct? Lights are flashing. Slow down yeah, okay, you
see people slow down for that matter too. But anyway, it is such a neat mix of old and new because we have the historic with the Dewey Hotel at the top, mixed museum, and of course you know we've got a few antique cars hanging around there too. And speaking of that, you know the car shows in May. That's going to be here, that is right, that's gonna be here quicker than we know it. I better make
plans through that, and what's coming up for the Saint Patrick's Day. We do have Scissor Tail has something going on on Saturday, we do, which is at noon, and so go on to their Facebook and the website and see they have all kinds of things that's going to be happening for Saint Patrick's Day. Nice, especially their own bruise. That's always makes a Saint Patrick's Day better, doesn't it. I'm gonna have green beer, I would time. I might have to investigate, but I do know that. And then
and of course the Black Ivory brew House. They have some great March you know, specials going on, some great flavors. Oh my gosh. Their menu is crazy fun. So it's definitely somewhere to stop into. They also have ice cream at a coffee shop. You know what, That's my two favorite food groups, coffee and ice cream. I'm going to go with the I can live there now. I can just live there at Black I That's why I never worked at an ice cream shop. I just stayed away in
the profits. My goodness sakes. Wow. Other things that it's going on. We have a new bus yard going and people are asking about what's going on behind the school. There's a new bus yard going on, and so that'll be more beneficial because yeah, correct, and you know, just do
he's growing. You got the boys and girls and girls club is right there, and then you got to move the parking situation to maybe it's going to be a probably a lot easier for folks to get around once that's take once it everything gets figured out, for sure, it'll be easier for the games and stuff. But it is such an asset to have that boys and Girls club in Dewey, I mean Dewey, Yes we can. I better you're
killing you're killing me. I better better coin that, Yes you better, you bet get a service mark on that right now, deey, yes we can. I will alright. So anyway, with summertime coming and the warmer weather, uh, these second Saturdays are going to be awesome. On top of that, you've got, like you said, the car show coming up.
Before you know, we'll start rolling around for Heritage Days, and don't forget forth of July stuck in their halfway in the in between all of that, and but we do have fireworks, fireworks, so the DCA still will be putting on fireworks, not too sure about. We're doing something different for the duck races this year. Water supply shortage, you know, kind of puts a damper on some some some the fun stuff. But there will be
something exciting still happening for Fourth of July. That's good because I was out there last year or to do the radio broadcast and there were no ducks and that ditch was dry. Yeah, there were some beyond balls and stuff being thrown around, that's for sure, no kidd and they had bean bag going on and everything else, and it was a lot of fun though. Even the singing sheriff went out there with his band and played so that they were good. I did get it. I did capture a little bit of that,
that's true. I didn't I didn't throw a glowing nerve ball at them, but I did have The kids were enjoyed throwing it back and forth across that Oh golly, Yeah, I am a kid that heart you will always be, that is for sure. He never ceased to amaze me. For sure music doesn't either, Tom, Your music doesn't cease to amaze the salt either. Oh yeah, thank you very much. Compliment for a compliment. But the downtown Dewey is where it's happening, but all around Dewey is where
it's really happening. And they said, what we're trying to say with these second Saturdays. Yes, definitely, and then once you get into the second Saturdays, that's when you'll be able to venture out and say, oh, look at that, there's a I didn't know that was there. Oh that's a museum. Go on in you know, the the Dewey Hotel is one
of the coolest places. I mean, the history. We do have the grandson of Tom Mix who's super interested in buying some land and also bringing his own presence to Dewey and to offering you know, what can he do to to to bring everybody you know in and get excited about these events. Heritage Day which is then it would be the next after fourth of July would be
the next big event that we have. And then of course you didn't have Thanksgiving and then Christmas and lighting up trees and eating things and cooking stuff and all that stuff. Correct, So we get a little busier towards the end of the year, but there's still phenomenal fun stuff to do throughout the How are we doing on the parks now? The parks. We my the parks. We're working on the Facebook right now more and also a website, and so once we get that website going, they'll be easier, uh way to
get to ordering a brick or even seeing the progress of the park. But right now we are working on that, and they're still doing some construction on that. It's the lovely weather kind of puts a damper in some things. You know, we're still waiting for that darn concrete to dry. I've ben't you know. I've been trying to do a fun video walking on sunshine or something on that on that concrete, but it's it's a it's construction. The fickle world. I'll stick to teeth and and cities and radio. I guess
saving food and food well. Anyway, doing is a great place to visit, whether or not we've got a festival or a parade or a special event going on. Any old day that ends and why is a very good day? We're doing? Day? Sounds good? Did I miss anything? We
did? We get everything? I feel like we got the second Saturday that was one of the main out We've got just many businesses that do have some sales going on for the month of March, you know, focusing on because Easter and St. Patrick's Day is in the same month, But really we're just ready to see how much we can broaden this second Saturday, all right month, so April thirteenth is the next one, and get ready to just
have your mind blown of what we can turn that downtown into. That sounds great, Hey, thanks for being with us, Lorie, thank you, Tom, thanks for listening between one on one. You're profession that paid presentation in the fourteen Hubert Kaye one
