All right, I finally found the right gear. It is now nine to forty six and it's time now for our community connection. And we have Laurie in here with us from Dewey. And you've got an interesting shirt on. I have my Tom Mix on. There go movie star Tom Mixed. We got the big old to do up there and doing. That's right. If we have the museum, the Tom Makes Museum. Yes, indeed, we also have the well where Tony the Horse wants drink from it. It is
still there right in kind of the Dewey Hotel. Go figure, come on into doing and you'll see all kinds of stuff like that. Oh yeah, you'll be playing and doing next right, I hope. So there we go. That was a really great concert. Awesome to see you up there on the stage. Oh thank you, thank you. Really fun. If the city of Dewey will have me, I shall be had. It sounds good to me. So maybe on the second Saturday of next month. Because it
was a great turnout this time, that's what I heard. You guys had a wonderful crowd. Everybody who's on the street fun selling hot dogs. We had fourteen vendors first off, that was amazing. Wow, all collected on that small block. We also had the hot dog sales from the Friends of Dewey Parks, which I am part of, and that was fun. That was amazing. It was a little hot outside, so that made the hot dogs stay nice and nice hot. But we did really well and it was
really fun and exciting to be in the mix of that. No pun intended, gotcha. Then coming up this Saturday though, we have Travis Miller, the two tall Oakies. He has his swamp meat. There's not a time. I don't know. I mean, I think all the guys that hang out and do that, they know the time. Start early, get out early. That is this June fifteenth, and then the next one will show up. We'll be coming in November. Oh wow. Hopefully beat the heat
on that one for Travis. Then we have coming up is the big fourth of July. We have the fireworks coming That is on a Thursday, I believe. Please don't quote me on that. But you still have time to where you can buy a duck for the duck races. It's back. It's on. Well, it was always gone, but we just didn't know about the water. And now that we've had so much water, that you can go in and you can buy to go to city hall. Kind of a
black and white people. But it's my cheat sheet because you can buy one duck for five bucks, five ducks for twenty bucks, ten ducks for thirty bucks. That's a lot of ducks for just a few bucks. Quack quack, right, But you go to the city hall and speak with the ladies up front and they will take care of that for you. I mean, made the best man bus duck win because it'll be really interesting to be the
first one that I will get to see. Even in the two years I've been working here, just with the water sort of, we didn't get to do it. And don't worry about bugging the ladies. You won't make them go quackers. No, please, do they want you to bug them so they can build up for the fireworks. Or you can also buy a fan if you want to make a donation. Excuse me, not buy the fan, but donate and your name will be on the fan. Their goal is
to raise seven thousand dollars for the fireworks. We also have live music at night and then during the fireworks, and the small sales for probably light up toys throughout the night. But what you can do for donations of one hundred dollars or more, you can get on the super fan side that you want, and you know, maybe a little bit less for a donation, you can still get on the other side of the fan. So pretty cool to see your name on that for donations. So that's for the month of July.
We have next week we take of that fireworks where we hold them. Oh yes, don Tyler Park courts. Of course, I want to make sure that's right. Was last year correct and every year before that? Probably forgive me, you know me and my nerves and my awkwardness. You don't have any awkward go ahead. Well, the other cool things that we broke around and started the bathrooms for the new park, the Lines park in downtown. Are you people buying bricks and this is where it's starting to pay off.
And hot dogs because we will be doing selling hot dogs at some of the main you know, the events that we can so that will be really fun too. Help us get that part going, the best part right now. I want to toot my own horn. I get to help at the library for a summer reading program. When we miss Jordan the librarian. It's three days a week and it spent four weeks long. Last week we studied Egypt or went to excuse me, we visited Egypt. This week we're visiting
Italian or Italy. We've had Italian pizzas made out of sugar cookie icing and M andF. And we also did projects of like leaning Tower Pisa, and it's just a bunch of facts learning during the time they have with the kids. It's so fun. But next week they're going to South America, and the last week we're wrapping up of course in here, good old USA. It'll be a fun one and I'll keep posting things on Facebook so everybody can
the world from the city of doing Bye Goodness. Other than that, it's pretty much all I have, besides the other things that are amazing coming to Doy that I can't speak of. Oh you do this every time, then we have to keep going back in next month and you know, shake it out again. No problem, We can definitely do that now. These second Saturday, yes, sir, these they have been growing. The first one that folks were like, it's kind of cool, it's kind of nice.
Second was like a few more people around here. Third was like, oh wow, it's here this one. The word got out for sure, and then hopefully it just keeps expanding. That's the way we want to do it, and hopefully get some lives, live music, and it'll be a little warm, you know, for for July and for August, but it's going through September, so it'll be really fun to see how how big we get in my birthday month. There you go, a block party for my birthday.
There you go. But these get together is that we have on the second Saturday. People will ask what but what do I do? How do I do this? What do you show up? That's really about how much you show come into doing and start really do a little walking around. You'll acclimate. You'll take to it like a duck to the water gun Tyler Park. Oh boy, that was that was a Stretch'll get your ducks in a row in order to come down. Of course, if you if you're so
inclined to come back on fourth of July. You know what City Hall is right there, right there in the hard downtown and it's all of Dewey. Everybody's having sales. You know, we just we just have you know, the collective right there for us to be able to house. You know all the vendors, but it's all of Dewey has sales every you know, everywhere in town. And you know what, it's an easy walk. You park
your car, you take a stroll. It kind of throws you back to maybe a few decades ago, a little bit of Mayberry, just a little bit of you don't need to watch and you don't need to be looking at
your cell phone. You'll actually be engaging with people and usually somebody you know, definitely, likely somebody haven't seen in a while, definitely, And it's just a great place to get together and you do a little commerce and do a whole lot of visiting and shopping and shopping, eating and then hanging out in the park. You got to do that. You got to wrestle it. And the park is beautiful and you can do your park by getting a break. Don Tyler is all still ready to go. We're just working on
the one that's downtown. But we have started those bathrooms, so that'll be a huge thing too. Yeah, once those get finished, you know, more convenience, No, Laurie, you have a website for the parks and the folks have been visiting it. Good. We did that's right. It is up and going, so you'll see all any any new business that'll be on there. Oh this is something else, you know. Every time we come in here, you always kind of lighted up and you tell us a
little bit of something about Doey that we just didn't know. And for folks who are new to the area, and believe me, we have folks moving in all the time. Yes, they're coming in from places like New York, and a lot of them from California, a few from Colorado, but many of them are Californians. True, they're kind of getting used to the fact that, yes, we have movie stars in our area. Tom Mix
of course, King of the Cowboys he was. And we've got the museum there, and I kind of want to brag on that for and that will and on second Saturdays that they will definitely be open, the hotel and the museum and pretty much everyone will definitely focus on open and ready for everybody. That I grew up in the Tom Mis Museum. I mean, I Cali raised, but I got an Oklahoma brain. I'm half oaky, but my sisters and I spent the summers right there in downtown Dewey, and we were
welcomed into the Tom Makes Museum to watch the movie. They have a small little movie in their theater, you do, and we would memorize it and see who can remember it the next year, and we lived in that park and then linger longer. The antiques. It was just visiting yesterday and it's my mom, who's from California. Las Vegas, absolutely loves that that shop and it was exactly the shape was divine. I got the magnificent Max yesterday
who made my shape. But it's just it's I grew up in the middle of Dewey, so I loved living there and supporting it now because I think I was meant to. Indeed, indeed, when you go to the mixed theater, a lot of folks will say, well, look it's kind of small, wait till you get in. It's it's like one of those opticals that it is because all of a sudden, he goes on and on and on forever, and then you turn around. You got to come back, come back, come back, forever. But everything is just so cool to
see. There's a lot of history mixed in with it. Of course the show is, but you also get a snapshot in just virtually every display of what was going on at in America at that time. So it's really an education. Even though Ben's not from our town, we got Ben Johnson too that you know, he's part of that. You see some of that in there, and it's pretty cool to have that piece of nostalgia and that history and that you know, right here in our little town. And I wish
that everybody will definitely love it as much as I do. And we model history for me there. And when you're walking around shopping and stuff like that, stop by the Dewey Hotel team does he still have a little stars? Yeah they can. I'll ask mister Sears about that. Hey, those guys can tell you a story and give me some history. Yeah, start around the hotel, walking around. Then you go to the tom Mix, which
is a little bit smaller. I'm a more homie. But then you can sit in the theater in a nice cool theater, take a break, and then head back out, go shopping, get something to eat to say, you know us, we had a good time, and Doey, we're coming back, I hope, so I'll be waiting. That's the formula for success, right there, you folks. Something to do something to eat, and the reason to come back and a cool place to sit for cool place to
sit in great parks absolutely brooms. All right, well, I want to thank you for coming in as always, and of course do it right straight up the road. One twenty three and a little bit if you want to go on. Seventy five runs right through town there too. What is that osage that it winds up at being if you take a seventy five into town. We're still Washington, yeah, little little towards the west. All right, right now, we've got the news coming up in just a moment.
Stay tuned. We're going to have a check of your weather as well. All right here on K one, the one you try. Thanks for listening to one
