And good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome. It is time now for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust, and it is also what we call our city matters. We're having a little issue here with our bandwidth here, so please bear with us if you're trying to watch us on the computer. I guess maybe I didn't know that the cold weather, Trevor doors, he could slow down ones and zeros, but I guess it gets more than just your water
in your heat. How you doing, I'm doing pretty good other than it being a little bit cold, just a little bit on the cold side. Huh. Yeah. I get a little worn out of the breaking ice for animals, but there's a lot of people doing that right now. And as you said, there's a lot of people that are having water difficulties because this cold weather is not cooperating with able to get watered areas because your pipes maybe a little bit frozen, just a little bit a little bit. But everything's
looking kind of pretty cool here as far as uh. We got some hope, I guess. And one thing that's good is that we're getting some water. Yes, sir, we are out of the ban again. We got a little bit of water. I don't know that this snow is really going to help that, but it looks like next week. Uh, you know, based based on the forecast, you got like a fifty sixty chance about every day of some rain. So yeah, we depending on where that rain
is. And I think we've had that discussion a couple of times. You get up around the Cedar Vale basin and the Sedan basin, that's when that water is going to go to the Hula and Hula Lake and the Copan So uh, I don't know where that rains supposed to be coming in at, but hopefully that's that's kind of the area and maybe they'll just add to what we've already got and be successful in dodging another slow down of the water. That was that was that was a tough one. We were in, we
were out, we were in, we were out. You know, we were partly in a drought, partly not. And let's let's do this. And I know there are what are resources people are meeting tomorrow. They got their work cut out for them, they do. And I'm I'm grateful that those guys are meeting again because I know that they're working for solutions. Long term, we we do have water, and we we've been lucky, good Lord's blessed us. But obviously this past summer we had a had a bit
of a scare. Oh golly, we did. And so long term, you know, we've had that discussion to you and I about what what what is that? What do we do long term? I don't know. I know that those guys are working diligently figured that out. Got about half a dozen options you're looking at tomorrow. Yeah, and I know some communities I believe in and piped there's piping water in from maybe Collake and so. But
that was considerably expensive. I don't remember the exact number on that price tag, but it was, you know, a millions million dollars billions or whatever. So it's uh, and that's it's a lot of money. And we were already you know, in the midst of what we're going to have to do a new water plan. So there's a lot of things going there where there's some expenses coming into play, and and we're trying to avoid increasing taxes
for any of the citizens. But you know, things cost money. Unfortunately, they do, especially life giving water, and they cost more money than they did the year before, and they cost more money than the year you know, just go up, cost escalates, and so you know, I know that that group is working diligently, and I think that they'll have a lot of really good options for everybody considering us to think through and figure out
how we long term solve that that water issuing problem of courage. Whoever Dorsey here with this and yeah, he's a city councilor here and borows at my city counter. I haven't called him or rung him up. And you think of I seem all the time you're all over town. Uh, But Trevor, we've got a thing called what the strategic plan or comprehensive plan? Is
comprehensive plan or did the strategy? Now we're doing the comprehensive Yes, sir, Now we're doing the comprehensive plan, and that it is taking place some meetings at least tomorrow and Thursday. And you know, the community is going to be involved in that. We've I think there's several citizens in the community
we've kind of pulled in to be involved. And then there will be some town hall type stuff which all of our citizenry will have an opportunity to come and give thoughts, input, insight into what they what they think and feel. And so I really think this is this is good for good for Barsville. Get our buddy engage and so that'll be going on here for a while. Well, you know that that public input thing, about the time you think you have your town figured out, go to a public input Me like
an oh, well maybe not so much. Yeah, because you're gonna hear a lot of ideas maybe you never even dreamed of thinking up. Well, you get some good ones and we get some get some interesting ones, but mostly they're very good, very well thought out. Yeah, you're right. I think it's always a good opportunity when we can get our citizens involved and get feedback. And so I think this will be very paramount to what the city does going forward. And just like the water water board and so a
lot of good opportunies, a lot of good things going on. Even though it's colder and geeweiz. Right now, I would invite the global warming right now, I think a lot of people would. Maybe early summer, we'll come. We went through this about two years ago. I believe you and I were talking before the before we went on air, and so I think it was colder then it was. I know that the ice was a lot thicker when I was having to break it on the pond, even with my
burn Borough than it is right now. So I'm thankful that it's not quite that cold. Also thinking that, thankful that I don't have any cows that I think are fixing the cave right now. That would just complicated things, wouldn't it. I had two last time, and it was like negative three and I was talking to these two cowsm as so they don't understand you, and so they may not, but I'm to him. They waited until they got to be positive two degrees to have calves, so they were bobtail calves,
but they made it. They made it. Gosh, my gosh. You know, this is an interesting time. You know, we're coming back. Everybody's trying to remember how to function after the holidays. People are at work kind of getting their bearing straight. Government at the same time has to do that too. But government really never sleeps. I mean, we've had our trash people, our police and fire those folks have been out in this
stuff. And by the way, Keith Henry had his work cut out for him it looks like he's going to have a little interesting time this weekend too, with the streets. Yeah, I think Friday night and through Sunday. I believe it's mind Craig that could get a little testy and entertaining on some sleep. And you know, there may be some slick roads in some spots this morning, but you know, they've done a really good job at getting out and in the sand and whatever they're putting on the You do have clear,
clear driveways, roadways to drive down. I know some of the side streets are still, but that's that's part of it. You can't get them all. You can't get those all. They trayed to get what they call
the feeders and the main arterials. And one thing that I like about what they've done with Frank Phillips is that they made the outside lanes they bladed those, but they kept the inside lanes a little bit, you know where they were, And I guess that kind of keeps folks from entertaining the idea of passing and speeding and kissing somebody right between the headlights oncoming traffic when you don't
know really how to drive in this you're you're correct. I was watching a newscast last night where they were talking about all the res in southern Arkansas and Louisiana, and I was like, oh, yeah, these you know are people, don't they're not used to driving like we were talking about up north. If you live up north, you're used to dealing with this kind of weather all the time and driving in this this type of environment that you know,
we we only get it. Sometimes someone is we don't even get this much snow. True, I believe again it was two years ago when we had something like this. Last year we might have had a little snow or two here and there, but it wasn't. We've been pretty lucky, uh, dodging that bullet. And so now we were getting to we're getting to handle it and deal with it a little bit. Yeah, you want to,
you want to be entertained. Watch people drive in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex with an interre less of snow by one winter we were we lived farther south in Oklahoma and we were going back. It was around Christmas time and the weather was starting to snow, and so we're heading north and usually took Highway forty eight, which comes out I think around Bristow and then you're going
in Tulsa. Well, he was trying to beat the weather and luckily we just got to Bristow before it made it kind of there, but then it kind of caught up with us. And it was amazing the number of people that were still driving down forty four or seventy miles an hour like there was nothing going on. And then you know, I'm going about fifty and people are blown by me. And then you get a little ways up there out and they're in the ditch. And I was like, well, that's you
need to slow down. But when you're when you're in a place like you said, Dallas, and you know, you tell me you remove you take little Rock and south of there and you get into Louisiana. I'm sure they this is not something that they see all the time. And so they got one truck for the whole county. You got one truck, take care of it. But we do a pretty good job, I think for what we
do. I had other folks who came from the face of Bartlefield draws people in from all the United States, a factor from all over the world, and one of the fellows from New York State and he says, well, why don't they have a you know all this is story, I said, because some winners you don't get any I said, you know, so why why you invest, you know, so heavily in that for maybe? And that's kind of where we are in this part of Oklahoma all the way around.
So yeah, and I you know Kansas, I'm I travel a lot in Kansas for work. And yeah, they do a really good job, but they get a lot more snow than we do. Like you said, there's not probably really the reasoning to invest all the money that you would have to and all that equipment. If you're not seeing this with regularity, yes, we don't, thankfully, knock one don't see it now. We got
some other things going on with the city as the new year begins. I understand we've got some openings on the some of the boards and committees and stuff like that. This is a great way to kind of get a peek behind the curtain on how how community works, isn't it It is? We talked about this lot. We got through some kind of cycles there for a while. We seemed like every time I was on we had a lot of openings that we were talking about in different committees, and then those kind of filled
up and for a while we went along. But as time goes on, obviously on those committees, people serve their terms and they roll off, and then it's good to get new blood and other people with opportunities to serve. I know, on the Golf committee, it seems like we've got three or four openings that are coming here, you know, because the people rolling off and getting new people on. And I know there's other committees. I can't think right off the top of my head. If we go to the website,
they've got them. All is to oh, yes, sir, yeah, you could always go to the website and check it out, or call mis Slaine Bins, who she knows everything, yes, and she can get you a she can she can direct you to get the you know what you need to do to apply for that committee, and then of course it will
go out to one of the council members. I know, if it's a committee that I serve on, typically those come to me need a review, and if it's the mayor or the vice mayor or mister Roselle or you know, are miss thrown, then those committees they serve on they're going to get to look at those and say, hey, these are and maybe talk with those individuals. And we always appreciate everybody that's willing to serve and wants to serve, and like you said, it's a really good opportunity to get involved,
to learn. And a lot of times I have people in the community, well what what can I do? And I'm like, well, here's what you here's what you do, here's how you do that. And I strongly encourage people if if you have a you know, you have a real love for let's say the parks. You know, sure a lot of people do, the library, There's going to be opportunity there, the history museum, and who wouldn't the golf committee. I mean, there's excuse me,
bless you. They come in spurts. But I think that anything that a person kind of has a passion for, there's going to be an opportunity for you to serve. Now it's that opportunity right now today, maybe not that. If you keep following along, then in that opportunity, we will be there and you could always submit your application and so that way, whenever that opportunity does become open and available, then you're you're right there in the wing
ready to go. If anybody wants to do anything about the city, all we have to do is go to the website and that's the City of Bartlesville dot A work and that has your picture and your phone number in there in case folks want to know what's going on in the in your your district and your council. It does and they do a good job reaching out and we try to be as proactive as we can and getting back and getting solutions.
Had to recently a gentleman reach out about water pressure and thought it maybe had to do with the when we had the drought, when we had the restrictions, but it turned out it didn't, so we weren't helping getting that resolved. And so lady Mason, you'll fix it. Yefer different issue, but you know, don't know unless you call and we can we can try to get work through that. So I'm always uh, just a phone call or an email away. Like you said, it's on the website, so reach
out if you need anything. And we look forward to a little warmer weather here soon. Hey Trevor, thank you for being great being here. All right, take care. We bet that is our city Matters on k one
