Good pointing, good money, good money, and welcome, Welcome, Welcome, and it's time now for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust, and our broadcast today is being brought to you by Tall Grass Votors at Arnold Moore Kneecamp Funeral Home. We're gonna be talking about the Fennel Forum. We have our Chief of Police and also we have a Captain Elkins here with you. How are we doing there, Guys doing great this morning, thumb Thanks for having us, the Chief, it's good to
have you back. And Dan, I guess this might be the first time we've had yet. Yeah, first time on the radio in this room. All right, well, Chief, tell us a little bit about this program coming up on the twenty on the twenty fifth, twenty fifth the Moto Community Center or the Center, and I guess that's what it's filled now. Yeah, it kind of changed it up on us. It's a Fennel form. We we hosted one last year and it was it was a hit in the sense that we had a lot of people show up for it and has a
really good panel and had a lot of participation from the audience. So obviously it's a high topic continuing continuing today. It's a hot topic and we just want to keep addressing that issue until it's no longer an issue, which maybe never, but we want to try to stay in front of it and keep
communicating about it. Gentlemen, one of the things I'm picking up on from what I hear on the street and what I hear from people who are into helping fields is that the people who are dealing with this and the folks who are taking this just think it's another way to get high, and they're really not seeing any danger, despite the fact that they wind up going to funerals with their friends who overdosed on this. You know, it's it's kind of
a phenomenon. You know, it's as deadly as it is, there's still those that just have to try it. And seems like if somebody has produced a drug that is more potent than those guys want to try that and they just kind of put the risk behind them. And you know, Narkian is something that that was created to counter that counter a lot of opioids, and uh, you'd be amazed how many people we've used narcn on in the last
couple of years, just bringing them back multiple times. It's it's it's amazing and scary to me that people just for lack of better words, they die and then they come back I mean from the from the uh several times. This is something that you guys see on the street all the time. I mean, oh yeah, I mean I many calls for service do you get for a person down? They're down because of panel? Yeah, I mean
we see it weekly. I mean I can literally think of house as U plus or minus a few blocks from just where we sit right now, that that we've been to multiple times. And uh, I've literally, uh, you know, walked up to individuals that are lifeless, I mean they're pell you know, and then within a matter of just seconds after a ministering, this nark in you know, there skin you know, brings back a now actual flesh tone, and they're coming to and and uh, you know,
able to make heads of in tales of of their situation. So the nark cannon itself is pretty amazing on what it's able to do for us, but also maybe ushers in just kind of a new way of of of life, you know, a little kind of false security. I was gonna say, everybody thinks they got a safety net if they got that on him exactly. And so I mean it's a good thing that that we have that as another way to help come about it and hopefully bring these people out you know,
their clutches, you know of addiction. But and these are things we're going to talk about, you know, August twenty five, six pm there at the community center, or the center's chief pointed out. So yeah, it's just really an A to Z approach on how first responders, not just law enforcement, but also ems personnel, fire personnel, the er and other uh just again first responders you know meet you know that this finnel day to day.
Wow, this is amazing now, Chief Eichelberry. The thing I understand is this stuff is really small and it doesn't take a whole lot to upset your life balance. Back, I understand one of our officers was simply processing evidence and he had to be hospitalized over this. Yes, we had we had officer Zach Moorey's no longer with us, he works for a wall speeding now, but great young man he was. They had done a traffic stop and they'd pull some drugs out of the cars vehicle, taking the suspect to
the county jail and he was packaging up evidence and processing evidence. We have video of that and it's been posted before, but it just overcomes him while he's in the process of packing evidence, and Uh, if it hadn't been in the squadroom and had been other officers around him, I don't know what
would have happened with him that day. But they were able to to render aid to him quickly, give him nark in, and then once ems arrived, they began a narc and drip on him and they rushed him to the hospital and he continued on narc and rip for for quite a while before it was out of the system. So very scary time at the time, and very eye opening for all the officers that were present or have seen it since it. It has changed the way we do business when it comes to drugs.
We were a lot more cautious and we have some more protective measures employees so that this doesn't happen again. Where did it dick into this thing come from? Is it something we don't even make it here in any ways, do we? Well, that's a that's a that's a good quote. We do. So there's several different forms of that I mean you have actually medical grade fitting all that you know, used for high kind of pain manage him
management. So I would probably ultimately say that's kind of where it's introduction was. But I mean, you see fitting all used in the automotive industry to like softened leathers for like leather rapps, steering and things that. You know, it's a very very very concentrated forms of this that you know is never intended for human consumption. And you know, so that's coming out to the streets and being kind of processed down to help you know, take you know,
the drugs to kind of the next level. You know, it's kind of I would I would kind of say it's not something that people like just step into just right away, but it just kind of, you know, they start maybe, you know, let's use the term like on the gateway drugs one sort at one level, and then they just kind of keep using, keep using kind of looking for something different, looking for something different, and then over the days to the weeks to the years, you kind of
end up in a dark hole someplace. Oh boy, this is good. I undtend that some are mixing some kind of horse tranquilizer with this business that even makes it more dangerous. Yeah, we definitely don't want to educate the public and thinks, you know, I'm just hearing things from people. You have to do it every day. Yeah, but there's definitely a coction out there for you know, you know, different folks, different strokes. You
know. Well, you know, I had an agent tell me one time that the you know, it's the euphoria that comes from say gateway drugs, such as some people call marijuana gateway drug. I would tend to agree with that. Uh. Once they have that initial high, then they're searching for that high again, and sometimes the brain just didn't come all the way down,
and so reaching that high takes a stronger drug. And so they go first try to find something that gives them that initial high that they received early on, and they just keep reaching, keep reaching for something that'll get them to where they they have the euphoria and uh, and they never really really find it. They find it, find a drug that gives them something better, but far as the high, but as as the stronger you get,
the worse it is on the brain and the body. And you see that through time, left photos of different people that over the years and over the months. Actually, I mean, I've seen people deteriorate pretty quickly. It's really sad to watch. We're going to have more in just a moment. Books as we talk about the funeral form coming up here in just a matter of days in the downtown Bartlesville the centers. We speak with Chief Michaelberry and
Captain Elkins from the Bartlesville Police Department. After these works on K one, pre needs are completely transferable in the United States from funeral home to funeral home, and in Oklahoma that's a specially true without any penalty at all. For instance, if you decide you're going to retire and move to another state, and you find a funeral home that you're comfortable with elsewhere, you can take that already set up pre need that you have at funeral Home A and transfer
to funeral Homebow and there's no problem doing that. Ten Howel Arnold Moore and DeCamp funeral home. Sixty or seventy years ago, Bob Farmer died. Joe business owner room Joe business owner hunal sign that said close for the funeral of Bob Farmer back at three pm, hung it on his door, closed his door. No one would steal that sign. He would go to the funeral, as with many of Bob's friends. Now, if you're a grand son, you have to have proof that Grandpa died so you can get paid for
that day of leave. Our sort of a hundred times death is an inconvenience to twenty first century America. But it's not at Arnold Moore and Ncamp funeral. It'll be all right. We'll walk through list together. Arnid Moore and Ncamp Punor Hall seven ten Dewey, Bartelsville Life. We will walk through this together. Is it time to start thinking about a new carent? But the thought of dealing with the large dealerships is just too intimidating, too confusing.
There is an easier way ton Grass Motors. Tall Grass Motors doesn't play all the confusing glaves a large dealerships play. Tall Grass Motors has continually been vot Bartlesville's best used car deal year after year. Good Bye tall Grass Motors today and enjoyed looking at over sixty used cars, trucks and SUVs, all priced
to save you money. Tall Grass Motors Highway seventy five North in Bartlesville, and welcome back to our community Connection program we're talking with Bartlesville Leaf Chief Kevin Eichelberry and also Captain day Neil Elkins here and we've got the big entinyl form coming up here. Yes, sir, August twenty five at six pm far
as we Community Center. No, I understand you're gonna take questions from the audience, but you'd brother and they will, but it'd be a lot of usier folks will get their questions and ahead of time, right Captain, Yes, yeah, So essentially we're trying to, you know, provide structure to this form so it's not just complete chaos. We actually created an email address as a general email address that we're going to continue for use for any questions.
Any citizen has a art and police and it's just a Q and a at city or excuse me, it's BPD Q and a at city at Bardsville dot org. And any citizen can submit any question right now. We're on this centinel form. But at any point, whatever it is a marking dog, a trash can left out on the road too long, or fireworks complaint, you can you can submit questions to that and we'll try to fill those. Okay, So we've gone a brand new thing. It's been around a
little bit, so we can use that right. Well that the email address is new, okay, but we're we're also looking to use it for other things. Very good, very good. I like that. And of course when we get the questions and it's gonna be easier to get them out to the different professionals. And I remember we hadn't maybe close to a dozen people on the DIOSA last time. Yes, yep, we're well on the dah
Will Drake, yep, Will Drake, he'll be there. We'll have members from obian A d A. I believe, we have a local agency CTI that does a lot of kind of drug analysis and services for a lot of local people here. They'll be on the panel as well. So you know, we'll have the Barslo Police Department's own community impact team. It's kind of two individuals that we kind of task primarily we're not with narcotics, but you know they work on other kind of community issues as well. So again there
will be a whole gamut of just multi multidisciplinary. Well, I have the Barslow Ambulance on there. Chris Wells, I believe so he in my opening
stories last time. Yeah, so again it's just an a e Z approach on how all first responders, you know, is dealing within all on a day to day basis in Chafe. I understand that sometimes these drug interrodictions kind of get nipped in the bud with the simple traffic stop and people wonder, so why would you pull somebody over for something like that, Well, if you blew a stop, saying, first of all, you violated the law. If you speeded, you violated the law. If you're driving it safely,
you violated the law. But in addition, sometimes that opens the door to some pretty dangerous stuff. Oh absolutely. You know. One of the biggest tools we have is patrol division. You know, the patrol divisions. The police deportment is the front line of the police deportment, and they're tasked with a lot of different wars and part of those assignments or traffic enforcement. And during that traffic enforcement is a lot of times they will encounter burglars,
they will encounter drug runners, drug dealers, multiple wanted felons. So it's traffic. Traffic drives a lot of what we do and it protects the community
even in more ways than just slowing people down and slowing down accidents. It helps us to reach out and find those people that are less desirable on the street that affect our children and our families daily, and so we want to make sure that we're doing our best job possible on the street doing enforcing those traffic laws, and those do lead to other things, so very good.
Another thing that our police department really getting a really great name for it the fact that our officers are approachable and there's been so much I guess it's a good will that's been done with getting together and letting people know that, you know, you're not up against some kind of you know, secret society. These are the people here to help you. And you're now have the resource officers and all the schools. This is a great thing. Oh yes,
sir Tom. We just got school started last week and very happy along with the bars of public school system to be able to introduce those SROs to the school population. And we've got one in every school right now and one at Try County Tech. We've got a second one on the way for the high school soon as we can get them hired and put in place. Takes a little while to get a food saucer hired, so well, I understand, Tray County Tech is going to help you out with that here for too long
ago. I remember the last time we spoke, they were working on that with you. Well, that's another thing we're excited about. We're in the process right now moving into the old Strategy Center out there is our east Side substation, and we've got great plans for that. We'll be hosting what's called a EPOCH or a Basic Peace Officers School. That's a state sponsored police academy.
And so we'll be able to send people we are recruiting to that academy uh and keep them in town rather than have to send them to AID Oklahoma or Oklahoma to be trained into police academy. So and we can that will be uh taking on other people from this region. So it gives us a bigger pool to choose from. So hopefully we'll have some great officers come through that program that we can put to work. Well, Captain, you guys had a little bit of fun earlier this uh this spring with the big party
on the block. It's now there's something that almost filled the block. Now it fills the whole southern part of downtown. Yeah, yeah, that's not working out, But it's definitely growing. Uh you know, we're having a lot of fun with it. We have multiple different things to do there from library and and out books, the face paintings, jump houses, I will you know which I'm fond of is is the barbecue competition. So you know, we uh you know, just included our second year with that had total
ten ten teams last year. Uh, you know, looking to make it grow and and and go from there. So one of the things that stands out is, yeah, people are having fun, but kids are approaching the officers not with fear, but with hey, how we do this? You know where's that? You know? We have a lot of equipment out of the interaction. Yeah, a lot of equipment and different things for them to uh you know, call all over our trucks and we usually have K nine
demonstrations. We had break out our drones and flyer drones around and have a various uh special operations tactics gear for them to put on and and uh uh you know a lot of kids, well really a lot of people are kind of uh you know, how to say it, more fascinating law enforcement. So it's it's a great, a great opportunity to you know, really get into the inners of what we do and and try some things out cheaper. We're gonna have another one of those citizens uh Police Police Academies. Yes,
sir, we'll be back. We'll be starting to hopefully back up in March next year. We usually do one of those a year. We're excited about those, UH police just have. If you want, if you have any interest in law enforcement, whatever whatsoever, try to understand the workings of our police department. You can apply online at the Proposal Police Department web page for
that. It's a great time. It's once a week for twelve weeks and it's about a three hour night for you and each week has a different topic and we do demonstrations as well as if you want a dog bit, you can get dog bit. If you want tast you can get tasted. I mean and believe it or not. There as volunteers. I want to do that. So that's a good time and it really gets them to understand what
we do a little bit better. And that's what we want. Well, breaks down the walls and it builds a bridge, absolutely, and that's that's what we're really about. You know. We uh we uh started the job I'll speak for myself. We started this job more than to help people and to know people, and to treat people good and make sure they're safe in
their home and there's no fear for them living in our city. And you know, it's great to get out and be part of the community and to really share the love that we have for our citizens by interacting with them. And sometimes it's they always see us on their bad days, but we want to make sure that when they see us on the bad days, they know we're behind them and trying to do the best we can to make them have
a safe life. Very good, gentlemen. I want to thank you for being with us today and thank you for protecting the citizens of our community too. Thank you Tom. All right, once again, the fentinal form is coming up on the twenty fifth. Yes, that's great. All right, we'll see you there at six o'clock. Folks, bring your questions and also email them. Will give you the address a little bit later on. You've been listening to our community connection right here in game one, the one you trust
