Monday, November thirteenth, twenty twenty three, at approximately twenty one thirty nine hours or nine thirty nine hours or PM, at the intersection of US Highway sixty and State Highway one twenty three, Barswell Police Department were called to a homicide that occurred at that intersection of sixteen year old Marcus Stephen Scott of Bortlesville. He was shot in the torsol multiple times. Investigators have identified persons involved
in the incident. A suspect vehicle has been located in Coffeeville, Kansas, and the driver of the vehicle is a possible stub suspect in this case is also has been arrested in Coffinville, Kansas on unrelated charges. He's been held there and detained there at this time. Video has identified multiple witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting. The witnesses of the possible shooting would
like to have them come forward to help us further this case. We have video evidence that was gathered from businesses in that surrounding area to help us along with this investigation this time, but this is an ongoing investigation. We do have multiple suspects that are associated with this case, and uh so we continue the investigation as we wait to bring this young man that is our suspect back from from uh Coffeeville. Uh So at this time, that's an ongoing investigation.
At this time, it's still under investigation and we do not know the motive. Do we know the victims? The victim in a car or walking when you were shot? Sure, the victim had been in the car and he had exited that same car that the suspect was in. So the suspect and victim liked you knew each other. Yeah, this is a this is one of those incidents that is is no, Uh, the suspect of victim do know each other. So is it possible the victim was shot in the
car and has sus like left the body kicked the victim out essentially? Uh no, ma'am. Yeah, So how did the victim ended up in that area? Well, again, this is ongoing investigation. We do have uh witness, several witnesses we've been uh talking to and uh we're still establishing the that part of the incident. Is this anywhere related to the break in or where in the colonial neighborhood? No, sir, kay, do we know where the car involved was before the scene of the plan. We have witness
information of where where that uh vehicle was? Yes, do you wanna share? Was it are the club or home or house party? Uh? Not at this time? Is this fairly unusual? Involves in Sville? A men? How many homicize you? How like is it? Is it kind of a a shock to you to the communities and you guys like you know, is it kind of unusual? It is unusual. Uh, Boresville is typically a quiet town, quiet city. Uh we're population about thirty seven thousand,
and uh it's it's a great city. And uh uh these things happen that happened all over the country and and uh uh in this case, the the suspect and the victims know each other. Uh so this is nothing uh of concern other than uh you know that the s the citizens should be concerned with. For is is this a random deal? This is not a random incident. Do you remember where the victim went to school? Yes, the victim went to uh Bornsville High School. But what that just ship tells me the
victim was not as student there. I I that that. I don't know if he's was a student or is a student there at this time or not? I think he withdrew Okay, I think at one time he was, Kay, and he's not unlessily on however, howl about what many homicides do you have a year? And what number is this? This is? This is? Uh, number two in the first three? Number three? I'm sorry, number three. Uh. Typically we have one to two a year. Uh, and then we go sometimes without having any. So it's it's
kind of picked up in the last couple of years. Is the suspect tools would you have? Uh? No, ma'am. Suspect a man, an adult male suspect. Uh? Uh, Whether there's more information going on, We're trying to investigate fully. Uh. The reason there are no charges at this time, it's not we're not complete with our investigations. So uh, we do wanna make sure that if we do identify him as a true suspect,
that he we can we can uh release that information properly. Are you calling the person who's who was found in the suspected car for some interestment or a possible suspect, possible suspect? Okay? Are are are there possibly more suspects or just one? Uh? That's we'll continue the investigation to determine to make to make sure that there's not just one. If there's more than we wanna make sure we identify them. But so why you've ended up identified one
possible suspect. Uh really can't comment on just the one. What do it the witnesses describe seeing? Uh, witnesses describe what they saw and heard. Uh that I can't release at this time, but UH we do have substantial evidence to show that what they have told us is accurate. You're asking for the books, How well would you like will help cause? Sure? Sure? Uh? Well in uh looking at the videos of that area last night, Uh, there were multiple vehicles in the area. Uh. We have
a few v uh witnesses that have come forward. Uh we believe there are some others that have not come forward. They maybe not have s knowing what they were seeing, or just trying to get them in the area and try to interview them to find out what information they may have that others didn't have. Did was the victim that when you guys got bad, was it take him to the hospital or uh? He was he was uh down When the officers got on scene. Uh, they tried to administer the first daid Anulas
was pretty quick uh behind them. Uh. Uh they began working on him. Uh they had loaded him in the ambulance and uh they pronounced him on board of the amulets. Did the shots ring out at that area in the intersection area or somewhere else? Did the shoot me up that somewhere else? Are in there? No? What happened there? When the vehicle was located in Comfortable Kusas? I mean, how was that found? Was it doms and or like? Do you do you like? What's the nature of that?
Yuh? Uh at as a as You probably know that they were following up the leads and and one lead led to the accident led'em to the that location. Uh so it was it was part of the old Knight uh search for witnesses and gathering information from uh I informants coming forward and giving information. So the suspect was found it an address and comfortable Uh yes to my understanding, So the suspect was located at at like a location not driving thing?
Was it being over? I think that that is correct? Correct? I would just right about kind of all the run or was there any connection with Kansas? Uh? I can't comment on that at this time you obviously left the scene. So any other questions and why did you tell those? What was suspective? Is being held on since it's some of w to charge you said your suspect. Uh sure, I can tell you he was. He's been held on warrants out of Uh another jurisdiction is the suspect from the
Bordle School area? Uh? Yes, is he come to you? Uh? Yes. Do you know the relationship between the suspect and the Vinton I do not. Did the car belong to the suspect?
