Eight five five ninety Bible and good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome in. It's time now for our community connection right here on K one and the one he trusted. Being brought to you by Arnold Moore knee Campionial Home, Tall Grassloadors in Wesley and Kitty College. Now I've been talking to miss Tammy here with the Bartelsville round Up Club. We got talking so much almost forgot we had to do a
show. But welcome. How are you doing today? I'm doing just fine. It's always a good day when you get out of bed. Oh yes it is. Now we're talking the forty second annual Green Country Rodeo. And this is a big time. It always is, it always has been. It is it is. It's a big event for Bartlesville. Now, this got started in quite a different way than I would have thought. You said, a bunch of firemen had this for a long time ago. Yes,
years ago. The firefighters had the rodeo and it was at where the stadium is now the stadium. Yeah, and they put on a fireman's rodeo for years. Well then they quit doing it, and so bartles are a round up club. Picked it up forty two years ago and started having a big rodeo. This is pretty darn cool. I got a lot of history to it, and of course we have some historical figures that have been associated with this a long way, some of them your family members too. Yeah.
Yeah, Now when we put together the rodeo, everyone loves it, but they don't know how much work it takes to put into it. It's not one of those things before you paint the barn and put on a show. No, they work all year long, and this is our biggest fundraiser to keep the grounds up. We've got forty eight acres out there and we keep it up and keep it mode and repairs, bleacher repairs, leak repairs, I mean, you name it. We have the repair. We have to
do the repairs, and it's all volunteer. It is a quarter of directors. We have an absolute amazing board of directors and president of the Round Up Club has it's you cannot believe that hours and hours and hours him and his family have put in. Goodness. Thanks. Yeah, Now we've got we've got some covered bleachers out there and grateful silties. But it takes a while.
Takes a little bit of you know, a little green to keep keep things up and going, like we said, but I understand that we have some really cool events even for the eaty biddies all the way up to the big timers. Yes we do. We have um for the little kids, We'll have the calf Scramble and that's free all the little kids and watch fun. They sometimes they have like two divisions like twelve or eight to twelve and seven and unders. I don't know what the clown will do. He'll come
up with something fun. Yeah, and then they'll they'll run out there and chase those calves down and grab the ribbon off their tail and they'll get money for it if they bring the ribbon back to the clown. And that's always always just a fun, fun event. Um uh. And then we have the the barrel race. Now we have the barrel race is one of the main events, the open barrel race during the rodeo, and that's a high
dollar entry fee. But we have for each end of all vigil night Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we have the young kids that come and enter the rodeo. We have peewee barrels eight and under and then nine to fifteen, So those kiddos can come and run barrels at a nightly jack pot and it's a lot cheaper entry fee. So all the local people around here that's got a little barrel racer in their family come out in barrel race. It's a lot of fun. And you enter that nightly. You don't have to call
in, like if you're a professional. Even though you might be tiny mites, they are competitive. Oh, yes they are, Yes, they are. We are blessed with a community. Well, Oklahoma's just kind of famous. Yeah, the whole state is this. There's a barrel racer somewhere in somebody's family and and you know, the pretty serious about it. Okay I found that out. Yeah, pretty serious about it. And it's just a lot of fun. What other events do we have coming up in this well?
Also the mutton busting I forgot. That's get a little kiddos that Now, that's it. Nightly jack Pot, nightly, and you have to be in by it'll start at seven o'clock. The rodeo starts at eight, but they'll do the muttonbusters sometime between seven seven thirty, so you come about six thirty to enter up for that. As far as those little ones are concerned. That's the eight second ride. Oh yeah, yeah. They come to
the rodeo for the mutton Buster and the grand Entry. Well, you know the thing is with the little winds on the on the mutton Busters, as they say, uh, that's big time for them. But then again they bounce right off and they bounce right back up. They don't get hurt. Yeah yeah, they just say, well dog, never another try, and there's another rodeo, or just dry on the corner. And what do we
have for the bigger people we have here? We got we've got the wild horse race, a wild horse, yes, yes, And that's where they'll turn out a horse that is not tame at all, and they'll could turn him out with a halter on him, and they'll have three guys out there read to snub him down, get him saddled, and then one rider will get on and ride him across the finish line. And it is wild,
rough and tough, yes, And that'll be right at the beginning. So you've got to be there, you know, got to get on time because it's the first event usually and it's always a good start. Of course, there's the bull riding and the saddle bronc Ride and the barrel back riding um uh now my favorite or the tied tie down events, the tie down calf Ropen tie down, uh, Team Ropen Steer, open Um Women's Breakaway, very very famous event. Now it's really it's finally getting it's its name.
Yeah, yeah, it's finally getting its dou at the rodeos. It's it's real competitive. This sounds like this is gonna be a lot of action. It is. It is and and the Bighorn Rodeo Company is our Stockholm tractor and they do their very best to keep it moving right along and keep you interested. And we have a funny man that is just the best. I think his name is Gooby. He is hilarious. Now, what are the knights for the barnith the round up corner. It is July twenty seventh,
twenty eighth, and twenty ninth. So there's very few three day rodeos in Oklahoma, and this is one of them. Because we are IPRA and ACRA and and open I mean local people can come and inner. But IPR is International Professional Rodeo Association. ACR is American Cowboys Rodeo Association, and those are two of the big biggest associations around and very competitive. We'll get people from
several states to come and compete. Well, and I know that you have, yes, yeah, yes, what's the farthest way you think you have to make? Well a few years ago we had somebody from New York. Yes, yes, and we've had them from Idaho and Iowa. Um, I don't remember a California person. Well you had half New York kind of takes a cake right there. I can see Idaho, I can see Iowa, but New York kind of threw me. Yeah that was a I think that was a BRONC rider. Yeah that was during COVID. They're looking for
somebody too. I got a chance. Yeah, let me breathe. But no, we get them from Missouri, Kansas, Texas, a lot of a lot of Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma. Um and you know five or six states. This several competitors. Well that's great. Where do we get our tickets? Well, you can you can call me. Um My number is nine one eight four four zero six eight one two, and
I can put you in touch with a couple of queen candidates. Oh they're the ones old, the good or I've I've got tickets, and you can tell me which queen candidate you want credit to go to and um and we can get to discount tickets all the way till the Wednesday before the rodeo, the twenty six something tells me with the Queen's hare, whoever tells the most tickets might be taken the crowd. You're exactly right. And this is one of the few rodeos that it's only based on ticket sales um and and that's
a lot of controversy controversially. You know, people want to go, they want to do the big horsemanship competition and uh, the speech and beauty and all that stuff, which is fine, it is wonderful and very um admirable, admirable, But there's all those other kids out there that are just not not not there yet, but but they want to be. And this is
a chance for them between some really nice prizes. But they've got to get out there in hustle it, and that's that's kind of hard to do people, you know, the heat not But so if you've got somebody knocking on your door, please at least buy one ticket. And there's raffle stuff for them on the tickets. So there's a oh what do you call those grills
the Blackstone? Oh yeah, nice. Not for the rodeo tickets you get to enter entry into the Blackstone. And then for the Little Bridges tickets there's a five hundred dollars meat package donated by Rainy's Custom Meats there and yes, yes, good neighbors, Yes they are. And that's another thing I wanted to mention was our sponsors. Well, you've got great sponsors. We do. We've got the best community then in the whole wide world. I wouldn't
ever want to live anywhere else. A few of our our biggest ones where Bartlesville's Visitors Bureau. They're just behind us one hundred percent and we are so thankful for them. And then there's the State farm people Jim Moore, Zach Henderson and Matt Spence. They always help us out and they're they're just great sponsors. Williams Concrete and then the Back Roads Bar. Those are some of our biggest sponsors this year. Nice. We have so many. I couldn't
there's there's not enough time. And I apologize if I didn't say their name, but we will at the rodeo. Oh yeah, can sing. Yes, you can be sure it will be mentioned every night at the rodeo. You're, you're, you're, we'll be thanking you for your sponsorship. Yeah, I'm sure you're going to see their banners out there and the banners we put up banners along the road and in the arena and um, well, I tell you what. Every year about that time it turns into the place,
you know something's going on. It's like, hey, wow, flights camera and we'll have a photographer there too, sweet Cindy ab A photography. She always takes pictures for us, and you can find her on our website. Her not website are at Facebook page. Yeah. So uh and she takes really great pictures. So if you want a picture, just holler at her. You'll see her out there and she can take a little session with you or whatever. She gets around. I mean she's everywhere. Yeah,
she's really a nice person and we really appreciate her. Oh my goodness. Thing. Oh and the cost to get in the rodeo, Yeah, it's ten dollars at the gate. That's it. Yeah, wow, that's pretty reasonable. It is it is. And our discount tickets are eight dollars, so even better. Yeah, that call and UM for kids from seven to twelve years old, it's five dollars and there's no advance or discount on the five dollars. Tickets six and under is always free. Okay, very good.
This is family fun, This is our harry d. This is a tradition, and this is really where it's at. It is it is. They have so much fun out there, and of course we have cold beer and lots of hamburgers and Indian tacos. I've heard the hamburgers in the Indian tacos are kind of legendary. They are, and they're very good. They're very good. We've got some great cooks and the border directors. Can I just say their names? I just I cannot praise them enough for what they
do out there. They spend hours out there preparing for all our events. Devin Gray is our president. UH works full time job and and and keeps that place going. Yeah. UM and Tamra Hope, Kim Hoppeck. They are out there every day. They put our programs together. We'll be selling programs there. I believe they're going to be five dollars. I'm not sure, but we have a couple of thousand dollars worth of raffle prizes if you buy those programs and your numbers drawn. We got a couple of thousand dollars
worth of prizes for all three nights. So it's worth your five bucks, I tell you. And we only print like I don't know, I want to say three hundred. So everybody's got a good chance, very good and um so, uh so, I said Kim and Tamra. And then there's the Peterson's Jessica Peter Send, Brodie Peterson, Mike Peterson, Caitlin Peterson,
uh so, many people. The Shambles, Amanda Shambles. She she controls the queen content Okay and her husband Mark, and in their families, their extended families, they just you know, neighbors, you know, and anybody that wants to volunteer, give me a call. We'll we'll get you in there, get you in the rodeo, and you see a little bit rodeo, but you got to do a little bit of work. It's a nice trade off with a nice trade off. Yeah, well this is gonna be
really exciting and I really can't wait. This is gonna be a lot of fun. So we'll do a little story here on the internet here and tell you about where you can find your your tickets and everything else like that. And of course our video is going to keep playing on the Facebook Live as a recording for a good long time. But the good thing is it's on. It's happening. It might be a little bit warm, but we've got
we've got a lot of things to keep you occupied out there. Hey, the concession stands air conditioned, so you know you can get a little bit of a rest. That's good. Yeah, Oh jeez, Well, I gotta tell it, dam I mean, this has been a lot of fun. It's also been an education too. Well, thank you. I hope, I hope I can inform this is a really good event for Bartlesville.
And I'm surprised at the people that don't know anything about it. Well, we get so many people who move in every year a chance that you know, it's kind of new to them. So if you're a newbie, you've only been here about a year, year and a half or so, this is where it's at. You gotta you haven't seen anything until you've seen this. And it's located right before Acress the airport, right across from the airport
on the west side of the Research Center at the Highway sixty. You can't miss it, No, you cannot, between the Research Center and the right Yeah. Oh say, Casino was a nice sponsor too. Oh that's great. We got we gotta we got most of them in now. Yeah. Yeah, Well, Tammy, thank you very much. Well you're sure welcome, all right, folks, you
