Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome India. Time now for our community connection right here on K one, the one you trust it is right now eight thirty three and we've got a big to do coming up here very very shortly with the Bartlesville Community Foundation. Miss Laura, how are you doing today? I'll thank you. Well, you've got your notes all categorized and categorized and already to go, and you're far

more with it than I am today. But tell us we've got a big event and it's got just a little subtle difference this year, a subtle difference. Yes, we have the Legacy Hall of Fame Gala that will be on May twentieth at the Bartlesville Community Center and this is our fifteenth Legacy Gala. Wow, so we are very excited. We did make a slight change this year. We are recognizing local organizations rather than local families and that was just

because we felt like making a little change this year. Well, you've got we can pass around a little bit more celebration all the way around, because there's so many organizations and people who not only belong to them, but on boards and what have you. But it we're also helped by it. So this really kind of spreads the Yay power along. It does. And when we received the videos last week and so we've seen the kind of preview of

those were making some final edits and tweaks. But it's fun to see how people in both big players in both there are the same in both organizations, and so it's like we get to recognize families too. We get to recognize the people that have helped make those organizations work, the boards that have helped continue to make them successful. And I believe both of them are celebrating great

milestones in the next year. I'm going to get the years wrong, the number of years wrong, but I know Boys and Girls Club, which is one of the organizations we're recognizing, is reaching a big milestone next year. Anniversary milestone next year. And then okaym is a tradition in our community. So we're excited to unveil the history of both of those groups. In both

have quite the story to tell. They had a really great story to tell, and one is rather unique that you have to get your ticket to hear it, so that that's really going to be something marvelous. Now, the people who put together your videos. I get a kick out of those each and every time I at ten because not only do they tell the story, but they use a little bit of humor and uh, and it keeps you really engaged with the story the whole the whole way through, and there's no

lull. There is no lull. And she's the person who makes our videos is Christy Hewitt. She owns Bit Brilliant as a company here in town, and she does a wonderful job. And she does not only puts the videos together, but really coordinates the interviews with the people that the organizations have selected to speak on their behalf and tell their story. And so you're right,

it's going to be fun and engaging in those videos. Have just a little bit of humor along with a lot of history, and they do and it's it's great storytelling and it's well worth the price of admission, if not just for the videos, because you know you're going to learn a lot in just a few minutes that they're up there and everything, but it's really a nice get together for the entire community. You get to see folks maybe you haven't seen in a while and visit with them, and of course we get to

honor and celebrate ourselves. The best part. We get to honor and celebrate. Yep, come and celebrate. That's what it is. Now tell us a little bit about the foundation itself. It's more than just this one big gala. It's you help a lot of organizations along the way throughout the year. Every year we try our best to yes. So we have The Bartiswa

Community Foundation is twenty three years old. We were officially established as our own NST in two thousand, so we get to mark our years pretty easily with the year of the calendar. So you're twenty three and we see a rough amount of about two point two million dollars back out of the community and the communities that our donors serve every year. So we have think of the Community

Foundation is like your philanthropic bank. You can come to the Community Foundation and we have fund types that help people reach their philanthropic goals like a bank would have reaching someone their financial goals. And so we have a bank partner. We are not a bank just heavy out there, but we have endowed funds

that act for the best interest of our community in perpetuity. So we get to be our community savings account and we get to see all that go back out and affect everybody well for the positive talk about the fountain of proverbial foundation youth we try. We're going to come back in a little bit. We're gonna tell folks how they can get tickets to the big legacy event. And of course we want to hear how the story of how it got all started

here too as well. That's coming up here in just a little bit right here on K one. The one you trust is we get ready to have a few words from our sponsors. Aren't more in Knee Camp Funeral Home and a Wesleyan Kitty Colleague and tall Grass Motors all right here on K one.

Wesley and Kitty College is now hiring for part time positions. Wesley and Kittey College is a daycare center and as a Christian based morals facility, and their goal is to not only teach children academically, but to train them spiritually in Biblical truth. This is the perfect opportunity for high school students who are looking

for a part time job that is fulfilling and rewarding. Applicants would need to apply at seventeen eighty Silver Lake Road and Bartlesville for more information called nine one, eight, three, three, three, eighty six thirty. Is it time to start thinking about a new car? But the thought of dealing with the large dealerships is just too intimidating, too confusing. There is an easier way, tall Grass Motors. Tall Grassmotors doesn't play all the confusing games a

large dealerships play. Tall Grass Motors has continually been voted Bartlesville's best used car dealer year after year. Good by tall Grass Motors today and enjoy looking at over sixty used cars, trucks and SUVs, all prized to save you money.

Tall Grass Motors Highway seventy five North in Bartelsville, Tim Howell, Arnold Moore and Knee Camp Funeral Home. You have to start out giving comfort because your role is to help that person walk through the worst day of their life, and they're counting on you and your expertise and they trust you to get them through this. That's what we try to do and do exceedingly well, is walk hand in hand with our clients and say, you know, hunt,

we've been down this road. We'll help you down. Here's what we've learned, here's the benefit of our years, and this let us help you with this. Do you have suggestions? Our job is to relieve the stress so you can grieve and you can heal. And that staff at seven ten South Dewey does a tremendous job of just putting their arms around people and loving them. And they have one goal and that's to satisfy the family and that final tribute to their loved one. It'll be all right. We'll walk with

this together. Arnold Moore and knee Camp Funeral Home, seven ten Dewey, martels of it. We will walk through this together. Okay. One news time is eight forty and continuing with our conversation with miss Laura here from the Bartletsfield Community Foundation. You guys have a little bit of a story yourself, not just being twenty some odd years old, but how it got started is

quite unique too. This doesn't happen in every community, no, and there's really in the state of Oklahoma, there are very few community foundations, darn few. Indeed, there are you know, like seven or eight pretty known ones. Tulsa Community Foundation is the largest foundation in the country. So we're pretty fortunate to be down the street from someone who's doing really awesome work in their community. Our Community Foundation, as I mentioned, is twenty three years

old, and we have been kind of the little engine that could. And then we received very life changing gifts in about twenty and seventeen, well fifteen fifteen that built our endowment that helped us be a sustained organization, and so that really shifted our focus from hosting events to you know, fund our operating so we could do the things that we were meant to do to fund it overhead, so that we could just do the things that we were here to

do. So that's what we get to help other organizations try to achieve through endowment funds for themselves to benefit their organizations so that we can just continue serving our community and not worry about what you know, fundraising the next dollar. Now, the big event, the big gale of the night is the night is May twentieth, and it's going to be at the Bartlesville Community Center. H Yes, and godly last year, boy, that place it dolled up

nice. You guys don't have to throw a party. We try really hard and we have a great committee that does it with me and my staff or our team at the Community Foundation does it. We are small but mighty. We have three of us and then we have a committee of six and we just try our best to get it good. A great evening, put together, lighting, everything was just perfect. Now, how can we get tickets to this ground? Salare? You can find them at the Bartlesville Community Foundation,

which is Bartlesville CF dot org. You can call her office nine eight three three seven two two eighty seven, or just stop by and we have an office dog. You give the office dog a little treat and you buy a ticket to the Legacy Hall of Fame event. Well, there you go, just like coming home, isn't it? And it absolutely is? All right? Well, lord, thank you for being with us today. It's

my pleasure. Thanks for having me. All right, Folks, you've been listening to Community Connection right here on K one, the one you trust, and it's been brought to you by Arnolds, Moore and Kneecamp a funeral home, Tall Grass Voters in Westley and Kittie College
