All right, it is that time now for community connection right here on Gay one, the one you trust. Today it is eight thirty three, sharing world with the Greek. Bartellsville Chamber of Commerce is with us today and we've got a lot going on and a lot to come and maybe even just maybe a subtle change in the lineup, which we got. We have a subtle change in the lineup. Yeah. I love rain. We need rain. We always welcome rain. But I wish it wasn't going to rain tomorrow.

It is our classic golf tournament. It's our spring golf tournament, and I think we're got cancel it. We've held on till today to make that call because you know, Oklhoma weather changes. But yeah, any we don't have a date, yeah, we'll reschedule it. So if any of our golfers happen to be listening, we will reschedule that. Just the club has so much on their calendar. It's you know, two of the dates that they had one was our gala and the other one was our forum this coming Tuesday.

So it's like, well we can't do that todays. So between their calendar and our calendar, we will reschedule and the reason I say this, it's really our only blatant quote fundraiser that the chamber does, but it is

to support the maintenance of our building. And people don't know. We're located in the old train depot downtown and people a lot of people don't realize we take care and own the property from the South Park kind of where that gazebo is, all the way to the North park, like where the ice rink is at Christmas in the Ville, and it's just it's just a lot.

It's very expensive, and we try to be very good stewards of the building, try to keep it up, but when something happens or something breaks or part of the roof needs replaced, whatever, it is very very expensive. So anyhow, that is a fundraiser to help with maintenance on our building. And so we appreciate those that come out and golf and sponsor and that kind of thing. But tomorrow's golf tournament is going to be canceled and it will

be rescheduled. Alrighty, And now that's not a it's not a brand new building, although it looks pretty darn brands breakingto iteen O nine one hundred years old. Yes, it is so plumbing issues, all those things are never, never cheap to to fix. So but we love it. It's it's a great building. It's it's I love being housed in there, and it's a great piece of property. And like the farmer's market's getting ready to kick off, we let the farmers market use the property. People don't realize that

they can use that green space if they have an event. We've had weddings there, little ceremonies, that kind of thing, so you know, we'd like to have it there. And it's nice to have that green space downtown and we like to, you know, keep up with it. But it's it is as soon as we turn our sprinklers on if we have to, it's I mean, this is an expense we need. We need to repair our sprinklers. So just there's always something. So I want wine, but

it's expensive to take care of. Just all I'm saying. So we appreciate our golf tournament and our golfers and our sponsors for that tournament. Well, let's let's take a little look back. About a week or two ago. You took a big old bus trip down to Capital. How'd that go? That's Capital? Man, it was great. It was probably some nice pictures. It was I say this every year. It is probably the best one we've ever had in the sense of of course, we had a great lineup

of speakers. You know, they all come to us, and the governor came, the Attorney General. Just a great lineup of speakers. But we also got into a lot of places in the capital that we don't normally necessarily get into, just some of the rooms and and different things. So they got the group got to really see a lot of the capital that you know, the general public doesn't necessarily get to see. And then, like I

said, the lineup of speakers that came in was was top not. The only one we were really missing that was top leadership was and he's my favorite speaker, Matt Panell, but he was out of state. So I'm doing something but probably so it actually he's we've got him scheduled, but it's not till October, but we will have him speaking out our chamber one of our

chamber forms next season October fifteenth. But anyhow, he was the only one that really wasn't there that you know normally comes in, so top leadership and it's just we had forty three in attendance, and all but two people met us down there rode the bus. We have a nice big charter beust thanks to PSO and their sponsorship for that, and so we ride down in style and it's a good day. Yeah. Indeed, we've got some great days coming up to We got a big event coming up here real soon, which

are you talking, Yes, we do. May fourteenth is the biggest event of our year and it's a wrap up of our year. We start we have July first year, so we wrap it up a little bit early. But it's our one hundred and twentieth annual awards in Gala. So we're celebrating one hundred and twenty years as a chamber and the evening is just it's a really inspirational evening. We leirship barters Will graduates, we hear from the YPS,

we hear from our incoming and outgoing chairman. And then the Community Awards or seven different community awards. There's Business of the Year, small Business of the Year, several awards that go to individual that are named in honor of some individuals that have given to our community, rising star young you know, leader of becoming So just it's a. Really it's really fun evening. It's a lot of work, but we we really it's a good way to wrap up our year. And like I said, we we wrap it up about

a month early. But last year we did it in June. And no matter when you do something. This year we're competing with some fifth grade graduations in baseball banquet. But no matter when you do something, there's always going to be a conflict. It's Bartlesville. But in June we had like one of our award winners, wasn't there people go on vacation, really, Jane, you know, especially if you have kids. So no matter when we

do it, it's it's it's a challenge. But anyhow, so we're doing it May fourteenth, and it's at Hilton Garden End, and I hope all our members, well not all of them, we went off fit, but we'd love to have you in attendance if you are one of our chamber members or had come as a guest. So super so. And then Tuesday we have this coming Tuesday, I didn't know which one you were referring to.

We have our fifth in our Forum of six uh next forum and it's going to be our state of the City Forum and that's held at Tri County Tech and Mike Bailey, our city manager, will be giving an update on the strategic plan process where we're at and just updates with the city and go from there. Last year he did a really good job and it's just nice to get an update straight from from from them, and so it should be a

really good one too. So there, there are and a lot of good We just have people serving our community with good intentions and good hearts and they're good servant leaders. And I just I really appreciate the city and how how they work with our community and how they try to progress and move forward. And there are challenges, yes, but they they're they're working on the challenges that we face. And I'm just I'm very I'm proud of our city and

our city leadership. So yes, it is, it is, and you know, well there but yeah, it is a great place to live. And I would not want to live anyplace else right now, neither that's out there. It's crazy, it is crazy. It's fairly tame here and I appreciate that. So bart as will. We're a team in the tagline. I don't think you know, Miss Guss is kind of digging that one. But anyway, this is great. I mean you're going to be like so

busy you probably won't sleep for about half a month. Well no, but I'm going on vacation as soon as the Now, this gala is really great. We have all these different kind of categories and all these really different awards, and it's not like there's one award and we all go home. We recognize different segments of our of our makeup here and also individuals as well as you know groups we do. In fact, you're exactly right, there's there's

an organization that's going to be honored. I mean, it's just it's this year. We got a lot of We've got a lot of nominations and so it was really really hard. I hate that. So you know, I'm one of the RST wants everybody to win. But you know, they really looked at the content and what was submitted and that kind of thing. But

it was encouraging to see the nominations that came in. So but really some good, great individuals and there's so many, I mean you could honor and of course you look back on we have the plaques in our chamber and our lobby past winners of the Difference Awards, and you look back at names and you're like, oh man, we just we've we've been so blessed as a community with the leadership we've had and people, the volunteering we've had, what

people have done for our community, and so it's always great and nice to honor them. It's an honor to be able to honor people in our community. And we've got some great winners again this year. Oh my gosh, So we do have some tickets left for the big event. We do. I'm not sure where we're at. I haven't looked, but I'm sure we do. Yeah, we'll all last minute planners, so we'll pitch you in there some place that holds holds. Yeah, we'll be fine. But I

mean, there's always some room for one more. It is. And speaking of registering, any of these events can be found on our website which is very easy bartlesfol dot com and you can just register there. You can buy individual tickets for the event or you can buy full tables and and then you're listening to the program that kind of thing. But anyhow, you can just bartlesfol dot com, click on the calendar and register that way. Do we have another business after hours coming up? We do? Do we have to

take a break or we did. Let's take a break to thank you for reminding me. She's more on the ball than I am. But you hear me, punctual pete, that's for sure. So this is your Gibriel minute. Most everyone has heard the scripture John three point sixteen for God's love the world, that he gave his only begotten son, who's ever should believe in him should not perish but have everlasting Like I believe that that scripture is really of no avail if not followed up by the very next scripture John three point seventy for God to not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be

saved. And that is the foundational scripture by which get Real Ministries was founded. And we're back with Sherry Will from the bartles Wild Greater Bartiswill Chamber of Commerce, and we were talking about an upcoming event. It's called Business after Hours. Yeah, this is gonna be a really fun one. It is May second, so next Thursday, and it is going to be hosted by Kitty Park. So we will be at Kitty Park. Ye like that, that

would be so fun. Well, I'm so excited to see all the renovations and things happening with Kitty Park. It's happening, it is. I'm real anxious to see it. I've driven by, but you know, actually actually it's been a while since I've driven by, but just all the improvements they're doing. That is such an icon of bartles Bill and that is an attraction. People don't realize how far people come to from, you know, and it's kind of like Christmas in the build. They come over and what do

they do while they're here. They're gonna eat and possibly shop while they're here, especially if they're from you know, smaller communities. So it's it's a great it's a great asset to our community. And I forgot how old, what seventy five years? It's something I don't know. It's it's it's been

around for a long long time, so it's longer. Yes, it's old than I am, apparently the anyway, So it's gonna be it's gonna be a kittie park and the actually are gonna have a couple of rides going that adults connect do they come fun so they have a different spin on it. Point of business after hours is to showcase the host obviously, which in this case is Kittie Park, but it's for our members to be able to make

those connections, meet new folks, just just get together. And like I said, the stories that come out of after hours speed networking, which we had last night, it's it's to make those connections where people can can you know, meet a new business person and hopefully use their service when when they may need it. So that speed connection that's like speed dating. That's why you're laughing speed dating. It's not speed dating, yeah I know, but

I mean you get to get to know each other pretty quick. And so how did that go last night? Good? Does it does? It's a fun group and uh, you know they always start off a little bit retis in or whatever, a little bit you know, shy or whatever. But then you know, one or two people go and then it just it's like they're all friends when they when they leave. So that's that's a you don't find that everywhere now you don't. And so it's it's a fun of it's

small by design. I mean, we don't want it to be a big event. It's harder to do that kind of thing when it's a big giant you know, yeah, exactly, So it is smaller by design, and we do try to limit you know, the industries represented. So but yeah, I went really good also just to kind of get on the radar screen

for people that might be interested. May the ninth is our last day for Leadership Bartlesfield's the Hearts and Tourism. They always end with a really fun day and they'll graduate, like I said at the Gay Lab, But if you're interested in the Leadership Bartswell program, it Applications for that will open up June the first and they'll close June thirtieth. So if you or you know somebody in your company that you would like to send through Leadership bartles wiill program be

on the lookout for. That will be on our website and you can just do the application you know, on you know, electronically and send it in and it's it's a great program. So it'll start June thirty or June first through June thirtieth, and they'll be NotI late July, and then the program kicks off in August. So and for everything related to the chamber, go to that wonderful website, Kyle Lee. It's pretty well, thank you. It's easy to navigate too, it is. And I still like that the

video, I know, I love that video. The great representation of Bartlesville. It is. It kind of covers all aspects from branching to you know, big business to just it's a it's a great you know, it's got the schools and everything in it. It's it's a really good one's fun all right at Bartlesville dot com. Check us out, Sherry, thank you for being with us, Thank you, thank you. We appreciate the radio station and the great job you guys do keep in our
