McLibel
In a legal case that won international media attention, McDonald’s sued two
British environmental activists for libel in 1990. Helen Steel and Dave
Morris had distributed a flyer that criticized McDonald’s, including the
company’s environmental practices. Unable to afford an attorney, Steel and
Morris defended themselves in court. McLibel, a film documenting the case,
opens in San Francisco on June 10. Join Terra Verde as we discuss the film
and its implications with Dave Morris himself, as well as Fast Food Nation
author Eric Schlosser and San Francisco Vegetarian Society President Dixie
Mahy.
