EP#13 Turning 30 - Our Expectations vs Reality

With Ella turning 30 in two weeks and Steph having already reached the big milestone last April, we goss about what we ‘should’ have ticked off the invisible expectation list that comes hand in hand with turning 30 (aka having your shit together). Whether it’s the pressure of getting married, buying a house or having a kid - we delve deep into our fears and where we sit on all three. 

The reality? We don’t fit into the cookie cutter mould of what “being thirty” means and we’re okay with that. Realising we’re not quite where our parents were at our age is scary but we’re embracing the paths we’ve chosen. 

Reflecting on all the highs and lows of our 20s - navigating work, life and relationships - we’ve had a pretty wild ride and don’t regret a thing. We’ve also replaced having a kid (for now) with our fur babies Kobe and Tonka, and we love them like children lol. 

If you’re about to turn thirty, the biggest lesson we’ve learnt is not to put too much pressure on yourself to conform to what you think you should be doing because at the end of the day, everything works out exactly how it’s supposed to.
