Jesus tells a famous story of a man in Luke 12 who plants more and more crops and builds bigger and bigger barns. He gives his life to the dream of having ‘more’ and God calls him a ‘fool’. This man misses his life. None of us want to be this guy. None of us want to ‘miss our lives’! In this passage Jesus teaches some incredibly profound principles about living a Kingdom life through which we live lives that are ‘rich towards God‘ and ensure we do not miss our lives.

In a world where power can so easily be abused, what does Kingdom power look like? In this chapter of Luke Jesus shows us that it's not just judgement or wrath like some think it will be, but that Kingdom power looks like compassion. In two short stories we see the power of god at action in two very different ways. Both however show the Kingdom of God at work.

Matt Chandler helps us see the glorious alternative. Matt is lead pastor at The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas, and the President of the Acts 29 Network. He is married to Lauren and they have three children.

The account of Jesus’ Crucifixion in John 19 helps us see the big story of Scripture fulfilled: God’s plan for salvation is happening as Jesus dies. But we also are drawn into the personal story, the eyewitness account of how Jesus calls out in love to his mother and to John who are watching these events unfold. On Palm Sunday, Phil Varley, our Senior Associate Pastor, preached out of Mark 11 and Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem. In particular he posed the question, ‘How could everything changes so quickly from what seems so positive on this day, to what develops over the next few days?’ As he focussed on what the crowds got right, and what they got wrong about Jesus, Phil encouraged us all to welcome, recognise and respond to Jesus fully throughout this coming Easter week.

Wellbeing in our work comes as we move with the grain of God’s purpose in creating work in the first place. Specifically, it means recognising three things that we find in Genesis 1-3, and in 2 Thessalonians 3: that work is universal, that it is good, and that it is hard. This message by Andrew Wilson, our Teaching Pastor, concludes our series ‘God’s Plan for Your Wellbeing’.

As we look at our relational wellbeing dial, many of us will find our tank empty. In this message by HIlary Dalziel, one of our Pastors who helps lead the Catford site, we look at how to fill that up through restoring loving relationships with those closest to us and with our church family. It requires dealing with conflict and asking for forgiveness, but if we come to Jesus first, He will fill us with His love and grace and enable us to take the first steps.

Paul does not hide how he felt, but describes the emotional roller coaster that he went through. Likewise, we need to cope with our emotions when we go through difficult times. What practical steps can we take to manage our emotions in the situations we face?

Physical Wellbeing is a common term that is used today. But what does God have to say about it? In this message, Moses looks at the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, to show us that God takes an interest in our physical wellbeing, and therefore we should too. God supplies all that we need to enhance it – food, rest and exercise. And because of the Lord Jesus’ triumph over death, physical wellbeing need not be and end in itself, because we too will conquer death through our union with Him.

In this opening message of the series, Phil teaches how wellbeing has always been part of God’s plan for human beings. Jesus invites us to come to Him and He says that if we will come and surrender to Him, He will give us rest. Phil then looks at what it means to have a ‘wellbeing mindset’ and teaches out of Psalm 23 that God really does want us to know and to live in the reality of the truth that “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, he makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me bes...
