Jesus tells a famous story of a man in Luke 12 who plants more and more crops and builds bigger and bigger barns. He gives his life to the dream of having ‘more’ and God calls him a ‘fool’. This man misses his life. None of us want to be this guy. None of us want to ‘miss our lives’! In Philippians Paul writes about the occasion when Epaphroditus fell ill, nearly died and had to be sent home. Paul does not hide how he felt, but describes the emotional roller coaster that he went through. Likewise, we need to cope with our emotions when we go through difficult times. What practical steps can we take to manage our emotions in the situations we face?
Physical Wellbeing is a common term that is used today. But what does God have to say about it? In this message, Moses looks at the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, to show us that God takes an interest in our physical wellbeing, and therefore we should too. God supplies all that we need to enhance it – food, rest and exercise. And because of the Lord Jesus’ triumph over death, physical wellbeing need not be and end in itself, because we too will conquer death through our union with Him.
