The book of Exodus raises all sorts of questions for us today about historical accuracy, dating, divine violence, and of course slavery. This seminar digs into these issues in a bit more depth with a mixture of teaching and Q&A.
There are still areas in which God's people are still in slavery and oftentimes they respond with hardened hearts like Pharaoh. Like Moses Jesus has come to set us free.
I AM. God reveals himself to Moses in the burning bush, and identifies himself simply as “I am who I am.” God is not like us: He is completely different – independent, infinite, eternal, unchanging – He is.
Ways in which God brings people out of slavery into freedom. Before Moses leads the people out of the water, God leads him out of the water. Even the terrible trials of our lives can be used by God to serve others.
Like Blind Bartimaeus, when we call out, Jesus hears, Jesus sees, Jesus stops.
As we take a step towards God, fear diminishes and trust develops.
Serving with J-O-Y – Jesus first, Yourself last and Others in-between.
Serving is at the heart of what it means to be a Christian. We love God because God first loved us, we serve God because God first served us.

We are stewards of all our gifts, but money is often the one that tests the others. Biblical stewardship is a mixture of contentment, generosity and provision.
"Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice." Paul urges his disciples to copy him, and imitation is crucial in the Christian life. Paul applies this particularly to peace, in our relationships, our prayer lives and our thought lives.
Celebrating families, mothers and new life with dedications on Mothering Sunday.
Adoption is part of God's plan for us. We are adopted as sons and daughters for God's glory because of Jesus.
Becoming a believer involves a change of identity, of status: we become citizens of heaven, and live in this world as citizens of another one. The return of Jesus as king provides us with the sticking power we need to continue in faith
Following Jesus is about worshipping God in joy and in the Spirit, but also in laying aside all things – considering them rubbish – in order to gain Christ. True worship involves the whole of life.
Paul speaks of three different but intimate relationships, with the Philippians, Timothy and Epaphroditus. Each is characterised by joy, mixed with perseverance (Philippians), concern (Timothy) and sacrifice (Epaphroditus). Christian relationships are the same.
Following Jesus is about imitating him, having come to recognise and worship him as Lord, and then living it out.
The Christian life is hard work, and involves suffering as well as deliverance, opposition as well as joy. Our best weapon is an eternal perspective: to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Believers are caught up on God's mission, what Paul calls 'partnership in the gospel'. We are also partners in grace, and of course we share in Christ himself.
