Welcome to the libertarian Institute and Keith Knight. Don't tread on anyone. This is a summary of the research done by Robert G. Eldini A & A section of his book titled, social proof, the principle of social proof states. That one important means that people use to decide what to believe, or how to act in a situation is to look at what other people are believing or doing their powerful. Imitative effects have been found among both children and adults and in such diverse
activities. As purchase decisions, Charity donations and phobia remission. The principle of social proof can be used to stimulate a person's compliance with a request by informing the person that many other individuals, the more the better are or have been complying with it. Social proof is most influential under two conditions. The first is uncertainty when people are unsure, when the situation is ambiguous. They are more likely to attend
to the action. Of others and to accept those actions as correct in ambiguous situations, for instance, the decisions of by standards to help are much more influenced by the actions of other bystanders. Then when the situation is a clear-cut emergency, the second condition under which social proof is most, influential is similarity. People are more inclined to follow the lead of similar others evidence for the powerful effect. Act of the actions of similar others on human behavior.
Can be readily seen in a suicide statistics compiled by sociologist. David Phillips. Those statistics indicate that after highly publicized suicide
stories. Other troubled individuals who are similar to the suicide story, victim decide to kill themselves in analysis of the mass suicide incident at Jonestown Guyana. Suggest that the group's leader, Reverend Jim. Elms used both of the factors of uncertainty and similarity to induce a herd like suicide response from the majority of the Jonestown population recommendations to reduce our susceptibility.
To faulty, social proof include a sensitivity to clearly, counterfeit evidence of what similar others are doing and a recognition that the actions of similar others should not form the sole basis for Our decisions. One of the purposes of bumper stickers is simply to engage in Social proof when someone puts on a burning sticker or a trump sticker. It's not a argument convincing. People of why they should vote for this or that Canada.
It just says Trump on it or just as Bernie 2020, something like that. This is definitely something we should be using to our advantage. You can go to places like libertarian country and get really cheap bumper stickers. I got this. On tours to one for myself, use code Liberty 20, they're not a sponsor but their place. I like shopping at. Also, the libertarian Institute offers a variety color of shirts with our logo on it. You can also check out places
like the Misa store. The more people see that, there's just more of us and it goes were buying their attention again and again and again it sits in the back of their mind and says, well a lot of people are believing this thing and they're confident enough to To spend money and put it on their car or two. I'll wear it as a t-shirt. That alone is how you can play a small role in.
Increasing the likelihood. That people will see libertarianism as one a legitimate ideology, worthy of addressing and to maybe considering it for themselves. This is how I was originally. Researching the idea. I just saw so many people with Ron Paul stickers, Googled Ron, Paul bought his book, The Lucian out of pure curiosity, just because I had seen other people talking about it and it looked like there were a lot of dedicated people behind this
guy. So that is social proof and some ideas as to how we can use it to our advantage. Thank you for watching the libertarian Institute and Keith Knight. Don't tread on anyone.
