When Nancy Newman didn’t show up for work on March 15, 1987, her coworker became worried and called Nancy’s sister, Cheryl Chapman and asked if she could check on Nancy. Cheryl and her husband immediately drove over to Nancy’s apartment that she shared with her husband and 2 young daughters. When they arrived and no one answered the door, they used the spare key to enter. What they found was so gruesome and horrific that it shook the community of Anchorage, Alaska to the core and would be labeled as “The crime of the century.”
