Welcome back again for day four of our 12 Days of Chaos Christmas edition of some very short, very to the point, actionable joy-loving home podcasts. We are just having fun with the 12 Days of Christmas Christmas song.

We are subbing in items to do around our house that we will do on repeat, like the song repeats, so that in the midst of all the chaos of the holidays, our home sort of at least attempts to stay up with us so that we're not adding to the stress of all the things that happen at the holidays and stressed about how our house is working out for us. So play along, have fun with us. It's just something to give a try.

So if you have been following along, you know we started with day one, which was learning about the so that. If you're not sure about what I'm talking about, please back up four episodes and just join us from the beginning. You could do all four quite quickly. They're less than 10 minutes each, and you could put me in your ears and work while it's happening.

I also, just for point of reference, have a little PDF download, which one of my listeners, thank you very much, sent me a message that I have two things on repeat. So when we get to that day, I'm going to change it and you all can scratch it out and write a different thing in. But that's days eight and days 10. So if you have not caught that yet, you're not quite as observant as one of my other listeners.

But how do you get the PDF in your hands if you want it? You can join my completely free podcast community. You go to just open up a browser window and type bit.ly slash joylovinghomecommunity. And you will arrive at my community in the files. There's the PDF and you can download it while you're there. If you're interested, I also have a 12 Days of ADHD Christmas where we.

Are doing our Christmas tasks in a very non-linear way. But if you're working to complete all the things, you're going to feel more ready for Christmas than you have in the past. And it's just, it's something that is tailored to our brains to help us get through all the things. In my free group and in my membership group, I am going live every day. I'm demonstrating what I mean by the latest day. And we're just cranking through and working on these things together.

So if that sounds like something fun, jump in, join us. We would love to have you. Speaking of the membership group, if you have not heard me talk about this before, it is just an accountability group where we have a new theme every month. I have Zoom calls that work with me Wednesdays. Every Wednesday, I arrive four different times in the group. We work together. It's just a really lovely accountability session. The whole month is only 10 bucks.

So it's the cheapest accountability body doubling session you're going to find out there. And it comes complete with these new themes every month and a chance to share our wins and get some encouragement. And it's just the loveliest place to be. But to get there, you go to joylovinghome.com slash membership, and you can join that. Cancel any time. It might be a really lovely Christmas present to give yourself. So anyway, jumping into today's 12 Days of Chaos, we are going to do four.

Empty counters. And what I mean by that is just literally look around right now. It could be your kitchen. I should have probably called this four clear surfaces. So if you see stuff piled up anywhere on something that could be a really nice, peaceful, flat surface that is empty or nearly empty, that is what you're going to target today. So in my kitchen, for instance, I count each segment as its own counter.

So the left of the sink is one, the right of the sink is one, the left of the stove is one, the right of the stove is one. And that way, when I say four clean surfaces or four empty counters, I can quickly hit each one, even if it's about me in a five-minute timer, because we're just trying to set a five-minute timer for this.

Taking a five-minute timer and emptying all of the things that go to the sink right into the sink, maybe start, soapy water before you even begin this process, and then putting away a quick couple things that may be on all the different surfaces, and then taking the time before the timer goes off to actually wipe them down.

You're going to feel so much better about that. Or if your kitchen happens to be in great shape, and you want to walk in your living room and look around and go, oof, I have this piled up on that end table and this piled up on that end table, So count those as surfaces and try and straighten them up very quickly and maybe dust them off. Or...

Another fun location could be in, you know, playroom if they've got stuff all over the top of a little toy kitchen or all over the top of a Lego table and none of them are Legos. It just happened to be where all the stuff was piled on or an entrance that was supposed to be the landing zone. And it's working very much as the landing zone, but everything is landing on it and then being forgotten. And if you're like, oh, there's no way I could get to four, set the five-minute timer and do one.

You're still a step ahead. Then when we repeat this again tomorrow, pick a new surface. I was just having fun with the song, so roll with it. I also want to do a quick shout-out to Jessica, who has listened to these podcasts and hears me struggling when I go to repeat day one because I have no rhythm in it. And she tried to help me find it, so I'm probably going to butcher this, and I am definitely not singing it, but I'm going to try and say it correctly.

So today, as we jump into this 12 days of chaos, we're going to do four empty surfaces, three clean bathrooms, two fluffy pillows, and my so that to set priorities. And if you don't know what I mean by a so that, that's episode one of this little series. So go back and jump into that. All right. Gotten long winded. I'll stop there. I hope you guys have the loveliest time just experimenting with this as you enter even deeper into your holiday season and continue to choose joy.
