The Psalmist says, their idols are merely things. They have no mouths, no eyes, no ears, they cannot smell, they cannot hear or feel or walk. They have no throats, and they make no sound. But there is a God who became one of us. And he has a mouth and eyes and ears, and he can smell and feel and walk. And he has a throat and he can make a sound. Our Lord fully embraced humanity by becoming one of us. And he continues to represent us before the Father, as the Son of Man. And there he continues to use his body to draw us into his life and to set us free. So with the psalmist today we proclaim, we will trust in him. He is our helper, and our shield. We will trust in him. He is our helper and our shield. Amen.
