Journey to the Fringe

Journey to the Fringerss.com

Thanks for checking out our podcast! We look at fringe topics often neglected, or ill discussed, in a light hearted and open manner. These topics run the gambit from the mundane water pollution, recycling, and tax evasion to the fantastical moth persons, time travellers, and paranormal. For us there’s no cryptid too creepy, topic too trivial, or djinn to dreary. Also we like to do exposes on assholes of the UFO community. To keep things fresh (and also because we aren’t really sure how to start podcasts) we start every week off with a Fringey Mini recent news article and discussion (It’s the podcast equivalent of not knowing what to do with your hands). And as we say in our intro from the unexplained to the mundane, join us on our journey to the fringe.

Water we talking about

Hey you! yeah you! Wow I can't believe that worked... anyways, ever think about water? And not just a majestic narwhal just friggin' thrashing hard on a hammer head shaped guitar (you know, just the common sea metal imagery). No the shitty parts where we cause near cataclysmic levels of damage to it with pollution (which spells certain doom to the aquatic metal scene). Well don't worry we are here to bring you up to speed but not with that common mumbo jumbo, no the stuff most people neglect for...

Like the Predator but without the copyright... Glimmerson

Welcome back for another week of words being slung here at Journey to the Fringe Taylor starts us out with a rare feel good PR of Meri Myon who had her birthday cake replaced by American soldiers for her 90th birthday. Doubling as a PR stunt this was also the anniversary of the date the 88th infantry division made it's way into Vicenza April 28, 1945. The entree of this episode is the "new" (ish) phenomenon the Glimmerman, or Glimmerson as we prefer here at Journey to the Fringe. Chelsie takes u...

Is this disease real? Morgellons Disease

Medicinal science is one of those things we generally put on the back burner as a given (Let's just leave out the whole COVID thing for the purposes of this statement). The doctors and scientists in this field generally have a handle on things and at least know when something needs treating and when something does not... right??? Let me introduce you to the world of Morgellons disease, where you could ask the crazy man with all those red suede fedoras who lives down the street (you know the guy!...

The one, the only Richard Doty Part 2

To start us out on this episode Taylor is regaling us with an article from the Guardian about PFAS which includes where and also what they are and how they're affecting your life whether you like it or not! It's all very horrible and complicated. Next up Richard Doty ... again! Who needs no introduction, especially if you listened to our last episode. We're finishing up this 2 part episode on this d-bag and up next on the Ricky D journey we take a look at the Majestic 12 which we find out about ...

The one the only Richard Doty Part 1

Ricky D Part 1. Join us on our 2 part Journey to the bio pic-expose on a strange, slippery individual by the name of Ricky D. To start we take a look at the back ground of Richard Doty as a special agent in the Air Force office of investigations (AFOSI) in Kirtland Airforce base working as a counter intelligence and disinformation agent. Ricky D has a long history of feeding disinfo into the UFO community which is hard to put together, based on all the lies, Don't worry because Chelsie has put e...

A Heritage Minute: The Shag Harbour Incident

As Canadian podcasters we are sworn to uphold the sacred code as passed down by CRTC and ensure 10% of our content is Canadian. It may not actually apply to us but if your not a telecommunication conglomerate, the CRTC is a terrifying Sauron like force so we are just going to play it safe. Today we expand a historical piece of Canadiana known as Heritage Minutes... it was almost house hippos :( We take a look at an incident that really should have had it's own minute on Canadian television to sh...

Whatever this episode's about - The Stone Sculpture Edition

Have you ever looked at rocks and thought "man those are some neat rocks"? Well some of our ancestors looked at rocks and thought "man those rocks could look neater". Welcome to the world of megalithic petrosculputures (or rock sculptures for our more discerning listeners). Of course you know of some of the more famous examples of this like Stonehenge and the stone sculptures on Easter Island. Today we explore two such examples you may not be aware of that are shrouded in mystery. For those who ...

Just when you thought the schools were safe

My god can you believe what's happening at our schools?? It's out of this world! And by that of course I mean the kids are seeing UFOs. Come with us as we look at our tinier, less cultured, and certainly less educated (sorry to those of you in our audience yet to complete the 6th grade). Come with us as we look at mass UFO sightings seen at schools. Our first stop is in Westall, Australia where a UFO is spotted landing and then taking off from a school yard during school hours in the 1960's. We ...

A calendar is worth 300 years

Have you ever thought the years since 2020 have been pretty lackluster (to say the least) and yearn to escape to a different time??? Then boy do I have a conspiracy theory for you. What if we actually live in the year 1725. Let me introduce you to the phantom time hypothesis. That roughly 300 years between 600 and 900 AD only occurred on paper. There is a lot to this theory, we have to get you caught up on calendars and boy did you not even know you were behind... But you are so this is why we d...

Power grids are f****d yo

In a continuation of last weeks episode we are talking about power. This week specifically the many weaknesses our infrastructure for moving power has. This is the stuff we know and others know is integral to our society and we just let it sit everywhere just like... there... mostly unprotected... China knows it, Russia also, people with drones and white supremacists too. Hell the US targets this stuff abroad when they go and war there. So what are these weaknesses I now say you ask me well it c...

Powerplants are f****d yo

Well what with the Russian invasion of Ukraine there certainly is a lot going on in the world and we have handcuffed ourselves confining this podcast to fringe topics. Well there's fringe parts of international conflicts too! Let's talk about vulnerabilities in our own back yard. Power, ever heard of it? It's what the astronauts use! And like the astronauts, this mighty electron transfer known as power creation is as vulnerable as a metaphor (see it should have been a simile but those guys are w...

Do you ever think about leaping great distance to be able to slap your enemies only to leap away with such ferocity they are unable to raise a counter attack?? First off weird that someone else had this thought but welcome to your new folk hero the infamous Spring Heeled Jack, the terror that turned faces red with handprints at the mere uttering of his name. Spirals in the sky, or is it a new messiah????

Today we take a trip to a phenomenon which occurred in this millennia!! An event commonly known as the Norway Spiral. A grouping of streaks of light forming a corkscrew like shape over the skies of Norway in 2009 and vanishing just as mysteriously as it arrived. What was it? has it been seen before or again? let's take a listen and see if there's a good answer. We also took the time to lay out Project Blue Beam, a very common conspiracy that seems to show it's head when you least expect it. We t...

A History of Violent Strikes

There's a funny thing about history. It's subjective, some would say written by the winners. Well that probably means there's some things that happened that are fringe. Legally that means we can cover it (Law of Fringe RSBC 1498. c 3000)! The spot where this is most relevant for this episode is workers strikes. They get bloody, trains get tipped, roundhouses get... well nothing actually happens to the roundhouses but I think the point got across. Today we are going to look at three historical st...

Lesser known genocides

Today we discussed genocides (let's just rip that bandaid off). Humans have been doing these for eons and are unfortunately likely to continue to do so into the future. So we thought it would be worth our time to discuss some of these historical events that may not be as well known as they should be. We look at the Qing genocide of the Dzungars in 1757, the Hatian genocide of 1904 and the Indonesian massacre of 1965. There is a lot to unpack in all of these and I think it's best if I just let yo...

It's about time...slips

Time is one hell of a concept, one day you got milk and then well either spoiled milk or the making of a good cheese depending on how you want to look at it. A linear flow from A to B then we can assume C. Well sometimes time doesn't want to flow so fluidly. Today we discuss those times. Listen as we discuss cases of individuals who believe they have slipped through the curtain to times immemorial. We also discuss similar themes found within folklore and paranormal encounters. Throw this on and ...

Below deck on the cruise industry

Cruise sure look like the life, beautiful locales, new adventures, friendly staff, food and drinks as far as the eye can see and all at a family friendly price. What if I told you that this is a public image that has been carefully crafted by PR specialist to sell an industry that at best is ethically and morally corrupt (in our opinion... gotta be careful throwing words around like that). Operation Paperclip - Nazis to the Moon!

Hey it's a new year and a chance to better ourselves with some fringe knowledge! Today we look at World War 2 (WW2 for those in a hurry) and the rush to remove Nazi scientists from their natural habitat and relocate them to a better eco-system where they could thrive as a species. This is known as Operation Paperclip and it is a very real thing that happened (for real!). We look first at the political climate that set this operation up and then at the dirty details. After a year of covering some current events we were bound to need to come back to some of our stories. So why not end the year with it? This is a compilation of all the stories that interrupt your morning quiet contemplation while old episodes of All In the Family play in the background and your morning strudel heals from the trauma that is the oven just enough to be enjoyable in an ethical way should it one day spontaneously develop sentience. The X(mas) Files: Claus Encounters

What would Christmas be if not for the jolly red suited wizard we hail as Santa Claus. Probably more religious that's for sure. Although many heard tales around the playground about a friend who "totally saw him" or had a dad who was friends with him, he's always been a pretty ellusive character. Has anybody actually seen the guy? Well what if I were to tell you there is deep lore in the subject that can fill up at least * looks down at show notes * 40 minutes of air time? Today we look at the hidden folk working in Santa's workshop. Sure they may just be salve labour, but maybe there's more! Sit back and listen to the cultural history of elves that plays into the lore of Christmas. Where does this come from? Did we breed them for their luxurious leather used in Santa's suspenders? God I hope not but I can't confirm here, guess you'll have to listen. In the intro we discuss the school shooting in Michigan where the shooter's parents have been charged and also a bo...

To round out Europe we look at Scandinavian traditions of sketchy dwarves with porridge requirements and flaming goats that you most defi...

Chicago has a moth problem

Mothman, as made famous by John Keel, has been predominantly put forth with several known facts: It's strongly associated Point Pleasant, It's mothlike, and It's male in features. But what if we were to tell you this is all the above is a lie? In this episode we look at the lesser known but far more pervasive "mothman" sightings of the Chicago area. They span a larger time period, have far more dramatic sightings, but also bring into question the very name of this cryptid. Is it really mothlike?...
