Joyce Sutphen is an American poet and currently a Professor of English at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter Minnesota. She has published four poetry collections, the first Straight Out of View, won the Barnard Women’s Poets Prize, and a subsequent collection won the Minnesota Book Award. She was named Minnesota’s Poet Laureate in 2011 and has received a McKnight Artist Fellowship and a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship.
