You're listening to the Journal Party Podcast where every week we get together for the ultimate journal jam sesh as we journal through life together as a community. My name's Alex Gallner and I'll be your host, so here's how it works. I'll give you a journal prompt and a groove and you just start writing. After a few minutes, you'll hear a little bell that sounds like this and we'll move on to the next prompt.
After a couple minutes, you'll hear that bell again, and we'll move on to the next prompt, and we'll just keep going on like that till we're finished. Feel free to write on whatever you like, or even just follow along in your car. If you finish before the bell, you can try to dig deeper and elaborate, or just chill out and enjoy the tunes. Don't overthink it. There's no wrong way to do this. So, welcome to the party. Journal Party. What's up party people?
Welcome back to another episode of the Journal Party Podcast. I'm your host, Alex Gellner, and today we're diving deep into a topic that many of us struggle with, overcoming negative beliefs. Whether it's that little voice in your head telling you you're not good enough, or past experiences that have shaped how you see yourself, we all have them. But guess what? Today, we're going to tackle those head on and start rewriting those narratives.
Today, we're gonna be jamming through five journal prompts to help you to overcome negative beliefs. So, open up that journal, and let's get this party started. Here comes prompt number one. Identify your negative beliefs. Write down any negative beliefs you hold about yourself. These could be thoughts like, I'm not smart enough, I'll never be successful, or I'm unlovable. Be honest and don't censor yourself. Get ready for prompt number two. Explore the origin.
Look at each negative belief you've listed. Write about where you think each one came from. Did someone tell you this? Did a specific experience make you feel this way? Write about it. Here comes prompt number three. Challenge the belief. For each negative belief, Write down evidence that contradicts it. For example, if you believe I'm not smart enough, list accomplishments or times you've successfully learned something new. Here comes prompt number four. Rewrite the narrative.
Rewrite each negative belief into a positive empowering statement. Instead of, I'll never be successful, try, I have the skills and determination to succeed. Something like that. And last but not least, here comes prompt number five. Action steps. Write down at least three actionable steps you can take to reinforce your new positive beliefs. This could be learning a new skill, practicing self care, or seeking support from friends or a therapist. Awesome job, everyone!
You've just taken powerful steps toward overcoming those negative beliefs. Remember, it's a journey, and every little step counts. Keep revisiting these prompts whenever you need to, and watch how your mindset begins to shift over time.
