You're listening to the Journal Party podcast, where every week we get together for the ultimate journal jam sesh as we journal through life together as a community. My name's Alex Gallner and I'll be your host, so here's how it works. I'll give you a journal prompt in a groove and you just start writing. After a few minutes, you'll hear a little bell that sounds like this, and we'll move on to the next prompt.
After a couple minutes, you'll hear that bell again, and we'll move on to the next prompt, and we'll just keep going on like that till we're finished. Feel free to write on whatever you like, or even just follow along in your car. If you finish before the bell, you can try to dig deeper and elaborate, or just chill out and enjoy the tunes. Don't overthink it. There's no wrong way to do this. So, welcome to the party. What's up, party people?
Welcome back to another episode of the Journal Party Podcast, where we turn introspection into a celebration. I'm your host, Alex Gellner, and today we're diving deep into a topic that touches every aspect of our lives, money. Lately, I've been on a journey of deep emotional exploration, and I've realized that for many of us, our relationship with money is rooted in deep emotional ties that can trace back to our childhoods.
For me, I had a more privileged upbringing than many, but that didn't mean that I was unaffected by the constant tension around finances. Watching my parents argue about money, despite our relative financial security, shaped my perceptions of wealth and successes in ways that I didn't fully understand until I started looking a little bit more closely. While I had a roof over my head, food to eat, clothes on my back, and I'm deeply grateful for that.
Those arguments planted seeds of doubt and confusion about my self worth and what truly matters in my life. And it's easy to start valuing the wrong things or to undervalue the things that are truly important, leaving us feeling empty and, ironically, anything but wealthy. So, I thought we could journal about that. That's why today we're going to be jamming through five journal prompts to help you to explore and redefine your relationship with money.
So go ahead and open up that journal and let's get this party started. Here comes prompt number one. Reflect on your earliest memory involving money. What happened? How did it make you feel? How do you think this memory has shaped your current relationship with money? Prompt number two. Think about a time when you felt financially stressed. What were the circumstances? How did you cope with that stress? What did you learn from the experience? Uh huh. Prompt number three.
Consider the messages about money you received from your family growing up. Were they positive or negative? How have these messages influenced your financial decisions and self worth? Prompt number four, identify an aspect of your relationship with money that you feel needs healing or improvement. What steps can you take to begin this healing process? What steps can you take to begin this healing process? Prompt number five. Envision your ideal relationship with money. What does it look like?
How do you feel in this ideal state? What changes do you need to make to move closer to this vision? Alright, great job party people. Money can be a tricky and emotional subject, but taking the time to examine our beliefs and experiences around it is a crucial step towards financial health and emotional well being. Remember, your worth is not determined by your bank balance. It's about understanding what truly matters to you and aligning your financial life with those values.
