'whiskey, and why did she go'

this, shimmering and virginal, 

is where you are found

reality implores, so you smooth

jesus from the label while

sucking vengefully at the viper

is it karma acted upon or

simply perspective from a duller view

your beaded smile rehearses a fatal calm

how attractive gods must be in slumber,

far from judging, an ancient quiet

screaming between your ears

and you are the perpetual joke

birthed from the machine

but you love…you, incapable of undermining

what the next passing second holds

devils’ tears wet your face tonight

while clairvoyance uncoils the tongue;

jesus keeps curling from under your fingertips

and he is flawed.
