learning to show you my bruises too

‘learning to show you my bruises too’

sometimes it’s just one thing

that sends the insecure boy scrambling

for hidden meaning, for deeper meaning,

so scared you’ll say

it’s time for you to go home. 

sometimes the man smiles

while the boy stands in tears.
