Intro / Opening

Chris Andrew. They got the neck spotting talent. They stay on track, home run hitters, fielding stars, finding prospects near and plum jt up with Chris Andrew finding the stars. It's what they do. Overlook prospects cover future legends for you to roster. Welcome to the JTR thirty monthly update. We back in episode thirty eight, Chris and I presented our picks for the most overlooked prospect in each organization. Our rough measurement for overlook status is if a

player is rostered in fewer than twenty percent of fan tracks leagues. Each month, any prospect that has hit that twenty percent rostered mark, and we do reserve the right to round up when we're looking at those numbers, well that player to there we see you list and find a new overlook prospect to take his place. Conversely, if we decide we might have missed the mark, we may move a prospect to the nothing to see here list and find a

new prospect to replace him as well. Each month we'll put out these brief mini episodes letting you know who we're moving off and who's taking his place. We're also going to pick one of our holdovers and provide an update on how he's doing. If you want to see the full list that indicates which episode we first talked about each prospect, check out the Dinisty Guru website. We're

I'll be publishing the fully updated list each month. In one quick note, there won't be any randomly inserted obscure song titles in the JT thirty updates. I hope that's not too disappointing for you. Chris wants to take it away. Who are you bringing into the GTR thirty this month? Yeah? Well, first, before I welcome in my new person, I do want to

Jacob Melton

send Jacob Melton off with a fond farewheill. He was my Houston astro prospect that I thought was underranked, and I still think he has overlooked, under ranked, overlooked, although I've seen him sneaking into some top one hundred lists, but he's still like around twenty percent rostered, which is surprising since in fan tracks, since it's such a Dynasty heavy program, I guess or website.

But he's keeping those k rate gains in in check. That was his biggest concern, and he's getting those combo meals he's got five homers and seven for nine on the base paths. So he is doing awesome and I wish him well as he leaves our JTR thirty list. But that makes room, as you said, for Zach Cole Junior, another outfielder in the Houston system

Zach Cole Jr.

who's got the tools that gets you the counting stats, and like other outfielders in the Houston system, his batball skills are kind of going to be the deciding factor to his fan to see relevance for us. Zach Cole, I think is actually how he is found in fan grass. But Zach Cole Junior in fan tracks was a twenty two draft pick out of ball State Missouri Valley Conference. For those of you who follow I went to an arrival Missouri Valley

Conference school, So okay. Anyway, he's you know, he's built again, much like many other in the Houston has a type. He's six foot two, two hundred pounds. I think he looks a little bit lankier than that in my opinion, but he's got room to add more. Kind of reminds me of a little bit shorter Kyle Tucker. Not the hitd tool, of course, but at least appearance was he was solid last year, nineteen

homers, thirty seven stolen bases between Hya or Loway and Hia. He's just starting to play though this year he hasn't gotten into any game, well, any meaningful games. He's been playing some conflict complex. Wow part of me as he's rehabbing a hamstring injury. So he's been mashing the ball in those four games seven to fourteen slug but he's also struck out in seven of his sixteen played appearances, so he's you know, I didn't write down his roster

percentage. I want to say it's around like four percent right now, which for someone who could jump up once he starts playing, probably at double A this year, Zach Cole, I'm surprised. At four percent is all that he's rostered currently. I you're going to be more surprised. I just looked him up. It's at one percent. Oh wow, that's a great you. Yeah. So, I mean, I think it's just because people are

kind of weary with Houston outfielders. You know, outside of Talker, there's really been no one that they've developed of note that it is consistently good. You have Chas McCormick, you know, and he's probably the best, but for me, it just kind of feels like, you know, prospect fatigue of Houston outfielders is kind of a thing. You're right, they have a type and he fits right in that type. But yeah, yeah, it's so good, and that'll be a fun one to watch. I have.

I've actually got three changes, and it's more than I intended, and I hope I'm not overreacting too soon to some slow starts. But all three were players who I thought were kind of risky to include in the first time, so I don't have a whole lot of problem moving them off. But I'm going to start in the Saint Louis organization where I had one been show in there, and I'm gonna he continues to struggle at high A, I'm going to move him to my nothing to see here list and bringing in the Cardinals

pitching prospect Zach Showalter. No relation to Buck Showalter. Zach was drafted out

Zack Showalter

of high school in the eleventh round of the twenty twenty two draft by Baltimore and traded over to Saint Louis last year. In his second year as a pro this year, he's only given up one home run as a professional this year in low Ay, He's got a thirty eight k rate at a nine percent walk rate. Fastball slider combination could be a reliever risk unless he develops

a third pitch, so that's something to keep an eye on. But Zach Showalter is my new pick for the overlook prospect at three percent rostered in fan tracks currently. You know, I just tried trading the way Zack Showalter in a deep league for him. I got denied for Maser. I tried sending Showalter and Johnny Farmelo thought some hype with Farmelo would ride the hype. But uh huh, sorry, that's my two cents of Zach' Showalter, So you

do have him rostered? I do, I do. I am part of the three three percent not that classy and then moving out of the Pittsburgh organization and I'm having trouble there. But I did find a picture there who I think I want to talk about. But first I had Mitch Jebb in there.

Mitch Jebb

Uh Mitch had a little little uh helium around him at during spring training. But he's just getting off to a very poor start two three nineteen slash line, so I'm going to move off of him. And hope he turns it around, but right now, for now, I'm I'm going to move him off the list and bring in a Hunter Barco. Hunter Barco was also

Hunter Barco

drafted in the twenty twenty two draft, second round pick out of the University of Florida. A six foot four left handed pitcher with right now thirty k rate and a seven percent walk rate in a one eighty two batting average against.

And he's playing in a high a three pitches fastball, slider and change and slightly above average control and interesting note, he had Tommy John at the end of his college career, so he was drafted, was in rehab and just now is kind of ramping up, so a little bit behind in terms of age to level, but seems to be healthy in that category of already had my tj In, a big left hander who has been throwing strikes and

throwing them well. So he's rostered in five percent of the leagues. And if you're somebody who likes to stockpile pitchers, he maybe somebody want to either stash or definitely put on your watch list. I think he's going to be he's got the profile. Somebody's going to kind of move up and with those three pitches in the control likely to stay in starting as a starter. And my third and final change is in the Arizona organization where I had a wildered

Wilderd Patino

Patino again slow start to twenty four to seventy one, three thirteen slash line. And I'm surprised that Andre's Shaparro is only a rostered in eight percent of

Andres Chapparo

leagues. He's a short third baseman who came up in the Yankee system and got a lot of talk not this previous year, but the year before as somebody who coming up along with Volpi and some others, that you know, wherever the Yankee is going to find the place for him is going to be knocking on the door, and just didn't didn't really get a whole lot of attention last year in trip La somebody who started in the Yankee system as a

seventeen year old back in twenty sixteen. So one of those guys where it seems like he's been around forever and maybe there is some prospect fatigue, and I think we talked about that in our last episode about somebody else, Chris. But what we have years still twenty five years old in Triple A, which is perfectly appropriate for the level with a three forty four, four thirty

six, five ninety seven slash line with nine home runs. And he hit twenty five home runs in Triple A's for the Yankees last year, so it's not like he's coming off a bad year. See, I don't know why his name fell off the radar. I don't know why he's only ranked in eight percent. So I had my two when I came across this name and thought, I need to add a third this week and talk about Shaparo and hopefully get people's attention on him and at third base. I don't think there's

a whole lot in front of him in the Diamondbacks. A big fan of Gino Suarez, but he has a knack for not staying healthy. And if not this year, I think next year Shaparo could get a break, a chance to break into that lineup there. Well, the only one I would say is Davey Delos Santos, because he's back in there. I think, or is he a double A or is he a double A? He might be a double A. I think he's at double A now, but he's

playing very well. Yeah, So that's a really good point and I think technically he's got to be on the forty Man too, if I understand how that whole deal works. But yes, Farrow, he did kind of just disappear for reasons unknown to me too, East coast bias. Yeah, so those are the changes we had before we signed off on the on the mini episode, anybody in your list, you just want to kind of point out that, uh, you know you're happy with what they're doing so far?

Well, yeah, what was your New Year's resolution? True? My New years resolution? I'm staying on topic, I promise, uh, you know, aside from losing weight and uh, it's okay not drafting Rose Martinez. What was yours? Well? Mine, I didn't make one. I don't make one. But Zebi Matthews my overlooked prospect for the Minnesota Twins. I'm

Zebby Matthews

pretty sure his was to not throw a or not walk a batter, not throw a ball, not walk a batter in twenty twenty four, because that is how he has started his twenty twenty four season, and he is starting

to fly. I've seen him on Twitter, I've seen him in you know, different patreons or whatnot that I subscribe to more and more heat, hope I look this morning, he's still only rostered in ten percent of leagues, and that is surprising to me. I believe when we first talked about him, I was like, you know, if he doesn't strike anyone out and he's you know, he loses that command as he gets into the upper levels,

he might be quick off my list. Well, he's striking out eleven and a half nine and his two games at double A right over eleven at to start the season at high A. Hasn't walked a better like I talked about. He's doing the exact opposite of what I was fearing. So if you play in the ninety percent of leagues where he is not right rostered, should change that quick quick? Make him graduate off my list. I'm trying to help you out, but he's he is rostered in most of the leagues

that I'm in as well. Yeah, so I must listen to our podcast sometimes to my chagrin. Have you any positives on your own? A few? But I want to talk a little bit about Nico Porca Grego, who

Nikau Pouaka-Grego

is in the Philadelphia system. And he is, I say, the nineteen year old who's playing at the low A hit in three thirty three one. Doesn't have the home runs yet, but quite a few doubles. He's getting on base. It's kind of fifty grade speed, but hasn't stolen any bases yet. But he's on a currently enough six game hitting streak. He's had five multi hit games over the season, and just putting the bat on the

ball, and I'm really kind of happy to see what he's doing. He's got a this guy's give him a seventy grade hit tool and he for a future grade on the hit tool, and he is starting to show why he is not a big guys five to nine, one seventy five. So I don't think the power is ever going to be overwhelming, but if he continues to put the bat on the ball and get on base, I think he's

going to continue to provide some value. So for a little little if he kind of putting him on there, especially when I took off Gabriel Ring Colin Junior, who is hitting very well, and it may have been too quick to move him off, but I am happy with withn Eko there in instead.

So that's part of the fun here, is identifying people and having the humility to say I might have given up on this guy too soon or jumped on this other guy too early, But that's part of the fun of what we do and part of the fun of the jt R thirty I think thank you all right. Well, as promised, this one is just a mini

episode, a quick quick update for you. The full chart is on the Dynasty Guru website, so you can go on there and find the article and see not only the chart but who who we've moved off for various reasons as it grows, And like I said, there'd be a quick note next each name letting you know what episode to go back and listen to to hear a deeper explanation of you know why we think each of these players are are overlooked

and and need to be rostered in your leagues. So good luck with everybody, and we will see you next week when we come back with our full episode. We're talking about outfielders and catcher ranking, So Chris take care of keep an eye on the prize and everybody else. Thank you for your time.
