You're listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review. What a bizarre thing we've created. Now with your host, Adam Thorn. One, go. Enjoy the show.

Hey guys, and welcome back to another episode of the J-R-E review. I am Adam joined as always and this week by Peter. Hello there. How's it going? Hello, Peter. Yes. Apologies again for the sound quality last week. Yeah. Disgusting. I'd be disgusted too. We fixed it. Sometimes it pops up and it does that and it's rare, but my God. Barely listening. It's upsetting. That's me. We make a barely listable thing anyway. So we have at least one job we can do while which is the audio quality.

Can't even do that. It's post COVID age. You have to stand your toes out there. You might be in a little bunker. Adam's a deep in the deserts of Texas deep underground. I'm in a mountain. I'm in a deep far deep in a mountain. It's just all I hear all days is just the sound of some drip somewhere. Drugs are me insane. A lot of wind down there. And then I listen to Rogan's. It could be worse. It could be China. It could be over there in Venezuela, right? It could be Ohio. Oh, no. No, I don't know.

No, I don't know. All right, who got this week? We got Adam a sound, but that's a surprise. What a great guest. And then we're going to we're going to cover good old Dennis quay, I think. That's an unusual one. I wouldn't have thought him being on there either. But I knew I knew Rogan's known Adam for

a long time, which again, is like kind of surprising why he'd never been on. I guess you know, Adam's just big big deal and why would he need to and but it was cool to hear about the friendship and actually how kind of well they have known each other and how long the time together goes back. It's I can guess why he's on there. Joe's reaches the most people out of any sort form of media ever existed, I think. Well, I get it. You want to sell a book? Yeah, I get it. That makes sense.

Or was it a movie? It was a movie. He's got a new line of candles. No, it's comedy special titled Love You. There we go. There we go. Yeah, I haven't seen a comedy special from Adam Sandlin a while. There was one. I don't know. Maybe a couple of years ago. And I think he's like playing music where they're kind of that old style of his, but I don't know if you remember back in the 90s, he had I had some of his comedy CDs. That was all there was. And man, did he have some legendary bits?

Just the little skits. I mean, they were just like skits. They weren't even like stand up. It was just like the Hanukkah song and the go him doing like hit like old Jewish aunties, Policies, you're a hackenbals. Oh, yeah. That was, yeah, just the best or the goat. There's a goat. Yeah, he's got to check it out. It's so good. So many great ones. It's probably very silly today, but back then, I mean, you know, I was 16 easily impressed, but it was some of the funniest stuff for sure.

And what a life he's lived like incredible. I mean you talk about those people that have had Really fortunate lives and incredible things happen to them and I mean, you know, Rogan is obviously one of them You know from a young age making good money doing what he loved Yeah, it sounds like Sandler even younger. I mean imagine being on on SNL like 22 Well, yeah, I can't do it. That's what I'm doing. I'm saying

I'm gonna go. Oh, take your stuff. I would have been dead like like any one of the other people Oh, finally got famous blue sheet. Yeah, the Lucy. Yeah, who else did that? Is the like the curse of SNL for some people? Yeah, got a burn the candle. Sure. I know that pricing that some of those guys made it out of that well so many have

Adam was particularly driven when he was a young lad. He admits to not being the most funny or talented person But he is the most driven seemed like he's very very driven Oh for sure, and I mean Once he made I mean some you know, Folly was probably the biggest up until his death, but I mean Billy Madison happy Gilmore. I mean they shot Adam Sandler right into first place I would say he's he makes a funny movie

He can make some funny movies and some really weird ones. That's true. I'd never want to see again But then also around that time I mean Mike Myers was crushing it with some of his movies and once he got to Austin powers I mean he he really should have never stopped doing those Austin powers movies. He should have just done those forever Made one every like three years That would have been okay for me Didn't he do what was the one he did that was just Ridiculous the guru or something. Oh

Yeah, the love the love guru was it. Yeah, so it did not hit the way that they were hoping for sure I tried and I tried to watch it and it was like Ah, it's not good But I do like his so I married an axe murderer That's a classic is a classic. That's where he got the voice for That bastard his dad Mm-hmm paper down paper down very very very funny. Yeah He must have had like a Scottish Dad or uncle or something. I mean he has that down almost too well Yeah, really really

Yeah, so San Verzonesa now is 22. He's crushing it. It feels like an imposter because he's like, you know I can't really write. I don't know how good I am acting. We'll see Um, I don't really remember if he stood out too hard during SNL, but saying that kind of mic mice really didn't either You know back then it was like again folly Dana Kavi was was really talented on SNL

David spade there at the same time. Yeah spade was spade didn't stand out Too much on the skits either But again, it kind of doesn't matter because you're around such Genius people that it's really only a matter of time before you know you you find your people you're like working with and You just get to where movies Yeah, I mean David spades made some great ones too. I mean Joe did it was legendary Yes, all the people all the people to play like a

Dude with a mullet who is a real hillbilly. I mean the fact that it was David's I mean he couldn't be less alike that character And he made he's very Dating of a human he doesn't he won't yeah, he's not rough and tumble. He doesn't like to get dirty No, no, he doesn't he's quite sophisticated. I do like that. We lad though. He's he's a seems to be like a good guy He's great. He's great. Yeah Yeah Yeah, so new special coming out Love you

Gonna be interesting to see when is it August 27th. Okay, so we've got oh five days Five days. Yeah, I'd like to see it hit it be interesting It's you know, he took a lot of time off stand-up. So I Don't know and I think his style is is a little different than Then then most comedians too. So it might be a bit of an acquired taste, but from for me I've I'm not I don't think I'm a I don't like and enjoy his standup in the past

So I wonder how it'll hit me. I think he's like Not a big fan of the slapsticky kind of shibba to do

Right kind of it is twigging away on his guitar. Yeah, and it's like his comedy writing is great Yeah, because he kind of did that like baby voice thing This podcast is brought to you by Draft Kings Casino in a world of slot reels and blackjack deals Comes the must-play event of the summer from Draft Kings Casino featuring non-stop action and all star cast of games Including a list of Loki's luck this summer blockbuster is one you won't want to miss plus new players can get

Nothing else probably do a good one. It's got a good rabbi No doubt Hmm speaking of rabbis Don't mess with the zohan is Otis called oh, yeah That's that's a pretty silly movie. It's very silly. I like to I do like it. Yeah

Isn't that one bit where he's like swimming like a superhero? He's so strong and is like a very very like non-American underwear He's like bull riding it almost But not quite No, yeah, they talked about the Chris rock will Smith slap um you could tell Adam I don't want to say his very Hollywood because I don't mean it like that but he's diplomatic

He was like it's a bad time. It was a bad thing But he didn't really rag on um Will Smith too bad, you know Joe wanted to I think Joe gives less of a fuck But um You know just to kind of still hear that people think about that and it's a thing and it was never really kind of fully addressed I mean, it's just interesting it happened like to say it just blew over and that's finished. Did it? As it like where where are we with that? It will Smith just moved on, but is it like What does it mean?

I'll tell you what it means for me things like the golden glows and the Oscars of Who's watching him? Once you rickety based stop doing the golden glows forget about it That's those are the only times I read I do reruns of those golden glows Yeah, well rickety of ace one They did comedy specials on there for the first time and he won No, no surprise his Comedy's amazing and he sells out world tools like instantly

Um, but they had a comedian. I can't remember his name hosting that year and it was just um, it was a bomb factory Was that uh co Joe he was the he's the Filipino Filipino gentleman. I think so yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was terrible It was so bad. Did you watch some of it? I was trying to watch some of it today and it's is a scrubbed

It was I don't know I didn't find a lot of it. I was trying to find Ricky speech when he won And I bet he didn't even go I bet he was just in London probably just like thanks he's down the pub And somebody's recorded it on on their cell phone. He's like yeah, thanks a lot cheers. You guys are great He just like throws the trophy behind him and up in a pile of trophies He's Yeah, he starts trying to vlog his vodka everybody Dutch barn get it Did it kill you

That's his his Dutch barn vodka commercial said he does are legendary. They're so funny So you have in welcome. Yeah, in one. He's like talking to a doctor And he's just like Yeah, so tell him about the warnings And they just basically talk about all the things that are bad about alcohol And he's like oh, yeah, that is bad. Oh, that's pretty bad. And then they just end it and go Okay, well Dutch barn buy it Why a Dutch barn is that like synonymous with like backcountry hooch over there?

I don't really know. I mean especially because it's like a made in England vodka made of apples supposedly Oh English in your apples We love it We're all about it But as well have a cider while you're out I don't Gotta do it. You gotta do it. They talked a little bit about health and fitness. I think I think that Adam brought it up Maybe just because he's like staring across the table from a super jack dude and he's like what?

That's possible. He looks like a baby gorilla Yeah, but it didn't sound like he was too keen To get into it and start getting jacked He kept saying he plays a lot of b ball And he noticed means shooting hoops with your daughters isn't really it's not really gonna get you No, I think he I think he hits the courts, dude. I heard he's the play Often with the with guys down in vannis and some other spots around Um, like legit like he'd just show up like one of the guys and play play some hoops

I mean, that's not bad in your 50s. He's probably just shoots up three is at this point, but I think he like gets me in this some street some res ball where you like throws throws bows at you Just powering in to the hoop. He takes it to the the whole every time Unlike me the rock. Give it the rock. Give it the rock. He's a big big pass See a lot of bounce pass a lot of bounce pass a lot of bounce pass a

Yeah, he's got a bad shoulder. He's taking it easy God, dude doesn't Right, you need to you need to for sure Adam Sandler. I mean, what would you say really he's Done movie wise in the last 10 years. I mean he's done some

Mortimer mystery type movies. He's hasn't he not just all comedy murder mystery murder mystery What one of two one is one is pretty good A rob Schneider almost ruins it as always in every movie that rob Schneiders and he if he doesn't ruin it he almost ruins it Then there's my personal favorite is hunts trunk love which is about 20 years old now really Yeah, yeah, it's with he's more Hoffman. It's good. Oh, that's cool. Yeah, I beat down a watch that

That's a good date night movie. You should watch that with your lady I will I'll consider it But the murder mysteries and having having rob Schneider and I mean would he Be in anything ever if it wasn't for Adam. I mean, I don't want to back on him too much But he was he was also an snl but he's pretty much hard to work with and

Uh, he's Adam Sandler has like helped his career David Spades career. He just next Schwarzenen He lifted all these people up and for sure borderline maybe half of them didn't really deserve it, you know Yeah, I'm big fan of Nick though. I like it. He's great. He was great in Reno He's a gay roleable. It was always committing crimes He's a great standup comedian. He's very funny. He's standup is excellent I've seen him a few times with a comedy store and he's just so casual so likable and

Just fucking hilarious. I mean, he's very very good He's a good example of someone that's put the time in and it's just like You know for whatever kind of level of like selling out Whatever he can do you know It's not always a reflection of like how good they are right. I mean he definitely can headline Um, I'm just saying I don't know how big of a place he sells out

But his comedy is just superb. I mean, it's effortless You know, he's definitely plays a great frat frat boy vibe Uh Yeah, he's very silly character for sure Very very silly character. He's he's great on um the other podcast. I've listened to him on two So talk about neck. He's

He's with it. Hey Yeah, he was um Theo not that long ago and uh He was I know it was mostly playful but also because like Brennan Sharp Is easy to pick on at the moment in on the internet so they were they were giving him a hard time He's ending up a lot of CTE and And that's just pretending They didn't know you pretending they didn't know how to say his last name. They were like is it shrewd And then it's swab

But uh yeah, he's a he's a superb shit talker on podcasts. I mean you be hot pressed to get one over on him He will get you and he he will derail you for the podcast for sure. I got I'd love to have a drink with that guy or ten Yeah talking about I mean people like how Sick would it be to hang out with Adam Sama?

That's l i b s y n ads.com Do you think he gets after it anymore? Is he party? I don't know. I don't know. I bet he I bet he have a few cocktails

It's just civilized drinks. Yeah, I think I think he'd be down. I think he'd just be genuinely cool. He just seems very nice You know, he never seems like to full of himself. There's not like TZ You know clips out there of him pushing away reporters or slapping on people There's no you know, drug and a rants or anything. It's good. No, yeah, I like him Yeah, let's get on. Let's let's talk to that. Let's get the guy on the phone

This is gonna pop up. He's like I'm not taking your calls. Not doing it. Did you see him? I did you see him on uh Uh What's that what's Brett Brett the monster's podcast name says Gosh, I forgot his name which one the monsters Yeah, the mom is he's called the monster or special is He's a comedian and he always takes a shirt off Oh god, his name The old birdcrush. Yeah, the machine machine dude. Yeah, the machine

Let me get started with Adam Sam was on with the crush it. Yeah, he called into his podcast and And he just asked him the drunkest questions and was just really weird and he weirded Adam out No shit Yeah, Adam was like yeah, next question stupid question like So so wait Adam or has his own podcast though he was just So he called into birds podcast. Oh, I gotcha video code. I think I think but bless him. He's pretty awkward sometimes

Especially people are very drunk on his podcast. He was very drunk. Yeah, oh dear Come on man. Got a job. You got a drink while you're doing the podcast not before the podcast Exactly dude just get slowly drunk and no one's listening at the end of the podcast anyway. That's when you're allowed to be drunk Gotcha, I better hurry up them Well, that's what they will pass out at the end of part the save our parks episodes It's like air is unconscious under the table growing up

Yeah, by the very end of it. It's literally just Shane Gillis talking because everyone else is too drunk And then it's just Shane talking to Jamie Yes That's that's the end of it. You know, I Those are hard to listen to all the way they're like three and a half four hours long. So oh, that's so good

Dude, I never miss a second of those. That's a sad my life is I see those come out and I'm like play my schedule I scrap all my doctors appointments anything I have doesn't matter can't wait to listen to those To the best ones and then I can't even review them because they're chaos

You're just a point talking about shit jokes Yes The whole time I mean there would be a way and I've thought about it would be like just reiterating a bunch of like really good clips from that that would that would probably be a good way of doing it But a little clip show about it Yeah, you'd have do something like that. I think it could be done I could be done. All right, so Adam Sandler legend watch his comedy special August 28th

Hopefully, it's good. All right, let's jump over to Dennis Quague Um, yeah, Dennis come out did some classic movies back in the day Joel's three I especially saw him in Santa Fe 2007 No shit and he talks about being getting out of a a rather you know out of rehab in the 90s And the didn't this quit I saw looked pretty hungover Oh And I see that because I was also very hungover that as a delivery driver I was hungover as well So our red eyes locked across a parking lot. He was in this like

Like black Yukon. I was like walking down the delivery ramp for a Cisco food truck Locked eyes of that guy And we both were like uh We are the same we're too drunk for this we're too hungover for this Oh, well, you know, I think he's been in and out of rehab. So maybe you call it him I'm on his side down. He seems like before he went back in normal normal dude really Yeah, I was kind of surprised to hear like he's a country gospel singer and

And you know has some songs there. I mean that's a choice. I You know wouldn't have put together with him, but you know Well, when you just know someone is an actor you you you're just making a lot of assumptions about who they are And we really have no idea like A lot of them have bands and are into Music and bit gospel was was not what thing I guess If I was giving you guess some sort of like Bruce Willis style harmonic rock smooth smooth jazz

For Dennis. Yeah No vocal no vocals just do them on a best soon Just looking cool on stage just I don't know why yeah Trying to put it in your way written keys on the horns As they say yep, mm-hmm Yeah, I wouldn't have put that together, but he loves it and it's coming out with a new song and he's pondering up with some some Pretty famous people which is quite interesting. So see how that goes Um, he talked a bit about his career, you know, just basically early on starting in Hollywood

It was funny how he put it together. He's like hey, I wanted to be a veterinarian, but then I saw a horse get his Balls cut off and then I'm like I'm gonna be an actor Yeah, I don't know if you just get to say I'm gonna be an actor is like what your fallback plan and now you're An A was a seven it was the 70s. You could do that kind of thing. Yeah, so what was his brother was an actor? And he just was like I could do it. I went to drama school. So you know the Randy Quaders?

Oh, yeah, of course I just put that together now and he's a true actor Hmm It's it goes Sir Richard Harris Anthony Hopkins Randy Quaid There we go The level of cultural importance for for anyone Uh Dwayne the rock Johnson and then and then uh That chick from Jersey Shore Right Snuggie's gonna have close ears to his brother Um, good question. He didn't mention it except for that's where he he got an in over there because his brother was going to act to school and moved to LA

That's right. So he did too Yeah, I love those memes around the fourth of July when it shows him in his like Air Force Pilot gear From the movie Independence day and they're like never forget why you're Where you for your independence and it's just showing him like right before he crashes into the alien ship

God that's what I would do. I'm not I'm not gonna quit drinking towards the end of the world I'm gonna keep drinking and then fly a f-16 into the belly of the beast Yeah Think how I won't say efficiently you would fly it because that wouldn't be true but how boldly

Like it's never been flown like that before You mean all the wrong buttons being put Lend me you're down of course You eject yourself off the off the runway They're like man down Stuff's changed since I was flying those things in the war that's right

Well, it wasn't it though that he was just like spraying fields like how would you know how to do a fighter jet That seems like quite a lot different It's like you and I can drive a car, but if someone gave us a formula one vehicle I don't think we'd get very far

You overshoot the first corner by like a mile and a half and explode Yeah, yeah, it's good to know your limitations on stuff like that Yeah, yeah for sure But I think he was funny quite I think he flew him in like some war like the Nile maybe No, he was a former a former jet pilot that was washed out in some crop dusting Fair enough bad back story Complete what you were in the second movie so you should know Yeah, basically friends with him Did they hand you the script and you're like?

Hmm good script. I'm in I smacked it put my coffee down on it. I was like I'm in And they were like standby that door for only one seconds Exactly Exactly you see my work you've seen it. It's good. It's on your real I'm on IMDB. It's real good. Oh you on that? No, I'm not on there. Oh, I'm on DB for this really really yeah I'm for some reason it says I'm in the Adam Sandler movie click which I've never figured out go Google that Jamie get on that. That's my IMDB. It's real

Let's get I want to be on your IMDB. Hey, give me on there. You know I can't I didn't set it up People just do it. I don't know who does that. I wouldn't have done it. I don't care Well, I want on there

Well, you you're allowed anytime you want. Thank you very much. He's Talk to talk to the people All right, let's talk about his political views pretty quick So he just made the Reagan documentary which I want to see that sounds cool And he's feeling like he's getting some pushback from it because in the election year They don't want to big up Republicans Um, yeah, he seems pretty pretty conservative I would say Yeah, well, he's his voting record has been Democrat mostly

Right, but I mean now he sounds sounds like he's tied of it I guess it's the same thing. It's happened in Thomas everybody The I know that's sensible That they've stayed in the center and the left has moved so far to the left that we are now right Right And that's you know sad days Um, we say that the polls don't reflect the North and South Do the polls reflect That is close 50 50 Mm-hmm. Yeah, so and you know I guess I just choose to be friends with people that are accepting in reality

You think people are going the other direction though to like to live in out those numbers. Yeah Um sure. Yes, because they have to you know sign on particular parts of a party like say they like the Forward policy or like the LGBTQ movements so they have to sign up for the whole thing or nothing. Which is okay. You know, I get it That makes sense They're voting anti-something versus force something Yeah Yeah What what was I mean without any parts of what he was saying

Kind of when he was getting into his political ideas that didn't make sense. So you didn't care for I thought that well he didn't really go too hard in any crazy way. He really didn't Um, I thought that his approach to life seemed oddly Rounded out for a person who's been famous constantly for 40 years. It's good point I was like okay. He sounds like kind of like my My mildly conservative uncle Right

That also used to love cocaine. Oh, well, yeah, yes Mm-hmm put that on his IMDB He but he stopped that once you start would just stop backpacking across Australia You kind of straightened up after that. Oh, he was just backpacking too quickly or His calves were getting too big Yeah, huge Busted out of this capris. He didn't go around any mountain. He's like I'm going over it Is there any down there down under there's a reckon there's no mountains down under

No, I think he's ski down there. They have like one ski spot Self-hearing is doing yeah, I don't know about that not a skier. I don't know either I don't know pretty for sand down there. It's too hot. Well, you just don't want to be in the middle Yeah, the middle is bad Inhabitable you exactly exactly on it out of the wall All right, let's finish up with the AI technology business. What was your thoughts on that?

Everyone has to have their opinion now on AI even Dennis Quaid the actor Yeah, well, I guess they the problems with AI are the same that he had or the same ones we always talk about Joe always talks about Right who's programming it? It's inhuman. So won't have our same ethics or care about people People are byproduct It's not a person. So will it make the same choices when it comes to nuclear Armageddon?

Maybe not maybe it's like well, they're actually just a poison might as well get these people off the planet And it's too easy to think that it's just do what it's programmed to do But what if it's programmed to go Do you need to own decisions make it make it oh there's no fail sites Good point

Yeah, I mean That was the concern that they expressed is like there was more fear in that conversation with it instead of excitement You know Elon's not Holding on board with it being all good, you know, so what's what he's making his own one He knows about it more than I do Point I will what about nobody talks about the good things they can do like it could make

We do movies with him when he's younger again. I hate those movies But maybe they get better you won't be at a tell It's like Arnold in his prime With Bruce Willis prime, but who's writing it? Is it easy is is that they're gonna write know the AI Dennis say all right just a little AI made the whole thing up homogenization of culture mix it all together. That's it It's a well
