"Thou shalt have no other gods before me" is one of the Ten Commandments. The God of Israel strictly prohibited the children of Israel from worshipping any other god or gods. So when King Ahab led the whole house of Israel astray, he forced God's hand. The Lord sent prophet Elijah to rectify the problem.
