Countdown to kickoff continues the first place Tennessee Titans at eight and four meat the one and eleven Jacksonville Jaguars in week fourteen, and it's time for our weekly visit with pride of the Jaguars running back Fred Taylor. What's up, Fred? JP? All is good? Man? All good? How about yourself? We're hanging in there, you know, four games to go. We're counting them down at this point. That's the way it
goes when the football team is one and eleven. And I'm sure you were never on a team that lost eleven in a row. How do you think the mindset is come December? You know it's coming down close to the end, and really all you have left is direct other teams hopes and dreams of the playoffs. Well, you know, JP, um, I guess that's the only incentive. Two things actually, just the opportunity to play another game. Just being able to get out there play another game. That should always, you know,
bring a little something to you, righte. Uh. Your mindset should always be competing and trying to win. Uh. The other thing is playoffs. You know you're not going. You gotta find something in your mind to play for and uh being able to play spoiler. It's a good feeling. The one game that's the determining you know, who's who's leading in the a f C South between the Titans and the coach is the game that we want to open the season versus the Coats. Uh. And just little
things like that. You never know what type of impact is gonna have on the season, but it's gonna play out someway somehow. Fred Taylor with us and of course, you know, the last few games, it's felt like, except for the Steelers game, that the Jags have kind of been in it. You know, second half, fourth quarter of play here, play there, the ball doesn't bounce your way. They couldn't finish an overtime last week, but they got
to overtime last week. I mean that this is not a team that's getting blown out by thirty every week. You know, they have I'm packed it in, you know, and uh, as I mentioned in the post game, you know, just looking at everything. Uh, some of the fans might say, we we gotta lose so we can get ourselves in position, you know, to get the quarterback out of Clemson, and uh, some fans, you know, they don't care about draft position. They want to see their their team that they root
on win and these guys are fighting. I mean they've interchanged so many different pieces, whether it's due to COVID or coaches, whether it's due to injuries. You know, uh C j Henderson our first round thinking he's not there. The secondary is beat up. You know, we don't have you know, Josh Allen, you know he's not. Their injuries across the board. But what we do have, you know, let's focus on that the guys that are out there playing,
and most notably James Robinson a great surprise. You know, he's number three right now in the NFL and Russian. That's huge, man for a guy who's been undrafted, just a few yards away from a thousand yards. So we do have some bright spots. Again, the season isn't over. Let's see what goes on the last four games, and that the match up against today against the Titans, and then the last game of a year against the Coats, that can have some impact on what those guys are
gonna do in terms of playoff positioning. Fred Taylor with US. You mentioned the name James Robinson and he is getting close to those big numbers as the year goes along here. You know, I think he's got two hundred twelve rushing attempts this year, only twelve of those are for negative yardage. So the guy could just continues to plow forward even though defenses know that he's gonna get the football a lot of times, and he's still just finding a way
to get it done. You're right, he's finding a way. He's the guy who is excited. You know, they spoke about the rookie wall, you know, get him some rets, getting the other backs and carries. I don't think he'll see a rookie wall, not when you're out there and you're proving guys wrong. You know, he's been playing with a chip on his shoulder by Louren his shoulder, and you mentioned it jp barely any negative runs, you know,
so that's a testament to himself. You know, the guys up front, you know, they came with it this year in the run game. But they're motivated. They know they have a guy by find them who's ready to run the ball each and every week, a great path level, his quickness, everything, and as you said again, the defenses, they know he's going to get the ball. They know we've struggled in the past game you see eight guys in the box each and every week. But yet he's
still running efficiently and effectively. And again he's my brightest spot on the team this year and hopefully I'm going forward. They can continue to add pieces and build around him. On the other side, we know about the freight train that is Derrick Henry. He is the league's leading rusher. But you know, one way to get him out of the game plan is to do what the Browns did last week and put up thirty eight in the first half where he can't run the football. That's one thing
that worked last week. Now that's asking a lot of this worst team to do that, but it worked for the Browns. That's the really the only way. If they get in going and balance it out on offense with Tannehill, throw it around to those guys outside. That's when the Titans are really really dangerous. Yeah, they they are dangerous if they can get into their play action game. They do want to get into their stretch offends outside zone.
That's when Derek's most dangerous. When you give up the edge, he gets out there and then now he's into your secondary, and he's gonna straight arm every defensive back that comes within his arm length, his seven eight feet armspan, whatever it is, it seems like it's never ending. Uh, to be honest with you can't let him get on the edge. Our defensive ends will have a big task today by h making sure they secure the edge. Uh. If they can get stow him down from the outside run game,
and they will minimize their play action opportunities. And then after that you have to get after tenne Hill. You know, he's the same guy who was in Miami a few years ago. That same guy is still in him. But you have to find a way to shut the run game down first and then put some pressure on Tannihill and hopefully that will translate to a few turnovers that are translated into solid fuel position that hopefully it'll eventually
translate to points in a win for the Jaguars. And that would be nice, That would be really nice, indeed, and that would mean a fun post game show with you a little bit later. Fred, we'll talk it will yes, it will talk to you later. JP. Al Right, Fred Taylor, with this pride of the Jaguars running back, we're back with the final word before kickoff with head coach Doug Moron. The Jags and the Titans coming up at one o'clock and this is countdown to kickoff on Jaguars Radio
