Countdown to kickoff continues the Jaguars and the Baltimore Ravens in Week fifteen in the National Football League. The Jags are headed to the Inner Harbor and we're headed for our visit with pride of the Jaguars running back Fred Taylor. He joins us this time each week, what's up? Fred? Football? Football? Football? Football? What we got week the week? Fourteen fifteen, fifteen fifteen. Man, it's been that type of season. I'm even forgetting what week it is. It it's been all over the place.

I'm glad we're having this many weeks. Who would have thought this in June? Right, Yes, sir, I, I totally agree. So we're fortunate to be here. Unfortunately, though, the Jaguars have lost the last twelve football games to go one and twelve. They're headed up to Baltimore team that is right on the cut line for the playoff race. They got a big win on Monday night and they're led

really by that outstanding running attack. It's a different running attack though Lamar Jackson can run all over the yard. They've got multiple running backs, a stable of guys in that backfield, and baltom Or and it feels like a little different set up from last week when he had one main guy in Derrick Henry, who's a freight trade here in Baltimore. They've got a bunch of different ways to hit you. Yeah. I mean it starts with Lamar Jackson. He's so dynamic, you know, and he was pretty much

written off coming out of the draft. You know, that's just a guy who's gonna run around in college football. In his second year, he's in League MVP. They've slowed down a little bit this year, but it's the same Lamar Jackson. You know, he's out there. He's still making a lot of plays with his feet. What he did with the Cleveland Browns last week on Monday Night, you know, that was something that was so exciting to watch. High scoring,

a lot of running, running all over the place. So our defense has to make sure they maintain gap integrity. You know. Uh Doug mentioned last week after the game, guys getting out of their positions and it looked like it'll look as if they're not playing hard. And this week, I can tell you that that quarterback is usually unaccounted for in the run game. That's why you have a

free safety on the other side. The defense He's the one guy that's supposed to be hat perhaps on the quarterback, but he also has to worry about the receivers down the field. If you don't maintain your gap integrity and at least slow Lamar down, it's gonna be a long day, right God for sure. And then you throw in a guy like Gus Edwards and J. K. Dobbins and mark Ingram still on the team. He's not quite as effective

as he has been in the past. But that's uh, that's those are three names you don't want to get tangled up with if you're the Jags defense, right what without a doubt? And you you mentioned mark Ingram. He's a guy, you know, just a year ago he showed you that he still had juice. You know, he's still out there running it hard and he's gonna pound it. He's there slash hammer. He's gonna pound and pound and pound you. Those other guys are younger guys, you know,

but they're they're they're very elusive, you know. That's what they bring to the table. So they want to wear you down. Ingram in there. They they're gonna you know, do something tackle stuff. They're gonna do some razzle, dazzle with Lamark, the ball faking, you know, trail running, the tight end that motions, tight end sets in the backfield, criss cross run. It's it's gonna be a lot that

comes out at the defense today. But again, maintaining your lane assignment, your gap integrity is one thing, but also tackling those guys and trying your best to bring them down. Uh, and I allow them to get a full head of them. I'm looking forward to this. The Jacks gave up a few weeks ago. You gave up over two hundred to Cleveland. You turn around, you give up another two hundred to one guy and Derrick Henry. And now this team is gonna tell you we want to run the ball first.

There's no secret about it. So you gotta buckle down from a defensive standpoint to try and keep yourself in this ball game. Fred Taylor with US PROD of the Jaguars running back Gardner Minshew is getting the start at quarterback. And I'll I think I said this on the show this week, Fred, when you're one and twelve and have lost twelve in a row, there's really no such thing as a quarterback controversy because none of the quarterbacks have

really played well. So Gardner got a little something going late in the game. It's a late game situation last week. He's getting the start today. But in the grand scheme of things, they're gonna have to reset after the season. Anyway. Yeah, I agree with you totally. JP. Uh, I don't know. Gardner was what one in six before he exited with his thumb injury, and then they gave other guys an

opportunity to get out there. Uh, what we saw with Loving at first, we saw some potential young guys, strong arm, you know, amazing arm, big body Glenn and a veteran guy who's been around. Uh, he had an opportunity then farewell for him. So you had you were pretty much forced to reinsert Gardener minshoot uh and um last minute against a lot of prevent defenses all that stuff. You know, I didn't buy it, but again, it was good to see him back out there trying to rally the troop.

You know, he has the hardest, biggest Jacksonville, right and uh, he's the guy who's gonna play. He's gonna play his butt off. But you know, it's just tough, man, It's tough you're gonna play a Ravens team who's trying to make it to the playoffs. They're eight and five and they're they're fighting, you know, to get one of those wild card spots. Uh. They're gonna come after him, you know. But the good thing is they did give up what was it forty two a week ago against Cleveland, and uh,

their defense hasn't been lights out. But who knows, maybe we can sneak a win today. Maybe Gardener can have one of those Menstrumania performances that made the people love him uh today and if he can, uh, we'll be able to squeak out of wind and probably upset some fans that we won't get the second pick. If we do, you play the game to win. Fred Taylor with a prod of the Jaguars running back. Final thought here, Fred

James Robinson up to a thousand, thirty five yards. He has come then hot on your rookie rushing record of twenty three yards back. I think you mentioned this in the postgame show when when he was on with all of us last week. You want him to go get that record. That means good things for the franchise. Yeah, without a doubt, man. You know, I've always been for

me franchise first, even when I was a player. You know, I could have had more touchdowns if I you know, complain like a lot of other guys around the NFL. You know, I could have forced myself into a few more ball games when I was asked to sit out and rest due to my health. But I've always been franchised first, always been about winning. And here I am, you know, rooting for a guy to break my record, as I did when I came in, and as guys are gonna do throughout the history, you know, as this

game evolved. Well, here's the guy who was undrafted, you know, the fourth guy in the history of the NFL to achieve a thousand yards Russian to go over that milestone. Not only that he did it the fastest of those guys in the history. Why not continue to ride that wave? You know, I think it's a hundred and he's about a hundred eighty nine yards. Offer so uh for for for for beating the record. I think he should get it, you know. Uh, God forbid any you know, anything out

of ordinary, but he should get it. I would like for when to get it in a major fashion. Big run or maybe even half a day where he gets a hundred and you in the game and actually pushes that thing up and set the bar even higher for the next guy. Well, the way these teams run the ball, it should be one of the fastest games of the year. So we will see you shortly in the post game show. Fred Shortly, I like that of the Jaguars running back

Fred Taylor. We're back in a moment, the final word with head coach Doug Broone ahead of the Jags and the Ravens, and it's countdown to kickoff on Jaguars Radio.
