Countdown to Kickoff continues the oh and two Dolphins and the one and one Jaguars coming up at eight twenty eastern on Thursday Night Football and is always on countdown to kickoff. We visit with pride of the Jaguars running back Fred Taylor, and here we go in prime time. Fred. Nothing like prime time man, no matter the time in the season, prime time game, especially in Jacksonville is huge. Now a Fred, Let's get right to it. The running

game last week was fantastic. James Robinson sixteen carries a hundred two yards a touchdown, and we're seeing more and more as the weeks go along. Here Why they believe so much of him? You know what? First of all, JP, I gotta give him a call, say hey, slow down the pace man. You can't be out here breaking my the rookie remarks that I set. But it's just a testament to him. He has great ability, being able to run the ball downhill outside. He shows feed. He has

great vision. In my opinion, the offensive line got to get a big boys credit up front, and I think that the coaches believe that they found something. They found a guy who can do it all pretty much. He catches well out of the backfield as well, so you might as well continue to rick that horse alongside Robinson in the backfield. There is another weapon for Jay Gruden at his disposal this year and as Laviscus Chernault. And we've seen him the rookie lined up everywhere wide receiver

making some catches. But last week they lined him up in the backfield and just handed in the football and he's running over guys. I mean he is six one seven. I guess that makes sense, but it's still something you don't expect to see from a guy listed as a wide receiver. Well, JP, I came in, I was six one seven. My my, my, my rookie year six seven. And and the thing about being able to be as versatile as he is, you know, Jet coach bruten can

get very creative. You know, he can put those guys in the quarterback position, the running back position, he can put him and he can put him in tight so those guys can run reverses, quick handoffs, uh motion you know motion hand off. So you can get very creative with a guy who was as versatile. You'll see them design certain things, some toss passes where they are able to pitch it to him by design, and he's able to throw the ball downfield. From what I've seen, he

has a pretty good arm as well. So I'm on standby to see how creative that offense can get. I don't remember you throwing a pass, Fred, Am I wrong? You know what? I just stuck to what I did best. That was running the ball, whether it was running past you, juke you, spend, move, whatever it might have been. I was limited to that and that's just fine. It worked out well, that's all I needed. It worked out just well.

You know, you're straight. Fred Taylor with us slow starts defensively for this football team so far, put him in holes early of fourteen nothing this week after two drives. It's a young defense. There's some young players on the back end. Is that something they can grow out of? You know, I think it's a combination of things that it's a situation where the coaching staff they're also trying

to fill out what the opponent is doing. Unfortunately, the first two weeks of the season, you know, they got they got down. Hopefully this week they'll be able to get more pressure when it's uh, you know, thirt and longer along down passing situations that can create some opportunistic situations for the defense and being able to change the field position early and get the ball in the offense.

And who's actually playing pretty well. Predd Taylor with US Slits discussed the Dolphins offensive here if they have at the running back position Jordan Howard, And he's the fifth leading rusher in the league since joining the NFL, and he's already racked up thirty yards. It is his third team in the NFL. What do you know about Jordan Howard. He's a guy that started out in Chicago by way of Indiana, right, and uh, he's somewhere from your neck in the woods up in Obama. But Jordan's he's a

good running back. He's solid. They're gonna have to wrap him up. You know, he gets the ball downhill again. He was drafted by the Bears. And you know the solar backs, they like one cutting in downhill, run through. Some guys get the tough four is what I've always loved to see in him. But he's a LUs and also get out in the open field, still form some cornerbacks and and take a distance. Thursday night football, Big ball game against the Dolphins coming up, and we'll talk

to you a little later. I love those interstate matchups. Man looking forward to a jp A Sunshine State showdown. The Dolphins and the Jaguars coming up, and Jeff Logaman has the first word with head coach Doug maron coming up. The Dolphins and the Jaguars coming up on Thursday Night Football, and this is countdown to kick it off on Jaguars Radio.
