It is victory Monday, sept This is Jaguars Happy Hour, Jaguars Happy Hours brought to you by Jet Home Loans and now coming up with something to say, it wasn't hard enough. Now I've gotta look at him, Jay Peace Shadowy Here. We are welcome in Jaguars Happy Hour on this victory Monday, after the Jags knocked off the Indianapolis Colts. The Jaguars are undefeated there in first place in the a f C South. Then we've got a program for you today. Obviously on Monday's Pete Prisco and Tony Boselli

joined us. We'll have a victory Monday review of the Jaguars twenty win over the Colts that included some timely defensive play and efficient offense, especially from the quarterback. Rookie impact that was we had an idea go again. Of course, the rookies would have to make an impact, and they certainly did all over the field yesterday. Your social questions coming up in the second hour, and we will go around Week one in the National Football League and preview

Monday Night Football a doubleheader tonight. Pete and Tony, how about it? A big win for the Jags yesterday, Peter, are you ready to amend your um your record for the Jaguars after last week? No, when a team gives up four ner and forty yards or whatever it was, and the other opposite and the opposition doesn't punt and you have about two and something, No, I'm not. And look, give them credit because and I said they'd be feisty. I didn't think they'd win this game. But Sally, I

give him all the credit. A whirld. He picked him to win? UM sort of sort of sort of, oh my god, what doing j p JP? Did he pick him? Did he pick him? The I'm staying out of this fight. I don't know. That's between I wrote for Ocean Go look at the thing I wrote for Osher. I said, I called it. I said it's gonna close game, back and forth, um into the fourth quarter, and then Lambo would make a kick to put it away. You didn't say that he did? He wrote that, Yeah, I did.

He wrote. So now you're writing lies instead of just speaking. I'm talking about Oh my gosh, I want you to find one one place on the air or we're in writing where I said that the Jags we're not gonna win. You didn't say it on the air and writing, but you did say it at some point. I don't listen. So you know what, I'm gonna give you credit because you picked him to lose and you picked him to win, so you you couldn't. He's gonna be right one way, right,

cover all the board. Why not you can't lose. I only go by what it is when I sit on the air, I stand and I said, didn't I say it was gonna be a close game? I said it'll be a close game, should be a close game. Listen. It was after the first um, first two drives, I thought they were gonna lose by fifties. I mean, it was up and down and nothing was going their way. But I give them credit. That's one difference about this debat is they got some There was no blink. There

was no like throwing helmets on the sideline. There was no yelling at coaches, there was no yelling at each other and pointing fingers. I mean, they just kept up playing hard and defensively. They cleaned it up. Now, they gave it a bunch of yards, but they got two

big turnovers. Would have been a third if it wasn't for a penalty um, and they did a great job against the run once they got settled down after the first quarter, and you could see it on tape, the run gaps and the way they tackled was so much better. You know, they played good. I mean they really did. At the end of the day. They made plays when they had to. It was a little bit of a bend up but don't break type of dfense um. And

then offensively they were efficient. You know, is it gonna be enough to have a hundred ninety yards of offense or I mean two hundred or whatever it was, wasn't twohundred yards, wasn't Yeah, two and forty? Is there gonna be enough to have two or forty yards of offense? And when um throughout the year? Probably not. But they didn't turn it over and they played smart football, and you know what, it's enough to win the NFL. A lot of times, I thought Jay Gruden called a really

good game. I thought he was Yeah, he was ahead of everybody. I thought he did a nice job. I thought the offensive line did a really good job. Remember that was a major question going in. I thought they played well. I thought James Robinson played well defensively. The pass rush has to be better. I don't think there's any question about that. There were a couple of times they got a couple of hits on them, but I think it needs to be better. I thought Miles Jack

looked athletic and made play splash plays. Now, I didn't see the all twenty two tape, so it's hard for me to evaluate that. But did he look on the twenty two tape, Tony, he looked better. He looked to me on the flashed Yeah, I thought. I thought outside of the mistackle early, which is you know, early in the game and you're not gonna kill a guy for one play. I thought he played really well. I mean he was reacting, he was decisive, which we did not

see last year. Um, he played downhill, he was physical, he ran. I really thought he had an outstanding game. He looked much more comfortable with show Burt being in the middle of him at the week's side linebacker. As far as the pass Restpepe, you know as well as I do, it's hard to get to Philip Rivers. He gets rid of the ball so quick. Um. But I would like to say that's a good offensive line, A good offensive line. Yeah, I'd like to see some more winning,

you know, one on one wins up front. They got gassed. They're on the field a long time and they were going to hurry up, and you can see conditioning was an issue. Um. I mean Josh Allen, who's their best defensive player, is in the locker room for you know, half of the fourth quarter getting I V. So that's never I mean, you know, the guys were winded, really winded, but they got a really they had a lot of really good stuff. I mean good stuff that you had

to really just tip your hat. I mean c J. Henderson for a rookie first game ever, I mean he just played big time, um the past defense at the end against the fourth and what the fourth and four or fourth and five to end the game. I mean just big time play after big time and play. So yeah, there's a lot to clean up. To your point, Pete, it wasn't perfect. I mean, anytime a team isn't the punt um, you're you're you're hoping for turnovers. They got

to turnovers they got. They did give their offense some short fields with the short field a couple of times, which is great, um, And so more to be positive about the negative, that's for sure, and they have a lot to build on. I agree. I mean, look, you beat a team that's favored by seven or eight and at your own place, the team that most people, including myself are picking to win that division, you gotta get moll of credit in the world. It wasn't pretty, but

you found a way. That's all I gotta do is win games. And and it seems like every time they needed somebody to make a play, whether it was that stop and you know, fourth and one, or you know in in the the winding guard making the pick, somebody stepped up and made a play. And that wasn't happening for a long time around that place. One more thing, by the way, I thought Jones played well at the back end. I thought he did some really good things

back there tackles yesterday, he did some good things. It's interesting. It's an interesting team. Uh they're young. You could tell, like Tony said, they care about it. It's not you know, anybody taunting and you know, putting their heads down and you know, moaning and growning. They just went out and played. And they could have after the first two drives, they could have you know, wild, they could have gone home

and they didn't. That's that's now. If they punched it in there, it might be a different field though, Right, well, yeah they got that fourth down stop. Um, Which did you like the call Therapet going for him fourth down? The way they were running through them? Probably, yeah, I wouldn't. A normal game on the road, I probably kicked their tony, but not scenario. The way they were going right through them, I would have went for it. I probably would have

done the same thing. But then you just think back man being and having a too having a too possession of lead in the first quarter on the road. It's tough to turn down. Um. But I said it on

the air, I thought that would change the momentum the game. Actually, what I said on the air is like, these are the type of moments that have a chance to change momentum and the feeling because you all of a sudden, you gave life to a young team and got them like, hey, all right, we'll right back in it, Um, And that did change the game. From that point on. It was a dog fight back and forth, and so you know,

give them credit because they kept on fighting. Now, the question is, and thankfully we don't have to even answer it um is if they would have gone down fourteen nothing, how would how would the young team have handled University? My guess is based on their body language and what was going on, they have kept on playing. I don't think they really, for the most part, care what anyone else thinks, and they're not worried about it. I think they just want to play hard. And I think it

really does start with their quarterback. I think Garter midshow. Um. He has some faults and some questions and I still think things we want to see. But the one thing he is he's a natural leader. The big gravitate too, and that he is he has moxie and he just keeps on playing and and you feel like you're always in it. One quick thing, one quick thing, JP, I wanted to ask before we get take Guarter. Was it weird? Guys?

I mean, I haven't been to a game or a stadium and that stadium actually had fans, but there weren't many. Was it weird? Um? Was it weird? Uh? It because it was weird because like you couldn't go on the field like I always go on the field before a game, So like we look down, there's nobody on the sidelines. There's nobody on the field except for players and coaches.

That was different. Obviously having not very many fans, it loses a little bit of the atmosphere about giving the fans are credit that you know, they had fun and made some noise. Um. The press box is pretty pretty normal outside and to wear a mask when you walked around, they had food and you know, probably didn't linger out there as much as usual, Pete. You know when you're out there, you're hanging out half time talking to people. Yeah,

that probably didn't happen as much, but it wasn't. It was different, but not as weird as that we gargnerment you you touched on it. Tony the only player in league history with three touchdowns and passing in a game with twenty or more attempts um nineteen of twenty yesterday, Pete, and the one miss was pretty darn close to being a perfect day for him. How did he look to you outside of the numbers, Pete, Uh, he looked like he like I thought he would look. I think he's

an accurate pastor. I think he's smart. I think he knows where to go with the football. I think he's he was much more patient than he's been at times, but there were still some places where he got out of there. He had no business leaving um. And I like the touchdown passed this Chanel. I thought he knew the blitz was coming off his right side. He knew rob it would go over and pick it up. He looked left, came back into the middle and threw a nice pass to Schol for a touchdown. That's growth as

a quarterback. But at some point, the ball has to go down the field. You can't just think and dump your way in through an entire season. They have to take their shots down the field. I thought Jake Bruden, like I said earlier, I thought he helped them in a big way by scheming things open. I mean, the cold play was fantastic. It looked like a crosser and then he bended a back up over the pylon. That was a great design. And Uh, but again a lot of good, a lot of moxie. Like Tony says, I

love the way the kid acts. I love the way he sees the field. Uh, he's just gotta start driving the ball down the field, and he's gotta be a little bit more patient inside the pocket at times. What do you think, yeah, is that is that a limitation of what Gardner can do? Though the way they called it yesterday, Tony, Yeah, I mean only Jake Gruden could

answer that. I don't know Jake. But also this Pete, I mean the question I think I have now it's hard to really like he went thank you for twenty and threw three touchdowns and football, I mean one a football game that no one thought they were gonna win except for me Um. But I think ultimately I saw questions. Can't you sit in the pocket and drive it down the middle of the field? Can you throw the deep end? Can you throw the deep out with consistency? Are they gonna,

you know, push the ball down the field? Is that something they're comfortable with with gard minshew? And can you do it when it's not perfect in the pocket, when there's trash around it? So, I mean those are still questions. I'm not saying you can or can't, but those are definitely things that you kind of wonder, And we didn't see it yesterday. It was a very um controlled passing game. I mean, you think about they took one shot down the field, they got p i um because and I

think you know, I hope they do it more. I would hope anytime that DJ Jark is one on one single iye, safety, you're gonna take a shot more times than not with him. Uh, but you didn't see a lot of stuff that It was a lot of under eat stuff, crossing rounds, quick out, and then the red zone plays were really designed to get guys open. Even the first touchdown to dj Jark, he did a great job va la Visca snal is sitting in the flat.

It's a pump fake to him and hold gender each coverage and then hits d j Jark in the in the back of the end zone on the corner route. So really what he did drive it. He did drive that ball though, I'm gonna give him credit for that one because he had to drive. He drove that ball. Wasn't a deep ball, but he did drive it. That was one of his bad I thought that was one of the better ones. I thought the one to Cole he was a little laid on it and kind of hung up in the air for a little while. He

was so wide open. Remember that that one. He was a little late. But yeah, how can he criticize the guy twenty with three dutch downs. It's hard, but going forward he's got and we're spinning it forward kind of here, right. You gotta be able to throw the ball down the field. You have to in this league. He did spread it around on the offensive side, that's for sure. They had

the run game early. When we come back, we'll get into that run game a little bit more and more defensive talk down the line, and of course in the second hour, your social questions will go around the National Football League as well. You know, I think you know this team adventures and things. Um, this team is stuck together. Uh. This team relies on each other, you know, for someone to come up with

a play, and they continue to keep getting better. Head coach Doug Moron after the game yesterday, Jags win twenty the final on kickoff weekend over the Indianapolis Colts and

what a day it was. Timely defense, some short fields for the offense helped they got ten points off the two turnovers, had a couple of fourth down stops as well to keep the the Colts from moving any further, and one of those was right there on the on the doorstep, and they got a lot of from Avery Jones had that big play, of course, and then they had a lot of huge um played from youngsters in the game. James Robinson did not find the end zone.

But we we were talking about Gardner Minshu's day early in the game, especially the running game was going pretty well for this Jags offense, and Robinson finished the day with sixty two yards. He had all those in the first half. But they lined up guys in the I formation first play from scrimmage. Here's the full back, here's the running back, and they handed off. I haven't seen that formation. That seems like a litter for that type of four nation formation. But James Robinson made the most

of it there, Pete. James Robinson makes people miss. I mean, he puts his foot in the ground and he goes um. I was impressed with him. I thought, you know, I had heard good things about him. I was curious and right from the get go, I thought he ran well, he ran hard, he's tough, he blocked well, he's a Willie blocker. Um I. And then they made that play in the past a game where he leaked over the guy. I gotta give the organization credit for finding him, and

I gotta give him credit for going in there. And you know, I think, what's the fourth all time to undrafted running back to start an opening day. It's incredible and the first one. Yes, yes, So I give him. I give him a ton of credit, and he's gonna be a good player. You know, sixty two yards it was at the happy had sixty two? Right? Yeah? Why didn't he? What happened to thee? They should have got more of the second half, but they threw the ball a little bit more. I guess, Yeah, they didn't have

I mean they didn't have a ton of snaps. They have a lot of short fields, you know. You remember the Colts had that eight and a half minute drive and the third and fourth um so limited reps and then they got he got shut down a couple of runs um so and then uh Leabiscus labisca lavisca, uh Sinalt had the one run on the wild card cat. So they did some different things. They were it's consistent. Um the Colt tack of the player, he said, I mean, just he make you miss like he's very I think

just that best efficient in his running. He's very We've heard about him having great vision all the training camp. You could see it, uh in the game, like he sees like when there's just the slightest hole and he's not afraid to get north and south. Um and he has the ability to the jump cut. And would you rather have him or four nette? Him or four Nette right now? As right now James Robson, Yeah, I have tend to agree with you. He's a better runner. He's

a better runner. He runs the way you need to run. He doesn't you know, he doesn't try and run over people just to run over people. He can make people miss. He bounced it one time. I thought that was a good. Yeah, I was impressed. He's efficient and he gets north and south and it was like very little wasted movement and energy and he runs. He runs hard too. I mean it looks like it's he's not a big guy, but it looks like tackling him is you're gonna feel it

when you tackle him. You know. Sometimes with those guys like Marshawn Lynch wasn't ever really a big guy. He was, I mean, he was a good sized guy, but he wasn't huge like Derrick Henry. But when you tackle Marshawn Lets, everybody talked about how much you've felt it. This kid runs like you're gonna feel it when you tackle. Well, he's not small, he's sure, but he's two under sixteen, twenty pounds and five giants and he's like, yeah, he's like he's like Mojo was back in the day before

two six. I'm gonna tell Mojo, you're taking shots out. I'm not thinking Mojo was one of the best backs, never playing this. I mean the second best back ever in the history of the organization, one of the best backs, one of rushing title. I mean, being compared to Mojo is a compliment. Well, that's that's why they You know, the kid in Kansas City, the little running back, it

went wild on an opening night, Edwarich Hilaire. Everybody compares him, and I said, he reminds me of Maurice jons Jew And I said, if he gets to that, he's one l of a player. Was good back, really good player. So the run game worked well early, Yeah, what what happened in they got away from it? They didn't have as many possessions in the second half and and the time how many carries did he have in the second half. I think it was probably four or five. It wasn't many.

It wasn't many, although will check um but that that was kind of the flow of the game. I guess yesterday, Um, you know there was how about la Visco Chanaul moving him around. He played the wildcat he um had a few nice receptions the touchdown, and you know there was a somebody made the point on Twitter today that of his catches he never hit the ground like he was pushed out of bounds. He ran over that guy and

was pushed out of bounds. The other play he was swarmed, they didn't take him to the ground, and then he scored the touchdown. So he's a big, thick, strong body as well, which is a good sign. That's the kind of that that the way he's gonna play is gonna be fantastic. I think, yeah, he didn't given me a lot of optionality. He's gonna be one of those guys who can laugh at the back and move them around. Um,

you can work underneath. I think ultimately he'll be able to work up the seam even outside because he does have speed. Um, So I think, you know, a lot of really interested in him. Now he should have caught the one ball. It was slightly behind him. I like a big receiver like that. He has big hands, he's strong, powerful. Those are the kind of catches you want to see him make and traffic, which I think he will. Um. But JB, I don't think you can say nothing about

all these young guys. I mean, whether it's not, whether it's Robinson, I mean Colin Johnson had a catch, um, I mean he showed up. I mean it's really remarkable. And then you get on the defensive side and well, I know we'll talk about that later, but just the volume of rookies who contributed, and not just rookies, but then your second year players who had impacts in this game as well. And so I really like this receiving corps. Um. I think Chark is going to continue to be one

of those guys. I think he will be end up being viewed as a number one receiver in this league. Um, because he has that kind of ability. I think when he bowed, when he when teams match up with him one on one, I think Jay Gruden will tell the gardner said, hey, go at him, take the shot, because he's that type of player. UM, And I think if you look at the rest of the receiving corps, it wouldn't surprise me. And I'm so hesitant to say this, UM because a couple of reasons. One Keel and co

At a very good game. UM. I still think Commonly has game left in him. And I don't want to repeat credit. But don't be surprised by the midway mark. If you're starting receivers and three receiver sets are are charts and all? And Colin Johnson, you're giving me credit cause I said that a while ago. Why can't you just give me credit where credit is due. You don't give me. You don't give me credit for picking the Jags a win. You know why? You know why? If

you really picked him to win, I wouldn't give any credit. Hey, j P, can you read the uh? Can you read my paragraph I wrote for John Oshan? I'll pull it up in a minute. Yes, Well, but I told you Colin Johnson's gonna be playing. That's a good group too, if they're all together. What about Westbrook being inactive? Were you surprised, Tony? No, I don't. I don't think he's one of the five best receivers on this team right now. Well, Doug Maron was asked about that today by the way, um,

was there anything other than a healthy scratch? And he said, you know, remember d D. He said, at least d D was banged up a little bit in the in the training camp and not quite ready to go. And that was the reason Maron gave today for that. But okay, man, say, okay, JP, but I'm just who who are you benching to bring I'm down to bring D up? Everybody was doin. Nobody everybody was up pretty well, unless he's gonna be your

punt returner. And right now Clay works is if he's gonna be your punt returner, then maybe bring six receivers up in in Westbrookshire part return Outside of that, things go the way they went yesterday. I could be the part returner. Oh man, oh wait. It's still remarkable that the cold not once yesterday, not once, not once. It's amazing. All right. Here's what Here's what Tony wrote in John Osier's final analysis article that aired that ran on this Saturday.

Listen to Friday Saturday. Here it is, this is the final thought that he has on here. Let me find it again. I've just lost it. There is um okay as Maselli season, the Jaguars must play some of their best football to be a team that, in my estimation, is the FC South's best entering the season. The good news is it appears that will be in the Hiaties

and human Sunday. I think Minshew and the Jaguars will come out of the tunnel with a giant chip on their shoulders and shock the NFL with a great performance on both sides of the ball. It will be a close game. Late in the fourth quarter when Jaguars kicker Josh Lambeau lignes up for a forty nine yard field goal to win, you're awful, little bit. Yeah you were all but closed. You have the right number of points, right, so you had that right. Um, it wasn't one on

a late field goal. Uh, they didn't play their best football on outside of the ball. You wouldn't You would say that who picked? Who picked the winning score? Yeah? You know that's like that's like when a politician comes to the podium and says something and then behind closed doors you really know what he's saying. I don't know what you're talking about right now? If I have to go to JP the judge. You don't want me to

do that. We'll come back in a moment. We'll have a few minutes to think about this defensive talk when we come back. Defensive standouts in the game. C J. Henderson a little more about his game. We touched on the linebacker play as well. They gave up four D forty five yards of offense, but timely defensive plays, big plays gave the offensive short field. We'll get into that

coming up second are around the corner ELM. In about thirty minutes will begin the second hour of Jaguars Happy Hour Social questions and we'll go around the league as well. I saw the mall the whole way, you know, encourage you were playing, But you know what, I'm scared. I was scared to

was gonna drop it. So I called it the way I did, and uh celebrate that is that the first time you've ever been scared knowing that you were about to grab one. And I wasn't scared. I was like, let's say, excited, like wow, it's too going to be

true that type. It wasn't like scared, like nervous. C J. Henderson Jaguars corner with an interception off future Hall of Famer Philip Rivers and his NFL debut and a nice return to go with that as well, except the Jaguars on a short field when they were trailing seven zip in the early part of the second quarter. Welcome back Jaguars, Happy R J. P. Shadrick in studio, Pete Frisco and South Florida and Tony Boselli in parts unknown. Glad you're

along with us today. Your social questions coming up in the second hour. Yeah. How about the debut for Henderson We touched on in a minute ago, guys, but five tackles, three passes, defenced some physical play as well. He didn't shy away from from contact when he had to come up and make a hit peat and then he makes the interception there as well. That's um. I don't know if you can ask for a better debut for a

rookie corner than that. You know, it's interesting though. Early in the game it looked like he was gonna have a tough go of it because you know, Hilton got him a couple of times with some google really good moves and him was a good receiver. And then he kind of settled in and played pretty well. Uh, you

gotta give credit. I mean, he made the plays he would he have three pass defense to pick and then he also had a couple of tackles where he came up in a run game and really looked good doing so he he looks like he's gonna be a good player, and you know, at Florida he didn't always look that way, but you could see the talent. So I don't know what the reason was, because there were times to Florida

we had some moments where he kind of drifted. But if he plays like he did, you know, against the Colts, that that's bodes well for the future because that looked like a guy that's gonna be a really good guy, a corner who goes to the Pro Bowl once in a while. So can I ask a question. I agree with the mething you said, but if you if we go back to the interview, didn't he say he was scared and then yeah? And then he came back yeah, and then he wasn't scared. Yeah. I just want to

make sure you didn't hear that wrong. You didn't, right, That's okay, And he's not one to at least the few times we've had him on media things, he's he's that's his personality now, at least in front of the camera and all that A little bit different when he gets on the field, it feels like but um, that's just kind of his personality. He's not gonna get he's no. We saw this way last night. By the way, Um,

we'll get to that game coming up a little bit later. Um. You know we touched on the linebacker play and Shower being in the middle and Jack running around. Eleven tackles for Miles yesterday. I mean, that's that's a I don't I don't know if that's a career high for him, but it is a couple of hits in the quarterback too, blitz a sack. Yeah. I thought that was one of Miles Jack's best games. I thought he was he was anticipating getting to the football, looked fast, you know, played fast.

I think that's his that's his position, that's where he should have been playing all along. He looked like a different guy. He looked freed up to me. Yeah, yeah, it's like he you know, he had the first mistackle early in the game that led to a pretty big run, But after that, man, he was all over it. He like some of the reds he made, hitting the gaps when he read the uh read that it was run was impressive, you know, hitting one of those plays, one

of those goal line players where he knifed in the end. Yeah, and he just so physical and like when he hits you, you stopping your tracks. He had a sack, he was, you know, blitzed well, Like I was really impressed. You know, nice job tackling underneath round. I think it was Paris Campbell that got caught the ball and made a nice tackle for no game. So um yeah, early returns on the switch of Miles Jack uh Will week side linebacker

A plus. I mean, what do you what do you think of shober You know, Schobert is not a thumpermental linebackers, but he's good in coverage. You saw that on tape. And he he is very He is in the right place and he makes tackles. Um and I think he does a good job get everyone lined up and on the same page and where they're supposed to be, and he makes good plays. I mean he is. He gets off box, he he got off a block. I think it was uh Bowinsky, the right guard who came out

and blocked and free Rank got off the block. He made a tackle for a loss. I mean he is, I mean he he's got a thumper like reason, like you're gonna feel his presence. He's a physical guy who can get around blocks, ship blocks and make plays in the run. And he's a good pass coverage guy. Sony, I wanted to ask you real quick, Um on the touchdown to the second touchdown to Hynes, what the screens he what was he doing on that play? Show over? Do you remember he kind of covered somebody. I don't

know what they were doing. It looked like somebody was in the wrong defense. It almost looked like they were in a cover two and he had to cover the Yeah, the tight end. Who ran this right in the middle of the field because he turned and ran with the tight end. Yeah, and Miles sat in It's kind of a hook flat area. And as Miles reacted, by the time he got there, I mean, he had an offensive linement on top of him, the center Kelly, and it was a good blocking. It was an easy walk in

touchdown for Hines. So who how okay, Kelly's blocking on Jack, So somebody else has to be there for as the force guy. Well, there was two guys that they had. They had Quittin Nelson out there as well. I mean they had the cavalry leading the way. I mean, it was a well designed play and the Jags were slow. D J. Hayden was on the back side of the slot. He reacted a little bit slow. Maybe if he's a step quicker he can make the tackle Ninien Hines at

the one or two um. But outside that they had blocked well, executed well and slow recognition on the on the screen. All right, let's come back in a moment. We will touch on this in stadium field yesterday, Tony. You are the closest of all three of us to the field, but you were even close to the field, but you were in there to see what was happening in the bowl. Your thoughts on that again coming up.

Gregner mints you after the Jaguars win yesterday in Week one, the final score Jags over the Colts. Welcome back Jaguars Happy Hour, j P. Shadrick, Pete, Prisco, Tony Vasselli. That was a sweet macho man headband for the quarterback. There, Um, you don't, I'm curious. You know

we're gonna get to social questions coming up. But there was a comment about an hour ago that Basselli is gonna have a field day with Prisco. People are saying, I don't know what that even means. Pete, we know what it means. It means that I picked them to lose, and Tony supposedly picked them to win. So Pete, why do you say? Why do you say supposedly? I don't

know about you. I mean I thought you would have some journalistic integrity and recognize when a fellow me be a member right something that they shoot credit for it. So he wrote something and said that the Jaggers Jaguars are going to win the game. I said, they toured twenties seven points. I made the points of the score. I'll give you credit for that. I said that when you were talking before that, you said the Colts would score forty four. I never seen I have no recollection

of saying anything of the sort. Pete. We finally trained him. Remember last year he admitted he's a media member. Finally, now he's saying it on his own without us having to go to him about it, which is good. Oh, he's a medium member. He knows it. He can't even fight that anymore. But it's disappointing, Pete. You wouldn't give a fellop media member and credit were credited due And you know what, I do own you because you got

it wrong. I got it right. And can I continue to prove that I had better as as a medium member? Do you know what? Do you know what clickbait is? Yeah, you're the king of it. How about those towering Pete tell us more? Yeah, I think we got a case of clickbad here, don't you. It was to make everybody in Jacksonville love them. That's why he picked them to win it. Hey, we touched on this earlier. Of course, The Jaguars were the only team in the league yesterday

to have fans in attendance. The Chiefs had fans on Thursday Night Football the Jags yesterday had had a pretty good crowd in that stadium, at least it looked like on television. I was in the in the building, but not in the stadium part of the building, so I didn't see it firsthand. Um, Tony, you were the closest of the three of us to the action yesterday. They announced fourteen thousand, one hundred was the attendance in the game. But how was the energy in there? How was the

feel walking around being around? I know you were in the press box, but you know, how was it was? It was it weird change? I don't know if it was weird. Um, it reminded me that if you looked at the stands, you know, when they said to the uh Saturday night scrimmages and you get about fifteen thousand people in the stands kind of scattered about, That's what

it looked like. Um, it was you know, people were and the people who were there were fully engaged and having fun and cheering and but you're only gonna make so much noise with with fifteen thousand people. But overall,

I mean I thought it was good. I mean I thought it was It was the best you could do under the you know, current situation with the COVID nineteen pandemic um and so that, you know, the press box felt like the press box, not as much hanging out and he's obviously had to wear a mask when you're in the public spaces. But there was food and called the game. And I guess the only thing that was like it was weird is you didn't get the really the roars like on a big play like the you know,

with the crowd going crazy. You know, fifteen thousand people went crazy, but that's different than one fifty crazy. I'll say this, Uh, you know, the joke around the newsroom and when I have my studio and stuff in the joke around the country was well, that's a normal crowd for the Jarre Wars. That's not accurate. But I corrected him. I mean, look, I think more and more teams are going to have fans. Don't you think I think we're

moving to that. I don't know why you wouldn't. And this is why, Like, if you it's outside like and so like there's already been proven like being outside really lessens your chances of getting and being passed along. And then if you wear your mass at the same time, Like, I really, I mean, I'm not saying there's no risk. I mean, obviously you've gotta be smart and if you have underlying health conditions you shouldn't go, and other things like that. But I think it's pretty minimals my sense

of it. Like everything I read, face and space them out. Yeah, face them out. You went to the Florida State game. All I saw with pictures of people complaining about how there was no social distancing. Well, but here's the thing, so like, so, I mean I was up in a box, so, um, I buy well, I buy tickets, Well, I pay for them jp um uh And is I looked around? Well, I think about us. So if you're like I was thinking about it, probably gotten the game. And my wife

couldn't go because she like, no one could go. So I went with a couple of buddies. But like, if I had to think my whole family, there have been seven of us, And guess what if you looked out in this or six of us, if you looked at the stands, all six of us have been sitting right next to each other. And guess what if no one was around us, I probably wouldn't have a mask on it.

Because like, no one's near us, and we lived together, and so I think sometimes you have to wonder, like, so like, let's say you went with the like you live in a fraternity and you went with like twenty of your fraternity brothers. You all lived together already, So what's the difference if you, like, why wouldn't you sit next to each other? I'm with you. Plus do you have anybody so you don't need to u But so, like, I guess that's a long way say. I didn't see

like when I was at the game. At least it wasn't like, oh my gosh, zero social distancing. This is ridiculous now walking around he said, But you look up Twitter. You saw the pictures. Then oh my god, look how close to their sitting was terrible. I mean, it's just you know, there's always that segment of the population out there that was It's just like the high school football game at Jacksonville a couple of weeks ago, and then

when viral went on CNN and went everywhere. I will say because I was in the in the sky box right behind the student section Saturday, that's what we had to call the game. And when the second rain storm hit it was like everybody went to the portals at the same time to get out of there, so and

going up stairs. But yeah, that's in fairness, you don't want it was like pouring rain with like I was trying to get out of I'm with you, yes, I mean like like like honestly, like all that's going on, like of people not social distancing here and get on a bunch of kids trying to it out the state

name with lightning. I'm just telling you what. You're part of the problem, really, But from what I could, from what I heard, though, the Jaguars did a good job of trying to socially distanced everybody in that stadium yesterday, I thought I thought they did a great job. Like, um, I thought they did a great job. Everywhere I looked,

it looked like people are being responsible. I'd say people have masks on um And by the way, I'm not gonna get on people if they don't wear a mask, if they're not near anybody else and you're outside and you're having a hot dog or something or a beer like like, I don't like, I don't think we have to go over the top, like when you're entering the stadium and leaving the stadium, like, wear a mask if you're gonna be around people like I left it right

after the game, and then when you leave there's people like it's hard not to be around some people when you were walking outside the gate. But if everyone wears your mask and you're smart about it, like I just I don't. Um, yeah, I don't think that. I thought. I think the Jags did an outstanding job. I think hats off to you know, Mark Lamping and his entire team on the business side to pull it on off and and really doing it, doing it the right way,

the same crowd in two weeks. Two weeks Awa, it's the Thursday night, so you're interesting what happens then, Yeah, well it'll be more because I guess they opened up stuff. So we're on the phase. I don't think, And I wonder, well, I wonder if it does JP because it just went

to a different phase. We're now in bars and restaurants gonna have fift instead and so would that mean that the stadium can have fifty percent of the people or is it still just the Well the jack is gonna be two and oh, so that'll help going into Thursday night football. So but if you can only sell sanity, if you can only sell the ticket, so they're going to be more people in there, no matter if you

work too it. So maybe Tony's asking if it goes up to can do they grease with the city ordinances or they set that for the year, they're not going to go beyond that. I do not know. I think it can change. I don't think changed that. I don't just change it, just change the Jacksonville they just announced that. No, I'm saying the fans in the stands can change by month, and so you get that, but jp A might not. Maybe I'm wrong. I just heard the bar. Yes what

the phase two in the state of Florida today. Yeah, with the Phase two of the state of Florida today, so you can have everywhere bars are now open untill two am everywhere in most counties. Counter yea. Yeah, even do you even have restaurants open down there yet? Yeah,

they're open. But like I'll give you an example. My brother runs you know, he's been running Bruise Room and Pompado Beach for years and football is a big time for them because you know, it's a sports bar with wings and everything, and you can only have want if I percent people in the bar and they got to sit at tables. They can't sit at the bar. It's just dumb. Strange times were in. Strange times were in for sure. You know people and you know what the

people like elbow Room. You know the Elbow Room. It's a famous bar on Fort Laundo Beach hasn't been open since March. And people go, oh, big deal, you just want to go to the bar and have some drinks. No, that's not what it is. People make their living working there. You know, they make their living well. I mean that's

the hard part. I mean, listen, and that that's why I'm thankful that we had some fans so that the people who work in the stadium, you know, but my guess is they probably didn't have a full team working on the stadium because they have a full crowd. And so I mean that's the un I mean, that's the thing that people don't talk about as much, be as what you bring up across all of sports and really

all of our society. The impact that this pandemic has had not just on the people getting sick, which is terrible and people dying, which is even worse, but people who've lost jobs and the ability to employment because where they worked, whether it's a restaurant or a bar or a stadium. I guess is JP, I don't know if you know this. My guess is that we that the stadium didn't have a full capacity of workers because they

have a full capacity crowd. Yes, And so that's that's the stuff that stinks that you bring up, Pete, that your brother's facing. But you know, yeah, it hurts, yeah, is uh, I'm sure? Like can you still go to the concessions standard by by the hot dog and a

beer or is that even a process? You can? But you can also order from your app as well and have it ready to pick up where wherever you are in the stadium, so you can go to the standard will be ready for you as well, which is you know, which again isn't a bad thing in the first place. Like a lot of the stuff that's coming out of this whole pandemic are all things that probably you should have been doing in the first place. Like well, yeah,

but like I'll give you an example in the press box. Um, you know they like ever you stand a buffet, you kind of go food wine to get it. Um, you couldn't serve yourself, so it took longer to get your food because you had to go through and they had to serve you the food. Um. And I know, like my kids set up in the terrace whites, and because my wife couldn't go to the game yesterday and instead of going up and making your own plate and getting food,

you had to go get served. And so I think a lot of what's happening, they're taking away the freedom of the or the ability not for you, the ability of the patron to go like serve themselves or do whatever. And now they have to be served by a worker to limit than the number of people that touch utensils or whatever else to drink servations and everything else. All right, guys, let's come back. The second hour of Jaguar's Happy Hour

coming up. We'll recap the big story of the day that Jags will win over the Colts, will get to your social questions and go around the National Football League. We're about halfway home. Right there. That's just a glass that we ain't scratching the surface yet. Do not be satisfied with one out. We gotta be another Division game coming up. Let's bring it this wicked practice. I surface. I let's go win again baby, and went up three. We gotta love that Mississippi accident after a win. Jags, Colts twenty and welcome back, second hour of Jaguar's Happy Hour, j F Shadrick, Pete

Prisco and Tony was silly. And that's the quarterback Gardner Minshew in the locker room after the win, breaking the team down. I wonder what he said when they they blocked out the audio there. There was a couple of times, I wonder, But great stuff obviously from the quarterback. Nineteen of twenty passing, timely defense, a couple of big takeaway das,

and the Jags had ten points off turnovers. An all time efficient day really for for Minshew, the only player in NFL history to throw three touchdown passes and complete of his passes in the same game. That's pretty remarkable in twenty or more attempts, by the way, and he had twenty attempts and the one miss was um It was a little behind the intended receiver, but still fairly catchable.

The youngsters set the tone, of course, a lot of youths on the field for the Jags, and a lot of youth making impact, especially rookies, UM and second year players, second third year players. That's the majority of this roster. And that's what you would expect when when those guys make plays, then things can go well. That's what happened. And yesterday's game c J Henderson one of those who had the the game ending past defense against t Y Hilton and an interception in the game too, so plenty

to get to. You know, we touched on briefly Jake Gruden's play calling and the game plan and and Pete. It seemed like a balanced day and they got some things done offensively. I don't think they showed a whole lot of everything they're going to do this year, but they did some different things than we expected. I think, well, and again, how much could he have it right? I mean, you don't know, we have no idea um because it's the process is so much so different than it's been.

But I just like the design as some of the stuff. I mean, even the first touchdown pass Tony you mentioned it faked the bubble screen and and and go you know, hit shark over there on the touchdown. That was a good play design. I thought the play designed to Keel and Cole was well um well designed. And then you know, you gotta give Mint you credit because he is anticipating and seeing better, I think, and his accuracy was good. But it was a good plan and I think Jake

Gruden deserves credit for that. He made it easy on his quarterback. Anytime he can get easy on your quarterback, it's a good plan. Well, but Pete, we can't forget um. I think everyone remembers Jay Gruden at the Washington Redskins, which had ended really bad. But if you look at Jay Gruden earlyer with the Redskins, like basically Kirk Cousins should give him a good portion of his salary that he makes because of the offense that Jay Gruden called

really highlighted the strength of Kirk Cousins. And then if you go back to the Bengals, like for after for about three year period, Jake Gruden was considered one of the best offensive coordinators all football and have every team trying to hire him as their head coach. And he took any Dalton in that team and really they had the most successful years under him as the offensive coordinator. You know, making some playoff runs under Marvin Lewis, but the guy knows how to call play I mean, there's

no doubt about that. He is a he's a professional offensive coordinator, and I thought he did a great job and it doesn't really surprise me much either. Now, hats off to him because he did it, And you wonder how much he does have h because you know, no real off season except for zoom calls, no ts, and no no preseason and a limited training camp. How much of the offense um was he able to get in?

And we won't know that, But my guess is, you know, maybe of it he had in and we'll he'll add stuff as they get comfortable and he figures out and learns more about his quarterback UM. So it's be interesting to watch the flip side of that is too. None of these teams knew what they were gonna get going into this game with no preseason, and especially on the

teams that had new staffs and new pieces. So it will be interesting to see how the Titans and these other teams start game planning the Jaguars and Gardner Minshew moving forward, do they start sitting on stuff to start taking away them to meet stuff and say, he if you're gonna beat this, you're gonna beat this over the top, um. I mean interesting interesting to see what they do. Were you a little disappointed to Colts defense, Tony, because I was I wanted. I thought that some of those younger

players had made more strides than they did. I wasn't as oppressed as I thought I would do well. I mean, the Forest monker did nothing right. Um, now give credit, I thought, and and I don't know if we have p f T grades, if we do that anymore. But Andrew nor Well was outstanding. And I don't want to say who's been pumping him up either. Who said he's way you know over criticized, Um, you did very well, you did. We'll give you credit for that. He's playing

very He played very well. Um you know who didn't pop out very much and didn't really flashes. Darius Leonard and I have high regard. I think I have. I hold him in the highest regards of linebackers. I agree, I didn't. He didn't look that good. Nine tackles led the way for them, But yeah, I didn't like it. He flashed. Their secondary played soft, Pete really allowing a lot of the underneath stuff, easy outs, really soft coverage. I was a little surprised at that. Um yeah, I

was not. I thought they'd be better. Frankly, now, a week one, what do we do every Monday after Week one? We could overreact to everything. Overreact, I mean, and this is gonna be the biggest overreaction ever this year because

we really don't know what these teams are. Now we'll start getting some film out there, you'll see coaches starting the game playing scheme a little bit differently, understand what they have, what they can and cannot do because they didn't have much of camp or for a preseason to do that. So, um, but I thought give Jay Gruden a lot of credit, you know, coming out of that game, Pete, as you look up at the p F T grades, Um, I'm trying to find them. I'm seeing if we had

them anymore? Does after that game? Coming into the season, I would put you as a big question mark whether Gardner Minshew is a franchise quarterback or not. Like you know, and you're probably leaning towards not being a guy who could build a franchise around That's right. What is that a miscount classification of you that I wouldn't Yes, unknown, but leaning towards no would that beret? Has that changed after Week one? Still unknown, but not as quite leaning

to know? So now you're right on right on the fence. Yeah, it's still leading to not just quite as far as you were earlier, right, So I would I would have put myself as quarterbacks gott to drive the ball down the field at some point before you can sit here and say, yes, he's the guy drive the ball. So

I would have said unknown, hoping that he was. Is where I have classified myself like Cofrey, like deep inside, really hoping, And I would say this, and this is hard for me to say because the guy one nineteen three touchdowns, I haven't moved anymore towards like knowing that he is that guy. Now it's only one week. But I would have thought, if you'd have told me that the gardnerment she would have thrown three touchdowns and led the Jaguars to a victory against the Colts opening day,

that I would have can't. I would have said, you know, I'll come out of that situation feeling really good that we found our franchise quarterback. Well, I he was impressive yesterday, but he still has to meet for me, still has to drive the ball. And until he drives the ball, I'm i gotta see more of that. We wanted to see where I'm gonna tell you where, um of all the guards in the league, and I just found this

this way. Of all the guards in the league from yesterday, Andrew Norwell, he was the highest rated Jaguar guard obviously, but he ranked sixteenth in the league. Now, d Quinn Nelson was, Quentin Nelson was ten. Did no Noral had a better game than Quentin Nelson? I watched it everything. I watched them when they had Nelson at ten and Mark Lewinsky at fourteen. Okay, I'll just tell you right now, Andrew Noel played better than both of them. See this

is why why I even you brought it up. A J. Cann was thirty one, So that's right at the middle of the pack, right, I'm gonna go to the centers and see where. How did I thought he had solid I mean he had called for a face mask. I watched the tape like three times. I couldnot see a face mask. I think it was. I don't think it was face mask. It was hands to the face they called. They called the face. I know they got him ragged. Who we where is he? He's way down, I think,

let me see, I'm let me I'm kidding. I'm he's eighth grade A is lower than Northwelles though and Ryan Kelly. Who played better Ryan Kelly or for Linda. I don't say Coot. Yeah, he hasn't ahead of They haven't a head of Ryan Kelly significantly, by the way. And then the tackles, because I know you love the tackles. Who's the highest rank Jaguars tackle? I was a camp It is Cam Robinson at right right behind Costanzo. Yeah. And then let's see how far down you did you think

that Juwan struggled. I he's one of the bottom. He's one of the bottom guys in the league. But yesterday, yeah I would. I mean, he wasn't great on the back side. It wasn't. It was not his best game. But I'll say this, the Norwell one really bothers me because I thought he was outstanding. I thought he was better in quittin Nelson and he was much better than Glinski. It wasn't close. You take offense to the PFF grades. That's why it's so fun to do him, and he

asked for it. I'll say this, outside of the nor Well, I can't argue much. I mean those like and by the way, I didn't watch every other game, so I have no other idea. How the other guards or tackles or centers played. Um, so all right, okay, okay outside norwell, yeah, I'm okay. What it means you great out that this should be interesting? Do I want to know? I'm curious about Minshew? And I'm curious about C. J. Henderson. Yes, Henderson a day eleven that Yeah, but Rogers was one.

Wilson was too, Lamarke. It's hard to argue Kirk Cousins. Okay, here's how stupid this is. Kirk Cousins had a better grade than Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers two for three sixty and four Philip Rivers had grade the Minshew? How's that when you threw two picks that cost you the game? I don't know? All right? And who's the other one you wanted? T? J. Henderson? And how is Kirk Cousins? How is Kirk Cousins the head of Aaron Rodgers with

Kirk Cousins had like ten yards passing in the first half? Yeah, it's done, all right, Let's see where C. J. Henderson is he is? Yeah, I'm going scrolling and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. Unless I missed him? Where is he? Um? I must have missed him. You can go control F and find it on there. There he is. He's the second best corner in the dusterday. Yeah, that sound right? All right? So Tony heard? What about heard? And where was the guy? Where's the where is the guy? He

replaced Jalen in that list? Uh, which is interesting because Jalen did some good things last night, but he also got beat a couple of times. Jalen is where is Jalen? I don't. I don't see him in the top fifties. Gotta be well, maybe they know, yeah, because they got that. They do because they got them the other Chargers players on it. Let me see, I mean the other Brahms players on it. He might not be in the top fifty on this Wow, p f F Let me sit back with a vengeance and c J. Anderson was too

like second to say. But here's my problem with those um these p f T grains like Pete, I didn't watch the game when I saw highlights, you probably watched the game. Would there be any gm an he coached, any fan, any earlier, any kid, any doctor, anyone in the world that would after watching the Vikings Packers games say I'm gonna take Kirk Cousins over Aaron Rodgers. No, No, Like then, how does he have a higher grade than

Aaron Rodgers? Don't get it. I don't understand it. I don't see Ramsey on the first he has to be there, he is, He's I missed him my dead so too for Henderson, four for Ramsey. We should keep it running great and see where they end up. It's true, do you think Miles Jack raided? Well, I would think Miles Jack will be Yeah, they missed the tackle early in

the game, right, we didn't wrap up. Yeah, But if so, like if you do all the linebackers, it's three linebackers, thirty two teams, it's ninety six linebackers, I would say he's in the top twenty. He's twelve, Yeah, schober schober was right behind him. Schobert was sixteen. Yeah. I thought they well, pretty good, pretty good. So young defense, young defenders getting some recognition. Pretty that. There's something you didn't think you'd be saying after week one? How does how

does Kirk Cousins ahead of Like? It bothers me because this is why it bothers me, because like you now have like people like looking at this and like really making determinations of what kind of player a guy is, and I don't think anyone. I don't think so. Kirk Cousins was what ranked number one yesterday? Uh no, he was like four or five. Here's one. He was like, I'll tell you the second, but here's one. Just going through it real quick. Jared Wilson significantly ranked higher than Joe.

I wonder why Jones was really good in the run game. And I didn't have taken issues in the past game either. No, I don't you wanted quarterbacks. You said, let's see the quarterbacks. It was okay, it's hard to argue with. I'm sorry. Rodgers was one. What are you talking about, Kirk president, There was a different different Rodgers was one. Cousins was right behind him, though, just watching the whole watching Pete do this is like watching um an old guy at

a restaurant read a menu or something like. I mean, this is crazy. No, he was one. The Rodgers was one, but it was okay. But it shouldn't even be close though, if you watch that game, there's no way they should be close. Long story short, Pete ruined the segment right there with this misinformation he gave us. But the good news is young players for the Dead Wars showed up defense and they got it wrong. On Norwell becaid that it's all good. Let's come back. We're done with the

PF segment for today. Um Tony asked for it and he got it. It's a mistake, JP. Please forgive me. There was a mistake by me. I didn't know Pete was gonna sit there, look at the screen and read they gotta they got a new um uh wait did they do that? It's harder to find, it's harder control F. You can search things on a computer. No, you can't on this, I promise you back in a moment. Social questions. I don't know. It's the Jaguars Happy Hour, the Jaguars

They're like, okay, you know, you know where are we at. You know, let's just get settled down, you know, let's try to see who's gonna make a play to change the momentum. Let's not panic. Um, you know we're gonna get better as this game goes along. Those are kind of the thoughts,

Gena that we're going through my mind. What never crossed my mind was that we weren't gonna be able to withstand whatever happened, whether they scored again or you know, we're able to stop him or whatever it may be. Because I go back to you know, it's you know, the type of team. You know that these guys you know that we have and you know we need to continue to to be that way during the course of

the season. And Coach Dug Marone that was today, in fact his Monday press conference and welcome back Jaguars happy ur j P. Shadwick from the studio at the stadium. The first time in a long time, Pete first go down in South Florida. Tony Wasselly in parts known and by the way, the Jaguars today made a roster move. Jared Wilson, the safety with a hamstring injury, is on the reserve injured list now and cornerback Sydney Jones, the fourth has come up from the practice squad at third

year corner. Uh. They've signed a couple of players to the practice squad at cornerback Josh Nurse and running back Craig Reynolds, and released rookie cornerback of Mary Henderson from the practice squad. But yeah, the biggest news today Wilson with a hamstring issue on the reserve injured list and Sydney Jones is now on the active roster. Um who starts, Yeah, probably Wingered because he came in and made the pick and he was the guy on the field when when

Wilson went down. He's been around and I hate, I mean, I hate to see Jared Wilson getting hurt. I'm not sure how big a drop off that is is With Andrew Wingers out there. I think he I think he played well at the end of last year and I think obviously stepped in play great with interception. I think he has a chance to be pretty good player. One last pff thing, Um, all three Jaguars defensive vents or deep pass rushers grated out if you can't smooth his

one grated out higher than in Goquay? Did wow about that? Okay? Then um, let's go to the social questions, Tony's favorite segment of each and every show. We'll start off with. Then we're gonna go down to Argentina to get us go on today about that Wako Guarina. Did we improve on stopping the running or did the Colts not run a lot? In Argentina we only have red zones, so I couldn't watch more than highlights. If so, who's to congratulate the defense, Todd Wash any player in particular, or

do you blame the Colts o c um? I think they did improve. I mean earlier was it was not very good, but the Colts tried to run. Now I think the injury of Marlon Mack didn't help the situation. UM. I do think Frank Wright could have gone to Jonathan Taylor war in the second half and tried to establish a run. I thought they got a little pass happy with with Philip rivers Um, but the Jaguars defense greatly improved.

It's I thought the linebackers were outstanding. I thought Hamilton the rookie UM he played limited snaps, but he's a big, physical guy that does not get moved out very easily. And I thought he was good against the run. Had a huge stop on third and short situation, shedding the block of Kelly let me just throw them through them to the side um and made a nice play. So I think it was And then the linebacker play was

much better. We've talked about that. I think Shoberg and that going to mic linebacker, having moving Miles jack Will was really good stuff. And uh and they played well, but I think the Colts played into their hands, though I was. I was astounded that the Colts didn't come in there and blast the run game. I really was, And you mentioned it when Matt went out. I still thought they would use Taylor and run them inside a lot more than they did. I agree you, Tony. They

were a little too pass happy. Uh, and look they went down the field twice to open the games. So whatever they were doing, you think it's working. And it should have been fourteen nothing but it wasn't. But I thought they got away from the run. But the run defense was better. You mentioned that played by Hamilton's I mean he should that's a good center. He threw him the side and made a down the line and made

the play. I thought Abray Jones on that fourth and short beat quit Nelson threw him to the side, made the play. I thought those guys played much better. And you mentioned the linebackers were much more active. Let's go to our next question from at STU Underscore winners and this is from the United Kingdom. So we're all over the world. International are going worldwide. It's all sunshine and

rainbows this victory Monday. Do you think reality will hit in about four or five weeks time when teams start to get the book on how the offense is running. Note the if you're watching the British spelling of offense. Also, how concerned should we be about injuries given the depth in the team. Um, listen, here's what I said this morning. Enjoy it. Enjoy this week. Why are you worried about four or five weeks from now? You know, like start, I mean we can we'll talk about the Titans here

in a little bit. But I told all the fans this morning JP on the show, the quick hit I do in the morning is be arrogant, stick your chest out, put your heads up high, and say, hey, we want to know we're leading the division, and uh, you know what we want? We beat the Colts and you know we're the we're the best team in the NFC South right now, like like that's like enjoy it, Like let's not you know, we'll analyze it, will break it down, and you gotta look at it and have something and

be realistic. But at the same time, as a fan, enjoy it. Who cares about four or five weeks from now? Who knows what's gonna happen. I mean literally, you can sit wake up in a couple of weeks and all the starting quarterbacks and the rest of the division are hurt or out or their best players are out, and you're healthy and then you're sitting pretty so it's too early to tell. Yeah, look, you want a game you

probably shouldn't have won, um, but you want it. You came back it was probably gonna be fourteen nothing, and you found a way to come back from that because you had a nice stop and you quarterback played well. But you look inside the numbers and there has to be concerned. I understand what the guy is saying, But again, Tony's right, you won a game. You probably shouldn't have

won the game if you won the game. And by the way the question, I'm not saying it's a bad question, and the way he's trying to break it down, that's fair. I'm just saying, four or five weeks when I have no idea what I'll go back to what I said at the beginning of the year, like when I said this team could win eleven games and people were laughing at me, and I get why, But I said, what happens if Gardner minshow takes a step and plays really well.

What if this young receiving corps that is the real deal and you get stuff out of Salt and and uh uh and Colin Johnson and and you know, DJ Chart continues to improve, and what if it happens of show Bert's right guy, Mile Jack and then Josh Allen ends up being the fifteen sack guy. I mean, things can go your way and then you get lucky. Like we all forget in seventeen, the reason this team was, you know, got to the NFC Championship Game and then was a couple of players away from going to the

Super Bowl. Is a lot of balls bounced their way that year, turnovers and everything else. It worked out and sometimes as people, you'll agree there are teams every year that just get the bounces their way, and guys play at high level and it just goes their way and they it might not be sustainable, but you can do it for a year. Two things real quick? Uh does this change how you think about them? Or does it

change how you think about the Colts um both? For me, Like I'm like Philip Rivers, like you never had the strongest arm, but I thought behind that line that he'd be able to drive the ball a little bit better. I mean he fluttered some out there, Pete. They didn't test the Jaguars deep, not once did they go deep to t Y Hilton, Like am I why aren't you testing the Jags down the field? Nothing vertical? And the defense and the defense which I thought would take step

forward because they have a lot of young guys. Didn't look that good to me. So I'm a little bit down on the Colts and I'm I'm higher on the Jags because of the way the young players played. And here's the other thing. Am I pronouncing Chenault's name wrong? Is it Sonalt? Okay? You called him so for about three or four weeks now, chant am I wrong? Jp? I might have noticed that in weeks past. I did not notice that tonight? Did you take? He is the

middle linebacker? Joe Sober too? Really, you want to talk abou about pronunciation because there's a couple of guys you still don't know who's the backup tackle last year? Stef should know where's he playing in the league? By the way, the backup tackle nowhere? Yeah, I don't think so. Next question at Jacob Reinhart one, is our team legitimately more efficient now that we cut talented players? Also? Do you all three hang out all the time when it's not

covid um all the time? No? That's an easy Tony and Tony and JP live about two or three miles away from each other and never hang out. Hang out. I hang out with Tony at the Super Bowl because I live in Fort Lauderdale. When he's when he's begging me to get him into the Hall of Fame. So I'll let you know. Jp uh spent Thanksgiving last year with the family. Christmas, Christmas, actually you felt sorry for Christmas? Or Christmas? Was Christmas? I can't remember Christmas, Christmas Christmas?

Pat about that Christmas you felt sorry for lonely boy. I did not JPS my friend and I appreciated the gesture. It was very nice, very warm, and and I could actually say the last time I saw Tony and then nice dinner. We had a nice dinner, supposed to be a celebration dinner, and it was. It really wasn't It was fun, it was a good time. You had the best attitude of you had the best attitude. One of the best things I've ever seen somebody say in that

kind of situation. I look around the room, I got friends, I got my great family. If not getting into the Hall is the worst thing that happens to me in my life, it's been a hell of a life. And then I almost got Then I was in hospital a couple of months. A month later really make really makes you appreciate what was the second part of that question. Let's pull it back up. Brent Weber, esteemed producer. Is

it more efficient now that we've cut talented players? Okay, but like I want to go through that Okay, So um, I think the biggest so we traded in Gockway, Like would you would you like in gock Way to be here? Yes, but like he didn't want to be here. That too much water under the bridge that was over, so they traded him. Um My, guesses they're talking about Leonard Fournette. I'll ask the question. I already said, I think Robinson is better. I'm not taking shots at Leonard Fournette, nothing

against him, but Pete thinks he's better. J P. Who would you pick right now? I mean the I test doesn't lie, right, I mean from yesterday, Robinson's the choice. The other the other one we got rid of was Harrison Josh Jones. I don't think, said like, I don't think they got rid of guys, and then we're settling for less talented players. The only one like you could argue the clayest thing, And how do you play yesterday?

I have no idea how Yes, I think he almost at one and like I love class, and I could argue that that was a mistake the ritic class. At the same time, they went out and got al Woods and Rodney Gunner, whose they thought were younger and gunter and the more of a run stopper in al Woods that would make them better than instead of having two of them, instead of paying fifteen million dollars for Class.

Now you can argue that one way or another. Um, but I'm not gonna kill him for it, Like even if I would have kept class, I'm not gonna kill him for that move. Like somebody about to tell me, because I mean, I don't know what I agree agree with. Yeah, what player they get rid of and set him for a less a less uh less talented player, maybe a less named player, but not less talented. Oh well, and they got Ramsey, but they got two first round picks for okay, right, I mean, like they put a graphic up.

You guys probably didn't see it because it was on the CBS game, but they had a graphic up and it showed six guys from the defense, including an included a J Boy and years No, see, Henderson is better than the a J Boy. Well, but that's not You're you're replacing, You're replaced. Technically you're replacing Jalen with C. J. Henderson,

and Herndon is replacing boy. Herdon is every bit of you know, maybe that is doesn't have the top end stuff, but like more solid, like Harndon, the solid football player. So who they who they missed in that group? Who who's the replace? When that guy asked the question, who's he talking about? I don't know. I don't see him. All right, fair enough, let's go to the next question from Dan underscore man cuzo, how can they improve shutting down screen passes that they seem to be constantly getting

burned by. Yeah, that's a couple of things. I mean, sometimes you get caught in the wrong defense. I mean in you're in you know, tough defense, tough situation. I think a lot of it's it's reading recognition, and so the defense allot me have to read the screen and we'll go back and replace and start chasing from the back end. And as really your linebacker level and your safeties were facing um, especially if you're not in man man, if you're in zone coverage, you have to you have

to populate the area. You have to recognize and get there. You need more defenders than blockers they have out there, um to be effective. But the screens are gonna play. I mean, teams have a lot of success in this league with the screen and and and on that screen. On the one that Heim scored on, Shobert, like we said, was covering the tight end down the middle. But it looked at me like like you you said, Tony, the defensive lineman didn't feel it. They didn't they kept going,

they didn't feel it. Sometimes you just don't feel me. The offensive line does a good job of selling it and like you get caught. Um. But it's definitely something they need to improve on. I mean, I think the the question is a good question and something they have to improve on. They need to work on. All right, let's get one final question in let's go from a no toes down. Well, what did you see from the team yesterday that looks like it can be a sustainable

string moving forward? I mean, I think the running back James Robinson, I think the offensive line played well. I think they're gonna get better. I think the receiving corps is young and good. Um. And I like the linebackers, you know, you know, like linebacker level UH has improved over last year, and I think Miles Jack going to will linebacker, and I'm very interested to see what our young players do around Josh Allen and Chase on Russian

the pastor. I think they need to get better, but I think they have better opportunities against a quarterback that holds it a little bit and a less talented offensive line. And then how can you not be excited at what you saw on C. J. Henderson. So a lot of pieces, um that you love to see. They're gonna have to, you know, the challenge for a young team is consistency. Can they do it week in and week out? And

that's gonna be the challenge for him. I'm gonna reserve judgment on all of it until we see what these guys do when they go on the road, um next week, and and see what that's like. Again, you talk about the linebackers playing well, and that Will let's see him tackle the big back where they have a tackle about a decade, um, let's see him handle that. I think the receivers have a chance to be a really good group, but they're young. Let's see when they go out on

the road and see what those guys do. But there's optimism. What's the strong point of the team right now? What would you say is the strength of the Jacksonville Jaguars team right now? Tony can't. I would probably lean towards the offensive line or the receiving corps, Yeah, it's right, or the two linebackers. Well, so we'll see how they play when they get thumped a little bit. Yeah. So there you have our look around social media. Thanks for

the questions and the submissions. We'll do it again next Monday. Here on the show. We're back in a moment though, and we'll go around the a f C South and touch on what the division has done in week one or is going to do tonight, and we'll start out to look around the National Football League as well. and someone that I wasn't. And I think because the way after the first care I was like, Okay, we're in and now I mean, yes, the first Unfold game, but after that first place, it's that's to go home. Now you gotta play. So I just went out there

and be myself. From the East West Shrine game to starting week one as an undrafted rookie in the National Football League, the fourth player of all time is started running back as an under after rookie in week one, and the first and thirty years to do it, Welcome back Jaguar's Happy Hour. That was James Robinson, I'm j P, Shadrick, Pete, Priscoe, Tony was Sally with us, our entire crew and he by the way, check out the was the last one to do with Who's the last one to do with?

Doug Cootar sounds right? Yeah? I think it was h J P or Pete whoever knows this? Um, why was he not drafted? What was the like? What was the speed? Speed? The speed? He was a four six guy. I think I had something to do with it, a lot to do with it, actually, So he blew it. Yeah, I mean it's literally crazy when you think about it in college and in the lower level, but forty yards, I think forty four touchdowns. He has the numbers obviously to

dominate that level. And obviously he's he's got something here as well, which is a good sign. Moving to Hey, let's go around. By the way, check out the ozone podcast presented by Vistar. This week, Johnny sat down with Avery Jones, a veteran defensive tackle, ahead of last week's game. It's available on the podcast network presented by Vicetar, or the podcast page on Jaguars dot Com. It's always an interesting visit with Avery. He's he's a fantastic conversation, so

check him out. He's the longest tenure Jaguar currently. He was undrafted here and has been here since. That's pretty amazing. That's pretty amazing when you think about it. He's been there for which is what eight years ago and the Longest's amazing, it really is. There are four eighth year players on this team. By the way, those are the oldest players on the roster in terms of years of experience in the NFL. Now, we've talked about this before though that again again I'm gonna go back to what

I said last week. It's a good situation for this team to be building something. It really is. If you all those contributions from young guys, Now what about next year when you and then you have all those draft picks and the money to spend as be as long as Gardner Minshoo is the guy, not the guy nobody. If you don't have a quarterback, then you have still have issues. But again, if he if he threw let's just say projected out, if he threw forty eight touchdown

passes this year, three per game that he is the guy. No, I'm not saying he's not. I'm just saying you said all these great things. I agree with you as long as you have a quarterback, right, And I hope Gardner minshoes that guy. Trust me. Let me ask you this, Tony, though, If he threw forty eight touchdown passes and played the exact same way he did Sunday, does that prove to you he's the guy? I mean, how could it not. I mean, there's but even in that scenario, there's still

a little reservation though. Well, like I kept on thinking about, yes, and we said this a few weeks ago. Could he be a Chad Pennington type of guy who's never gonna wow you with his arms drinks? But it's a good enough athlete and so smart and just get you in the right situation and puts the ball where it needs to be. And Chad Pennington took him to the SC championship game. But did he have sustainable success? I mean he made a few playoff games. Yeah, and he threw

the ball down the field more than Minshew did yesterday. Sure, forty eight touchdown passes and he plays exactly like he played yesterday. You're still not convinced, don't tell me you are. He's got a stuck out the ball down the field. I said, I would be forty eight touchdowns yards on the season. Yeah, year, no completions over thirty yards. He starts with the red zone every time. It's amazing. Let's go around the a f C South and start off with the Houston Texans who fell flat in Kansas City

Thursday night. The great sports writer in Houston is John McClay, and he said on Twitter that the Texans stayed in the locker room for the anthem and they should have just stayed there. How about that? Well, they were bad and and by the way, Deshaun Watson wasn't very good. And I'm I'd be concerned if I were the Texas because I thought that team they couldn't rush the pastor that well, where was J. J. Watty made a couple of plays that said, who else rushes the pastor the

secondary isn't good? And you know, Watson struggled until junk time at the end of the game. I'd be conservative by with the Texas. I don't think they're very good. Well, first of all, J. J. Watt was going to be the best, one of the best writing tackles on football mental short but j J does not have the power he wanted to be. All those back injury, you'ren to catch up with you. So I agree with you on the defensive end. Um, Yeah, but they're also playing the Chiefs,

who were the best team they have seen me. So did you expect them to win? No? But I expect to the offense to be better. I think that. I think I never understood why they got rid of Beyander Hopkins. Obviously he didn't want to be there. I guess either, but they're not. They miss him, I'll say that much.

When they're gonna have to pay him what they Arizona pay him right and and pay the quarterback at some point the door the Colts, of course, we saw them firsthand yesterday lost to the Jaguars, and the Titans play in ten for tonight. We'll preview that game coming up. But let's get your a FC South power rankings quickly here guys, Joe Pete, I'll put, well, how how do you do with the Titans not playing a game yet? You got you gotta make it, Tom. I don't think

the Titan you're winning tonight. So uh Jacksonville one too? Uh Titans three in Texas four? How about that? I'm going I mean, listen, I said that Jaguars were uh were two or three last week? They moved up to the number one spot. The Jags Titans, they're tougher than the Colts, and I don't think the toughness of the Colts. I was not impressed with Colts three Texans four? Have you really don't think? You really don't think the Jaguar is the best team in the division. Don't tell me? Ye?

Power ranks maybe unbelievable by the way the Texans play the Ravens this week. Are they going on and do? Yes? Wow, let's come back in a moment. We'll recap all the games around the National Football League in Week one and preview Monday Night Football a double header. Tonight, it's Jaguars Happy Hour on the Jaguars Digital Network. Hi. Shadrick Pete, Prisco, Tony Boselli. Let's go around the National Football League in Week one, will quickly hit as many of the games as we can. The Seahawks beat the Falcons thirty eight. Russell Wilson had himself a day. Pete, Yeah, he was phenomenal. And the best thing about it is they allowed him to throw early and often and dictate Temple. I think they need to do that. They're not the same Seahawks. Their defense isn't nearly as good. So uh, he was given the opportunity to do so and he

did it. Kudos to him. Mean, is he the best quarterback in the NFL right now? No, Mahomes is, I think Listen, I'm not saying not, but I could argue you know, if Russell Wilson had Mahomes talent around him on offense, it might be a different story. Yeah, I still take Mahomes. Okay, sorry, Ravens over the Browns. What were gonna say? I would say the fact that Pete is even considering Russell Wilson to being one of the best quarterbacks in the league is amazing. We're five years ago.

But no, I thought he was overrated and and a product of the defense and running game, and he was. He's become a much better player. There you go. Given credit where credit is due. Ravens over the Browns thirty eight to six, All Ravens, all dap the Browns. That's a that's a disaster that day. I mean, they were terrible on defense, terrible and for a team that was supposed to change the culture and change this sure didn't look like it. And now they got the Bengals coming

in on a short week on Thursday. I'm doing that game. I'm looking forward to seeing Joe Burrow. I know we're not but look good and had a chance to win the game and they should well he threw it. He thren, he threw the winning touchdown and they got called back on a passenger parents. You know what I'm saying. But you know, and it's funny. I was at the game three years ago and Baker Mayfield came in with Tyrod Taylor and everyone thought, we got our save here, we

got our quarterback. Oh yeah, yeah. After last year in the opening day this weekend, you're starting to hear things that You're starting to hear things out of Cleveland. Is he the right guy? And is he who's the best quarterback a side not named Lamar Jackson out of that draft class? Josh Allen, here you go. Now you're your own. Yeah. Speaking of the Bills, they knocked off the Jets seventeen and Allen had a pretty good day. It was really good. He fumbled twice and he runs too much too. I

you know how I am about running quarterbacks. I still think he runs too much, but he was much better. They're good the Bills. The Jets are awful. I mean, that's a bad football. They do Adam Gates naked through the season. I don't think so. I mean when you look at the roster, though Tony, that rosters puts that, I don't think any coach could win with that crap. It's bad. Bad team. I feel bad with him, uh,

I mean Donald? Yeah, Donald? Sorry. I was like, you're thinking Andy Dalman, Sam Donald, because I think he's a good quarterback. I mean when they finished the season last year six and two, he didn't played well. He played well in the second half of the season. He has no receivers, he has nothing. The line's young. It's bad for bad situation. Southern col love there. The Raiders over the Panthers thirty. This was a good football game to

be back and forth. Yeah, and you know what, You're gonna see a lot of offense from the Panthers because their defense is so young, and they're gonna give up a ton of points and and the Raiders defense isn't quite there yet either. The Raiders, I give credit. They won that game, and they came from behind to do it. Bears over the Lions Tree. How about those Bears all of a sudden, Well what about the Lions as two years in a row that they had a seventies sixty

point lead the fourth quarter and blew it. I mean Stafford through an interception with two forty left or two he left and gave the Bears an opportunity to come down and take the lead, and then he throws a touchdown pass that hit Swift in the face and he dropped at the ends and they would have won the game. The Lions are one of those franchises. They're just cursed franchise that's not very good. Well, they haven't been good

for decades. How do they break the curse? Then Pete win games, you're supposed to win there at home, and you gotta leave the fourth quarter and you let them come back. Mr Bisky came back, and it's all you need to know. I wonder what started the curse? You know, the Socks have the curse of the Bambino forever. What started the Lions curse? Probably Bobby Lane way back in the day. Backers over the Vikings for thirty four, Big

day for Aaron Rodgers. All the talk about Aaron Rodgers being washed up and done and all the crap I took last week were saying they were the second best team in the league. And everybody came at the from every media outlet in the world. All I did is I sent out a tweet yesterday I said, because Aaron Rodgers was on fire, the Vikings have problems. Big problems are the biggest issues. Defense. They were terrible yesterday. Terrible. They could stop him. He threw lasers. They had guys.

If Martz, Marquess, Valdes Scanley could have held on the boy, he would have two more long touchdowns. Why open, Let's get through a few of these non existent non existent Wow, how about that. Let's get through a few of these other games. Patriots over the Dolphins eleven and hey, Cam Newton can still run the football. The football team of Washington knocked off the Eagles seventeen chargers of the Bengals. We mentioned that one sixteen Saints beat the Bucks four.

Net had five carries for five yards in that football game. He bounced, He tried to bounce a couple and you know how that goes. It wasn't a good look um. By the way, Tom Brady did not look great. They gotta get it pick pick it up. They gotta get it going, and they'll by the way, they'll blow out They'll blow out Carolina this week. They'll probably scored forty by the way. In the Saints are the best, maybe the best team in the ANC. And that defense is

really good. They played well. The defense. G Norris Jakes had a fix six. He's one of those guys that when you're things are going well, he's gonna play well. The Cardinals over the Niners and the Rams. On Sunday Night Football, Chris and their new stadium with a win over the Dallas Cowboys seventeen time. Now for Monday Night Football, it's a kickoff weekend doubleheader starting at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands. Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers meet Daniel

Jones and the New York Football Giants. And then we had a mile high where Derrick Henry leads the Tennessee Titans against quarterback Drew Lock and the Von millerless Denver Broncos. Who you got tonight? Guys? What do you laugh at that? Tony? It's my favorite. I look forward to this every week. My favorite part of the whole show. Right there, JP like spouting off of the music behind them, like yeah, I like that. I Actually I forgot who's even playing.

It's the Steelers talking about the Steelers. The Steelers are gonna win by three touchdowns and Giants aren't Giants big time defensive problems. I want to see Roethlisberger, That's what I want to see. Yeah, and I think, like, I know you're gonna pick the Broncos. I'm not sold on the Broncos. I ain't the Titans going there punch them in the mouth. I think, running right down to their throats.

I'm like, listen, Drew Lock, I gotta see more. Yeah, if if Courtland Sutton was a definite go and they didn't have the Von Miller injury, They're still gonna win. I'm a Drew lock I. I think the Broncos win that game. I think the Titans of the two thousand and seventeen Jaguars. We'll find out starting tonight. That's the Monday Night Slate Tonight. The Jaguars are in first place in the MC South. Guest Tony quickly just say so, there's no question Jags will go to Tennessee and win

next week. What say you? Let me let me see the Titans tonight, then I'll tell you they're not winning a chick. They never win in Tennessee. They're not winning at Tennessee. Stopping hey, well, this week they've lost sixth straight in Tennessee and they've only won six times all time in Nashville. Maybe they can buck that trend this week. Pete Tony will talk to you next week. Prior Tire Crew. I'm JP Shadrick. It's Jaguars Happy Hour on the Jaguars Digital Network.
