Celebrating twenty five years of Jaguar's football that could never happen. When you're taking a knee, the game is ooh, that was cheap. Five to Seattle. It is Monday, November. This is Jaguars. Jaguars happening always ended by Hey, now, a guy who wants you to know the only pold that matters is the CBS Bowl j Peace, What does that mean? I have no idea? Why does my headset sound all weird? I don't know? I have no does yours? The season ended yesterday? What are we doing a show for? What
is going on? Pete didn't and we got five to go? Baby, this is Jaguars is happy Hour. I'm JP Shaddrick, Tony was Sally to my left. You are right, Pete Brisco. This to our south in Fort Lauderdale. And here's what's coming up on the show today. We'll recap Jaguars losing again for the final score in Nashville yesterday, the run defense or lack thereof again, inconsistent offense. Five games to go, now what we'll get some social media questions and yes, sir,
we got some doozies. Today. We'll go around the division and around the National Football League. That's all coming up. That's the show. Doug Marone after the game yesterday in Nashville, trying to get things right the rest of the way. At the end of the day, I told the players the same thing. I'm gonna tell you. It's gonna be the same questions. You know about jobs, switching quarterbacks, changes
players and all that stuff. And you know, I still believe I don't know what happens in this slave, but we're gonna work our ass off to get this team right somehow, some way. That's the job. Um, put your head down on my pist. Yes am I embarrassed, Yes I am that, and and I'm not speaking for anyone else. You're gonna have to tell them, but I promised them that I am going to do a better job and I'm gonna work my butt off to get this thing right. All right. That's set the stage for the week ahead
and for the month ahead for this Jaguars team. Three consecutive losses, but I combined a hundred one to thirty six to division rivals, and I think it's the first time that uh, we've lost three division games since two thousand and the first time in the history to row three in a row, and the first time in the history of the franchise that we've lost three in a row by a margin of there was a it was a close call in the fifteen where they had twenty
plus twenty plus and the nineteen that's the next closest, Nicky, I feel pretty good about our expansion team now, I mean compared to this mess. Well, there's no way to sugarcoat it. I mean it's a it's not very good right now. The team isn't very good. It's bad football. And you have to look at every level of the organization on the football side, so starting with Tom, Dave, Doug, and it's their responsibility. I mean, at the end of the day, that's where that's what they were hired to do.
And right now it's not going very well. It's not good enough. It's uh, it's well beal, it's well below good enough. Doug said it, Dougs called it. I think Doug's been very honest and transparent. Um, it'll be interesting to see what happens and what decisions are made. And uh, and it is it's not good right now. I mean there's I'm looking looking for and I missed her like, hey, like figure out there's opportunity. You know, you're never out
of it, and you know that. Someone asked me to days, like, well you were four and seven and nine. I said, that's not even close to the same situation. Number one in Nix. This team was losing close games. This team was not we trust me. I was in the locker room in ninety six. We weren't talking about the playoffs at four and seven. We're worried about, like how do we win a game? And so that's where you have
to go back to. If you're this team, it's like like forget everything else, Like the playoffs are such a pipe dream right now, and so like inconsequential, why would you even mention it? That's my point, Like I mean, like response to what people asking, like, it doesn't matter. You gotta win a football game. You gotta win a football Game's over. It's over. The thing as you knew it two weeks ago during the bye week is over, the whole thing, all the way across the board. It's done.
It's over. What do you mean, what's it's over? They're gonna be major sweeping changes they're coming. It's done. But like number one. You don't know that. Oh come on, Tony, you know that. I don't. I don't know that, like the only person. Two more games the rest of the way. Two more and that's being generous, Pete. I have no idea what's gonna happen. Here's this is what I do know. I knows I don't know. I know this that Tom Coughlin was hired to run the football side of this business.
There's two people. Mark Lamping runs the business side. He's responsible for what happens on that side. I'm Conflin is responsible before it happens on the football side of this organization. You know that, I don't know what Tom's gonna do. I I think Tom might just walk away. That's just a hunch. I don't know why, but I just have a hunch. I don't know what he's gonna do. But it's his responsibility. That's what he was hired to do. Two.
Build a winning organization, win football games, compete for the NFC title, getting the playoffs, and give yourself a chance every year to go win a Lombardi Trophy. That's the that's the that's that's what that's what we at the end of the day. This organization is here to win football games, and that's what you do in the NFL. And so I don't know what Tom's gonna do. Well, maybe Tom's not gonna be the one making the decision, but he but he is. It's his job, that's what
he was hired to do. But maybe he's not gonna be around to make the decision. Maybe they all go. I don't know that I'm saying right now where we sit today, what we do know, Pete, is Tom Coughlin is in charge and it is his job responsibility. Whatever you want to say to what happened, whatever happens on the football side, that's okay, But that's coaching. That's no. I'm not I'm telling you what a the fact is today. Look, I have nothing but the us most respect for Tom Coughlin.
The list came out the other day, the twenty greatest coaches, and he wasn't on it and infuriated me. There's no way that Tony Dungee should be on any list ahead and Tom Coughlin, Tom Coffin will go into the Hall of Fame, and I can't wait to sit there front and center to see him do it. Probably, how is How is Tom won two Super Bowls? How is he not ahead of I don't know. And I love Tony Dungee, but Tom was a better coach Tony dung any one too. So that's a here, that's an a side, that's an aside.
What's going on in this organization right now? There is not enough talent to win and that Tom Gofflin's job. And so that's what How did it turns so quickly? Though? Because they had talent a couple of years ago. Yeah, two years ago they had town, but the majority of the talent, if you look at it too much of was free agent talent that changes quickly. You overpay you um and if you go back to Seen, which I love, it was such a fun year. But we said it
on this show it was not repeatable. That you cannot count on winning football games that way in the division you played for Your four division wins were against second and third string quarterbacks. I mean that's yeah, I mean that's the reality when you're built that way. It's not sustainable. Ever, I don't care if you beat beat the first quarterbacks. Notable. But my point is, I agree with my whole point.
Was it a perfect storm? It was perfect. Story wasn't repeatable, and that's fine that happened, but to say that you can count on that is not accurate. And you had a situation where you had a number of free agents that were signed. And give credit to Tom and Dave. They signed him that had all time career years and it worked out. But from that team, let's just go through it. Gibson's gone, had a great year, Barry Church has gone, had a great year, Marcel Darius is on
i R. Malie Jackson gone had a great year. Plays Campbell's two years older, and he's not playing like you used to. A j boy older, not playing the way. Jalen Ramsey no longer on the team, Dante Faller no longer jack not playing well, but forget that, but Dante Faller no longer team uh twenty, Jalen Ramsey no longer on the team. Like the majority of that defense is even here and they carried this team well, and how many guys from the offensive side of the ball are
still here? Well, that offense is a whole different story. I mean, well, they were good, but how many guys from that offensive team are still contributors right now? Under lender Cam from net A j Can the receiving corps outside of uh no chart No. Calmly Ded was a role player. Uh Keelan Cole was on that team. He had an impactful year. Marquis is gone. I don't know who. I can't remember the Marcedes Lewis is gone. Um who's a key blocker? So what does that fall? Is it
falling time? Does it falling Dave? Does it fall on the coach? It's that because there's always gonna be turnover on your roster, particularly if you go out and get the older guys like that. No, but but but it's a fair question. So where it falls it falls on. I mean it's Tom's responsibility at the end of the day. Yes, he's he's the boss. No different, like no different. If something happens on the business side, it's like Mark Lamping,
he's the boss. And that's just the way I mean, they they're they signed up for it, that's what they were hired to do. And and so you have to go back and when you you miss on draft picks and you go through free agency, this this happens, and so all of a sudden you start having holes in the roster and it's hard to fill them, because we said this last week. And Pete, you've been covering this league as long as I played it for a team in National now and you've covered it for the Times
Union before I even got here. Yeah, and if you look at it, the successful teams build through the draft and sprinkling free agency. Yeah, they're best players are their draft picks, and especially they avoid bad usually in a lot of situations, they avoid terrible contracts. I mean, Okay, Tony, let's just say, for the sake of this whole conversation, you're taking over the Jacksonville Jaguars next year, right, You're
gonna take it over. Run it. The assets clearly are the two draft picks in the first round, big time assets. But go through that roster and tell me where the other assets are. Well, I think we have good I think I think Josh Allen's is gonna be a heck of a player. Bingo. I'll tell you if I agree with your dog. I think, uh, I think Jannique is a very good pass rusher. What do you do with him? Though you have no you have a little cap room, and you gotta find a way to keep them. You
gonna pay him the big money. Just a tough situation. You have to make that decision. I'm not like one thing Pete number one. I'm not the GM, I'm not in charge. I'll go through where I see the assets. I'm not cutting like we do this every year. Unfortunately, I'm not cutting it. I'm not cutting you. I'm not doing I'm not cutting the team either, but I'm just telling where, okay, the assets. I think d J. Chark is a good player as an opportunity to be number one. UM.
I think Leonard four Nette in the right system. I mean, he's a power back, downhill guy. But you have to commit to say we're gonna have tight big tight ends and fullback on the roster because he would like he gets north and south and he has good hands out of the backfield, like he's an effective player. I think I'm gonna I'm not gonna argue that that's an asset. I think I thought he had an outstanding game yesterday. About a quarterback, I don't know if there's an asset
there or not. It might be an overprice, overpriced asset. It's gonna be. The quarterback situation is interesting to me because it's not like Nick Foles is played terrible by any means, and like it wasn't good yesterday. But here's my point. If Gardner minshe is in there, you're not winning the game by getting you give up two yards rushing, it's not gonna You're not gonna win. What did seven three at a half? And they've done nothing? Seven three?
So and this team struggled when Gardner was in there. The score points as well, but the who Gardener million dollars or whatever the pain is No. I'm bringing up the point of people saying, well, bench folds now and put Gardner like that's gonna fix everything that doesn't know. The bigger question is did they make a mistake by paying Folds? Well, I think you have five games to find out right now. As of right now after two games and im playing, what would your answer be? Way
too early to make that judgment. I'm not making judgment, but you can get an idea right now would be yes, they paid them too much, and and his attitude after the game. These to need some working on. But I mean, people, come on, man. The one thing that I want to be consistent here is we know you over paying free agency. You always do, so just say you paid too much.
It's just it's a stupid conversation. The question should be, because he's now your quarterback, he's on your roster, can you win and get to the Can you win the NFC South and get to the playoffs with Nick Foles your quarterback? That's the question you have to ask yourself, and you have to make that decision over the next five weeks. And are you built to pay them, pay them that money. They made the decision already in March. I'm not gonna debate, go back and debate whether it's
right or wrong. And we can go through and debate draft picks. We can do all that revisionist history. It's much easier to sit here and with you know, looking back, having vision. I'm saying, you asked me, sitting here today, looking forward, what decisions do you make? Nick Foles is on your team. He's going to be on your team next year because of the calf situation and how much you've paid him and guaranteed. And so the question now is you look forward and as you evaluate things, because
you can't go back and change it. It's not gonna it's impossible. And so you now have to evaluate the next five weeks and the question you have to answer and you have to make a decision. Can Nick Foles be your quarterback to win the a f C South, getting the playoffs and contend to win a Lombardi Trophy because that at the end of the day, that's all that matters. And what's the answer to that question. I'll tell you in five weeks. I don't know you have
an idea. Right now? We have five more shows to do. I mean, all the good stuff right now. Did you notice on the outthrow he made that the ball barely got there. It looked like he has no zip on the ball. I also saw an out route that had a lot of zip on it. But you know what's what I'm talking about. It was it looked like it was in the air for about six weeks. It was like I always like the same was a Hania balloon. Listen, Pete. I've been watching him for practice. He's coming off collar bone.
I don't know what the impact is. I mean, you have to ask the trainers, the coaching staff. He sees him every day and Fulls didn't say anything. They asked him about that after the game, he said, he's fine. I mean, it could have been. He also at times didn't look a couple from the pocket. His feet weren't always square. I mean it could be a number of things. You know that pete, that lower body can get in
the right position. Half the time is the battle and feeling confident where you want to go at the ball. We make it before we go to break the point I'm making JP and Tony is this lost in the how horrible the defense has been, and it has been horrible. Is the fact that he hasn't been that good period, end of story, in the two games that we have seen him. I would say he's average. That's it now. If you want to compare it to making the money he is, which I think is dangerous because he's now
on your roster. Fair is he a guy that is, you know, top ten quarterback in this league like he's getting paid. I don't think so either. We will delve into that a bit more a little bit later, the quarterback play and the play of the offense as a whole. But coming up next, we gotta get into this defense.
Yes we do. Two hundred nineteen rushing yards allowed. Most it plays on defense, meaning you know, obviously the naked naked to the quarterback, the over rouse to play action pass, um, you know, and and obviously the run. We thought we had a good tack on plan. Our three technique got
reached and um gave up the big run. We should still get him down at the forty our safeties, Um, obviously, you know, can do a better job there, Head coach jag Marone. Yesterday in Nashville after the Jaguars lost to the Tennessee Titans forty two twenty the final score and welcome back to Jaguars Happy Hour presented by Jet Home Loans, j P Shadrick, Tony Vaselli, Pete Brisco are breaking it
all down and we go to the Jaguars defense. Yesterday two nineteen rushing yards allowed in the game, third consecutive game allowing over two hundred rushing yards. Derrick Henry has another highlight real type of day with a seventy four yard score with the draw strings bouncing around, their hair, flying out on the back of his helmet, stiff arm and guys down the sideline again and we talked about it all week, guys like you gotta stop Henry and can they do it? Well, they proved they could not
do it again three straight games. So is this um is that it's over? Is that over six yards and three games? That's that's tough? Um? It's little litterally literally unheard of in Jaguar's history. Yeah, I mean you watched the tape and I watched it and like schematically like what they're doing is sound in my opinion. But when guys are in the wrong gap, they're getting reached, they
don't get off blocks, they're getting pushed around. We have defensive lineman getting pushed five six yards down the field. Our linebackers are not reacting properly. And then you know, what do you expect? That's what's gonna happen, and that's just bad football. And then you know the straight arm down the field. He's a great player and he is one of the best stuff stuff arms in all football. And you got one or two choices there. You gotta
knock that thing down. You gotta chop it and tackle him, or you gonna go go low and go out his feet. But you can't just run with him and let him push you away one or the other, chop it and get on him, or go and tackle him low. And I would, like I would last year's game would exactly. I would recommend tackling low. Then you got a tree trunk hitting you in the head. Well, you know what, that's part of the deal. Signs another one. Here's another one.
How about don't let him get going. He's not the runner, and he's like for Nett. If he doesn't get going, he's not gonna get going. He's actually he's much different than for Net. But you know what I mean. If he starts, he he is really good. He has a great jump cut, he's a zone runner. He's an outstanding zone scheme runner. Leonard is a very good downhill gap runner. So they're different styles. They're both big backs. They have
that in common. Um. But you know, for he you know, Derrick Henry has one of the greatest best death arms in football right now. And when you don't stay in your gap and you get pushed around, there's not a defense you can design for you. It goes back to the personnel. Then, yes, the argument, I don't that's where I go. Now, that doesn't excuse the coach of the coach's job is not only schematically to set up you know, the right scheme is you gotta get your guys to play.
And now if they just can't do it, then I don't know what you do to wondering yards a game on the ground. But I I don't see it being a schematic issue when I watch, I'm not and I mean maybe at times, but if you give up, it is hard. And as you said, JP, I love it's unheard of. I'd like to know the last time an NFL team gave up three straight games. Doesn't It's almost impossible to do. And so when that happens, I mean it is you have to look at every level. You
have to look at picking the players. You have to look at coaching the players. You have to look at the players effort, you know, skill set all of them together. When you see something that unheard of, Pete, do you remember a time as this happened in the league? No? Oh, I don't. And I'm trying to think about this game here, who's that fault? Coaches or players here? And what this game? I think we've lost Peter. You there, now we've lost Pete. We'll get back with Pete in just a minute. Yeah,
it's gotta be I'm sure it's happened at some point, Tony. Um. But this is a rarity obviously in the NFL. YEA the wrong kind of that. It smells terrible. Yeah, it's not where you want to be. Um. Uh Yeah. And so what you got when you look at that long play, and Doug talked about it, you have the three technique going inside, he gets overreached, he's in the wrong gap, which messes up everybody else, right, Yeah, and on that play with Tavin, but he's not the only offender. Um.
You have guys getting pushed off the ball. You have no one getting off blocks, um. And you have poor tackling. And so I know Doug talked about last week getting back to the fundamentals of tackling and stuff. You know, for the first half, they did a good job, gave up seven points, but they were I hate to say this, but it looked physically overmatched. Yeah, they just got overmatched. They just got blown off the ball. I got blocked.
You gotta get off the ball. You gotta stay in your feet, you gotta run, you gotta tackles, gotta beat guys. At the end of the day. This is a game about beating the guy in front of you, is it. Here's a question for you. Is it more of the that those guys are just better or is it a bet? Or is it an effort? They're better? They're better. Okay, it's not a lack of effort. At times, it probably is, you know, you see times, but not that's not the
core problem. I don't think you have a bunch of guys out there jaking it, laying down their line was just better. They're better than the guys up front for Jacksonville. They're better end of the day. Um, And that's hard. It's hard to say for me because you know it's hard. I know it's hard. Guys don't like hearing that, especially when you're a player. But the only way you change that you gotta do something about it. They got beat, they got blocked. There's no coaching that is gonna like
magically fixed that. Like there's not a scheme that all of a sudden like everything's fixed. When guys are getting pushed off the ball and running through you and and running wide open and we even't got to that. The guys running wide open in the second I mean just wide open yep, and so like, you gotta do a better job. They were so amped up to try to stop to run early in the game. The first player of the game, here comes a bootleg with a quarterback
for twenty yards. Yeah, there's some exotic things on offense yesterday's Surprisingly, it wasn't that exotic. It's a basic bootleg. But we were so concerned about running, you know, tackling Derrick Henry. We forgot that. There's actually you gotta do your job and stay in your gap in and and follow your keys. And we didn't do a good job of that that early. But you know, we got some stops we got off the field. We gotta turnover. You know, we made some things happen, but we couldn't hold up.
We just, uh, there's no other way to say it. I mean, it's not like football, like everyone wants these like simple answers, and there the simple answers is win. Like, here's how you win football games. You have big, strong, physical guys that control the line of scrimmage on both sides. You want to look good at the end of the day. You want you want to look at the teams who win, they consistently win the line of scrimmage because they have big, nasty,
physical human beings. Yeah, and then you have a quarterback that can pull the trigger and make things happen, and you have a pretty good chance to win. Now does I'm not discounting any other position. Obviously, having a great corner changes how you play defense. And you know, right, but it's a big man's game. That's where football was designed. We played, as Tom Coughlin told us in his introductory press conference, by the way, and we are overmatched right now.
I mean, I don't know how to say it. When you give a three stay games a two hundred yards, You're getting blocked, You're going the wrong in the wrong gaps. You're not flowing to the ball, you're not getting off tackles, you're not reacting, you're not coming up being physical. It's a problem. Let's come back, we'll discuss the offense. We'll delive a little more into Nick Fole's day. This isn't the most positive show we've had. I don't know, We're
we're trending downwards. I don't know where else, and I don't like we're spitting the truth. YEA, sometimes going on hurs Man. Sometimes I think I'd be better just not to. But that's where we are. That's where we are the reality four and seven with five games to go coming up, plenty ahead offensive talk. Welcome back, Jaguars, Happy our g PI, Shadrick, Tony Vaselli. We're out to Pete Prisco. He'll be back with us uh as soon as we can get him and the Jags.
We touched on the offense earlier, right and Nick Foles his days the last two times out, so before we get that I know the a lot of fans, or at least through Twitter, you know, have not been overly excited about Nick foles comments after the game the last two weeks. Yes, man, We'll just we just heard the ones there, and I know Pete kind of said something. Pete said something earlier that he thinks the comments are
ridiculous they need to change. I don't. I mean, does it matter, Like I don't like what did he say there? That is so wrong? And like, I know what the fans want. They wanted to pound the fist and say, you know, I'm like they suck and suck and like everyone. So I mean it's like, it's what he said is innocuous to me. Well, I think the fans have a broader scope of building character twelve years of building. I get that. But that's not his problem. He hasn't been here, right,
I'm just telling you what they get that. I'm the most part with their feeling. I'm not mad about the fans being frustrated, you know, I mean every right to be frustrated. Pete. Are you back with us now? Yeah? I'm here. You know what, I tend to agree with the fans on that one. Nobody wants to hear that. Crack okay, I mean maybe, I mean they just don't. Nobody wants to hear that at this what are you building to? You know, you got to go through the bad time to get the good time. They don't want
to hear it. What do they want to hear? What would you like Nick Foles saying that's what they get come up with book. We're not good enough right now. We're working to get better. It's not about building a culture. And and then that's that's just that's coach speak. That's garbage, you know that. Okay. I mean I'm not gonna argue. I mean I don't. I just that's who Nick Like, that's who Nick is. That that's authentic Nick Foles. I mean,
that's who you're gonna get like that's his mindset. The fans want to see somebody with a little more fire in the beildy, Like you want to get up there and like say, like just rip everybody and rip the offensive line and the receivers and the defense. What do you want to do then, Pete, just get don't start talking about culture and building something. Time to get to the good time. So nobody wants to hear that he was asked the question. So you just rather when they
ask the question, say no, no comment. What was the exact question? I don't remember, standp. I'll get to that. You're gonna tell him that you should. You should set up a service. You can just tell people what to say based on the questions are asked. You what. That's not a bad idea of you should be a consultant.
You should be an answer question consultant. Pete Prisco. If you want to know what to say when you're asked a question, Pete will tell you just don't give him the everything's rosy scenario and we're building something in this. I didn't hear everything's rosy. He said, it's hard right now, we're not good enough. We need to get better. Like what does he want? Like that's what he said. Apparently
the question there's not a full question. The official transcript is basically on missing a couple of big plays to his wide receivers early in the game, and it turned into a long answer building character. What does that mean? Well, I think he's saying they need to be better and it's a process. And like you either when it's going tough and it's going the wrong way. You can sit there and be negative and complain and everything else nothing's
gonna change by doing that. Or you can go back to work and be positive and keep on trying to get better. That's why I think he's saying, like, I'm not sure what's wrong with that. Now, if you just want the short answer, you missed a couple of receivers. Yeah, we missed, and we gotta make the place like that's it. Then you guys will complain or he doesn't say enough. And that's what he said in the first sentence of the answer. It's part of the game sometimes where guys
making great, great catcher made and sometimes they're not. That's why you keep firing away, keep trusting your guys. And then they went on from there about still fighting and doing all that. You understand we're a fan. Oh goshult crap and they don't buy it. You know what a good culture is. I don't blame the fans for being frustrated. I don't at all. I never have if there's not been I mean, I've been a pretty big advocate for the fans. Like I get it, I don't like I
don't blame them for being frustrated. Let me ask you guys this, I think I pretty frustrated this. I think everybody is right now. I'm Doug Marone today in his conference call, reiterated that Nick Foles he fields, gives the best Jaguars the best chance to win. Now, do you guys agree with that? Pete? Um, that's to be determined. But you paid him that money, you might, like Tony said, you might as well find out the next five games what you got. What's the matter now? I mean the
ship is less support. You're standing on the dock looking to get on, and all you could do is fall in the order. That's about it. Well, I mean I think it doesn't matter for the players. It matters for the coaching staff because if and I'm not saying this is gonna happen, I don't think it's gonna happen. Actually, Um that if they could go win four or five games, you get to eight and eight or nine seven, they have a chance to see I'm just Pete. That's how
used to think of. You're a coach though, right, But okay, Tony, if they go seven and nine, I can say seven and nine, I said, eight and eight or nine and seven so you win four or five four, four or five. I don't think they are. I don't think they're going to Pete. I'm just telling you the mindset of a coach or a player, that's how you have to think. I mean you had like otherwise. If that's not how you think, what are you doing at that point? Okay? But does he give him the best shot to win? Um?
That's I thought for sure. I was a for sure yes. Two weeks ago, I was a yes. Uh. Last week I'm like down, like yes, I'm like on the fence. I still would play him. I still start him because I mean, I think you've invested, and I want to find out what I have going because I have a good idea what Mintshew is and what he can be. So I'm at least the next couple of weeks stick with Foals. Can they score some early points though? No, Well we haven't done that all year, have we? Certainly
not recently? It's been a long time. That would help matters obviously. Well, I mean we scored three this week, we scored seven last week, and we scored three the week before. So in three first half we've scored thirteen points. Pete, stop hitting your he's dialing out, he's dialing up a pizza. Yeah. Three points last week, seven points in the first half at and the three points in London against Houston. That's thirteen points in three games. Yes it is. Let's talk
about the first talk about them the defense. But both games it was they were in the games at halftime, but they were in the game. No, it's this is not just a defensive problem. The defense is not very good. They can't stop the run. It is what it is. The offense is not very good. They don't score points. Yeah, I don't know. I just the question is legitimate. When the fans say should they go back to Minsho, that's a legitimate question. I think it's a fair question. I
have no problem with it. Doug made the and and fans getting upset about the earing culture in the locker room and building to something. You have a right to get there upset with that too, because look, unlike Nick Foles have just got here, They've been here. The fans have every right to be upset. I'm not saying they shouldn't. All I'm saying is what else do you want them to say? This is who Nick Foles is, and he didn't see anything wrong. He just said, like the stinks
right now, we're not very good. We have to get better. I'm choosing to be positive and this is how you build the locker room. That's all he said. But then he faced something similar last week too. Yeah, he was talking about culture last week. This this week he was character. Yes, well, we got the two seeds. There has to be the third seed. Every good speech has three seeds. Were three points. We got a culture, character, What's what's the one? I
don't think that. I don't think that. How about confidence? You know, if you have character and you build a culture, you're gonna have a confident locker room. There's keep talking about character, you keep talking about culture, and you don't get better, and you and your talent isn't any good? You be clappy? How about that? That could be a c I like confident better. I will say there was
more balance in the offense yesterday. I think I think d Philippo got the message from the head coach to run the ball seven Russians or three of those from foals, but twenty four by four nets for ninety seven yards, and that's being down almost the entire second half. I mean I think he had as many carries in the Indie game, like by like the middle of the second quarter. Um and I thought Letter four Nett really ran hard. I mean, I thought he was physical, made some great
catches out of the backfield. I got nothing but respect to how Leonard Fournette played that football game. And you know what, he's done a pretty good job this year. I mean, you can't can't falt them. He's been one of the pleasant surprises of this year. I mean, but but Pete, this is how dare I say, inept the offense has been. We now have three rushing touchdowns on the year, and two of them came pretty much in garbage time. It was garbage time, not pretty much. It
was the Titans. I mean, that is bad. No matter what you said on the game broadcast, it was over. What do you mean. We had three possessions, three touchdowns, three two point conversions, a couple of onside kicks. We were right back in it over. Yeah, you got excited, and you got a little excited on the broadcast for the fumble. Well, yeah, well that was that was We were still in at that point. I think it was that was It was still like twenty it was three.
I thought the fumble came when it made it thirty five, and then they went down and made I don't remember why. Why was Richardson a healthy scratch Because they wanted to start Dante Vius Russell to get bigger people on the field to stop the run. They didn't want to start him. They just wanted to have him at me, not start. They want him active so he could be in the rotation. Confirmed that again. Here's another question. I had Miles Jacket hurt for bench hurt hurt his knee, well, I don't
know how bad. There was no update from that. There was no update he had. You could tell he was visibly limping, went to the sideline, came out with a sleeve. Rick Blue reported from the sideline had a sleeve put on his knee or something, and you could tell that he was favoring his right knee. Now what the injury is, we were not told. There was no official announcement, but when the game it was clearly over, he was taken out and uh Donald Payne came in. But by the way,
a couple of things from yesterday. They found out that Andrew wind guarded a special teams player only Thanks, what's next? What's the next thing? What else did you stay your captain? Captain obvious? Is that captain obvious? Well, you have to have a backup safety before the field play, can't you? Well, I mean you're gonna make the judgment of the kid because of one game he was dreadful. What was the next?
Hold on? You're saying he was the only bad guy who had no no. If that's the case, then there's a lot of guys that you can say that about. Here's a question I wanted to ask to say that he thought he had somebody on help and nobody was there after the game, kind of called somebody out. Who'd be talking about? I don't know, but there the quote he had alluded to, um miscommunication, miss a line, guys
missed the line. Before we go to break on if the team feels prepared entering games at this point in the season, A J boy said this in the locker room. I felt prepared. It just frustrates me when you see something in practice, you know somebody is going to be there, and then it doesn't happen in a game. Yeah, then he moves on to other things. Yes, so let's come back. It sounds like to take. So who do you think it was? I don't know. It's hard to tell. Like a couple of times I thought just a j just
got beat by Brown. Let's come back. We'll delve into that. We'll look at the remaining schedule for the Jaguars as well. Okay, we'll see if you want to lock some games. I said, I've done day. I can't either, and I don't like people have got on me and they deservedly sell they should um. I said it last week. I'll say the same thing. If they continue to play defense and play offense both the way they are right now, they won't win another game. It's Jaguars Happy. I are presented by

Tony's flipping through his phone between the breaks we got. He's just frustrated tonight because just kind of how it is. It's like the whole building today, a lot of the building today losing steaks. It's not good enough. I mean that, I mean the bottom line, it is not good enough. So you gotta win football games.
Let's get on your locks. The goal is not even just they're not even competing in these forget about competing. The goal is to win and have an opportunity to win the FC South every year. To get into the tournament. You get in the tournament, you're gonna win. You have chances to win the party trophies. Get enough of those chances, you're gonna win your your lock are You're taking a lot of beat beating around town for lock in the seventh straight. I'm taking beatings for everything. I mean I
get accused of. I mean, name it, I get blamed for it. I saw some stuff coming at you on Twitter today. Yeah, keep ringing it please, I love it. I mean, we're gonna have a great segment when you get to those questions because because they came at you today. I love name calling. That's the maturity levels very high. Oh yeah, it's terrible on Twitter. But I mean, look, you understand, and I know you do because you've been around there as long as long as the franchise has
been there. It's frustrating for the fans. They're frustrated. They should be. I mean, I'm frustrated. I'm like, do you not like I don't. I have not talked to one person in this organization that is that is happy. No, everyone's frustrated, like like the fans don't have a like a market, have not cornered the market, and frustration of losing, like I think everyone is frustrated in this organization, and the fans every right to be frustrated. But they never
got to finish my assets. We had, we listed, you listed, Josh Allen. I think we got to the end right, we didn't the right the right tackles an asset. Very good player, Okay, Dan Tyler is an asset. I cameras. I think I think Cam Robinson. I mean you look at left tackle. I mean he's, you know, a good young player. Um, he's improved this year. Is your long term left tackle? I think he has an opportunity. Yeah, he's improved. I think WARP has done a very good
job with him. Um coming off to a c L as well, Like yeah, um, I still think lenders you know in the you know, top half of centers in this league. I mean Pete, you watch offensive lines. Yeah, he's he's a solid player. He's probably not I mean again, and I go back to the contract's not worth what he's making. But he's a solid player. But he's on
your team now. But I'm saying, you gotta when you're looking at assets and liabilities, you gotta look at what they're making, and you have to also have to find make sure you can replace him with an equal or better player, or cheaper option is just as good. Did I not just say that it does equal? Not just as good? Are you? If he equal and he's cheaper, he's better? Are you that dense? So if he's equal and he's cheaper, he's better. What did you do this weekend? Like?
Do I mean, do you have a long night? If we're equal player and he's cheaper, it's probably better option for Let me repeat what I said. You don't get a rid of anybody unless you can find someone equal or better. You want to say it's slower so you can understand it because you just repeated what exactly what I said. Okay, we're going through the assets, and you're dancing around the question. I'm not the answering to the question. I just answered it. How many legitimate assets is somebody
who takes over this team have on this roster? Eight? A right logan cook, punter is an asset? Josh, please please, when you start talking about special teams players being an assets, you're reaching Okay out there, special teams players being assets. That means we have to go to break and we'll come back with a second an hour blocking seven straight victories right there. I was just trying to wow. I was trying to find more than eight. Hey could be
a pro bowler. I'll say this. I'll give you one more real quick and this will drive to Twitter nation crazy. Andrew Norwell is playing good football. He's in the top table. He I bet you if you judge, I bet she's in the top ten, top fifteen offensive guards in this league. That's an acid back. In a moment, we'll delve into that and much more. At the end of all this, you build something special and hopefully someday you can look back, um, once you've had success, after going through these trials, and you're not gonna look at the trophy. You're gonna look at the people you did it with and say, Man, this is special because of what we went through to get there. Not oh man, it's a shining trophy that
just happened. No, that that that comes after a lot of trials and a lot of character building moments, um within the locker room, and that's what we're going through. Nick Foles of the postgame Press, if you say that the trophy is coming, that's what I heard? That is that what you heard there? Well? He said the trials and the tribulations and the trophy is coming. I think that was an extension of the same answer we had with all those assets in five years, there's more assets.
I mean, I mean you can go through like Pete, let's do the same thing. Like the Houston Texans. I mean you can do like, well, they got the quarterback assets, so that kind of solves about ten of them. Okay, but my point is you can go through every team like the way you were describing an asset like it's very narrow, is my point. But you can't really count and Gogway has an asset because you don't want what you're gonna do with you don't know what you're gonna
do with him. Well, he's still an asset. He's on your roster. Pete, you can I AM a mega contract to keep him and make him keep continue to being an asset. By the way, you don't have to sign as a franchise jack and asset. Um. He has been the way he's playing as of late. No, No, he has not been, by the way Pro Football Focus has. Andrew Norwell is the eighteenth graded gardener league, which isn't bad. Okay, there's there's only sixty four of them, and he played
the best they had him. Raided is the best offensive line. Andrew nor Well has played good football this year. I don't care what anyone says. He had an awful play, and awful play like that. Everyone wants to hang their hat on in Carolina, and he makes a bowload of money, so they always pick him on it. Right, He's playing good football. Play good football again this I thought he played well on the tape. Andrew do Well is a good football player. I don't care what anyone says. Let's
touch on the hot topics today. Of course. The run defense horrible again. Two hundred nineteen yards. That's six nine nine yards allowed on the ground over the last three games, all division games, all twenty point losses or more if I'm not mistaken too. The only it was actually two twenty two before they took so they really have given up seven two yards. Yeah, that's right, of course, last demoralizing. Giving up a hundred and fifty yards in a game
is demoralizing. Where do we rush? Where do we rank in the NFL now? On rush defense twenty nine and they're last in the league in the yards per carry. That's good. I mean, like Ronald Jones has done very little for the Bucks. He's got to be smiling all week long this week. Yeah, I mean, if you don't know his name, you you might at this rate, you might know it by Sunday evening. And yeah, and the
Bucks don't give him enough carey where they do. Well, the good news is, you know, Bruce arians loves throwing it around the yard. Jamis will give you a couple. And Jamis is gonna throw you a couple. Now. Whether we catch or not, I'm not sure, but they're coming. They a tody. The Bucks haven't made a decision on Jamis yet, but as he gets ready to come to town, I'm gonna ask you right now, who's a better quarterback, Jamis or Nick Foles? Nick Foles stop it. He doesn't
turn it over, Pete. That you cannot do that in that position, doesn't score points either, Yeah, Jamie, look at the points the Bucks have scored this year. Look at the turnovers, Pete. You don't win. Okay. What's what's the Bucks record? Well, I mean the defense. You talk about a bad defense, Well, look at our defense. Where's ring Pete? What's their record? Okay? But at least they score what's their record? They're not good? What is it? They score points?
What is what are they? And there four and seven the exact same things. The Jaguars, well, they score points though they're competitive and gay and he knows it to the wrong team and they lose. They're competitive because he could throw it around the yard. They lost to Seattle in overtime forty thirty four. Question, yeah, they lost to the Titans. Also the Panthers thirty on the Saints and lost. Is there a tight on the tight end on this roster as good as oj Howard? He doesn't do anything.
I was asking the question, is there what does he do for them? He does nothing. Is there a receiver as good as Mike Evans, No, there's not a receiver as good as Chris Godwin either. Shark isn't as good as Godwin? No he is not. Okay, does that help? But their defense is pathetic and they score points. Yes, he turns it over, but they score points. They this team in two games when Nick Foles has not scored any points. Tony, is our defens good? No? Okay? Then
why do you keep on bringing up the Bucks? The problem that my point is because the point is their defense thinks, just like Jacksonville's defense thinks. And the point is that they're doing. They both have the point and they both have the same record. They score points, but they turn it over. At least they can score points. Great, congratulations, score all the points you want and have the same losing record because you turn it over. There have they
been more competitive in games? Rule number one? Rule number one, don't turn it over? Rule number one score touchdowns? Okay, I'm kind of with Pete on this, both four and seven. What does it matter you lose games? Would folds? And I said, Folds right now? You know what if we had that lie detector hooked up to your body right now, it will be zapping all over the not true. Will you take twenty eight points with two interceptions right now? Points? Two? Yeah?
Old day long you would how many touchdowns? Is he gonna throw four like he did yesterday? Through three? Yeah? But he through three picks? Didn't he to two picks? Would you take twenty eight points? Four touchdowns through the air and two interceptions from a Jaguars quarterback? Where where
are the touch that? World doesn't matter? Where looking at the box score at the end of the day, where the interceptions thrown, because that matters, because let me give up, I forget about how many don't forget JP, you can't how many touchdown passes did Nick fole story yesterday? That none done? That's kind of my point. Pete, you're JP. We got him back into the corner and we're just I'm right crossing him and you're left right, we're just over the top, bang batty against the ropes. He's going
down like Deonte Wilder. It's gonna be a knockout here soon. Oh, I can tell you is you can't win games in this league turning it over? Look? Should you? Is it better to not turn it? Were? Absolutely? Is it better to score twenty eight points than score the craft that the Jaguars and was scoring? You bet? How many? Just how many ten to seven games you're gonna win? As many games you're gonna win throwing two or three picks every game like Jamis does? How many picks does he
have on the ear? And Pete here anything? This is why it's a dumb conversation. The conversation is idiotic because you know as well as I do, you can't win with either if you don't score points and if you turn it over, it doesn't matter. And so you're arguing for a guy who is a terrible win loss record and throws it to the wrong guy and more than the only reason there's not ten more picks because defensive guys can't catch Jamis Winston two touchdown passes interception. How mean,
come on, Pete, are you kidding me? Twenty yards? Pete? I don't care. In a league where it is no one throws twenty picks anymore, nobody. He's also been sacked thirty six times. I mean, come on, Pete, you're wrong here, You're wrong. No. I look, he eight I get picked off a ton, and that's a bad thing for him. He's still he still scores points. I don't care. I don't care. He throws picks. And the only reason you have thirty five picks because defensive guys can't catch. I've
done his games. Like like, you're arguing for a guy to be your starting quarterback that throws twenty picks in today's NFL, which is unheard of, arguing for him to be the starting quarterback anywhere. I'm just proving a point that he isn't any worse than the quarterback this he's Jacksonville is No, he's not. I know you know you're wrong. You know, no, you're wrong. You can't win turning the ball over. You can't. Who's who scored a ton of points in this league so far this year? The Bucks?
And what's the record of the Bucks? The defense is pathetic? And yeah, and the Jaguars Bears? Are you you're scoring points? You're honestly talking in circles now. It doesn't matter, Pete, but both four and seven. By the way, the Winston leads the league and picks he leads. He leads every league like college XFL, UFL, a FL, CFL, EVERYFL. He leads to the wrong guy every times. Where do they get scoring? Jp? Pete? Who cares or no? For the gate?
The objects of the game is to win. How many points? Know? The object is to win? How many points in the Patriots score? Yesterday? The defense hold on, I'm asking a question. How many points in the Patriots score? How many touchdowns? The top Rady throw one? No, they scored. They blocked the punt the score. Oh he didn't. He threw a touchdout past and to kill Harry. Okay, so oh, you're right, that's right after the pun buck punt, So he threw one. How many yards he throw for Pete? How many? Yeah?
How many? Where? Where is he ranking total touchdowns? This year? He's playing with a general guess what? And he doesn't turn it over, so he doesn't put his defensive bad positions and they win by the way ten football games. Tampa Bay is third in the league and scoring yeah great, and they stink the defensive steaks. Baltimore and San Franz scores more than Tampa. Guys there four and seven because the quarterback turns the ball over. That's why they can't
win four and seven. Because he turns the ball over, yes, kind of four and seven because the defense is awful. Then you can have him Pete. Build your team around that. I'm not saying I don't want to build my team around him. I'm just saying I think he's just every bit, if not better than fools. So you said you'd rather, I'll take folds because I can win with a quarterback who throws one touchdown and no interceptions. I can't win with the guy who throws two, three, four or five
interceptions a game. Put the poll out there, Twitter, what do you guys think, come at the Celly Winston, take you and let me know. The last time a fan pole about what quarterback to pick is is like how you're supposed to build a team. I mean, honestly, Pete, that's why you know what, that's why you work in the media, and that's all you should do, because you honestly should do nothing but right for a website, and that's what you do. Winst is a lot cheaper, No
he's not. He's making nineteen twenty million this year, but he doesn't have that big hook of guaranteed money that somebody else has got next year. It goes back to the money. Don't don't be throwing that media argument. You're part of the media. To no, I am, But like I can do other things, Pete couldn't like what. You're a broken down old man like I am. Now what are you talking? I got other business interests. Yeah, but once upon a time you were actually a football player
and a damn good one. But now you're a broken down old man in the media. Just like we're different, we're on the same team. Tone no, no, I listen, listen. You know what I live by your motto when it comes to the media, there might be no I in team, but there's an M and E me. I'm the same way. I don't follow the masses in the media, do im? You sometimes do? You're Olliver Jams, He's the great you think you think? Do you think I'm the guy that sits there? And let these Hall of Fame boaters tell
me that you were blocking it for a quarterback? Now you love him again. That's when we're on the same team, Pete. Now we're on the same team that there's nothing, by the way, there's nothing more infuriating to me than when I hear some buffoon on that whole fame and he who says that, who cares? I'm already I'm already mad enough. Let's not go down that path. Are we preparing you for the But no, you're getting in this year, So let's let everybody celebrate, celebrate. Well, let's let's just focus
on the Jags right now. Is that well, it's just not gonna be the celebration Tony thought it was when he thought the Jaguars we're gonna be in Miami two weeks ago, planning dinner, right, We're gonna go out of the South Beach. Remember that runway. Whatever those still on the reservation, we go, we can go. Okay, I don't think the team will be there. Okay, I think I think we meet you and Pete. You know you don't think they get locked the next five, Tony Pete. As
I said before, I'm done in the locked business. The locks are in the trash and in all serious if they don't, if they play the way they've been playing, they're not gonna win any games. Let's put it this way. You'd be more apt to lock them not winning another game than you would be them winning the next five. Based on what I've seen. Yes, yeah, me too. Let's come back. Hey, guess what you're depressed? Now? Wait till social media questions? There's nothing, there's nothing that I have
already see. You're on fire on Twitter today. Told me, all right, I just there's some great questions. Most of the the fans are amazing, just amazing people. Some of them that are like gorness. I mean you can't rememberly put it in words. I mean a couple of a police be needed. We didn't make on both sides of the football. Well, I got, like I told the guys, Uh, this is a step of st fill out of us. You know what I mean. Uh, you
work a glass off going out of practice. Some ma entis season and when we didn't get the results too if he wanted and then we need it, you know. But you know you get that. My spirit is kind of high. And I mean it's not about touchdowns. I like none of that. But I think, uh I talk I had last week my dad, you know, because I kind of player perspective, you know what I mean. We always could be, always could be worse. What it for that in the locker room after the laws in Nashville.
Great beer to one of the best beards. No, that's positive. It's a great beer. But he played well. He did, he did, He might he might actually be on his way to the Pro Bowl. He's gonna have a chance for sure. Sure, how many yards is herever. Now, uh, just under a thousand. I think like he's like fifty yards under a thousand nine yards, So you know, if he scores more touchdowns and I think he's an automatic. Well look at this though, I mean, he has four
point six yards to carry. He already has fifty six receptions in the year, so he's gonna he's gonna end up with over seventy receptions um and probably about yards. That's a good year. Yeah, six in the league in rushing yardage, third in the league in scrimmage yards. By the way, well where's he ranking the a f C in rushing yards. That's how you have to do it.
Four fourth in the f C and rushing yard So yeah, he's doing He's having a very good Guys ahead of him in rushing yards are Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs a good player and by the way, good players playing on playoff contenders, So they're gonna get more play down the run. And Jacobs might not because he's a rookie, but Henry will for sure. So well, Chubb's not really a playoff contender. Well, they're five, and they're five and six,
and they've got a favorable schedule right coming up. Yeah, very they have the easiest schedule in the NFL. And Chubb's got seven touchdowns, Henry has ten and Jacobs has seven. Nick Chubb is probably the best back I've seen this year pure um Christian McCaffrey. Nick Chubb is the best pure running back. Christi McCaffrey is the best offensive non quarterback player because of what he can do out of the backfield catching the ball. Nick Jobs is unreal. Let's
get to social questions. Your favorite Tony certainly pizza, good stuff, good stuff. Let's start here with at no toes down. Can we change the name of this show to Jaguar's Crappy Hour? What about Jaguar's Slappy Hour? Either way, this team is brutal well like what is not bad? I'm not sure why we are getting lumped in with crappy Slappy Hour, But listen, if I had to choose between crappy or slappy, I'd have to go with crappy Hour because if you're a slappy, it's hard to be overcome
that you just might be a slappy your whole life. Like, if you're a crappy, you can get better, Like Joe is slappy and so like he's just like he's been slappy since I've met him. I'm sorry, but I've never heard anybody call me slappy. But I've heard many people refer to you as slappy. I haven't. Maybe it must be behind my back. No, right to your face, that's not true. Crappy, you can get better, So i'd have to choose crappy. You have to go with one. Pete, Yeah,
cradle like crappy. You don't you want to go slappy? You are a slap so yeah, crappy means just stink. Well, slap means that's just like you are a slap blank. Yeah, yeah, maybe I don't know. They're Neither one of them is very good, to be honest. But Crappy, we can get better, Pete, we can get the stink off us. I don't think us into this category of the team. And that's not fair to us. Well, you know what, life's not fair. You gotta hey, listen, we're in this together. I'll go
down with the ship. Let's go. I'm not going down with anybody's ship because you're so. I'm getting a life raft and I'm getting the hell out of it. Like yeah, no, women and children. My ass. I'm going first. That's what Pete's going When the Titanic was going down, Pete jumps, threw ladies out of the way, babies, everything. That's I'm going on that quick, playing quick, playing the dan violent. I'm getting on the boat. How about when you're like in then exit row of a plane and they go, okay,
have a problem. You're gonna be the first one open the door. You open the door and go right on out, is what I'm doing. Yeah, No, I'm helping the women and child are not first, Pete. That's why you're a slap. That's help the women and children. I don't think you would actually if I'm being really honest. All right, question, next question, let's got next social question number two at Duval calling. Should the Jaguars clean house in the front
office and coaching staff this offseason? With four first round picks in the next two years, the timing feels right. If so, who would be your pick for the next head coach? Pete? Are you going for left witch? A lot of questions here, so I know you can answer the coach question. I'm gonna give you. I'll give you my opinion on the first part. That is the decision of Tom Coughlin. So Tom Coughlin has to start that process.
He's the head of the football ops. All that I mean, that's I don't think he's going to be a part of it. Well, but he is right now, Pete. So the question is today, not tomorrow, not a week from now, not five weeks now. The person asks us today, what is going to happen? That is Tom Coffin will have to make that decision as he evaluates the entire football side of the organization is going to make that decision,
and Tom is gonna be a part of it. Well, I know, but that's not Wait wait a second, that makes no sense to me, just based on what Shan has told us three years ago, based on how the rest of the organization works. Shadd hires the head of Football ops, vice president football, senior vice president of football. He runs football, hired the president, Mark Lamping, he runs the Bay decision. They're gonna make a decision to keep
Tom and get rid of everybody else. Well, that's like Tom has to come with the plan and this is where it doesn't make the decision. Will make the decision. Well, right now, that's not how right now the decision. So you're saying he can't change his mind. Oh sure, he like he is, like he owns the team. But I'm saying, if you look at the football operations today, it is Tom Conflin's responsibility for what happens on that side of the building. So before it keeps saying that we get that,
but he might be part of the problem. Okay, well then that, but then that is the responsibility of the owner to make a decision. But right now where we sit today, if you're looking at football, we're talking about football, and the question is asked about the football side of the building and that this is gonna be Tom making that decision. Guys, what like, where does that until he's
told he can no longer make it? When they ask clean house, that's the first thing I think is top down everybody, So the question no, But then that's the question. The question should have read, is Tom conflan getting fired. No, The question should have read in the cleaning house And the answer is yes. That means everybody goes. But Pete, you're you're missing it? Are No, you are because the way the organization is set up, Tom Coughlin makes that decision but if he's part of the problem, he's not
making a decision. But here, Tom, you go ahead, you hire a coach that you want to hire, and then we'll get rid of you and hire a new new executive vice president for ball operations. No, no, Pete, that doesn't how it works. Tom will come up with the plan of saying this is what this is where we are here, shot, here's the plan, fire me and everybody. What's the plan for him? Where's the plan for Tom? Pete? Let me know when you're done talking. Don't explain he
failed me out on this one because he's way off base. Here, I'll tell you I'm off base. This is how the organization set up. Tom will come up with a plan of what he's happening in football. Now Sean doesn't like the plan, Yeah, obviously he's gonna saying no, that's not a plan. I believe it. I think that's what was
asked in the question clean house. And then but when we sit the day before you get to that point, I mean, doesn't don't you give the guy who's in charge of football a chance to make a put a plan together, Not when he's not, when he's not, when he's perceived to be and assumed to be and and is part of the problem. So you're saying Tom's the problem. I'm saying the whole thing is a problem. Like I said earlier, I love the guy he's been. He's a Hall of Fame coach. He will go into the Hall
of Fame. He's a Hall of Fame man. But let's be real. This team is not built to be a sustainable contender as is, and ultimately that falls on Tom. Okay, fair, Okay, fine, if you want to position in that way, the question is what do you do? And I said it has to start with what Tom's gonna do, and obviously it all followed on him. He's the problem. Okay, we're going around and around circles. Now, Pizza, tell me what about the left? Which they ask you about left? Which I don't.
I don't think bar I think Barbe is going to be a heck of a head coach in this league. I'm not sure he doesn't need another year calling plays and working with Bruce Matt Rule would be one of the guys I would look at the head beacher failor who the Jets tried to hire last year. I think he's a rising profession. Hey, if you want to shoot for the moon, go pride Lincoln Riley away from Oklahoma. Next question at Rachel f l A, Why did we go into this season with no depth in any position?
Systemic failures for over ten years, pet Um, You can only have so much depth when you don't draft well. And that's the answer. Yeah, I haven't drafted well. That's why. Now that that's a very broad statement. Obviously they've gotten some right, but just overall, I mean that's a general statement, and we're not because the break there. Think. Okay, let's
be honest. This year's draft looks pretty good too. I always say it's too early to make a judgment of a draft after one year, especially midway through the year. You can't make that judgment. Pete. You don't know that look pretty good until the time you just called. You just called Taylor an asset. So that's it. You saw Josh Allen is an asset and there's two giants. Two of the major assets on the team came in that draft as of right now. I agree. Okay, I ask
you a question. Sixteen was supposed to be like the greatest draft ever. Let's go through the sixteen draft. Jalen Ramsey, No, no longer here, Myles Jack we got you got assets back for him, so it's kind of a wash. But go ahead, Jalen, I mean Miles Jacks. That one hasn't worked out. Okay, uh In Gockway was third, Yes, in gock Way worth the pick. Yeah, but okay, Sen NFL Draft, Sheldon Day, He's not even here. Go ahead, defensive tackle
Tyrone Holmes. Remember, keep going. Brandon Allen quarterback, not even here, starting for the Broncos. We caught him, go ahead and not very good and not very good. Jonathan Woodard defensive end, central arking, So don't even remember. That's it. So my point is, you have one player on the roster, what
about the seventeen draft. But but here's my point, like everyone said, like when you make judgments of of the guys, we have two guys left in the roster from the sixteen draft, one who's not playing well, one who's a good, very good pass rusher. We'll go to the seventeen draft and look at that one. You have to have depth.
That's why I'm going back to I don't want to go through every draft because if it's not in our depth, give me the Dante Fewler, t J Yeldon gone, a j Can he's the starter, James Sample safety, Rashad Green wide receiver, Michael Bennett defensive tackle, Sterling tight end, and Ben Koyyak tight ends. He's so so there's your draft. There's no depth from that draft at all. One you have one guy on the team. We can play this game in fourteen and thirteen and twelve if you want to.
There there that does draft for disasters, right, I mean, alright, four team Blake, Markiss, Hurt, Allen Robinson's on, Brandon Linder, Aaron Colvin, Telvin Smith gone, Chris Smith, Luke Bawenko, Storm Johnson. Because I mean, I mean that's I mean, like this is not like this is not surprising if you just look at like what's happened, Like that's why the seven go to seventeen just for the stake of the argument.
One in the here this one a gay starter, Cam Robinson starter, Dan Smoot, d d Westbrook, that Blair Blair Brown gone, Jaylen Myrick Marquez, William stullback. So like you have like after two years, But Pete, you're right, you have to go like the depth of your team is built from like you know, six five, four years ago. Those are now you should be your veterans on your team that are making up your starters, some backup special I mean, those are your guys now seventeen. That's good.
I'd hope most of them are here. It's only been two years, right, yes, I mean you don't want to lose him after two years? Correct? Um? Well, okay, what's the draft with Chark DJ Chark, Ronnie Harris Jackson, um quality star. That's a good pick. Go ahead, keep going on. Ronnie Harrison starting to be determined starting, But he's will Richardson, Tanner Lee quarterback, Leon Jacob's linebacker, he's a specialty player, and Logan Cook who will be a pro bowler most likely.
So so basically that draft, they got depth out of that draft and players. Okay, the problem with that draft is they drafted Brian with the first round pick. That's the problem. But that I mean they answer, whoever, We'll take a break here and then let's do more social media next time next day. Yeah, okay, because you won't shut up. No, Pete's doing the most talking here. But
that's the death answer. That's why. All right, let's get to our final social media question, just because Tony wants to at son of Duvall nine oh four, can we stop pretending like Folds is the best quarterback on this roster? Now? The offense looked flashy and exciting with Minshew, Now it looks prehistoric and downright boring with Fowls. Folds is boring an average Blah, Tony, how many points did we score against the Texans? Not enough? How many? Three? How many
we score against the Saints? Six? Yeah? Okay, then they had three points when the game mattered, Tony, No, No, My point is it's no different. It's insane Bain scoring point. Bain scoredy points with when they played like good teams, Like like, what's the they scored? They scored fifteen total points against the Texans in two games. Okay, no read read out. They lost, uh you know a week one that they's lost forty to twenty six. Okay, so that was I think that's the high point ahead and seven
of those were full Houston Texans. They lost thirteen twelve, scored twelve points. But he drove him down the field. Was his first start taking a shot at mintew. I'm taking a shot that this misnomer like we had this high flying offense that was flashy and amazing when he was the quarterback. That's not accurate. They beat the Titans twenty seven on Thursday, twenty points in this Day's lead, big deal, minshu Mania took off the win in Denver,
come from behind, good game, showed some grit. Lost to the Panthers thirty four twenty seven when mccaffree ran for it. That seven that good points, thirteen six Saints wins, six seventeen win over the Bengals, alright, win over the Jets. Okay, and and actually they've been playing good defense, better defense twenty six three loss to the Texans in London, loss
to the Colts, that's of course. So I guess my point is I don't see like there's a couple of games they scored points against teams that were really bad at that point. Um, I'm not saying, like I like Mitch you, I think Mitche has a chance to be the starting quarterback of this team. I think he'd be a franchise guys. Very possible. There's a possibility of that,
real possibility. My whole point is saying that somehow, like there's this myth that we had this flashy offense that was going up and down the field with Minshew and it's just stalled out with Foals. Is there to mean one quick thing? Is there a chance Minshew is the starting quarterback in September of two thousand and twenty. Wow, that's the night bench the eighty million dollar man. I think there is now where I do agree with the
text message or the social media question. It is it felt more exciting because Mitsch you could extend plays and make off schedule plays. Folds has not shown us that, and that people wanted it to be more exciting because he was a six round pick, he didn't cost any money. He came out of nowhere. They wanted it to be more exciting. But even if it wasn't, I we're going
to make it out to be. I agree. But where I agree with the question the social media question is the off schedule plays, the scrambling making guys miss I mean, that was fun and it was alive, and then it became a little bit of alive. I'm not disagreeing because the other thing we don't talk about he was leading I think at one time leading the NFL and fumbles as well, because of ball security. So there's a lot like we just make these blankets, statements and because of
perception and sometimes it's not reality. Just asked any married man. But the fact that you think there's a chance he could be the opening day starter in two thousand and twenty tells you all you need to know about your your perception of full I think. But the reason I say that because I think he's I think Minshi played pretty well, especially I mean especially for a rookie, and
I think he has the opera. I think there's there's more room for growth of Gardner Mintshew because of the age and his lack of experience than there is for Nick Foles, just because of his experience and how long he's been the league. Again, the fact that you think it's a possibility considering how much they've paid to get Nick Foles tells you where you are and what you think about Nick Foles. Let's come back. We'll take a look at the a f C. South. Well, it doesn't
really matter much for the Jags anymore. They dropped three consecutive division games. A look at the standings and the results this week. Yes, let me ask this. I'm not sure I do. I wasn't around here when he was gone. When he left here,
he didn't leave on great terms. Here's the thing. I mean, Pete covered the team just left. You just left. But I was gone to by the way, I was at Houston. But if I remember correctly, I mean it was the fans that were demanding Wayne make a tray, I mean a change, correct I was still on the radio in Jacksonville. Next, What was it that Pete? Wasn't that the issue? I mean, the fans were the ones who wanted to change. The cap had gotten so out of whack, remember, yeah, and
they had a number of losing seasons. And I think I mean, I mean Tom Tomas, he had lost his way a little bit. I guess I'm bringing this up because whatever happens this year and next year, whenever, or maybe ten years from now, hopefully whenever, Tom uh is no longer in the role he's in, whether it's self induced and he's just ready to retire and go on, or if there's a desition decision made to go in
a different direction. My hope is that time will heal all wounds, and that's usually what happens that you know, a couple of years away from it, there will be no tar, you know, no tarnish legacy because people were you know, put you put in perspective and you look at the whole picture and you remember for hopefully you remember the good and the positive and all that was done. Um, because I don't want that's the last thing anyone latched. I don't want that for Tom. And no, it shouldn't
happen either, but it will and it has. But time heals those things. I think, yes, yes it does. But right now the wound is open and still hurts, and people are gonna be angry. People are man thing about Tom. Here's the other thing about Tom. In my mind, Tom Coughlin is one of the great coaches this league has ever seen. A Hall of Fame coach, hall of fame.
Personnel hasn't always been a strong student, Tony. Let's be real, and I can go back and point out many, many, many, many personnel decisions he made when he was coach slash executive slash general manager of the entire organization, and there are many of them. So but coaching wise, there is no questioning that man is a coach, a great coach.
And the second part of that is, and I said it earlier, there's no questioning him as a either because and not that does any doesn't absolve anything that's going on now. Tom Coughlin is an A plus person through and through, and a lot of coaches in this league you can't say that about. Let's touch on the a f C. Nothing else to add. Why I tried to move on That's right, he's very well said. I just wanted to say. I mean, we were quiet. I don't even think we don't agree. It was just very well said.
We'll give it an amen, Amen, Amen, Let's go. A f C South Results Thursday Night Football, the Texans over the Colds seventeen DeShawn Watson through a couple of touchdowns, and of course the only other division game yesterday in Nashville, Jonathan Williams ran for over a hundred again for the Colts. But the Texans come away with a win and the division lead. Pete Yeah, and they have the best quarterback.
And so how about somebody asked me this yesterday and when we are working, how do you rank the quarterbacks in the AC? Set says, since we know what the division looks like from ranking the teams ranked the quarterbacks right now in the AC South, Watson are set, tanne Hill falls. That's how I ranked him. And somebody said, maybe the way Tannehill is playing right now, he might be ahead of her. Set. Well, I'll say this, the cult should have won that game. Let me back up,
the Colt said, every opportunity to win that game. They actually took the lead uh late mid the late third quarter at a drive eleven play drive ten of them were run plays. Texans get the ball, they drive down and settled for a field goals set. Colts get the ball back and Frank Wright throw it three straight times and the three and out Texans got the ball scored and the game changed at that moment. I never I
didn't understand why. From they were pounding the Texans, I mean they were beating them, pushing them off the ball. I mean they were having their yet that they become a rent run heavy team and then they're good at that line is good man, and they got away from it. And uh, I was a little bit surprised as t Y wasn't himself. He wasn't by any means, and so their limited at the receiver position a little bit without t Y and Paris Campbell I think is that his name?
The rookie they drafted. Um, so now they lost. Now they lost Ebron two for the year. What was the injury there? Because he got hurt during the game, I don't remember, So that was a little bit surprising. Um. But listen the Texas one they split this year. I mean the power rankings, I think go as the record is right now, Houston, Indie, Tennessee, Jacksonville well and Tennessee plays Indie this week and then they have the Texans
two times. Tennessee. That's a tough team, man, and Tennessee controls their destiny even though they wouldn't shock you to see them win the division. No, not at all. My Raybril does a good job. I think, uh was it John Robinson their GM, Yes, came over from Tampa. There's an outstanding job. I think it's a good combination. They worked well together. They build the team based on what they want to do as a staff, and they're a
tough team. Let's come back. We'll talk to all the other games in the league in Week twelve, Final Final segment. We're almost done. It's Jaguars Happy Hour on the Jaguars Digital Network. As we probably support the Jaguars this season, Stuy mart saving is a beautiful thing. We're back, Jaguars happy, our j P shattered, Tony Wasselly
Pete Presco. We really should do that in commercial podcasts Uncensored. No, we talked about it every week. I don't think we should, especially this week. This will be a good episode this week. I don't think it'll be smart. Why is he? Is he uh lit tonight? He's crying about us teaming up on him tonight? No, Well that's not accurate. You were I was not giant. First of all, if you believe that I got some swamp land, I can sell you. Um JP is a liar and we now have that
confirmed that he is uh misleading the people. How do you have that confirmed? What are you talking about? I've confirmed? Oh you you are the sod. He made himself the source of his own store. Can't you do that? Pete? Journalism? Oh you need to get another source that I heard. Nowadays you're able to do. That's a new standard. No, nowadays, don't even do any sources. Just say it. That's my point.
Let's go around the games. In Week twelve league, the Bucketeers over the Falcons thirty five two jamis and the Bucks with a wind Pete, Yeah, died. The Falcons were the story though for me in this game they looked like they had righted things after the last two weeks, and they went back to being miserable again and no sacks after getting bunches of them the last two weeks. So holds the ball forever? What's that? And I said? And Winston holds the ball forever. He does hold the
ball forever. But he also threw for three thirty and three touchdowns and two interceptions. Would you take three thirty and three touchdowns right? Two interceptions and two interceptions? Would you take that? T P don't be he would take it. That's why he's not answering. That's not I don't believe you play football planning on turning the ball over. It doesn't work that you're planning on it. You never you have to give the two picks with them, they come along.
Trust me. Show me the last time Jamis did not throw a pick in the game. Probably been a while. I can look that up. By the way, the Bills over. The last time somebody in Jacksonville threw four touchdown passes, I can't remember. It's been a while. The Bills over the Broncos. Frank Gore becomes a third all time leading rusher, surpassing Barry Sanders trially, only Emmett and Walter Payton. He's in the past, Walter Payton most likely. I mean, what is the A few hundred yards left? Yeah, and it's
it's a testament to his longevity. I mean, think about this for a second, and got toured two A c ls in college. No, he's remarkable. He's a and he's not slowing I mean, I guess he's slowing down, but his yards for attempt is still good. Okay, this is gonna be sound like I'm a Homer as good as he is and as Hall of fame worthy as he is. He wanted better running back in fred Taylor. I take Freddy t By the way, the last special, last interception free game for Jamis was at Seattle on the third
of November. Wow, I stand correct too. He was passing and they lost. Tony would take that. Throws Bears over the Giants nineteen fourteen, struggle to get points in that game. Talking about that game, Steelers over the Angles sixteen. Tin Hodges new quarterback man, and they might slide into this thing Mason Rudolph out Ruda, Uh, the Duck Dynasty whatever his name is, Devil Hodges Hodges in and uh. And that war this week with the Browns, the rematch. I
can't wait to see it. They're six and five and they have an easy record, too easy schedule coming up, schedule coming up. I mean they testament to uh, Mike Tomlin, I mean what a job. I mean, they have injuries, lost guys. You think about that. They played yesterday. They played a bad team, but they played yesterday without Smith, Schuster, Connor Roethlisberger. I mean, thank your hon and on it goes. Yeah, they also played the Bengals yesterday, but still you're still
winning games you're supposed to win. Are the Bengals gonna go winless? They're going back to Dalton? Now, did you see that the Browns over the Dolphins. Mayfield actually looked good, but he's playing a Dolphins, so it's like a seven on seven game practice. The Brown's gonna make a run here. Pete, Well, the loser of this week's game between the Steelers and Browns is out elimination game. According to Pete Prisco, Saints over the Panthers late second or last second field goal
for the Saints. Gotta done Panthers, mr field goal Panthers for the Saints. By the way, it's a bunch of field. The Panthers missed a chip shot amongst other field goals, but the chip shot was like a twenty nine yard or to take the lead. And at that point, worst case scenario, they go to overtime, right and and Tony. But here's what. In the last two of the last three games, the Saints lost to the Falcons by getting
whipped physically on both lines. And now they almost lost or should have lost the Panthers by giving up thirty one or it should have been thirty four. Not a good look for a team that at one point we thought was in the conversation would be the best team in the league. That's fair, but I think the Panthers are better than people give him credit for not Defensively, they're not fair. Jets over the Raiders. Three shocker of the weekend World happen. I think I was one of
my best picks of the week. The rest of them stunt, But I thought the Jets would win that game. Not that not No. I thought Derek Carr would throw some passes and hit some passes as well. It's a perfect storm. Got a West Coast team going east, playing an early start against a team that's playing much better. And then, oh, by the way, next week, the Raiders played the Chiefs in the rivalry game for the division. So how did how did? How did Sam Donald book? Much better? He's
getting better and better. Let's get through the rest of these quickly. Seahawks over the Eagles seventeen nine, The Redskins beat the Lions nineteen sixteen, the Patriots somehow beat the Cowboys thirteen to nine, and the forty Niners flex some muscles in a thirty seven and eight over the Packers. The Packers are nowhere near the best team in the NFC right now, right now, the best team by far. It's the It is the San Francisco forty Niners. They're the best team in the NFC. Just stop denying it.
It's the truth. Baby. Monday Football, the m v P frontrunner Lamar Jackson brings the eight and to Baltimore Ravens to Los Angeles to face the six and four Rams, including three former Jaguar's first round draft picks. Huge ball game at the l A Colosseum. Who you got tonight? I like the Ravens. I like the Ravens are the best team in the a f c uh and I don't think they're gonna and they play really good defense, opportunistic defense. The offensive line for the Rams is not
very good. And I don't think I don't think the Rams are gonna slow down Lamar Jackson. I think he has a big night in l A. I disagree with you. I think the Rams are gonna win that game. And I think Wade Phillips is gonna come up with the perfect game plan to slow down Lamar jack What is that? Bete have a great week. We'll talk to you next time, and happy Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to you guys. To Yeah, Pete Prisco, CBS Sports Scene right. Happy Thanksgiving to you
and do you. I'll be in Atlanta doing the game on Thanksgiving, so have a Turkey leg for me. We'll do it, Tony, but tell your entire crew. I'm JP Shatrick. Will see you next time. Thank you for watching on Jaguars dot com, Jaguars Facebook, and thank you for listening on Jaguars Radio to Jaguars Happy Hour on this Monday. We'll talk to you next time.
